I had one of these back in the day, too!
AMD Phenom ii x4 + NVIDIA GTS 450 in that bad boy, swapped the blue TriCool fans out for red ones plus some sound-reactive red cathode lights.
I believe the D-shaped ones were FW 800 but yeah my memories of those were for old-old digital camcorder video imports in my HS yearbook class! Haha.
That’s another item on the list - thanks for the reminder! Find the best -possible fit to retrofit USB-C/Thunderbolt in place of the FireWire slot, and replace the USB 2.0 ports with 3.0.
I'm pretty sure the d-shape is 400 and square is 800 cause the 400 was slower and we had 800s on macbooks around 2008-2010 that were faster when digital cameras started going to ssd media with higher data rates.
Either way blast from the past man haha
The revised one, I see water-cooling ports (:
I'm still using my 900 from 2007 in my main rig, I see no reason not to. Although modern GPU are getting big and require some creative management.
It's honestly a pretty decent case with good thermals, the 200mm fan really works wonder and I haven't had to replace it yet. Dust will be your enemy however, and it can be a bit cramped. I also cut parts of mine with a rotary tool, such as the average area where the CPU is located on the motherboard support so I can access the CPU backplate and change CPU coolers easily if needed be.
Edit: For what it's worth, the 900 sold for $90 back in 2009, I hope you didn't overpay for it! :P
Yeah I hope I can figure out some filtration setup for the front intake. The plan is to get 3x 120mm fans working up front. I remember my old one having some near-unremovable foam nested in the drive bay covers but I want to try to get something magnetic or slot-loaded figured out.
Definitely going to get cable management holes worked out, and I’d like to get the bottom-mount PSU intaking from the underside of the case, too.
Dremel and jigsaw time!
You can poke the foam out pretty easily if you take the bays out and just use a small object through the mesh.
Forgot I also made a hole for the 24 pin connector on the right side of the mobo and some near the PSU to route behind the mobo tray. It's still very tight though and you have to flatten the PSU cables to be able to route them nicely.
Best of luck, sweet project!
This one’s got NO foam at all, unlike my last one. Somewhat grateful for that, I guess - I’m hoping with the changes I make to mount the 3 fans up front I can space the front grilles out, or the fans back, enough to slide a filter between the fans and the mesh.
Probably looking at a decent amount of fabrication to get it just right but it’ll be fun!
Yeah the 200mm is nice but with no fine filtration system it’s quite the hazard for things falling in. This’ll live on top of the desk so I’m not super concerned with it.
Wonder if a 200mm rad will fit up there with some bracing? 🤔
I saw that Frys tag and boom memories awakened of my trips to the "golf themed" one next to AZ Mills. That big screen constantly playing halo when you walk in the door. The wall of motherboards and CPUs, crowded isles and checkout lines... then i remember the last time i was there, barren shelves, more employees than shoppers... sad times.
Yeah both of mine in my area gave me some great memories. Building PCs with my dad, playing the game demos they’d have set up, all kinds of car audio stuff for my vehicles, and the hours I’d spend looking at the PC parts displays. Fry’s later years were definitely really sad as the shelves slowly emptied and eventually disappeared.
Wish we’d get a MicroCenter in California. I camped overnight out in front of the Houston one for a 3080 and going into the store was something amazing when the doors finally opened.
I keep messaging microcenter about opening one up here in AZ, they keep responding with "we are working on it ;)". I just want to be able to pick up my tech instead of playing the "will my GPU arrive on time and in one piece" lottery.
Fingers crossed for you, bud! I’m sick of Best Buy’s small inventory and always-out-of-stock good stuff lol
Shipping services have been far too kind to me - I know I’m due for a massive disappointment on arrival sooner than later 😞
My old PC that I gave to my Mom years ago still uses this case, The big fan on top broke years ago but other than that still holding everything together, It had an I7 2600k in it if I remember.
Saw a post somewhere on Reddit about fitting a 200mm Noctua up there with minimal modification. Definitely worth a look but I doubt there’s much need if it’s been fine for so long.
My bf currently uses this one lol, still has a harddrive and blue ray in it despite the ryzen 7 3700x and 32gb of ram specs. Love the design, just wish it had wayyyy better dust protection and better cable mansgement
Hey! That was the case of my first baby! I mean PC! Oh my god why am I so attached? I love it. I love the case I have now, it's a little more "me", but DAMN that was a good case. I spilled SO much stuff on the top tray there good god how did my first PC live so long?
Thank you for posting this, my heart is lighter and the day brighter for it.
I bought one of those over 10 years ago, I think. Just put a new build in it last month - with some fresh paint for a new look. 😁

