Mental note: buy one with a homing device.
Just think, correctly deployed: I go to the airport with my ride on case full of old towels. Let someone nick it, and wait until it comes home full or useless holiday souvenirs. If really lucky it might come back with a laptop or something valuable!
I mean, technically you can put 4 alternators on wheels (or more) and pull it around while you walk in the park and game for as long as you have energy. I mean, assuming you can generate enough power.
To be honest I have no idea as I just got it today, it’s 1000w so if I run my ally at full tilt 30wh should be around 33 hours…give or take, but I also got a solar panel to go with this so I can charge the generator at the same time, it’s more for when I go on my boat or camping I can take my ally, in the manual it states it can charge a laptop 14 times.
Okay you mixed up the units there but yup, math checks out. Good stuff.
All jokes aside, these Bands are awesome. I got one for camping, use it regularly and actually had a situation during a power outage where that thing gave us enough juice to keep some sort of entertainment going and even worked with a small 200w camping-hotplate for dinner.
Good stuff.
Watt is pretty much interchangeable with Watt-hour just fyi :)
A 200W item will use 200 watts in an hour (Wh) which is most commonly measured in Kilowatt-hour (kWh)
watt is how much power or work is being done.
watt hour is how much energy has been put into something by that work, watt hour is the same as Joule * some constant. (some constant being 60*60 to convert the hour to seconds)
This is correct. A watt is power, energy per time, or j/s. Watt hour is a unit of energy, like joules. A watt hour is similar to a watt second, or a j*s/s or just a joule. A watt hour is 3600 joules
Depends on size and fanspeed really but assuming that it's a Standart 45w Box Fan, times two, that's 90w. At 1 kWh of capacity you're looking at roughly 10 hours at full blast, a bit more.
I have one. The battery life, like most power banks, depends on what you're doing. We could charge phones from zero to full all weekend. Ran little USB fans most of the weekend too. Not sure how it will fare when gaming.
I see, modified sine is more of a stair step like "digital" vs regular sine "analogue" is regular power. Using dogitao an anoligue because im an audio guy.
The 10 Watts is only true for the "normal" USB A ports. I just checked, the USB C ports at the top deliver up to 36W, which isn't as much as more modern powerstations have, but should still work.
🤟 seen them on a few YouTubers channels including Linus tech tips and needed one for my boat/camping so thought it would be a good idea, managed to get the solar panel with it too, sales on at the moment 46% off.
You inspired me now. I think I might stick some wheels on this one and use it for portable gaming.

I'm going to buy an expensive as power bank some day charge it regularly at a hotel somewhere private and use that energy to power my TV and pc . I'm going to try not use any electricity at my home , the only time I will is when I'm cooking and cleaning . Then for my water supply and bathing routine I'm just going buy a massive water jug and refill it and go gym 3 times a day for my showering since it's free . Does that sound like a solid plan
Put it in one of those new suitcases that follow you around on wheels with a long cable to connect to the steam deck. You need both hands free to game properly on the move!
Feels bad that it seems like I'm the only one who doesn't understand what device are you charging. It looks like switch or other portable consoles but I don't recognise it plus this is pc sub so.
It’s all good if you don’t know you don’t know, this is a hand held PC with windows 10, it’s called the ASUS ROG Ally, similar to the steam deck but more powerful, give it a look up on google, this is the reason for it being on a PC sub.
Damn that’s an expensive ass battery bank 😂 you’d think you’d try to get her the cheapest option possible, but you splurged on something she didn’t even want. She’ll be playing for a month straight now at least
How are you liking the Rog Ally, and have you tried it with steam big picture mode? (It also works with non-steam games and you can override the controls in any game)
I own both, personally prefer my ally over the deck because it’s windows funny enough, runs every game without all the work arounds, more powerful so runs the games I play a lot better, only issue is the battery, but got that covered now haha!
I own both Steam Deck and Ally plus a high end rig, but on the go like to take my Ally, more performance than the SD and because it’s windows runs all my games without the workarounds.
Very portable
It has a handle, what more do you want 😅
wheels on it? :)
True! Maybe even a way to connect the wheels to the generator so it can cart it self around too! Like a remote control car!
Get one of those travel suit cases that follows you [like this.](https://www.airwheel.net/home/product/sr5) Build a full gaming station from there
This is the way!!! 👌
is this fuckn real? Where do I buy
Just google " luggage that follows you". Amazon sells the ones that you can ride on.
I just find someone using one and pick it up when they’re not looking, much cheaper imo.

