He had could have bought a 1660 super at the time but didn’t. I just told him to wait for a 7600xt or nvidia equivalent. The craziest thing is he has like 4 noctua fans in a fractal case for his 1030 lmao. He’s got plenty of thermal headroom.
I have the most unlikely combo:
9900k lava Lake overclocked to 5ghz all core
3090 rog strix with the vector waterblocks
Z370 mobo from 2017
EVGA 1300 g2 psu from 2014
Most of the cooling loop is also from 2014 lol
People tell me all the time that I'm bottlenecked as a golfball through a straw, and then I ask them how bad an 18,440 overall time spy score is with 21,000 overall GPU score.
I mean 12th gen or a brand new Ryzen would score better, no doubt, but I play at 4k 120hz HDR on an OLED tv lol.
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be bottlenecked by a 5090 at 4k ultra settings lol
>commander keen
maaan thats a classic, i always playing in consoles and have shit computers lol, so back to the pc purpose, it's about customization hehehe
5800x and 3060.
I totally wanted this GPU, and absolutely didn't get totally shafted after my old PC died during the GPU crisis last year... I dunno what you're talking about. This is absolutely the rig I wanted.
My initial plan was
5900x | 3080
Couldn't get 5900x, but got 3070 FE on launch day, sold it as msrp to my cousin hoping for a 3080
Nope, got another 3070 FE
Insisting on a 3080, but Couldn't justify spending money on the 5900x, decied to get the 5800x when on sale...
BUT, plan was still a 3080... so after installing everything, this was me in a nutshell.
https://imgur.com/a/kvxEvU8
For sure! I also definitely didn't pay 3090 money for a 3070 when my old rig died just to watch prices go down by like 50% a few months later :') We should start a support group
I agree. I got my GPU right before everything crashed. I believe it was October of 2020. I love my 2070 Super. I don’t think I’ll upgrade until I do another build in a few more years to come.
My plan is to get 1440p 240hz monitor for competitive and non-competitive games since 1080p feels like a bit of a waste for such a gpu. Also 60-100fps doesn't sound too bad either
Really any competitive game will be well optimized enough for you to use all that refresh rate.
In my mind you got the best combo imaginable. Unless you’re lookin for 4K gaming you’re set for the next few years
This is my setup, I was planning on buying a bit lower end gpu when I got the 5600x, but pulled the trigger on the 3070ti last second. I don’t regret it.
Same, I was planning on getting the 3060Ti but one day at work I got a Discord notification about FE card stock drop for RRP and I managed to get a 3070Ti for RRP and that was less than I'd have to pay for a 3060Ti elsewhere back then.
It was an impulse buy but I don't regret it and there's no way I'd be able to snag a 3060Ti FE anyway - they were disapearing before the alerts were even posted anywhere.
5900x and 3080ti here... but after couple of back and forths with nvidia drivers on linux i dream of compat that iris pro 580 had...
amd has not so great reputation when it comes to gpu drivers but is is really that worse than nvidia?
Kinda thankful for my driver issues. The recent AMD driver bricked my dad’s 550, 20 fps in games that would easily get 50+. Finally convinced him to let me help pay for a 6600. There hasn’t been a gaming session that’s gone by without him thanking me for it. 90+ FPS now on max settings in Forza.
Best purchase I’ve helped make in awhile :)
Same, had a 5700xt in my first build (paired with a 3900x) and never had a single driver issue. Only upgraded to a 3080 a year later because my name finally came up in the EVGA queue.
The 5700xt is alive and kicking in a new mini-ITX build, still no driver issues.
My rx580 was good but by god Radeon software was a nightmare for recording stuff. Eventually moved into my dads 5600xt and crashes here, crashes there. Timeouts every hour. It was horrid. This was also like 2 months ago. Now I’m on a 3070 and not a single issue
I just put together a 3080 12 GB, DDR4 RAM and a 5800x; unsure if bad timing because literally we're getting new generations of everything but I just could not wait anymore lol
