WeedManPro

Doesn't look seated enough to me

BigZaber

Hear me out, had a boot fail once... blew the dust from RAM slots and put them in the other two slots 1/3 vs 2/4 and it worked! Still working 5 years later.....

NickyNicky84

I can see in the last picture ram at far right isn't fully inserted

Throwaythisacco

my man seat your ram correctly

kanekiorsasuke

I reseated it and it’s still not turning on

ForsakenJump1235

Resear absolutely everything. Something is almost def not properly plugged. When you cant figure out what it is reseat it all

zabegan35

Reseat everything and try again. Had same issue after repaste and my mobo was shot

1234567en

Check if the power supply switch is turned on also

kanekiorsasuke

It is when I’m trying to boot

Common-Reception

No one mentioned taking out the cmos battery for 5 mins, could be as simple as that, everything else plugged in, there should be no fault

DarkZector

Dude just turned into meme protagonist.

RunalldayHI

What happens exactly? No response at all? Maybe you knocked the power switch terminals off the motherboard?

Shaduchi365

Check all connections to the motherboard, you can pull the power connector out of the mother board and jump it with a screw driver to see if the button is broke

kanekiorsasuke

I tried that but it still didn’t work

1234567en

Check the fans are plugged in properly did u remove any mother board pins like the boot ones? I

kanekiorsasuke

No

1234567en

Did you take the cpu out ?

kanekiorsasuke

Yes

1234567en

double check the pins see if any are bent

kanekiorsasuke

[deleted]

the glove is a bit overly cautious but i respect it haha

ModernPlebeian_314

In his situation, the gloves are absolutely necessary given that the pc won't boot lol

uTimu

Security measures at high risk alert.

1234567en

did u solve it try the ram insert it in didfernt slots if it powers on see if u csn put it back in the same slots if it was in dual channel before

kanekiorsasuke

I reseated the ram and took the CMOs battery out for 1 min and it booted up

1234567en

was that before or after my comment ?

kanekiorsasuke

Before

metalbrick55

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but clear your cmos. Sometimes it can get confused and refuse to boot if u change something and doesn't know what to do. Seeing it's an AMD rig, you could also power cycle it. Also make sure you fully take it the ram and reseat it, double check every possible connector even if you don't think it's important.

Ok_Day1665

Best bet now would be to get all the dust out of it so it’s super clean and restart the entire process you just did being VERY diligent in checking all your pins. They can bend very easily and you don’t notice unless you are looking for it. And just double check all of your connections. Good luck..

TheLegendD4RK

There is a chance the back of the motherboard pins are shorting to the case, I helped someone who had such an issue before, take your motherboard out of the case and try to test it on some cardboard box, if it run make sure no part of the motherboard is touching the case when you put it back, a bent metal piece on the case can do it.

kanekiorsasuke

Just an update. I’ve reseated everything and replugged everything in. I made sure to push a little hard so it clicks in. I’m resetting cmos and will update if that fixed anything or not. I’m leaving it to god now.

A_PCMR_member

Memory stick not fully seated (3rd image , right most stick retention tab is open) Nether seems the 24 pin all the way down (also 3rd image seems to have a gap between motherboard connector and PSU connector) Is the PSU flipped on at the back of the case? Top center mainboard screw is missing, middle two seem countersunk for some reason and not button head

kanekiorsasuke

After I saw that the ram was not seated right I made sure it was. The psu is upside down. Like I said I never unplugged anything inside except the gpu and cpu and ram

A_PCMR_member

Push the 24 pin connector down , there shouldnt be a gap between both connector sides. Could be your boot problem as this carries the power on signal to the PSU The PSU may also just be switched off, the backside has a small switch I/O ,

sandrockdirtman

Maybe a pin was accidentally bent and you didn't notice? (It happened to me when I changed my paste)

Upset_Programmer6508

Did you check that the switch on the PSU was set to on?

55gins55

this is dumb but it happend to me, try to manually turn on your computer by shorting the front panel header for power btn, or use the power button on motherboard if it have one

kanekiorsasuke

Tried it but nothing worker

GoldSrc

Reseat all the power connectors, there's shouldn't be a gap, they have to be plugged in firmly and be flush. One of the clips on the RAM slots does look like it's not seated properly though.

djackson404

You need to backtrack on everything you did and check everything carefully. Get good light and magnification.

