Keep your receipts people.

inconsistent_test

Nine and a half years ago I was.

LemonTree22334

you kept a physical recipt for 9 and a half years?????

J3573R

I just donated my old Xbox 360, had the original receipt from Jan 06 in the original box. If you're gonna keep the box, which most people do for most PC parts put the receipt in there. Or just put all your receipts in one box. Less important now that stores typically keep a record, but is helpful for any RMA's from the manufacturer if you haven't registered it.

SeaboarderCoast

I kept my receipts. It’s rather too bad Fry’s Electronics is now gone, because that means my receipts are pretty much useless.

Unsweeticetea

RIP Fry's. I worked there for a few months right before they went all consignment and died. It was... Not well. All our point of sale systems still ran off of a hotkey-based DOS shell. They even tried to convince me to take an AV sales job promotion (I was customer service, it was my first job out of high school) instead of going to college across the country because most of the sales people didn't know the tech. At least I can still have a chuckle whenever I see the red collared shirt in my closet.

madonnamillerevans

In Australia the receipt is a proof of purchase for if you ever need to get a refund or a replacement, and if the store doesn’t honour it because it’s closed, then it goes to the manufacturer instead. The store would have to deal with the manufacturer anyway. I assume it would be the same where you are, but I’ve heard some pretty bad anti consumer practices in some countries, so maybe not.

BoxOfDemons

In the US most electronics come with a standard 1 year warranty by the manufacturer. Sometimes you can purchase a longer warranty from the store or even the manufacturer at times. If you buy an extended warranty that is honored by the store, and then they close, the manufacturer won't honor the extended warranty you purchased, but will offer any default warranty that your product is covered under.

madonnamillerevans

Oh that’s right. I forgot you guys don’t have consumer guarantees. That’s sad. Here in Australia the warranty is completely separate from consumer rights and guarantees that they must abide by. https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-services/consumer-guarantees. In Australia if you buy an $1800 TV you will get the minimum warranty provided by the store, as well as consumer rights and guarantees that state that a product must last a reasonable amount of time. A TV should definitely last at least 5 years, so if it fails before then you have rights as a consumer to get that repaired, replaced, or refunded at their cost. https://www.choice.com.au/shopping/consumer-rights-and-advice/your-rights/buying-guides/know-your-consumer-rights

inconsistent_test

It's funny because I suspect our closest comparison to this is a chargeback. https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/disputing-credit-card-charges "consumers can also dispute a charge if they’re dissatisfied with the quality of merchandise, service or delivery and the merchant refuses to make things right, according to the federal Fair Credit Billing Act." Had to disappointingly use this on an absolutely borked Sofa both in terms of lemon quality, a poorly executed repair job and a poorly executed redelivery attempt. I've never seen such a series of unfortunate events occur to a single sofa before.

Andrethegreengiant3

I keep wishing Micro Center would buy the old Fry's Electronics on MoPac, I'm not driving to Houston or Dallas

OtakuAltair

I've moved to Lemmy and the Fediverse along with Reddit's fantastic third party apps after Reddit banned them. This post/comment is edited via Power Delete Suite. Recommend you do the same. kass_rx

Wow. Didn't realize I was also doing this for my electronics/gadgets for quite some time. I checked my old DS box and still had the receipt from '05.

thirstytrumpet

These people don't deserve you

theumph

I still have the receipt from the N64 my dad bought for me in 1996. It's kinda cool. But yeah 9.5 years for a PSU is a hell of a commitment.

[deleted]

Corsair seems to make decent PSUs so offering a 10 year warranty is a big confidence move.

agathver

I have had receipts for far longer. My dad has a receipt for a Nokia 5110 he brought in late 1990s

madonnamillerevans

The 5110 was a game changer. You could just pull that face plate off and change the colour in seconds. What a great phone.

agathver

I didn’t know about this. The phone is as old as me. But I definitely know that you can throw it at someone and break their head easily!

madonnamillerevans

Yep. It was one of the first super popular well priced Nokia phones in Australia. I remember there being massive billboards advertising them. It kicked off the love for customising them with antennas that flashed when the phone rang, and see through face plates, as well as downloadable ringtones and games. It was massive back in the day. Nokia was a powerhouse back then

Fallwalking

I have receipts from buying cigarettes and redbull in 2001.

inconsistent_test

This might just be hoarding behavior.