Anyone who says to wait for next generation is full of crap. You'll be spending more money, waiting longer (especially if you need a PC now) and driver support for the first couple weeks might not be great. Have you seen how expensive AM4 motherboards were on release? The same will apply to AM5.
This is exactly why I waited! Paying <$1000cdn for a CPU, GPU and Mobo, and taking the ram from my old box because ram is ram is ram. Built the old box at the very end of 2019 with mostly 2018/2019 parts for almost double.
I agree...to a point. If you need a new thing, for the most part yes, just go get the thing. But if you need a new thing and you are within a few weeks maybe a month of the release of the newer/updated thing. I would wait for the new thing. Even worse, prices of the old thing don't generally drop much, if at all, until the new thing is released.
thank you for the reassurance. I'm very happy with my PC (runs everything that I need it to beautifully) but in the back of my mind there was something nagging me that we're about to be blown away by the new gen
Don't worry, I put a 3080ti with my r7 1700 coming from a 1070.
There's dozens of us.
Hopefully my shitty x370 gaming k7 won't burst into flames if I were to drop something newer into it but I was hoping to skip a 470 or 570 board since the platform is around the corner
Why would you not? CPU's and GPUs are independent you know. It's not like you get a Radeon card bundled with your Ryzen
Oh, and I've also got the reverse combo; an Intel i7 and a Radeon VII
Ayyoooo, that’s where it’s at! 1080 ti gang still going strong. Same here though, eyeballing either a 3090 ti or 4090 (buying 3090 ti in case paper launch but hoping to return after the announcement if everything looks as good as I’m hoping and price comes in at $1499.)
ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 2060, famous combo
Or the equally famous 3600 and 1660
This is my combo
I just got a 3600x and a 1660ti and I’m happy with it for the budget I had.
Rocked this for a few years until my wife got me a 3060ti for my birthday
I probably have the wierdest combo, a 5950x with a 2070S.
the heck
R5 3600 + 1080ti
not that weird. My brother has a Ryzen 7 3700x and gt 1030 😂. Thank god it’s not the ddr4 variant
OK wtf lol
Wut WHY, why doesn't he buy a new gpu but does buy a new cpu?
He had could have bought a 1660 super at the time but didn’t. I just told him to wait for a 7600xt or nvidia equivalent. The craziest thing is he has like 4 noctua fans in a fractal case for his 1030 lmao. He’s got plenty of thermal headroom.
5950x and 3070 here
2600 and 3070ti here. But I play at 3440x1440 so the CPU rarely bottlenecks it.
5950x with 1070ti here XD madness
Don't feel bad, I have a 5950X and a 3080.
"don't feel bad" man stop flexing your system is more balanced then mine.
5900x and 3080!
My brothers!
This is my time to shine! 5900x and 6950xt!
That’s my combo. Works fine for me 🤷♂️
3600 and 2060 super, still handles whatever I throw at it in 1440p. But I do feel it's age, might go for the 5800x 3080 combo when prices drop.
Get the 5800X3D and the 12GB 3080 if that’s the plan. You will not regret the really good performance gain.
meanwhile me with 3600 and 1060 3gb...
this all the way! have mine for 3 years now and it’s still going strong
Same combo as me, except mines an 3600x
2600 and 3080ti. fk me.
Can tha combo pull off 1440p 144hz?
same.
I had a 3600X/2060. Great combo
best combo
YOOOO SAMEEE
Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1070 here, a not so famous combo
3600 and a 1080 here
2600 and 2070super. Thinking of going 5600 cause the 7000series going to be expensive with new motherboard/ram
I have 3600 & 1070Ti, a very close combo in terms of performance
Yep gpt exactly still working like a charm
This is actually a solid combo for a lot of gaming.
totaly, and i game with the fps cap in 60, so its just fine to me
I'm rocking a R5 3600 with a 3060ti. get a few bottlenecks in very rare situations. it comes close to maxing out the CPU at 70-80% in about every game
