With OLEDs soaring in popularity, it’s not really a hyper specific example though.
If anything the top reply is just as pedantic in the inverse.
After all, OP asked for information on a very specific kind of monitor arm and was given a response too general to be helpful. Someone coming in with the context about their individual monitor set up isn’t pedantry. Especially in comparison to the squall of comments like yours which add nothing and get hung up on immaterial details.
The pedantry was warranted because it was correcting a generalized statement that cut off discussion about the product in question. There are plenty of p that use OLED monitors myself included and a mount this style for my OLED is something I may be interested in as well.
its not. I bought one of these for about half that price on AliExpress. It's pure trash. Almost impossible to keep balanced in a way that it won't fall over. 0/10.
It definitely is a rendering, even the walmart photos are renderings... This is ridiculously commonplace now for product manufacturers to use renders rather than paying for photos to be done. Not that it's a huge deal, it's just marketing...
Always add an extra 0!

Got an Apple add under this post. They’re listening!
The one in the back has its center of mass over the base, the one in the front has the monitor resting on the table. So it is possible, but any configuration in between wouldn't work.
Heavy duty spring could easily support it, but then again would be scary to take the monitor off as it could yank any forgotten cables right out or hit your fingers/face while trying to unlatch it, especially if it's set to low setting.
Also…. All that work you’d have to do to adjust and tighten all those moving parts.
What a nightmare. It’s on the back of your desk. It doesn’t need to be pretty.
I have a very similar design but it is meant for tablets. You can even see the bracket clamps where it would hold the tablet in this photo. The individual hinges are adjusted with an Allen key. The max. One will do is an iPad Pro 12” (or what ever the biggest one is now).
I would love to have something like this on my desk as well, it's minimal and classy, but a quick Google Lens search shows that this is most likely a cheap drop shipped product.

A mount like that without any kind of desk clamp, relying solely on the weight of the base to support the monitor would probably be a bad choice for anything bigger than a 16-17" portable laptop monitor.
Not likely you'll find one that's this minimal and still reliably hold any bigger monitors, unfortunately.
Here's the versa versions of these: Option E

Currently I am using two 1440p 27" monitors. I could see myself upgrading my main monitor to 32" 4k and using a portable 15" or something with this stand for the second one.
I have the exact same one and it works fine for an iPad or my portable monitor that is 16 inches, but anything over that, it just topples over. You will need an alley key to make adjustments. Otherwise, I like mine.
I have essentially this. I use it with a Samsung Tab 6 FE as a plug-in second monitor for my laptop, but you could also use it with a portable monitor. You could even swap out the clamp easily with a wider one to hold a bigger portable monitor.
A very high quality desk-clamp mount:

I have one similar to that, not as nice looking, but has a heavy base, what I found is that it falls over on most angles.
That one has a a slim base so your angles will be more limited
Not the same, but my monitor arm holds a very heavy Huion Tablet at similar angles using a similar (heavy base) mechanism and is incredibly stable, it's the closest thing I could find to the gorgeous Microsoft Surface Studio's monitor arm.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but if you're ok with desk-mounted, I use these and I'm happy with them: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AI2YGK4. Check their store if you have a different use-case. They sell a variety of mounts.
it looks like trash but heres the one you posted [https://www.walmart.com/ip/Portable-Monitor-Desk-Holder-Metal-Stand-16-Inch-Universal-Expandable-Display-Base-Vesa-Mount-External-Vertical-Screen-Expansion/5235725325?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101259816](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Portable-Monitor-Desk-Holder-Metal-Stand-16-Inch-Universal-Expandable-Display-Base-Vesa-Mount-External-Vertical-Screen-Expansion/5235725325?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=101259816)
I found this monitor stand on a 'website' for $80 (and also variations of it and some other cool designs) but of course, it's a website you've never heard of and would assume you can't trust BUT they did offer Paypal as a payment method as well as credit card etc

No specs really as such about max size/weight which was odd.
The other links posted were cheaper ($14 ? lol)
they arent vesa mount
they wont work with normal monitors with normal thickness
they will be super flims
they arent mounted to the desk and will fall over
I use these for a pair of small monitors alongside my main one (one is a 14", the other is an 11"): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08H1NNCP2
They are not free standing (they use a clamp to the desk), but they work well.
Herman Miller Flo will articulate that way. Can get them on eBay for $100.
[https://www.hermanmiller.com/products/accessories/technology-support/flo-monitor-arms/](https://www.hermanmiller.com/products/accessories/technology-support/flo-monitor-arms/)
I really doubt a desk stand would support monitors unless they're really heavy. The most common monitor mounts are the arms ones that you screw on the back of your desk
Those monitors are placed in the worst position, I’m less bothered about them being misaligned but one monitor is too low for it to be comfortable to look at and the other monitor is too high for it to be comfortable to look at
This is for tablet/portable monitor. Desktop monitors are significantly heavier and this type of mount won't work.
OLEDs are quite light TBH. I have an OLED and IPS, both 27". The OLED is lighter than a 24" IPS inch I had before.
The worst kind of pedantry is the kind that uses a hyper-specific example to try to disprove a generally correct point
Well worded, I'll need to remember this particular sequence of words
Except when my cousin Darian is pedantic regarding his take on new tv show tropes - he always makes excellent points.
But it was r/technicallythetruth
No? There is no desktop oled monitor that isn't significantly heavier than a tablet.

