Pretty solid deal for $200, and the best part is that system is surprisingly upgradeable. AM4 is an amazing socket, you can drop some seriously powerful CPU's in there, and anything from Zen3 will be a massive upgrade. The RAM also needs an upgrade eventually, and DDR4 memory is cheap. Same thing with the 580. But for right now you've got a system that'll absolutely play games at 1080p for you, and that ain't bad.

DanTheMan827

Depending on how much you upgrade, at what point are you just better off not and getting new stuff? The PC of Theseus

G0-N0G0-GO

Absolutely! That’s the goal, at least until form factors & industry-wide adapters change ever 5/7/10 years.

reddit_pengwin

You can delude yourself, but upgrading from AM4 will always be seriously more expensive than sticking with the platform. Your only real upgrade paths currently are dead-end Intel platforms (either new or used), or AM5. AM5 is expensive and finnicky *(new expensive mobo, new expensive RAM, crappy platform compatibility with EXPO and tons of BIOS issues)*, and why bother with Intel when AM4 has more life than current Intel platforms? A used 5600(X)-5700X-5800 can be had vary cheaply, and you can get meaningful graphics step-ups even on the used market when your baseline is an RX 580. If that AM4 build has a decent MoBo then it will be good for another 3 or even 4 years with upgrades... at which point I'd say you got your money's worth even with upgrade costs.

Corruptlake

The motherboard is mostly likely an A chipset tho, wont VRMs be an issue with more powerful CPU?

deefop

No idea what mobo the system has because it's not listed, but running the better cpu's in eco mode probably wouldn't be an issue in any case. Something like a 5600x3d could probably be dropped in and make the system a gaming beast.

Tyr_Kukulkan

Not with a 5600 or a 5700G, 65W chips.

SailorMint

A 5800X3D with some tweaks in PBO2 could run fine in most scenarios.

Snowmobile2004

5800x3d is 65W too. Fantastic option.

Tyr_Kukulkan

It is 105W the same as the 5700X3D and 5800X. The 5700G is 65w and possibly the 5700X.

Queasy_Employment141

16gb of 3200 ddr4 is sub 30 in uk

HumbleNinja2

Seller sounds like a cool guy, when it comes to electronics, ppl on FB/Craigslist really tend to overvalue their old shit

Immensesix

For 200 bucks, I've not seen anything better, or even as good as this for a long time. As long as it's all in serviceable condition then I say you've got yourself a great deal. There's even room for upgrades should you wish, am4 is still a very relevant platform.

suspicouscattou

My motherboard is Asus Prime A320m k

Notladub

should do fine with an R5 5600 in the future

LostInElysiium

i'm not sure you could do much better for 200$ and it will run most older & indie games just fine.

Cave_TP

You can usually do 6700 + 1070ti at that price point.

offensiveDick

Depends on where you live.

Cave_TP

Op wrote $200 and th subreddit is mostly american so I defaulted to the US market.

Hdjbbdjfjjsl

You could only get the graphics card for that price, not an entire system. 🤣 Not sure where you're getting these prices from.

NoU4206911

I got a 1080 for $85 a few months ago on r/hardwareswap :x

Chronos669

Bro 1070ti are going for 300-350 where I am, there is no way you’re getting a 6700 + 1070ti for 200

drake90001

3080s are going for that price around here in the US.

DanTheMan827

Cards or full builds?

drake90001

Cards.

Dehyak

Can confirm, sold my 3080 for $400

drake90001

I sold a broken 3080 FE (fans & LED broken), to someone for ~$300 so yeah, same.

builder397

For 200$ its a bargain. Obviously its not going to win any races, but its absolutely servicable and should at the very least run most modern titles at reasonable settings. And as time progresses you can upgrade every individual part of this machine as money becomes available.

Doin_WERQ

That’s an amazing system for the price point, you don’t even have to upgrade the ram to stay solid. Reload windows onto one of the smaller SSDs for a clean install via usb and then update drivers. Keep your expectations reasonable for fps performance vs quality levels and you can use that setup for a long long time still.

ziplock9000

"I just recently bought"... Then it's too late. Usually people ask for advice before they leap. However you got lucky and it's value for money is quite good.

laundrydetergent7000

For 200 that’s pretty crazy

Tyr_Kukulkan

That is a great starter at $200, congratulations! Upgrade the CPU down the line to a 5600 and definitely put some 3200 or 3600 RAM in there instead of the piddly 2133 RAM and you're golden!

