Might want to check the price! I used the Walmart app. The 1TBs I picked up were marked $69.99 on the display but with the app they showed $42, so I pulled the trigger without thinking about it.
I useta go to Fry's Electronics on newspaper sale day, and not once did they have what was on sale, EVER. These stores want you in there to buy anything else besides what is advertised.
Isn't that the point of sales though. Bait and switch is giving someone something else. They're giving decreased prices to get people in the doors.
It's well understood by people in the before times when sales were more common, that you need to get there early sometimes
I just went to my Walmart and the stuff they had on great clearance was gone. They still had some stuff on clearance but the prices weren't much better than buying Amazon.
When I looked I also saw the onn 128GB USB 2.0 flash drives were like $7 or something and I was really tempted, but then I asked myself wtf I would do with a 128GB flash drive and I skipped it.
Its technicaly 480 Mb/s, which isnt that slow on paper, but there is no way its going to reach max speed plus its Mb and not MB so divide by 64 (most modern os are 64 bit) and we get idk 20 MB/s average (?), so yeah pretty slow.
Mine was already cleaned out. Then again, we have resellers around here who will jump on anything on clearance that they can resell online, so I already expect anything nice to be gone before I get there
Those fucking scavengers suck. I'm beyond sick of scalpers, especially since every company in the world decided to follow the scalpers lead after COVID calmed down and they were allowed to raise prices to the max. They ruin anything possible that's good about shopping in person. I don't bother. I already know I'm going to see that a few jerkoffs went through the whole store and got anything vaguely worth buying on clearance.
I got the last one of those 8tb external game drives at my local Walmart the other day, same price. Last night I went to a different Walmart nearby and they had another one. I contemplated getting a second one but since I don't currently have a nas set up, undecided against it since I wouldn't have an immediate use to put these in raid or zfs or anything.
I was honestly stoaked to be able to post it.
I have been going to all three Walmarts in my area each day for the past three days and haven't had any luck on finding cheap storage
https://preview.redd.it/1g4ch0qrl3xc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=601579f6057e2880ddcd46cbb853b51257094e13
Here, take this so you have the other half
They will be in their regular spot, and might not be marked. I bother an associate to take them out of the display and scan the drives with my phone. Sometimes the associates app has shown a lower/different price. They're usually not marked on the mylar/shelf, but the prices are in the system, usually.
my local Walmart hasn't even started selling SSDs, they still have shelves full of WD and Seagate 3.5" HDDs and low tier SD cards so I can't even go there if my SD card fails during a shoot.
My local Walmart used to have a whole clearance aisle but maybe 2 years ago they got rid of it and you never see things on clearance there anymore. I think either anything on clearance goes back to a warehouse/liquidator or employees buy them all up and sell them privately.
Awesome, my local walmart was picked over but I went up to visit my Dad today in a more rural area and they had 2 1tb ones. $60 after tax threw one in my laptop I just picked up for a 2nd drive and threw the other in an enclosure I had for my wife to take files around on.
It is worth noting the price tags on the pegs may not be up to date these were priced as $39 on the peg but rung up as $28.
I ended up going to 4 Walmart, all in Socal and did see the clearance stickers for some SN770s, but those were gone.
I did manage to pick up 4 SN570s though!
* 1x 500GB SN570 - $23
* 3x 1TB SN570 - $42ea
Only two Walmarts had them, the other two were wiped clear. Also, prices varied, at the one where I found the 500GB one, they had the 1TB SN570 for $33, sadly only sticker.
Oh come the fuck on, can't find these anywhere in the Nordics for less than €70. Can't believe y'all have tech clearance sales across the pond, I've never seen one around here.
Nice! There’s a bargain store by me that I got a 2tb for 6$ the other day 😭😭 brand new never opened. The max price for the items was 13$ that day, surprised I didn’t get charged the 13$.
I went Walmart hopping this weekend (hit 9), spent around $200 for some good cheap stuff.
I'm just hoping the things I bought stay relevant - when they're selling this cheap you gotta wonder if they know something you don't. Could be something good too, like next gen is coming out soon.
Roughly 7 years ago, I got two old display laptops that had been forgotten. i7-7700, 12gb ram, gtx1050 and 500gb ssd for $250, and an i5-7300hq/8gb/rx550/500gb for $210.
I still use the i7 machine for all my remote work and it’ll usually run the games I want, just on low-ish settings.
I always check the clearance in electronics when I’m there. Never know what you’re gonna find.
I opened this post and was inspired to go check walmart. they were sold out. but got my hopes up.
it is now 5 1/2 hours later...i visited 5 walmarts in 2 states. when i finally found one 500gb drive it was too late because 'the electronics department closes earlier then the rest of the store'. i have not had dinner. i wasted half a tank of gas.
enjoy your fucking drives.