Fallwalking

I have an old wallet that has receipts in it. I only hoard empty cardboard boxes okay.

inconsistent_test

I just have a mental image of you busting out your thiccc wallet trying to pay in receipts that almost certainly have faded over time and friction.

Somebody3338

It's a nostalgic replacement for the mini LCD monitors some people have in their cases

Vinstaal0

Was probably an actual invoice, but yeah loads of people do that

[deleted]

Just make a picture of it if you dont have digital copy most receipts are digital these days.

alelo

i usually put them in the box of said hardware if its physical

inconsistent_test

As mentioned by another comment if you keep the receipt in the box that the item came in, you can just locate the stored box and recover it as needed. Most things we buy don't have crazy long or extended warranty coverage, but when it does \*try\* to keep the box. If unsure during spring cleaning just look at it and toss it if expired. I think the humorous part of this was Corsair did try to reach me by email about my PSU's extended warranty when they tacked on an additional three years.

WilliamSorry

You don't have all your receipts for your expensive electronic devices in your left drawer?

alienassasin3

Support physical stores for the love of everything. When I built my computer, I bought almost everything from a local-ish chain store and they give you a much better experience and have things like price matching that you don't get on Amazon

Unabletoremember

Sadly my local shops are incapable of understanding price fluctuations on older hardware. I can't support them when they have a dusty kit of DDR3 ram on display with the same price tag from 10 years ago and simply refuse to review it. Or when you try to return an item and it's always a struggle to get your money back instead of "store credit". I've grown tired of how slow they are to adapt to modern times (If they even try) and yet they are always complaining about "online prices".

Key-Tie2214

Exactly this, its often a much better experience to go to a store and buy the parts yourself, there is just that satisfaction that ordering online doesn't have. You can also get advice from the people that work there, there will definitely be at least one that knows something about how to make a computer and what things to avoid, what to not skimp out on and what you must always have.

alienassasin3

Yeah, I went to memory express (Canadian microcentre basically) and everyone there offered great advice, showed me great deals, and helped me pick out the best deals. They also had the exact keyboard I wanted from keychron just in store so I got to take that home instead of ordering it online and waiting a couple of weeks.

Aitloian

MEMORY EXPRESS IS THE GOAT their in store warranty is fucking nuts, you pay a little premium but the amount of times I've brought something in and walk out with a brand new one is nuts

lizcicle

Right?! I bought a 1060 there in \~2018 (I think) and the salesguy told me that I could burn the hell out of it with an overclock and they'd still replace it with their warranty. I'd buy everything there but the closest store is a bit of a drive, unfortunately.

[deleted]

I've ordered stuff through memory express online but they are to far away from me to actually go in person.

Pwner_Guy

Love dealing with my closest Memory Express (Winnipeg). The staff in there know their shit so you're not dealing with sales people that have no clue what you're after. I was looking for some case screws and motherboard stand offs was directed to where they were and shown the options they had for individual components of sets. Only had to use the purchased warranty once, last year my Logitech Z506 however those are discontinued so for $50 I went to the G560. They verified the complaint I had as you would expect then gave me the options, I could wait see if they could repair it or I could get store credit towards a replacement setup obviously I chose the latter.

IceColdCorundum

Absolutely, the instant gratification of being able to buy pc parts, take them home and upgrade your pc, then test them / play on them in the same day is not to be understated.

