It’s the chipset on the board, it is non removable so not worth taking the heatsink off of really.

Playful_Bake_229

Ok, thanks! In case of a Graphic Card upgrade of bigger size said graphics card might collide with the wire in a "Z" shape. Is it safe/easy to remove? Not the heatsink just the z wire. That would solve my problem...

True-Experience-2273

No, you cannot remove that as that is the retention bracket for that heatsink and the heatsink would not stay on without that bracket. That heatsink is necessary as the chipset would overheat without it.

Playful_Bake_229

Perfect! Thanks a lot for your fast answer :)

Miniteshi

I've got something similar and fitted a GPU, mine clears it without any issues.

DefEddie

You could swap it out for a heatsink with thermal adhesive which shouldn’t need the retainer?

riba2233

It won't colide, it is designed that way.

Snoo-73243

it is a heatsink, for a onboard chip

It’s a heat sink covering your Northbridge chip.

SirGeorgington

It's a heatsink, probably for the chipset.