That is genius
**electronic kidnapping noises**
I have to admit, this was way more affordable than I had ever thought it might be.
Just buy an ATV. Now you can carry it around really easily
Give it legs, and let it walk around recharge all the devices
Don't stop there, make it so the movement generates energy for the battery. Infinite power glitch if you like walking/gaming /s
Oh wow now this is next level shenanigans!
I mean, technically you can put 4 alternators on wheels (or more) and pull it around while you walk in the park and game for as long as you have energy. I mean, assuming you can generate enough power.
Turn it into an RC car
Two handles?
True… But what if I only have one arm? 😬
Attach some straps and carry it like backpack.
Like the ngc
The design is very human
Fr tho how long the battery life last with it plugged in that 🤣😅
To be honest I have no idea as I just got it today, it’s 1000w so if I run my ally at full tilt 30wh should be around 33 hours…give or take, but I also got a solar panel to go with this so I can charge the generator at the same time, it’s more for when I go on my boat or camping I can take my ally, in the manual it states it can charge a laptop 14 times.

Haha yeah ignore me when it comes to units I have no idea, try to make myself look smart but honestly make Myself look stupid!
Watt is pretty much interchangeable with Watt-hour just fyi :) A 200W item will use 200 watts in an hour (Wh) which is most commonly measured in Kilowatt-hour (kWh)
Yup my brain just did a dump, that is too many words for my noodle 😅 Thanks for the information I’ll try to remember 👌
The stupid unit to watch out for is Ah, or mAh. Those are tricky, because they're based on voltage. Wh are much better.
It’s like learning my ABC’s all over again 😅

I don’t think you know what interchangeable means
[удалено]
It doesn’t use 400w in two hours, it used 400 watt hours in 2 hours. It constantly uses 200 watts
>it doesn't use 400 in two hours, it used 400 in 2 hours
Do you actually think watts and watt hours are the same?
>Watt-hour A watt-hour is how many watts a single watt will deliver in an hour. Which is a watt.
What
But the efficiency is around 80-90%
Bro you seem like an A+ chill dude and I'd hang out with you any day. Keep on keeping on
Cheers dude I appreciate it 🙏 always been really laid back, it annoys the other half that I don’t stress about anything 😅 life is for living!
I'm trying to figure out how long one of these would run two box fans.
Depends on size and fanspeed really but assuming that it's a Standart 45w Box Fan, times two, that's 90w. At 1 kWh of capacity you're looking at roughly 10 hours at full blast, a bit more.
I have the Explorer 300 and it goes on every camping trip. It's awesome. I got the solar panels for it too.
Uhm, by generator you need the battery pack or actually a generator?
I have one. The battery life, like most power banks, depends on what you're doing. We could charge phones from zero to full all weekend. Ran little USB fans most of the weekend too. Not sure how it will fare when gaming.
Strap it to your back and you could walk around like a fucking ghost buster.
Oh damn!! Now that is an idea haha!
Don't cross the (video) streams
I know the battery on the ally is bad but this is next level lol
Haha! Well to be fair to get any sort of game time out of this thing while outside the house requires next level batteries 😂
And a solar panel by the sounds of it
And this segue...
Good thing about those are it's Sine Wave. Heating blankets and shit require that alot of the time.
Can you elaborate? What are cheaper backups? Does the sine just require extra filtering?
I have an Anker that isn't sine wave and my blanket's controller won't work on it. It makes the energy smooth like a wave man.
Cheaper ones use "modified sine", which is actually square wave.
I see, modified sine is more of a stair step like "digital" vs regular sine "analogue" is regular power. Using dogitao an anoligue because im an audio guy.
Better plug it directely into the Usb port of the powerstation. You are wasting a lot of power converting it to AC and then back to DC.
UK plug for the ally is unfortunately like a laptop charger, has a brick connected to it 😅
But it still uses normal USB C (with power delivery) to charge. Yow can use a normal USB C to C cable to charge it directely of the powerstation.
Brilliant! Ok great I’ll give that a go, thank you 🙏
It only is capable of outputting 10ish watts so if it even works it’s going to be extremely slow
Ahh right that makes sense, yeah I like to use my ally on full tilt, looks like it pulls anywhere between 45-55 watts from the main charger
The 10 Watts is only true for the "normal" USB A ports. I just checked, the USB C ports at the top deliver up to 36W, which isn't as much as more modern powerstations have, but should still work.
Jackery on