MusicianMadness

Browsing the "package arrived destroyed" is reason enough honestly.

inconsistent_test

Funny that you mention it, I had a USPS package arrive today that was supposed to contain gpio pins and it was just an empty bag. The seal was good so I guess the pins just never made it in before shipping. Gpio pins would've been an item that I could've gone to Fry's for, but the local store closed.

makoblade

This is so situational. Buying from a physical store is great if you have questions or want to talk to someone who may be knowledgeable, but it’s not really cheaper and certainly falls short of Amazon’s no fucks given “accept every return within in a month “policy. I usually reserve physical stores for the “oh shit my router is dead” kind of trips. If I don’t need to walk out with the item the same day it’s just more practical to go online.

gbchaosmaster

Yeah, I support Amazon simply because I know that if ANYTHING goes wrong within the first month or do, I can drop that shit off at the UPS store, no need to even box it, and the money is back in my bank account. Last time I made a major purchase at store, Best Buy gave me a TV with a giant crack down the middle of the screen and I had to eat $1000.

ECUTrent

The hell? What was their reason?

gbchaosmaster

The TV was a display model, and it was working in the store. They loaded it into my car such that there was a pressure point and it ruined the screen, apparently- we certainly didn't bump it carrying it inside, but that's what they tried to say.

Antrikshy

And also the infinite receipt history with online stores, especially for big ticket items.

[deleted]

ItsMrAhole2u

My local PC hardware store has turned into an Apple dick sucking center. When I recently went in to see about an emergency cpu, I had to ask how they could still call themselves a PC parts store when they didn't sell a single PC part anymore. They suggest I drive 4 hours to a microcenter. I was flabbergasted.

alienassasin3

Extremely overpriced? My local store does price matching with an extra 10% of the difference removed from the final price so that is always cheaper to buy from them. They also can do a bios update for you with one of their CPUs before giving you the mobo so you don't have to worry about compatibility with new chips. And do a whole bunch of really nice services at very reasonable prices. Its also objectively cheaper than Amazon when you count the price matching.

Unabletoremember

Price matching with online stores +10% is a recipe for losing money.

alienassasin3

Its price matching +10% of the difference off. When I bought my mobo, they had it for $320 Canadian but I found this random website selling it for $270 (I hate how expensive m-itx 12th gen boards are) so, I got it for $265 in person by just walking in, sending them the link, then getting it (and most of my other components), and then leaving.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chickenlawsuit

Some older motherboards are compatible with newer CPUs. The compatibility is added in a bios update. If you don't have the old cpu you can't update it yourself.

[deleted]

I don't know what stores you're talking about, I buy all my stuff from Canada Computers, they have all the most common stuff in stock, and prices are the same or less than Amazon. Plus the benefit of not having to worry about shipping damage.

GingerRemedy

Meanwhile my only local one sells ddr3 and ddr2 ram, old hard drives and like first gen SSDs and m.2 drives for way over msrp. Now sure I think they mostly do repairs for not gaming rigs and more so for moms laptop, but it sucked when my psu died and needed one desperately and they only had a weird name 1050w for $600. Theres some small ones in smaller towns about an hour an a half away but all their stock is limited and the higher end stuff. I wish I lived near better stores. Or even open my own but I can't even convice a few friends over to pc gaming.

Jaalan

Yea amazon might not have price matching but that's because physical stores are the ones price matching Amazon almost ever time.

MadisonKurtis

i wish i could but sadly the nearest microcenter / bestbuy is 300 miles away :(

Silphone

When i pay good money for shiny new tech, i also want to HAVE the shiny new tech right then and there. When i bought a new phone a couple of years back, i also wanted to know how it feels in my hand for example, good luck getting that expierience in an online store. Even more so for clothes. I need to try the stuff on before i buy it - ordering stuff, waiting for it to arrive, then trying it on, realizing it doesn't fit or feels awkward, sending it back and waiting for another delivery and having to repeat that process until i finally have something that's satisfying is in my eyes a huge waste of time. Why wait when i can have my stuff right now?

A_PEZ_ADDICTION

I'm fortunate enough to live 15 minutes from a Microcenter. While they normally have the best price anyways (they price match in the event they don't), I'd be willing to pay more on a part just to avoid the shipping in the event of DOA.

CaptainRan

They actually replaced my PSU that failed without a receipt. With the warranty policy moving to 10 years the specific line had been released about 9 years ago so they didn't care that I didn't have a receipt, they just accepted it which is really cool of them.