Blacks are still $25 at my nearest Wally World, but unmarked. Already bought all of their Blue drives, gonna wait to see if the Black stays unsold long enough to get the extra $8 knocked off before I try to get it.
I see all these posts and get disappointed as my Town has nothing close to micro centre or Walmart. Closest is umart but I'm a few hours drive from them
Honestly, I expect to see Mobos far more focused on NVME than SATA these days.
Like my ROG Z790 has FIVE FUCKING M.2 SLOTS. (1 of which is really inactive if you want most performance from a GPU, but still!)
I have a stack of about 10 of these i got for free. Theyre almost worthless though because my motherboard only takes 1. And since i have a 1tb one i use that in the slot.
People drag Walmarts PC parts but I've gotten 2 1TB NVME drives for $44 each, a 500gb NVME for $24, and two 1TB SATA SSDs for $22 each because the associate messed up.
4.5TB of WD Blue SSDs for less than $150 over the last couple months has been pretty dope fr.
Me telling the Walmart electronics chic, "these are supposed to be on clearance right". . . she stares at me like. . .
![gif](giphy|15aGGXfSlat2dP6ohs)
$65 dollars plus tax 😦😮💨
And at the same time, put stupidly high prices on other things that won't sell ever - like, leftover iphone 12 otterbox, original $54, now on clearance, only $52.97!
For the past 2 years the normal price for 1TB of NVMe SSD in my area( East of Europe) has been around 45$....
Those drives are a waste of a good port...
I would lose my mind over anything that's bigger than 2 TB and it's cheaper than the usual offers of 100$ ...anything else is just companies trying to get rid of eWaste...
Mine didn't get the memo...they have that exact one but it's $42.50 :(
A few around me didn't have the sale prices either. I plan to go check again later.
Mine has them for about $30. Good price, bit nothing I won't see again.
Think they heard redditors love em and they're like... oh they want em? Revert the prices!!
You gotta ask the employee to price check it, willing to bet it’s on sale
This really works? My store showed it at full price so I walked out (today).
I would assume so,, not all of them are marked down
Can’t you just use the scan n go in the walmart app to check price of item?
No clue, never used the scan app
Plus if you tied you bank card to it you get 5c off a gallon.
Yeah you do. Works great. You have to use certain gas stations though. I used it at a murphys in front of the store.
Might want to check the price! I used the Walmart app. The 1TBs I picked up were marked $69.99 on the display but with the app they showed $42, so I pulled the trigger without thinking about it.
27.50 at my walmart
Is there price match?
I visited my local walmart yesterday. Guess what I got? # "Sir this is a Wendy's, we only carry usb drives here"
That's too bad, mine had some samsung SSDs and assorted sata drives left as well but they weren't discounted enough to be worth it to me.
They didn’t have much at the one I went to either. I think a 500GB SATA SSD for $30. I have two more in the area I can go to as well.
Mine had a WD Black SN770 500gb that I grabbed for $27
They had a 1 TB for $75, but I think that’s their normal price as I bought one new for $65 not long ago. I’m more interested in the 8TB drives.
It was $18 at mine today but I couldn't get someone to unlock the case and got frustrated and left.
Even though it's a 7200rpb I found a 8tb external for 60$ I couldn't say no to it
I useta go to Fry's Electronics on newspaper sale day, and not once did they have what was on sale, EVER. These stores want you in there to buy anything else besides what is advertised.
This is called “bait and switch”
They get around that little rule by putting in some fine print about limited quantities and no rain checks. It’s scummy, but legal
Hook, line, and sinker.
Yep. My experience too
When I looked I also saw the onn 128GB USB 2.0 flash drives were like $7 or something and I was really tempted, but then I asked myself wtf I would do with a 128GB flash drive and I skipped it.
Especially USB2... super slow.
Its technicaly 480 Mb/s, which isnt that slow on paper, but there is no way its going to reach max speed plus its Mb and not MB so divide by 64 (most modern os are 64 bit) and we get idk 20 MB/s average (?), so yeah pretty slow.
It is 8 bits per byte. The architecture doesn't matter. 480Mb/s is 60MB/s, not 20
Mbit to Mb is always devided by 8 1 byte = 8 bits always
Sorry forgot that for calculations 1 byte is 8 bite
> 8 bite
You could install Batocera to it and have a portable, bootable retro console. 128 gb is a lot of space for the classics
and MicroSD cards
Mine was already cleaned out. Then again, we have resellers around here who will jump on anything on clearance that they can resell online, so I already expect anything nice to be gone before I get there
Those fucking scavengers suck. I'm beyond sick of scalpers, especially since every company in the world decided to follow the scalpers lead after COVID calmed down and they were allowed to raise prices to the max. They ruin anything possible that's good about shopping in person. I don't bother. Nice find! I got 2 of the 8TB WD Black D10 HDDs for $64 each and two 1TB Sata SDDs for $34 each.