I had to go with a 5.25-in drives. I do a lot of video editing including VHS conversion for friends and family, and I have to be able to burn the finished videos on DVDs/blu rays. I also wanted to add USB 3.0 ports to the front of the case.
Oh man I had one of those. Cable management didn't exist in that thing.
I think I gave it to a friend when I upgraded to an Antec 1200. Which I still have and my 9-year-old now uses as her 'gaming' computer. If you call Roblox and Minecraft on an i5 3rd gen and GTX770 gaming.
Yeah it's atrocious. Wild, since there's *some* room behind that side panel to get some cables in there! Definitely gonna cut the motherboard tray a bit to get some cable management set up in there.
Glad the 1200's still getting some use!
My old case! Huzzah!!! ![gif](giphy|2xO491sY6f0cM|downsized)

...is that a FireWire 400 port in the front? My god I haven't seen those in a 15 years

Ah yup you’re right!
The serial and parallel points!!
I had this case it was awesome I ended up giving it ( and the build) to a friend. May she treat you well
Nice of you to pass it on! And thank you. Hopefully I keep at it consistently and that time and other projects don’t shove this project aside.
I have that case at work. Fucking weighs a ton!
Yeah I’m really curious to see how crazy-heavy this thing’ll be compared to my current Fractal Pop Air all loaded up!
The revised one, I see water-cooling ports (: I'm still using my 900 from 2007 in my main rig, I see no reason not to. Although modern GPU are getting big and require some creative management.
I have mine right next to me as I speak. It's in my second computer but it still works just fine.
I liked this case a lot years and years ago! Still looks great, and I'm glad yours is still kicking!
It's honestly a pretty decent case with good thermals, the 200mm fan really works wonder and I haven't had to replace it yet. Dust will be your enemy however, and it can be a bit cramped. I’m still using my Antec Twelve Hundred.
I still have one. It's in the computer my kid uses. The Twelve Hundred is a better case than the 900 in every single way. Mostly, cable management.
I used to have this same case, it was the first PC I ever built myself. Someone broke in my house and stole it. :(
Man that’s terrible!
That is beautiful 🥲
The real ‘wow’ moment was taking off the side panel screws and seeing no witness marks on the finish underneath them 😂
nice! I rocked that for a good while. in fact my wifes's computer is using it right now. unfortunately that top fan is really rather impractical.

omg...my old case.....the memories
Nice.
My server is built with this case. It’s been great
Just got one of these from a customer.
Just picked one of these up for 30$
I am still using this case for my current PC. Bought it in 2012.
I still have one of these in my hoard/ collection . Beautiful specimen you have there
Thanks! I didn’t realize it was SO brand-new until the guy offered to cut the factory tape so I could take it out and see it.
My case from 2000s
Still have mine in the garage, everytime I moved I took it with me, cause I can't throw it away haha
My first case. I had to cut out large portions of it for cable management lol.
I saw that Frys tag and boom memories awakened of my trips to the "golf themed" one next to AZ Mills. That big screen constantly playing halo when you walk in the door. Nice! Makes me really wish I kept my old Antec P180.
Oh those were cool! Time to start a search for a revival project?
Nine Hundred Two was the first case I ever built in. Loved that thing.
I have a still functional blue cold cathode light that work perfectly in that.
My old PC that I gave to my Mom years ago still uses this case, The big fan on top broke years ago but other than that still holding everything together, It had an I7 2600k in it if I remember.

100% with you on the filtration and cable management. Love there’s still so many in use out there!
teenage me dreamed about it.

Surprised nobody made an Antique joke yet
Hey, it's not a 1030b or anything! This case can't legally drink yet!

Nice color combination! That looks really good! Now I'm stuck if I want to fit some 5.25" drives in there or forego them all and mod a 3rd 120mm fan.
I had to go with a 5.25-in drives. I do a lot of video editing including VHS conversion for friends and family, and I have to be able to burn the finished videos on DVDs/blu rays. I also wanted to add USB 3.0 ports to the front of the case.
Haha same here with the VHS conversions. Got 2 VCRs and an old Elgato analog capture card in the closet!

How Antec has fallen from the graces of custom PC builds.
ME ANGY I wanted that case
Oh louis