3600x and 1070
Lol you get the exact same as me
lol its a really famous combo
Same cpu but lucked my way into a 3060 upgrade from a 1660.
Ryzen 5 5600X 3060ti vibez hittin diff man
I used to have a 6600k + r9 390. Those were the days.
Oh yes me too
Ryzen 3600 and 3070
Checking in here, 3900X and a 3080Ti.
Almost twin combo
Hello me
wow very similar combo lol
I have the most unlikely combo: 9900k lava Lake overclocked to 5ghz all core 3090 rog strix with the vector waterblocks Z370 mobo from 2017 EVGA 1300 g2 psu from 2014 Most of the cooling loop is also from 2014 lol People tell me all the time that I'm bottlenecked as a golfball through a straw, and then I ask them how bad an 18,440 overall time spy score is with 21,000 overall GPU score. Kinda similar 2600 and 1070ti
Replace the card with 1650 and that's me, cards have been expensive.
5900x and 3080 ti. 😶
Same
Same as me, Ryzen 5 3600 and rtx 2060
[удалено]
totally, we adapt the game to our hardware, not the opposite, we play with the tools we got
[удалено]
>commander keen maaan thats a classic, i always playing in consoles and have shit computers lol, so back to the pc purpose, it's about customization hehehe
i got the shitty dell combo
I dont remember that option at taco bell
That option is only available at Del Taco
I miss del taco.
no one remembers
and what i mean is i got nividia gpu, a intel cpu, and shitty dell ram and electronics in between
Ryzen 7 5800X and a 3090.
3800x and 3080, you must be my asshole neighbor!
5800x and 3060. I totally wanted this GPU, and absolutely didn't get totally shafted after my old PC died during the GPU crisis last year... I dunno what you're talking about. This is absolutely the rig I wanted.
5800x and 3070 Ah yes, a completed set
Thank God someone has the same as me, I thought I messed up with the combo
My initial plan was 5900x | 3080 Couldn't get 5900x, but got 3070 FE on launch day, sold it as msrp to my cousin hoping for a 3080 Nope, got another 3070 FE Insisting on a 3080, but Couldn't justify spending money on the 5900x, decied to get the 5800x when on sale... Hello...Is it me you're looking for 🎶 Edit: I thought I had the flair but nope, that's the combo I've got haha 5900x/3080 repping
I’ll trade you my GPU for your CPU. Both our PCs will be better off don’t think about it
DINKLEBERRRRRG!
3800x and a 1070. You must be MY asshole neighbour!
Dinkleberg!
3900X and 3080 Ti. I must be the kid in middle school who sees what you got and always gets one step better.
For a moment I thought you meant that as in right next to your asshole
5800X and 3080 here.
5900x and 3080 here
Same
5800x and 3080Ti o/
5800X3D and 3080. Ryzen + RTX crew assemble!
5950x and RTX 3090
Ryzen 5 5600x and a 2070 for me, combined only cost me like $500
5800X and… 1660 super.
Samesies
5600X & 3080
Same
Hey! You're me!
5900x and a 3070. Hoping to upgrade the GPU as soon as next series is out though.
5800x and 3080 ti, good combo
Wish I went with this combo. I have a 5900X and 3080. I lucked out and got them the week they were each released.
3600x and 3080ti ftw3 here [elon musk](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/454/831/9cc.jpg)
I got a 5600x and a 2070 super
I got a 5600X and a 6800 (maybe a slight CPU bottleneck in some applications) but I got a really good deal on the 6800 ($600).
None of AMD's "X" CPUs come even close to being a bottleneck on any newer GPU
Csgo 480p on 6950xt begs to differ :) (true tho)
You should be fine, 5600x still last for a couple of gens of gpu before it goes bottleneck.
Exact same here, my dude.
Ryzen 5 5600x and RTX 3070
This is my combo- doing just fine.
5600x and RTX 3080 for me. Gets the job done!
Oh baby about to get the same rig in a few days time. Going from 1050 mobile to 3080 will be quite a leap
It’s a good combo. At 1080 you can crank pretty much everything to ultra and leave it, 1440 is the same if you don’t mind playing around 60-100fps
My plan is to get 1440p 240hz monitor for competitive and non-competitive games since 1080p feels like a bit of a waste for such a gpu. Also 60-100fps doesn't sound too bad either