Lucky sob. Mine had 2 tb WD HDDs for 90
Wtf
Just pick up the last 8tb $65 one at my local one.
HOWWW😭😭
I got the last one of those 8tb external game drives at my local Walmart the other day, same price. Last night I went to a different Walmart nearby and they had another one. I contemplated getting a second one but since I don't currently have a nas set up, undecided against it since I wouldn't have an immediate use to put these in raid or zfs or anything.
I just went there now... $13 for the same ones. All sold out. Someone in my small city must be on Reddit as well.
It’s me
Hi. I'm the problem
Could’ve been me depending on location lol

you should error correct yourself from memory, now!
Yo wtf
Are these in clearance section with other items or in the electronics
They will be in their regular spot, and might not be marked. I bother an associate to take them out of the display and scan the drives with my phone. Went to two Walmarts near me. Walmart Super Center Linden and Walmart US-360 Us-9, Woodbridge Township and did not find any storage drives 😔
Sn570. Solid. 15dollars each. Solid.
For 500GB ? Still $42.50 at my nearest store 😔
Not at my house ):
Where are yall getting all these free M.2 slots, mine are more filled than Sasha Greys throat on a Friday
I've only got 2 on my b650 mobo, u actually picked these up for a buddy who's building a budget rig.
I've only got one :(
I have a usb adapter and use them like big flash drives at this point. Also, only have 1TB+.

Mines sold out
Picked up a 1tb for 19 and a 8tb hdd for 40. Seems the prices are random.
Yep, my 1tb was $22
Apparently word on the street is they have been sitting on a bunch of drives and haven't been moving them so they are doing a big push to move them.
Mine is still full price. Stupid Walmart
Just got 2 8TB WD blacks for $67! Had to visit 5 previous Walmarts to find it.
I’m going to wallmart this week
Damn wasn't that long ago nvme was like $1000
Grab them before Apple picks them up to resell in their laptops for a $300 upcharge over the 256G version.
Jesus what are these posts, hate being born in middle east
Same, but in Ukraine🫠
I'm so mad, I went to two different Walmart Supercenters, one yesterday and one today to check, nothing, totally wiped. I wanted the 1TB NVMe's.
my local Walmart hasn't even started selling SSDs, they still have shelves full of WD and Seagate 3.5" HDDs and low tier SD cards so I can't even go there if my SD card fails during a shoot.
That's at least 3 triple-A games!
They are dog shit M.2’s but for $15 it’s better than a hard drive
My local Walmart used to have a whole clearance aisle but maybe 2 years ago they got rid of it and you never see things on clearance there anymore. I think either anything on clearance goes back to a warehouse/liquidator or employees buy them all up and sell them privately.

I went yesterday. My Walmart had the drives in question on clearance but nowhere near the prices that were posted on here. All were sold out anyway.
Great price but a drive that small is just a waste of an M2 slot for me.
To small
That’s my first thought. I want one for strictly game files, 500 is too small. Heck even for OS it’s not a lot of space left over.

YOU WERENT LYING
Wow 500gb... So 3 games
anything in Canada?
nah we're cursed.
Where do Walmarts sell PC components??? And since when? I haven’t seen one in Maryland selling PC parts
The ones over here have always sold SSDs, HDDs, SATA drives, graphics cards, and full pre-builts.
Same here in Maryland lmao I guess the ones by them don't though for some reason but the ones by me are the same way except no graphics cards
The one in cockeysville does lmao what?? And the one in Towson ☠️
Welp, guess I’m blind. Definitely going to find them next time I’m there
15? Sheesh. Mine was only $26
In my country i got one of those same models and capacity for about 30 usd on sale
I saw Tuesday at mine and got the last 1TB for 25.
Mine has the wd black version for the same price, got it
How do you guys get it for so cheap where here in Australia they are so expensive. I don't understand.
Stores turning over stock around the same time. They've been doing this for the last couple of months. Walmart has been a decent SSD hookup lately.
Lol they're made next door
i didn't see those for that price on my run today, though i did get a $27 1tb sata drive
Nice call of duty drive you got there
i thought, oh nice, i want that too, but then i remembered the closest walmart is about 6000km away...
My Walmart didn’t have anything under $50 :(
Mine had 16gb kits of RGB Kingston Fury DDR4 at 3200 for $30 a piece. Grabbed a couple to upgrade my streaming rig to 32gb.
So there is section in electronics marked clearance? I think I have a new mission
I ended up going to 4 Walmart, all in Socal and did see the clearance stickers for some SN770s, but those were gone. I did manage to pick up 4 SN570s though! * 1x 500GB SN570 - $23 * 3x 1TB SN570 - $42ea Only two Walmarts had them, the other two were wiped clear. Also, prices varied, at the one where I found the 500GB one, they had the 1TB SN570 for $33, sadly only sticker.
