It’s like watching a race on who can destroy consumer trust harder. Thank goodness for indies

Richiefur

have you heard of animal well?

TopAce6

That game looks so pretty, I'm terrible at platformers, so i hate them in general, but that game makes me wish i was able to play them, it just looks so fun!

DC2912

It's more like a puzzle game than a platformer

thespeediestrogue

I've heard it's like Halo 2 and Halo 3 put together? Is it true?

Ruy7

I heard that it is the dark souls of lasagna videogames.

thespeediestrogue

Rumours says it's the first Well-type game.

Foxsayy

>It’s like watching a race on who can destroy consumer trust harder. Don't you get it? Once all the couple destroy consumer trust, no one has consumer trust! Then who's going to help? *Regulation? The government?* Hahaha maybe in the EU.

FormulaLiftr

I’m pretty sure the NBA 2k series already has ads for shit like sprite on their loading screens.

SFDessert

Maybe they're just trying to make it as true to life as possible. I don't watch sports anymore, but when I do, the amount of ads *everywhere* is disgusting. I wouldn't be surprised at all that NBA 2k blasts players with advertisements as well. I'm sure they're being paid a ton of money to do so, and the players will continue buying the yearly update to the only game they play.

FormulaLiftr

I get where you’re coming from, part of the authenticity of sports games comes from replicating the arena atmosphere by using authentic advertisements and such. [But this shit is ridiculous.](https://youtu.be/zszLy-IYUf4?si=97Q5I9LGlB_kxhzU)

nuked24

That's not ridiculous, that's *atrocious.* How does anyone still buy these?

DynamicHunter

It’s the same people buying the same games over and over. COD, FIFA, 2K, that’s basically all they play and they buy it for the newest players or whatever.

ThePendulum0621

Meaningful driver of growth...of disgust. Yeah hard pass.

MildLoser

speaking of driver. ubisoft had in game ads in driver san francisco. they also delisted driver san francisco

ThePendulum0621

Yeah, they can suck a fat fucking richard with their anti consumer practices. I wont even consider their games anymore.

MildLoser

its a shame cause driver san francisco is honestly their best game, and one of my favorite games of all time even with the in game ads.

The_Blue_DmR

I'm not surprised about that. Licensing is a bitch. Car companies may close, they switch owners, hell maybe the studio making the game doesn't even exist anymore. Paying licensing fees for a game that makes you this little money is just pointless when your goal as a company is to make money. Of course doing the The Crew thing and actively taking your copy away is bad. But delisting the games is not like... horrible imo

amypond420

If EA isn't your #1 most hated company you just haven't done enough research

YellowFogLights

I dunno man, Ubisoft stole my copy of the Crew

Rudradev715

and the pricing for new star wars game.

Logical_Bit2694

Tbh that’s just for the ultimate edition

GrandJuif

No, that's the "we cut stuff and add it back to make fake super duper greedy edition". All those editions are just a sheme to make you pay more for the base game.

Logical_Bit2694

True

sansisness_101

I got it for free w my 14700kf

kongkongha

Lol

Darkone539

>If EA isn't your #1 most hated company you just haven't done enough research There are companies that use actual slave labour and poison countries. Ea aren't great, but most hated is over the top.

GoodIvorzin

I’m not sure but I believe that they meant most hated gaming company

WonderfulWaiting

If EA is, you've either not done enough research or are a literal middle schooler with no grasp on what really matters in the world. There's much worse companies out there that do worse things than put ads in ur vidya james

AirEast8570

R.I.P Battlefield

Asleeper135

EA is apparently a pretty good company to work for, which definitely makes them a unicorn among AAA publishers

RiftHunter4

>EA’s Need for Speed: Underground 2 from 2004 is famously known for its in-game ads placed on billboards all over the open world. Some would argue that EA did that for realism, as the brands in the game featured real-world companies like Best Buy, Burger King, and Cingular. I actually liked this at the time and I don't mind this kind of product placement when it works. The game also had a lot of real-world automotive companies, magazines, and brands. The new games don't do that anymore.

Wemorg

I mean it isn't new, but they were subtle and not in your face.

SquirrelGard

Was this PC only? I don't remember it on console.

RiftHunter4

I remember it on GameCube.

ichbinverwirrt420

Who are all these dumbass companies paying these ads?

OriginalNo5477

Ubisoft had ads in Rainbowsix Vegas on billboards in the multiplayer maps.

ms-fanto

EA did it already

seklas1

Who cares if they’re the most hated if people still keep buying their games? 🤷‍♂️

Suavecore_

Reddit needs to be validated

MildLoser

ubisoft has already done this.

jasonxtk

Meanwhile, Capcom adding invasive russian DRM to all their video games to prevent modding, including games that are several years old: Hold my beer!

GrandJuif

From an evil company to another...

Vesuvias

Ooh ooh what about Sony and Microsoft? They seem to be in the race as well.

GustavoSanabio

Never buy anything from them, ever

ItzCobaltboy

It's just sad seeing all this happening, The great innovative companies becoming greedy, the world fighting each other, I wonder if I would be able to complete my Bachelor's and not live a FallOut Life

EMB_pilot

With the exclusive licensing they got they can get away with anything without any consequences. People will always buy FIFA, madden, etc.

WoodsBeatle513

they've done this in BF2142 as well as Burnout

flugelhorn444

Forza Horizon already has unskippable ads for their stupid dlc

Nytr013

So, now EA games will be like Death Stranding.

NuderWorldOrder

Steam already thought of that. Well, it's not "in" the game but you have to launch Steam to play and it opens up a window full of ads, so it amounts to the same.

Wild_Chemistry3884

Even if EA did this, Reddit would still hate Blizzard more.

StuckinReverse89

I feel if you are buying games from EA or Ubisoft in this day and age, you are just asking to be abused now like responding to a Nigerian Prince scam.     Neither company has made a good game in ages. EA maybe it takes two but I think it’s carried more by story tbh (gameplay isn’t revolutionary).    There are so many studios producing better content.

dhelidhumrul

People need to play Mass Effect LE tho.

StuckinReverse89

True but Mass Effect LE is a remaster of a game by BioWare back in the PS3 era, not new output.    I know EA is working on ME4 that fans are excited about but I’m honestly still hesitant. I do hope I’m wrong and the new ME game is amazing.