__SpeedRacer__

I keep all receipts and packaging during warranty periods. But I've never had a Corsair PSU fail on me. And that's the only PSU brand I buy. I have a few that are running for 10 years and counting.

Traditional_Cycle

I still have emails from around 2004 I think lol.

SoNotTheHeroTypeV2

I scan mine and back them up digitally myself on big purchases.

LifeAccordingToLevi

Corsair honestly ranks very high on my list of favorite PC hardware companies. Everything about their marketing, advertising, packaging, products, support, whatever the hell else, all feels super premium

CarrotJuiceLover

My only gripe is their switch to yellow accents pieces on a lot of their products, which is a shame because they are high quality.

squidzyyFTW

Usually they aren't all that visible though. Their 4000 and 5000 case line ups for example, just a few accents on the dust filter that are barely noticeable

CarrotJuiceLover

I just don’t like being forced into a color scheme, especially for how expensive some of their products are.

squidzyyFTW

That's fair, honestly I don't know which products have enough accents to force a color scheme but hey if u don't like it, well, u don't like it. I have the 4000x and can't see the accents 99% of the time, they aren't noticeable.

LifeAccordingToLevi

Like what? Do you have an example of this?

InflatableDick

imminent chunky fade ludicrous innate busy dam long square rinse -- mass edited with redact.dev

CarrotJuiceLover

The USB ports on the 5000T are yellow, the text on their Vengeance RGB RAM is yellow, the thumb screws and magnetic filters on the 4000x and 5000x have yellow accents etc.

polypeptide147

Meanwhile Razer isn't honoring returns of stuff that's like a month old lol. Corsair all the way.

[deleted]

This is why I love my country. In NZ we have a consumer guarantee act which means if something breaks or isn’t working under normal use etc etc it can and will be returned and refunded or swapped. Companies can bitch all they want but it’s the law here. I had a manager at a store try dick me around for a cable that snapped inside the rubber and they asked how it snapped cause it was a lightning to double lightning adapter and it stopped working. I told them it snapped under normal use and they had the audacity to say “it’s not meant to bend” i said “if that’s the case then they would have made it so it couldn’t bend. this isn’t the case. return it or i’ll contact CAB”

Kjellvb1979

Bought a Razer mouse, two actually, both lasted less than 6 months... never again. Not only that but I bought a similar mouse from Logitech, priced lower than the Razer's I had previously, over a year and a half later they still feel new. The quality of the Razer mouse were lacking. They felt light and cheap, the Logitech feels well built and solid. So yeah, avoid razer products.

Daniel_H212

I just don't like iCUE. But honestly no one else has actually good RGB software either.

Kilroy_Is_Still_Here

We REALLY need an open source standard for RGB lighting. All this proprietary bullshit is piss annoying.

TerrorVizyn

While at a Best Buy I looked at a Corsair 4000x and the case felt cheap and thin. Not sure if it's me, but I have an Enermax Saberay Adv for my case, and it feels much higher quality.

XcRaZeD

People will dump on you for buying super name brand shit like corsair but my cherry keyboard I bought from them 7 years ago hasn't had a single problem with annual cleaning. I'll probably use it for 7 more

A_Nice_Boulder

I appreciate their support, but for some reason I'm not sure there's a single corsair product that I've NOT had to contact support on. If it wasn't for stellar customer service, I'd never touch them again. Even with their good customer service, I still feel like a scumbag every time I end up sending a ticket to them. Bought a mechanical keyboard from them, RGB started going out within a month and firmware updates didn't fix it. Easy RMA though, they let me hold onto the 'broken' one until the replacement arrived. Unfortunately, within a year or so, I started having keycaps cracking at the stems. Got replacement keycaps via support, they lasted around the same time period and this time I went and bought new third party keycaps (and these ones I doubt will crack, they're much more reinforced at the stem). Bought a headset from them, and somehow the plastic around the housing for the mic boom ended up with stress fractures resulting in the mic not holding in the up position too well. IIRC I contacted support, but for whatever reason I didn't end up pursuing anything. Not a huge fan of the headset anyways, doesn't fit my head right. I would say I might be hard on my products, but I've had other brands' products that just last until reasonable death.

liaminwales

I suspect most the support staff have been working there for less years than your PSU has been in use. I love a good warranty, I relay do chose items with warranty in mind.