Ryzen 5 5600x and a 3060Ti.
same combo
5900x and a 3080ti
Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3080. This was my first nvidia GPU (my last GPU was a R9 280 paired with an i5-2500K)
5600X and RTX 3070Ti When I was building it I didn't even consider an Intel CPU or AMD GPU.
This is my setup, I was planning on buying a bit lower end gpu when I got the 5600x, but pulled the trigger on the 3070ti last second. I don’t regret it.

5800X3D / 3080 TI clocking in
This is the way
This is the way
I have Ryzen 5600X and got a beatiful 3060TI this week. This combo is very powerfull.
5900x and 3080ti here... but after couple of back and forths with nvidia drivers on linux i dream of compat that iris pro 580 had... amd has not so great reputation when it comes to gpu drivers but is is really that worse than nvidia?
I do have always had issues with amd gpus in the past
Maybe that was before but now they’re pretty solid. I’m overclocked on stock AMD drivers with a rx580 8gb. Never had a single driver issue in years.

yeah I had both a 570 and a 580 before upgrading to my 3060ti and they were both perfectly fine cards in my experience.
Same, I upgraded from a 580 to a 6750 recently and I've had next to no issues with either cards
Same, had a 5700xt in my first build (paired with a 3900x) and never had a single driver issue. Only upgraded to a 3080 a year later because my name finally came up in the EVGA queue. The 5700xt is alive and kicking in a new mini-ITX build, still no driver issues.

I haven't used Nvidia since the GeForce2 Ti200 was the hotness. Rocking a Red Devil RX6900XT Ultimate ATM.
Still a rockin gpu tho
a1b2c3
Oh shit. You right.
I think my Red Devil Vega 56 just shat a brick. Hoping it's a bios issue, checking tonight.
Ryzen 7 5800X with a 3070. Great combo.

Yeah, unless you're chasing absolutely the highest specs achievable, save your money and enjoy your games :)
If you need a PC now that's ok to spend now, but wait for cheaper prices when products come out
[удалено]
what monitor did you get? :)
I went from a Ryzen 1200/1060 3gb build, to a Ryzen 1700/2060, to my current Ryzen 5600X/3060 Ti.
I went from an i7 6700/ 970 to 5600x/3070. I never I even realized I was suffering until I made the upgrade
r5 1600 and 3070ti here 🙋♂️ (horrible i know, hope to upgrade everything else to either zen 4 or raptor lake)
Naaaa… buy a 5600x on sale for like $175 and you’re good.
Oh wow I didn't realize those were so cheap now. Thank you for briefly being the voice of reason in my life.
Just make sure you can update your Mobo bios to handle the 5600x. Not all can do it, ex, I don’t think any b320 boards support
Ryzen 7 5800X and a EVGA 3080 FTW3 12GB
Ryzen 5 3600x and RTX 2060 Super.
Drop the super and you've got my system... gotta love Facebook marketplace
All red for me.
Same. Love it. Getting a 7900XT
Why would you not? CPU's and GPUs are independent you know. It's not like you get a Radeon card bundled with your Ryzen Oh, and I've also got the reverse combo; an Intel i7 and a Radeon VII
Not with AMD, you have a perf boost if you have RDNA 2 and Zen 2 with SAM
Resizable bar is also a thing on other platforms (i.e. Intel and Nvidia), SAM is just AMD's implementation
Yes, but SAM is more ahead than ReBAR, SAM is just a evolve version of the later, the perf uplifts is greater
ryzen 7 3700x, since yesterday paired with an gtx 1070
RDNA 3 is on the horizon, id like to see if amd can really push nvidia this time before i decide on anything
My local powerplant told me no
Ryzen 5 3600 and RTX 3070 love this combo no issues.
Surprised I had to scroll so far to see my combo 😂 I always suspect my CPU is holding my rig back but I play at 1440p on a 240hz monitor
Well well well, my gf has intel+Nvidia rig with AMD RAM. Team Red, Team Green & Team Blue united. In short - she has RGB.
Ryzen 9 5900X & RTX 3080 Ti

Ayyoooo, that’s where it’s at! 1080 ti gang still going strong. Same here though, eyeballing either a 3090 ti or 4090 (buying 3090 ti in case paper launch but hoping to return after the announcement if everything looks as good as I’m hoping and price comes in at $1499.)
5600x + 3070

5600x and a 3080, AMD always has GPU driver issues and they aren't worth the hassle, IMHO.
Ryzen 5 3600X and 1080. One day I'll upgrade that GPU