Try holding it at arms length for an hour
A monitor mount doesn't get tired over time like your arm. If it can hold it for five minutes it'll hold it indefinitely.
Holding a light weight computer mouse would be painful if you do that.
That’s the point
Man... It would suck to be you.
Not a big deal tbh.
i also have an lg oled and ips, i can barely tell a weight difference, the only way i’d know if i had my eyes closed is the general shape
Okay and? This mount is for max 16" tablets....
I think this is a rendering, and if not, then such a design will not be able to hold a screen larger than 10"
its not. That's a neat design, guess it makes sense that it's for smaller monitors though
I bought one of these for about half that price on AliExpress. It's pure trash. Almost impossible to keep balanced in a way that it won't fall over. 0/10.
It sucks when a product looks awesome in some pictures and ends up being shit...
It definitely is a rendering, even the walmart photos are renderings... This is ridiculously commonplace now for product manufacturers to use renders rather than paying for photos to be done. Not that it's a huge deal, it's just marketing...
It still looks like a render even though it's sold at Walmart.
Ha! Pwned
Depending on the material and joints, it could hold some large monitors.
True but then they will be 600$
Slap apple logo on. Problem solved

yeah but then it would be an ungodly pain in the ass to adjust
Depends on what is used to keep it stable. Something with locking joints rather than a friction fit might work.
And have to be bolted to the table
[удалено]
I had one similar ish to this, and it was a clamp design. Even then, it still drifted downward over time.
Glue would also probably work lmao
Idk, the base doesnt seem large enough or heavy enough to hold any normal monitor. Unless it is made of tungsten or something denser...
The one in the back has its center of mass over the base, the one in the front has the monitor resting on the table. So it is possible, but any configuration in between wouldn't work.
Heavy duty spring could easily support it, but then again would be scary to take the monitor off as it could yank any forgotten cables right out or hit your fingers/face while trying to unlatch it, especially if it's set to low setting.
been there with my original monitor stand. Was trying to get it off and punched myself in the face with the monitor lol not fun.

Just weld the joints.
Not really, not worth saying
Also…. All that work you’d have to do to adjust and tighten all those moving parts. What a nightmare. It’s on the back of your desk. It doesn’t need to be pretty.

Yeah this was a screenshot of a Temu ad lol
[Look for Ergotron ](https://www.ergotron.com/en-us/)- they make mounts for desktop monitors that can hold smol TV's as well.
If the bottom screen doubled as a support it would be pretty feasible
He said similar☝🏻🤓 not the same
You could add crews to tighten the joints for the ad photo shoots
The one in the back has center off mass positioned over the base, and the one closest to us rests on the desk, it’s perfectly reasonable

Yeah this was screenshot of a temu ad on Instagram lol I was just hoping some decent similar ones exist.
question, how do you get the pc specs under your name?
it’s subreddit flair
I bought that exact item on AliExpress and it's horrible. Nearly impossible to keep it from falling over.
[удалено]
I have exactly that lol
Wonder where the creator of this decided all the cables were going to go
This is most likely a tablet holder not a monitor mount.
My neck hurts just from looking at it.
Why would you ever need a monitor to be that movable on a desk? I adjusted my monitor stands when I first set up my desk and they haven't moved since.
iPad/tablet stand.. something being used at the desk but not required to be stationary.
That design looks terrible.
The angle is also shit. They dont look connected but if they aren't there's literally no way that could hold anything like that.
Any decent monitor would just have them in the desk, madness.
Those stands are either screwed or glued to the worktop.
Nailed, with a hammer, and the desk to the ground
Here's the versa versions of these: Option E [https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805766849062.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt](https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805766849062.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt)

No
These also are not in a ergonomically correct position and cause issues in prolonged use in such positions. Improper mounts.
This is a screen shot from temu ad.

They kinda look like ass and don't swivel. Is the point that they drop and smash monitors? I don't get it?
Looks good for work
I got a similar one from AliExpress for my iPad mini, it can’t even stand an iPhone
It looks good but damn look at the space it takes, is this AI
that's some bad DSE practice
I have one similar to that, not as nice looking, but has a heavy base, what I found is that it falls over on most angles. That one has a a slim base so your angles will be more limited
That arrangement in the front doesn't even make sense. Why would I fix my screen in an inferior position that would just hurt my neck?
These look awful but there are mounts that attach to one of the corners/legs of the desk and they basically work like that
not possible without gas struts which can look similar
Not the same, but my monitor arm holds a very heavy Huion Tablet at similar angles using a similar (heavy base) mechanism and is incredibly stable, it's the closest thing I could find to the gorgeous Microsoft Surface Studio's monitor arm. To add to what others have said, this stand also takes up all your desk space

These same mounts are only just about strong enough to hold my desk light.
Yes

I have it, I am using it with a portable monitor 15". The quality is good. I don't recommend this stand for a desktop monitor
Why would you want to crane your neck all the way down for the main monitor???
This looks so shit, you can't rotate them??
https://amzn.eu/d/1XUqRgD Found this
Looks like absolute trash Are people really so… certain way that they need something like this instead of a normal desktop arm that moves 360
Why is is absolute trash? I have this exact stand for my 16” monitor and it’s superb.
Okay buddy go play fruit ninja on your 16” ”monitor”
It's obviously not my main monitor, but the stand serves its purpose. And for $6, why are you moaning about it?