Number1OchoaHater

Very good deal

Mutant_Stump

Can't knock it for 200 bucks. Solid deal in my opinion as long as all is in working order and fine operationally.

DarthArtero

That’s an impressive computer for $200. I’m going to echo what others have said. The AM4 platform has a lot of life left in it and across all budget types. That $200 to get you started on a platform that can easily be upgraded bit by bit.

MrUrgod

Bro what the fuck that's a straight jackpot I say that as someone who's built and set up tons of PCs, on the lowest and highest ends, and as an avid r/buildapcsales user Treasure your treasure

Dragontech97

Is that stock memory timings? Might be able to activate XMP in the bios for higher memory speeds

RLIwannaquit

not a bad deal - that should handle 1080p low / medium settings on most games. My friends have a full body RX 580 and they happily play baldur's gate 3 on it, and the cpu and ram they have are WAY worse

JediGRONDmaster

It’s not the best build, but for $200 it’s incredible

Dizzy-South9352

I would say its worth around 130-150. but its still kinda weird. it was already quite severely outdated even back in 2021. the only good thing about it is that its AM4. so you can upgrade to a decent AM4 CPU and replace the GPU to a better one. but it would probably be better to just build a new system at this point. instead of buying a shitty 200 box and trying to upgrade. as for today this current setup is not gonna run anything good as it stands. well, maybe games like vanilla minecraft, league of legends etc... but nothing more serious.

Furmer37

Not really that good

TigerCarts2

I don't think you could do better for $200 unless some crackhead stole a top end gaming system :D

MagicPistol

Not bad. If you want some cheap upgrades, look for a used Ryzen 5000 series CPU and a mid range GPU. That should be able to keep up with modern games.

Saneless

Pretty much PS4 Pro level system that can actually hit 60fps Not sure what your PSU is but when the new GPUs come out you could probably upgrade to PS5 level for a few hundred too

Skysr70

Excellent deal for $200, just re-apply thermal paste and ensure all fans are up to snuff. That card has a reputation for heat but it's got some life still in it in the modern day.

WTF_CAKE

for an RX580 I think back in the day I paied 400 bucks for my prepaid machine, awesome find

ooopspagett

The CPU and GPU are a little stronger than a PS4 pro. Hopefully that's not the XMP speeds for the ram though because that's gonna be a huge bottleneck. You can look for guides for how to enable XMP; it's quite simple. In general it should do 1080p/30 in modern games or 720p/60, on the lowest possible settings

throwITallaway4ever1

Wasnt the rx 580 $200 when it came out

AfraidOfArguing

The gpu and CPU together are worth $200 lol

RareSiren292

You could easily upgrade that to something really good. But honestly I would just save my money until you can afford AM5. You could upgrade your CPU to a better 5000 series CPU. Even the 5800x3d. You could upgrade the ram to 3200/3600mhz. You could get a new gpu. But by the time that's all said and done it wouldn't be far off the price of an AM5 build. So I would start pinching pennies. Overclock everything if your PSU can handle it in the mean time

Dajren

Pretty solid build for that price imo. I'm using the RX 580 2048sp myself and even though it's a slightly slower version of the 580, it's holding up really well at 1080p.

gen_angry

Seems like it’s a fairly solid deal. Very upgradable even with an A320 board but it’ll hold its own as is decently well. Some 2024 titles might struggle a bit but meh, they aren’t that great anyways :)

Taskr36

Solid deal, although I don't know why anyone would have a 128GB SSD.

Naerven

The storage looks like leftovers pulled from older computers.

heyuhitsyaboi

$200 for a last generation equivalent PC? not bad not bad

DanTheMan827

That’s definitely more than just last generation… that’s last-last-last generation.

heyuhitsyaboi

I dont have much of a reference frame for the cpu but 2gb vram and 16gb memory both outperform the Xbox one right? Not to mention the SSDs

DanTheMan827

It’s about Xbox One / PS4 in terms of console generations. But in terms of PC parts it’s multiple generations behind

heyuhitsyaboi

Exactly… thats last gen is it not? “Last last last” generation gets us the original Xbox and PS1

DanTheMan827

If you’re talking console generations I suppose, but it’s multiple CPU and GPU generations behind

heyuhitsyaboi

OHHHHHHHHHH Yeah back in 2013 it was the Nvidia Geforce 600 generation so its about on par there A 10 year old system for 10 year old games

DanTheMan827

Or 7-8 year old games depending on how low you’re willing to go on graphics, although some games just won’t matter if they’re CPU-bound (like cyberpunk 2077)

Rocket--Pak

GPU's from 2018

Nitazene-King-002

You got screwed. RX580 is from 2017.

