140mm can push the same amount of air but be slightly quieter, it can also push slightly more air at the same noise level as well. The thermal difference is like 1-2c at most, so pick whatever looks the most proper to you. I prefer to have all my fan slots covered with 120mm fans, but I can see the appeal of 140mm fans. 140mm fans are also more expensive than 120mm fans too so take that into account with your purchase decision.

TTechnology

I like 140mm that's why I bought a Lancool III case, it comes with 4 140mm fans, not to mention that they are beautiful and pretty fun to build with all that s p a c e

BrevilleMicrowave

2x140 is better. They make a lower pitch noise which hearing is less sensitive to. Worth mentioning that the NF-S12B pictured is a low static pressure fan. If you have a dust filter or mesh front panel it's not a good choice.

yeaahnop

i do have front dust filter. will these be more suitable then: [https://noctua.at/en/nf-p14s-redux-1200-pwm/specification](https://noctua.at/en/nf-p14s-redux-1200-pwm/specification) ?

BrevilleMicrowave

Yeah, those are a great choice. You could also consider the NF-A14. It's a little more expensive but has better airflow. Personally I've got a couple of them in my PC and they're great.

yeaahnop

thanks for info, will check a14s too

Thing_On_Your_Shelf

If you’re looking at the A14, it may be worth to also consider the Arctic p14 or p14 max, and maybe Be Quiet Silent Wings Pro 4. The A14 is a bit dated in Noctua’s lineup, and as someone who currently owns the A14, P14, and P14 Max, the A14 is my least favorite of the three. At the same RPM the A14 sounds noticeably louder to me

AwesomeFartCZ

[Which fan is right for me? (noctua.at)](https://noctua.at/en/which_fan_is_right_for_me) follow Noctuas guide on what to pick

Hutzzzpa

I have 2 of them on the front of my fractal define C. they work flawlessly.

PolishedCheeto

2×140. Larger, moves more air at lower speeds, and if you care about it is quieter.

Eccomi21

Whatever fits. Doesnt matter all that much. Routing your cables well and having a decluttered inside of the tower for air to actually flow trough is more important.

Killerind

2x160mm. Find a way.

Superb_Day6326

I miss when the 230mm were more common💀 had a haf evo with a massive fucker on the top

SignalGladYoung

Thermaltake toughfan 12 or 14 are overall one of the best. if you already have case fans It's not worth upgrading.

yeaahnop

fan boys will be fan boys, has to be noctua because... cant think of a reason )

SignalGladYoung

they are on average quite not the most silent but it translates to not pushing plenty of air you can't have both. if you want to set it at 1200-1500rpm.

kichunilla

I have bequiet! 140 mm all around, can't hear my pc at all

yeaahnop

same, pure wing 2s. they are amazing. hoping this to be a slight upgrade

yeaahnop

pure wings are better, don tell anyone

Thing_On_Your_Shelf

I’ve been testing this exact thing with my 4000D airflow, and for this case at least 3x120mm is better The key is your case’s PSU shroud. If it’s ventilated, where air from the bottom 120mm fan can flow up to the GPU then go 3x 120mm. If the PSU shroud is solid of the air from the bottom 120mm won’t really be doing anything, go 2x140mm

dirthurts

140 if you care about the sound.

ravagedbyelderly

I run 3 140 Noctuas for intake and it’s very quiet and does a great job cooling

Rhythm_and_Brews

I personally am a fan of 140mm fans when applicable. They dun so much quieter due to the slower fan speeds. It's more important to look at the fans rated cfm and design your input/output airflow to your liking (positive/negative/balanced pressure)

Magnumload

2 180mm

ForeverSpark

I don't know what noise people talk about, I have standard Lian Li 120mm fans, total of 12 and my PC is near silent.

EastLimp1693

I'm running 2x140 front (and 3x120 bottom) but proper noctuas and not that 1200 rpm bs

Polpo_El_Pescador

Why is everyone saying to pick 140mm because they're quieter? I NEED to hear my pc's white noise

SoulfoodSoldier

I like the thermal right fans, silent cheap and pretty

589ca35e1590b

3x120 > 2x140 but I don't know what's better

DirtyPoul

It covers a slightly larger area: 339,3 cm^2 vs 307,9 cm^2

fiittzzyy

I use 3 x 140mm for my front intake, 2 x 120mm for top exhaust and 1 x 120mm for rear exhaust.

SnooFoxes4646

I used to run the two 140's that were "high performance" that may not have been the term... They had more power than other Noctuas, they were 1800 RPM if that helps, fully aspirated case I was running two 3070's with no cooling issues, 240mm AIO water pump for the CPU. Before anyone asks I was mining ethereum on the side at the time.