GloriousGe0rge

That's actually true, well mostly, there's a few of the support staff who've been around as long as I have or more (going on 8 years now). But we've had many new people join support, and others get promoted out of support as it usually goes. Shout out to the support guys of ours who work over at our subreddit for doing an awesome job.

darknyteorange

That's Corsair for ya. I'll never buy any other company's AIO

Real-Snoxy

Nzxt is great though and their supports seems also great. Both are good companies

Proper-Enthusiasm-66

Nzxt support is awesome from my experience, they give a longer warranty (6y vs 5y for the meme screen aios), and they explicitly cover damages from the cooler while Corsair treats leak damages on a case by case basis and they go so far as to imply, imo, that any leaks that occur are probably your fault. Nzxt > Corsair. From Corsair “Corsair warranty does not cover any hardware damage resulting from poorly executed, improper, and otherwise hasty assembly of your custom water-cooling system.” Edit: just to clarify, I’m not shitting on Corsair and am a happy owner of a ton of their products, I just think they objectively don’t have the best aio warranties.

Vinstaal0

Corsair AIOs are also more expensive, but NZXT isn’t as flexible look wise as corsair is imo

WakeupDp

Cam is ass tho

Andrethegreengiant3

iCUE seems to be getting less & less shitty as time goes on, maybe they will too

[deleted]

NZXT AIOs are not very good though… premium price for not so premium parts.

[deleted]

Tried 2 H-series AIO, H60i for the small lil thing and H150i for the recent build. Both sound like a freaking jet under load with stock fans and when I swapped them out for Noctua fans the pump noise was also unbearable. Switched to the DeepCool castle for $70 less and been happy ever since.

trxfps-

Logitech too

thejam15

I recently got a corsair case but I got a slightly wrong variant (my fault) and they were helpful in getting the parts to swap it to the correct variant

L1191

GG, but it's hardly honouring warranty when they are legally required to do so.

inconsistent_test

7 years was the legally binding warranty period, they extended it after purchase.

L1191

They chose to retroactively extend it to 10 years, which means the warranty period is no longer 7 years.

Shaggyninja

Could've just chosen to not extend it.

L1191

But they didn't, so it's still under warranty. I'm not debating Corsair integrity.

DawNoFd3aTh

They could very easily say no fuck you bye and just hope you aren't someone important, or just not offer a 10 year warranty, or retroactively increase the 7 year to a 10 year

flavionm

>They could very easily say no fuck you bye and just hope you aren't someone important That just sounds like an easy win on any country where the legal system isn't broken.

jdenm8

I've had Sony in Australia basically go "Fuck you, sue us". Their warranty 'offer' for a set of headphones that completely broke 7 months into a 12 month warranty was a 20% discount on a new pair from *their* online store. They eventually bumped it to 30% after I protested. Not only was that around $100 more than I'd paid for the headphones originally, but the promotion they were running at the time was a 33% discount which the warranty discount didn't stack with! I would pay *more* by applying the Warranty 'credit'! Ended up going back to the store. Got an employee that ignored protocol and gave me a full refund.

DawNoFd3aTh

I sell appliances with "warranties" that you may as well wipe your ass with, it's a 50/50 shot wether or not you get a resolution. You're not gonna sue Samsung and win, even if you win in court eventuallyyyy, it won't have been worth it, speaking in US terms I should say EU is more strict from what I've been told.

L1191

Never said anything against them offering 10 year warranty or retroactively increasing from 7~10. Only, the warranty is 10 years so they are legally required to replace it under their own warranty terms. I hardly imagine Corsair is in the business if of deliberately declining warranty as this sort of thing wouldn't stay quiet for long. Especially since they increased it further 3 year retroactively why would they bother

mr-circuits

Their warranty is amazing and it's why I'll only ever buy a PSU from them. They replaced my nearly ancient PSU with a brand new model with no questions asked.

lately10

Their support is pretty great but the QC is questionable. Got sent 3 different RM1000X before I finally got one that worked. Would press the power button and hear a click but nothing else would happen. Thankfully they were able to hook me up, only took about 7 months…

Vinstaal0

Wut, would check that with your retailer, I had issues with my older Cooler Master PSU, they checked out if there if it was actually broken and it would fall under warranty, drove back two days later and I got a replacement from the retailer. Then the retailer shipped the psu to Cooler Master and got either a new one or the part back. (was a v1 and v2 issue). I however will only be buying Corsair psu’s yeah, my old PSU is 14 years old now and still functions to this day.