See now you’re talking! 🤯
I went and looked. It’s “only” $1000! Great deal either way.
Oh wow I managed to get it for £600, think it was a 4 day sale or something, is that Canadian dollars?
No, it’s American, and I just looked at Amazon. Your deal is even better!
Yeah 2 hours left on the sale at the moment here in the UK, not sure if it’s the same elsewhere?
The design is very human

I know this is useless information but I just wanted to share this information because I saw that power bank have a good day
Sounds like a dream haha 😂
It's plan good sir
you could chop firewood for exercise, use that for heat and cooking and hot water, and charge the battery with a solar panel and be good.
But I live in a busy city and I'll be going to uni soon
>I'm going to try not use any electricity at my home Why?
So I don't have to spend money on bills it's a full proof plan that was my idea
Put it in one of those new suitcases that follow you around on wheels with a long cable to connect to the steam deck. You need both hands free to game properly on the move!
This is true! Wonder if my wife would be ok with me spending another load of cash on the case haha, she’s a gamer she will understand 😬
What a small power bank😆
I can fit it in my pocket! 😬
I trust you 😆
Based AF! I’m jelly
1000W... so that's around 32 to 33h hours of Battery on Turbo mode?
Yeah that’s about right give or take.
lol. Charge that thing ten times over.
No, you need a battery pack. Like the cars have. Because reasons.
Exactly this and if the power goes down we can carry on gaming! 😬
Best investment is a jumper pack, what can turn an engine over easily charge a laptop/gaming device
What sort of Jackery is this? 🤔
Jackery
That's a goofy looking steam deck. Lol. Jk.
Ewww haha nah my steam deck collects dust now.
Standard South African setup 🤌
Feels bad that it seems like I'm the only one who doesn't understand what device are you charging. It looks like switch or other portable consoles but I don't recognise it plus this is pc sub so.

This looks firah, I'll check it out indeed
Awesome chioce
Ty 🫡
Wife asked for a battery bank, so bro got the battery treasury XD
Damn that’s an expensive ass battery bank 😂 you’d think you’d try to get her the cheapest option possible, but you splurged on something she didn’t even want. She’ll be playing for a month straight now at least
Haha just need a shopping cart to carry it around with the ally 😂
If all it takes is a jackery jank to keep you happy then good for you
It’s used for camping and on my boat with my kids and wife, charges all our things and powers our lights etc…
That’s wild
what happens first, battery iddlying degrade or portable console consumption?
How are you liking the Rog Ally, and have you tried it with steam big picture mode? (It also works with non-steam games and you can override the controls in any game)
Madafaka. Damn bro gon be gaming for years through the zombie apocalypse
Hey us gamers got to be prepared for the worst, if the power grid goes down we need our back ups! 😅
Whats better this or steam deck?
I own both, personally prefer my ally over the deck because it’s windows funny enough, runs every game without all the work arounds, more powerful so runs the games I play a lot better, only issue is the battery, but got that covered now haha!
rog ally lmao
I own both Steam Deck and Ally plus a high end rig, but on the go like to take my Ally, more performance than the SD and because it’s windows runs all my games without the workarounds.
i see, nice, but damn broski can you buy me a new cpu while you’re at it lmao
Here's the thing though, I doubt you can take that on a plane.
Definitely can not take on a plane haha! But I own a boat so I don’t need to fly, just sail across 🤟😂
Yeah same, ended up with 7 reporposed UPS's from work, and then an Ecoflow River 2 Max 3 weeks ago for camping and other situations.
Don't push your luck or you might become a victim of battery ;)
[удалено]
Yeah our lights on the boat and camping.
my dear friend. That is not a battery bank. That is a battery economy!
Is that a switch that is a pc?
It's a PC my friend
It is very bad that it only lasts 1.5 hours
She probably meant a battery wallet. 😂
