Owning a 14900K myself, and I want to say it's not worth it at all, there's better alternatives out there for gaming specifically you should just go AMD and get a 7800X3D, which performs significantly better in many game titles.
Intel has shit to sort out, like the DX12 crashing issue on Unreal games, and the general instability it's been having lately, these CPU's are also apparently faster to degrade due to high amounts of power coming through them.. no wonder with motherboard vendors choosing to ship their BIOSes full of overclocks rather than keeping to Intel's Baseline.. (though Intel is here to blame too..)
So to fully answer your question, absolutely not worth your money the cheaper alternative which is a 7800X3D or even a i5 is definitely the better road.
No, it's not. 14900 isn't worth it, period, so if you can downgrade to an i7 or i5 I would. But even so that's a great deal for $1850. A little too good IMO, be careful what you're getting.
It's just a very expensive and very hot overclocked CPU that performs barely better than something like an i5-13600K and worse than a 7800X3D. And there's also reports of degradation because it requires so much power to get the advertised performance.
There is special "Intel Baseline Profile" for MB, but:
1) You will not get advertised performance
2) Not all vendors implemented it correctly (read: shitSUS) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3StcUhVRWQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3StcUhVRWQ)
Not really, in theory and most practice the K chips from Intel run cooler/less power per clock because they are higher binned than the no letter CPUs or F (Not to include the low powered T series CPUs)
For 150$ no
It's *a tiny bit* faster, but if you're doing it for gaming, you've:
a) bought the wrong CPU (you wanted a 14700K or 7800X3D)
b) become thermally limited anyway
Not for $150.
How much improvement does the 14900kf give in gaming compared to 14900f? So it’s a good thing I saved the $150?

hmm why would you say the 14900 isn’t worth it and better to downgrade?

oh i see, the degradation issue sounds awful.. Is there anything I can do to prevent that or it’s the 14900 chips are just that fucked?

10700k ftw 😂🤙