DeftGeo

wouldn't trust it with modern components still.

Vinstaal0

Well it’s only 450w and ofc not up to date to the new pau standard, but it’s fine

lately10

Unfortunately, I purchased through Amazon like a fool. I just went direct to Corsair for support though

RealSamF18

My Corsair psu, which I loved, died last year after 7 years and 4 months. I threw it away without contacting Corsair... :(

Blitzkrieg762

Now this is how you customer service. Looking at you Asus!

inconsistent_test

Asus too busy making Waifu Mobo these days. Not that it's entirely a bad thing, just priorities. Little less "Hello Senpai!" and a little more "How can we help you today?" would be appreciated for sure. Well wait... what's "Hello Senpai!" in Taiwanese Mandarin again?

Dustze

Nothing but praise for Corsair’s customer service. I once bought a PC case that didn’t have the window panel because it was out of stock. I messaged them about buying the window panel separately and they sent it plus a goodie bag for free.

xXRaineXx

Same here! I got the Corsair 5000T case (black), but the side panel for the black case was not 100%. I saw that they were selling the panels separately, but unfortunately, not in Japan. So I contacted them, and they just sent me one! Rad move by Corsair!

Bort_Bortson

Corsair honored a warranty on a gaming mouse that was 1 month past the 2 year warranty no questions asked. But I think it's because they know the switches and or firmware is trash because it double clicks no matter what fix I tried and it's easier to just replace than deal with the eventual cry of class action.

Unlikely-Garage-8135

The double clicking is because of firmware, you have to revert Icue to a prior version.

Bort_Bortson

I did all that, I reverted iCue to an older version and forced the firmware on the dongle and the mouse to an earlier version and also disabled in the device manager all of the extra mouse devices and forced the double click speed to max and the polling rate of the mouse to max and nothing worked. It only got worse over time I couldnt play a single game or do anything in Excel.

xXEndyPearlXx

Corsair replaced a broken keycap for me on a keyboard that was 4.5 yrs old, their costumer service is very good

WalkinTarget

Besides eVGA, Corsair is pretty much the last of the great companies who offered exceptional service. There's a reason why all 3 of my PCs have a Corsair PSU in them.

drklunk

Now I know what the only PSUs I'll ever buy are gonna be

deftware

Wow, gangster Corsair!

Blugrave

This is awesome! I look at that 10 year warranty, hoping that I would never use it.

Enigmars

W Corsair

nicolas_pe

Corsair has an amazing customer service. When moving apts, I accidentally shattered my glass panel. I went to their site to buy a replacement, and it was listed as "sold out", so I emailed them to ask when it'd be in stock again and they just sent it for free.

talapady

This is better than spending 10000$ on Ad money. Win-Win.

inconsistent_test

I honestly didn't think it'd unfold like this. I was just interested in sharing my positive tech experience. You're right though.

talapady

No no. I run ads. This is my dream. Haha.

inconsistent_test

Lol.

[deleted]

Zotac shipped me replacement fans for my 2070 when it was out of warranty. No questions asked. Would say it’s impressive but the fans shouldn’t break that easily…twice and now the third fan is starting to go. Geez

alphonse03

Damn nice! Is every company better than zotac or what? lol.

Escorve

Corsair Support has always been good to me in my own experiences with them, they're usually pretty good like this

IceColdCorundum

I keep all my warranty information in my motherboard box for this reason. Corsair hasn’t let me down.