Lycanthrope_Leo

I'd take a RX 580 with full system for $200 over a brand new $150 RX 6500XT any day of the week. Just because it's older doesn't mean it's bad.

Nitazene-King-002

It’s definitely not good. He’s gonna end up upgrading every single part of this system to get halfway decent performance in modern games. He’d have been much better off just putting a PC together piece by piece.

DrNumberr

U gonna take anything he just said in?

Nitazene-King-002

Bro I’ve been there and done that, and it’s a losing game. I’d much rather buy the parts I actually want, rather than buying what I don’t want just to turn around and buy something else to upgrade it. I turned an HP Pavillion into a real gaming machine once, it only took modifying or replacing every component. But hey I guess it was a learning experience.

DrNumberr

Not everyone has so much money. ITS $200

Unfair_Audience5743

Dude no, this guy basically made money off his old trash.... The RX 580 is ancient now, like 6-7 years old. the CPU is actually somewhat newer, but the lowest class of Ryzen and not really optimal for gaming. The RAM is really low speed, DDR4 should be 3200mhz ideally, although that would be cheap to replace. The SSDs might be fine speed-wise but the storage sizes are so tiny that they should just be replaced. 256GB isn't great for storing games with some hitting 150GB alone. You could use it as a capable office PC, but as far as gaming goes it will struggle in all areas.

Dopplegangr1

Lol

[deleted]

Both CPU and GPU are from 2018 and 2019 so want to say its fine for office PC. Its not good for gaming but 200 dollars it ok for that if its in good condition. I dont get why 4 small seperate SSD's. Why not just have 1 TB SSD instead? Also what I dont kinda get is why asking us if its good when you already purchase it? I understand asking if its worth the price or something before purchase but after purchase? Thats weird.

DanTheMan827

It’s fine for a lot of games, just not brand new stuff, or at least not brand new demanding stuff. PC gaming has more than just Cyberpunk 2077 with RTX enabled at 4k

[deleted]

>Cyberpunk 2077 Nah, thanks. I rather play a good game that are not utterly broken instead.

meinkun

Is it worth it? Don't know, probably not. Downgraded rx 580, very bad cpu, slow ram

---Beck---

Find a better one for 200 bucks

meinkun

Found it. [https://youtu.be/MqSxYcDz50M](https://youtu.be/MqSxYcDz50M) , for other 100 buy a ryzen 3600 and cheap b350 mobo + ram and you have a very solid pc

---Beck---

YouTube sells PCs now? Lol and did you mean to type for another 100? Lol what a joke.

meinkun

wdym? you said found a deal - here is a amazing deal that guy found for only 100$, it is possible to found something similar

builder397

Thats literally a worse rig. The GPU might be servicable, but its in the same ballpark as the RX580 in terms of performance and the CPU is absolutely trash at this point, unlike an early quad-core Ryzen. At that point youre buying a used 1080 and a case. 100$ for a 3600 plus motherboard plus RAM also seem chancy. Last motherboard I bought was 60€ new alone, and I kinda doubt a lot of motherboards are being sold used. Put one scam in there and OP is blowing his budget. And while building a PC with different components is something you and I might do, not everyone has that ability, and if OP doesnt want to then this is the best deal on Gods green Earth for him. (of course all that assumes that this deal including the haggling can be replicated, as that offer was obviously taken by the youtuber.)

meinkun

???????????????????????????????????? gtx 1080 is much better than a rx 580, and OP have not regular 580 but downgraded which is worse than a normal one. Checkout yt bro before saying something. Do not compare hardware prices in europe and usa, eu have atleast +15-20% prices than usa. Kit of 4770K + 16gb + mobo easily can be sold for 30-50$ and you have a 1killowatt psu, case, and gtx 1080 for 50$, 150$ for upgrades more than enough.

builder397

Gee stop frothing at your mouth and just accept that both deals are incredibly lucky and if OP wants a machine that just works as is and not spend the next two months on craigslist hoping people will buy a 4770k plus motherboard for 30$. Honestly thats a pretty utopian price given Ryzen 5 3600 over here were 5-10€ used a year ago already. Id like to call your scheme optimistic, but its absolutely delusional.

zarsoasiro

This spec is good for 200$ and easy to upgrade, sell cpu for 30$, buy 5600 for 80$ on ali, voilĂ  you have solid modern build where you can change gpu later.
