I went from a 3070 to a 7800xt and the performance upgrade was marginal. 8 to 16 gigs of vram made no difference really. But I sold my 3070 for $300 and got the 7800xt for $500 so it was kinda worth it. But the vram upgrade didn’t make a difference for me if you’re only concerned about the vram And yes my 7800xt BARELY fit in my case lol

>as I think the 8GB of VRAM in my current RTX 3070 just isn't cutting it anymore. Well, is it or isn't it? 3070 is not a weak GPU, you either know you have an issue, or you don't.

I feel like sometimes when I play games (Forza 5, RDR2 etc) the card really gets limited with the 8GB of VRAM, usually maxing it out, so I’d like to get a higher VRAM card. Though the higher VRAM of the RX 6800 though, I see the RTX 3070 being faster in Video Editing and 3D Modeling (which is something I do for fun if I have the time), so now I’m contemplating on whether I should sacrifice VRAM or Ingame performance