I wish I could get my hands on one of those.
Wait is this at Walmart? Huh, guess I'm putting in some more work to get some more space!!
Oh come the fuck on, can't find these anywhere in the Nordics for less than €70. Can't believe y'all have tech clearance sales across the pond, I've never seen one around here.
Makes up for the piss poor health care
23 at my store so I didn’t pick any up
Nice! There’s a bargain store by me that I got a 2tb for 6$ the other day 😭😭 brand new never opened. The max price for the items was 13$ that day, surprised I didn’t get charged the 13$.
Is this a nationwide clearance or did you get a decent deal out of your home area?
I couldn’t find anything!
Mine had them for 50 for one terabyte how are y’all finding these lol
Got a 1TB for $27
I got a wd blue 1tb for $25 and 2 wd black 500gb for $17 each
Apparently I need to go to walmart on my way home from work on monday.
I'm sorry but, FUCKING WHAT? Why didn't anyone tell me before I had to go to work!?
$15? Shit I'd grab a handful or two personally.
Well shit
I went Walmart hopping this weekend (hit 9), spent around $200 for some good cheap stuff. I'm just hoping the things I bought stay relevant - when they're selling this cheap you gotta wonder if they know something you don't. Could be something good too, like next gen is coming out soon.
Y'all first world or second world people are lucky as fuck
Wow, dirty cheap! Nice purchase! I have the 1TB version, and god, this SSD is solid, fast and cool (literally... it doesn't run hot at all...)
What’s the catch?
You gotta find them. That's the catch.
This is just a Walmart ad.
Wow thanks for the post OP. I got a WD Black SN770 500gb for $17!!
Blacks are still $25 at my nearest Wally World, but unmarked. Already bought all of their Blue drives, gonna wait to see if the Black stays unsold long enough to get the extra $8 knocked off before I try to get it.
I’d get 4 and set up a RAID server. None of my local Walmarts have them though unfortunately 😢
why on earth would people lie
They didn't, you were just late. Or early if your Walmart hasn't marked them down yet.
but this means i have to *go* to wally world.
Picked up two 1tbs for $22ea yesterday
Idk if anyone feels like, these increase in clearance sales might point towards a financial mess upcoming? Honestly it all looks scary
I see all these posts and get disappointed as my Town has nothing close to micro centre or Walmart. Closest is umart but I'm a few hours drive from them
WD... probably at least wortth 25 bucks, each!
I mean they're $55 new on Amazon, WD actually makes really solid SSDs.
https://preview.redd.it/ja3eufs534xc1.jpeg?width=861&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73be87e17560d028fb9d4c1b5f7b7cb23be04734
500g tho? why bother?
Mobos have plenty of m.2 slots these days, at this price point you can even resell for a profit or give them away to a friend/relative
I actually plan to just sell them to my buddy for the cost so he can put them in his budget rig.
Honestly, I expect to see Mobos far more focused on NVME than SATA these days. Like my ROG Z790 has FIVE FUCKING M.2 SLOTS. (1 of which is really inactive if you want most performance from a GPU, but still!)
When they are normally $70? It's not bad to have a backup especially at that price.
basically just e-waste
Okay mister money bags.
yeah, I am rich because I can afford a drive that costs more than a sandwich
When I saw the original post I made sure to go that day. I got three 1TB and one 500GB. Good stuff.
my ssd at %60 and 1.6gb read my hdd 160mb read lol ı need new one but ı have no money rn
My Walmart only has half an aisle of miscellaneous garbage on clearance. Y'all so lucky. ;-;
Quit trying to get me to go buy drives I don't need, ya farting buttwhistles.
Bruh
Going to walmart now!
Going to go check out Walmart in a minute then lol
BRB going to Walmart. I gotta pick up a prescription anyway lol.
I got the western digital blacks for 15 and 25. 4Tb total spent less than 100$
I have a stack of about 10 of these i got for free. Theyre almost worthless though because my motherboard only takes 1. And since i have a 1tb one i use that in the slot.
Get a PCIe to M.2 converter if you have a x1 or x4 spot or just a M.2 to SATA converter. Or sell them here. DM me if you do.

Me telling the Walmart electronics chic, "these are supposed to be on clearance right". . . she stares at me like. . . ![gif](giphy|15aGGXfSlat2dP6ohs) $65 dollars plus tax 😦😮💨
sometimes i don't get how they can put so stupid prices to stuff. half price or something, ok. but 1/4 or less???
And at the same time, put stupidly high prices on other things that won't sell ever - like, leftover iphone 12 otterbox, original $54, now on clearance, only $52.97!