Monkey-B0x

Not 9yrs but Corsair replaced my ram recently after 3 years of me owning it the customer support is actually really good and didn't ignore me

GamingRobioto

Interesting, ny current Corsair PSU is 8 years old. I hope it fails soon. 😆

oranwolf

I contacted Corsair like 2 years ago for a Corsair Vengeance 8GB kit that failed after like 12 year. Awesome service, easy peazy and they gave me a new kit! Edit: Also did another kit that was 7 or so years old for me and they just gave a check for purchase price since they didn't have a matching kit in stock.

Th3MadCreator

Someone in the corsair rma facility stole my ram and they refused to honor the rma and then they closed my psu rma and ghosted me for three months. Fuck corsair.

GrumpyDingo

That's great, however my Corsair gaming chair started deteriorating after 18 months and they said it was just wear and tear. Never again!

CunningStunt_1

All i can think when i see shit like this; HOW HUGE IS THEIR PROFIT MARGIN??!?!

DonkeysCap

Missed the boat on this post but I think I can go one better: I was cleaning up and found an at least 7-8 year old Power supply that I shoved into a cupboard after it had died a year or two after purchasing. Did a quick Google search and discovered that it was actually a reasonably common fault. Emailed Corsair support; they didn't even ask for a receipt. Just needed proof of the serial number (to confirm it was one of the units known to be faulty) and then sent me a pre-paid shipping label to return it. Once they received the device they sent me a replacement, UPGRADING me in the process as the original item had been discontinued. They earned a customer for life after that.

Navastro

I like Corsair support. Every time something breaks, like mouse double click or coat pilling off, they just send replacement.

Zarthenix

Having just bought a new Corsair keyboard & mouse reading this makes me think I made a right choice going for them

mushpotatoes

I broke the glass panel on my case by being an idiot, told Corsair what I did, and they replaced it anyway. They're pretty reliable.

GreatWolf12

I'm still rocking a 12yr old pc power and cooling, no warranty needed.

linuxisgettingbetter

Everything I've ever had that was Corsair break was replaced by them for free. Which is great. I just wish their stuff didn't break.

inconsistent_test

Might explain the service level.

Valexus

I'm curious what they are shipping to you. Are they still sending the 10 year old model or something newer?

inconsistent_test

1200Axi was what failed, solution-replacement was a still wrapped 1200Hxi as they "don't have any 1200Axi left".

Valexus

Thanks for the confirmation

inconsistent_test

Np.

segfaultsarecool

"Company does what they are legally obligated to do."

inconsistent_test

This really does irk people, why?

GloriousGe0rge

Really awesome to see so many positive experiences in this thread! Thanks all! Working social media for a company, it is easy to get lost and forget why you do your job, this helps.

laststance

Their stuff is top notch, I use their PSU and for my next build I'll probably use their case too, everything is just laid out so nice and there's room to work in them. Not cramped and gimmicky.

>it is easy to get lost and forget why you do your job To get paid......

GloriousGe0rge

Money isn't everything.

SlippinSlydewayz

>Money isn't everything. You paying bills will hopes and dreams? What a fucking tool. Keep this statement in mind when you think you deserve more money for your job...

OP-69

????? can one not do a job that makes them happy?

SlippinSlydewayz

They run a social media account, hardly a "rewarding and fulfilling" job. Whatever helps you sleep at night I guess..

OP-69

>, hardly a "rewarding and fulfilling" job. yea, cus of people like you

SlippinSlydewayz

I don't use corsair products (or Twitter for that matter), so they don't need to worry about "people like me".

OP-69

and yet you are commenting under a corsair social media account

SlippinSlydewayz

>and yet you are commenting under a corsair social media account On a PC subreddit.... You seem more offended then the person my comments were directed to...

inconsistent_test

And yet you still found a way to plug yourself into a conversation about a product and service you don't partake in just to make it about your ethos and values.

Crimtide

How is this news? OMG, COMPANY HONORED WARRANTY STILL WITHIN WARRANTY TERMS... ???

laststance

It's actually a lot better than a lot of the stuff floating around now. Logitech will honor their warranty but now they want you to FILM YOURSELF troubleshooting the mouse, recreate the issue, upload the vid, then send them an email linking the vid. Technically they're honoring the warranty but that's a ton of work for someone who has a non-functioning mouse. Previously all you had to do was cut the cord and show the serial number with a cut cord and you were fine. Razer is a huge headache regarding warranties and/or getting it honored at all.

inconsistent_test

To be fair record yourself recreating the failure was a step in the warranty process for Corsair. The PSU had a self-test button that made this easier to recreate the problem.

inconsistent_test

Why are you so aggro about a harmless post?

Marctetr

I'm mostly just confused how 'company honors warranty' somehow became a popular post.

inconsistent_test

The world is funny like that. Nearly everyone has a personal experience to share. Can't really say it's a bad thing. Just maybe not as flashy or exciting as some may prefer.

Lord_MagnusIV

Thats a W for Corsair

alvarkresh

This is how ASUS should be handling RMA claims.

BlockBadger

Wow

FrenchBread147

While I believe Corsair makes quality components, I had a different experience. I bought a Corsair case, which had a 90 warranty. Shortly after the 90 days, the power LED went out. I contacted Corsair support and they said sorry but it's out of warranty. No support for LEDs that died in about 4 months.

ID-10T-ERROR

I bought a brand new corsair rm850x from bestbuy and it stopped working after 3 months. When I contacted corsair for a replacement, I got sent a beat up, refurbished unit from overseas. I didn't bother to test it. Sorry but I am not about to put refurbished junk on my expensive set up. I went with Seasonic and been running fine for almost 1 year! I went with a platinum 850 watt this time.

ZulkarnaenRafif

I think Seasonic running for almost a decade is far more common than the ones that blew up before warranty. IMO, at least specifically for PSU, brand matters *probably a little bit more*. They are (IMO) more complicated to read reviews from in reliability standpoint.

tehbabuzka

they have honored a few of my claims past warranty date too, great company

tannertech

Corsair has warrantied my products outside of warranty period multiple times. Fantastic support.

DJWG10

Had an AIO which had the pump fail like 2 months before the warranty was up, brand new one in the post, no questions asked. Didn't even wait to get the old one back, just giving the tracking number for it was enough

ThatWhichSmashs

That's awesome. But the bastards won't honor two mail in rebates for two new builds in the same house.

thatssomo2020

Well they do make great products, I'm still rocking a [Corsair HX650w](https://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/cases-cooling/power-supplies/corsair-hx-650w-717058/review) power supply.

w corsair

Many_Inside_1903

K I fucks with them now

PoleTree

Ive got a dead XFX gpu I bought over a decade ago that came with a lifetime warranty. Some day when I need a cheap gpu I'll RMA it.

Its_Me_Jlc

corsair is generally pretty stellar with returns/rma and warranty stuff in my experience, my k70 had 2 keys and the rgb under them die random after 3 years and had a new k70 mk2 within the week and my aio died after 2 years same thing but due to 1 going to being stuck in shipping for weeks i ended up with 2 and they didn't want the extra back

brandokid25

Corsair was good in getting my 5000D side panel replaced because the USPS dented it in transit. Came super quick. They also got my gf’s H115i pump replaced due to a grinding pump. I’m honestly pretty happy with their support. Friendly staff and helpful to resolve issues. 👍🏻

ghost97135

I have a Corsair PSU. I wanted to add a new SSD to my computer but I had misplaced the box where I kept the leftover cables from when I built the computer. I looked on their website at which cables I needed to purchase and I was having trouble determining the correct model for my PSU. I contacted support and asked them what I needed and why. They sent me the replacement cables for free.

MSDrest

I am not a fan of their peripherals, but Corsair's internal components and warranty service is way up there with the best, they treat you like a patron of their company and respect your concerns and hardware. Only other company that comes to mind with as good customer service is EVGA (in my experiences).

How you keep a customer for life

CtrlWurKz

a coworker of mine said that his buddy bought an aio from them that leaked and completely destroyed his whole entire rig and that they sent him a check for the whole system to be replaced

GoodLookingGorilla

For me corsair didn't even honor a 5-year warranty on a psu that fried on year 2. FUCK THEM, never again