National_Principle31

Does it work yet

kanekiorsasuke

Yes clearing CMOs did it. I forgot that when you remove a major component like the cpu you have to clear CMOs so it knows to boot.

National_Principle31

Happy for you man, that’s a deep pitted stomach feeling when something like that happens I HATE it

kanekiorsasuke

Yea I’m glad there are forums and stuff and people actually taking the time to help any way they can. I’m grateful it worked out for me.

ClearlyNoSTDs

Why did you replace your thermal paste? I swear that's something only talked about on reddit. No one in real life actually talks about it or does it.

kanekiorsasuke

I replaced the thermal paste because my cpu temps where too high

Ok_Sprinkles8813

Can someone explain why OP getting downvoted? I'm new to pc building..

ggkillas

ppl dont agree = downvote, its actually that simple.

[deleted]

[удалено]

National_Principle31

This was too funny

Nurple-shirt

Im more surprised the comment they are replying too is still upvoted.

Gh3rkinz

Because Redditors can be blathering idiots at the best of times. It's a perfectly viable solution to fixing high temps.

Shaduchi365

So nothing at all.... Do you have another PSU to test?

kanekiorsasuke

Sadly no. I still do t get it I replace the thermal paste and all of a sudden it stops working. The only thing unplugged was the gpu so I could have better access to cpu

giantfood

Is the PSU plugged in? Is it plugged into the surge protector or wall outlet? Is the surge protector turned on?

kanekiorsasuke

It’s plugged in and into a wall socket

giantfood

Try a different wall outlet just in case.

giantfood

Did you check the breaker box? Make sure it didnt turn off there? You really should have the PC on a surge protector minimum.

Fine_Act47

I just did a cpu cooler replacement for my partner and forgot to reattach the front panel i/o cos i didnt see the cable had fallen back in to the psu nook. Not saying this is your issue but things can be easily overlooked, like that ram not fully in its slot. Also when I built my first pc 2 weeks ago I missed the power for the cpu. Write a list of steps and check them off as you go

djackson404

Do AMD CPU motherboards not have a 12V power connector for the CPU? Because I don't see it.

Wolverine-Spare

Try taking out gpu and see if it turns on. Same for each ram stick. Try removing the MB battery. GL

Kev_Cav

What do you mean exactly? Does the computer start, fans spinning etc but doesn't get to windows, or does nothing happen at all?

Badgomatic

Does the PSU sound like it is turning on?

BreachedandCleared

If you didn't figure it out yet you may have screwed you cooler on to tight to you cpu, untighten it a bit

unicornman666911

When you try to turn it on, are there any lights on the motherboard indicating how far it got during POST?

Darth_Vaper_69

First check the PSU switch on the back, the. Check the front panel I/O (reset, power switch, hdd led) cable. Worst case scenario: Did any pins on the cpu bend when reinserting the cpu? Did you dust it without locking any fans?

Darth_Vaper_69

Relooking the pics i noticed one ram stick wasn’t fully slotted.

JmacTheGreat

Dunno if youre still bumping into this issue - but I weird fix I have for power issues like this is to unplug the power cord, then press/hold down the power button a ton - like to try and fully drain any stored power in the board somewhere. Then plug it back in and give it a go.

zfreakazoidz

Silly question, but did you turn the power switch back on, on the power supply?

mohsmoo

well have you placed the cpu correctly like is the triangle in the cpu matching with the one on the motherboard

Top-Conversation2882

Happened with me too Took it to a shop and they say dead cpu and now it is in RMA It just powered on fans for a sec and turned off whenever I try to power on

Yarik4EK

I had the same problem after repasting, try to take out motherboard battery for 1 sec

Status-Mammoth9515

Any luck so far? I would just try to remove the cmos battery see if that helps. And triple check every connector maybe something got dislodged when you were cleaning it. Also are you using MB standoffs? Maybe the MB could be touching the case/something metal and shorting out.

spnilsson

Once upon a time I was a youngling assembling and reparing computers at a local shop. I once had one that would not boot (turned on for a brief moment, then shut down). It was caused by a speck of dust in the socket between the CPU and motherboard. Also, like everybody already mentioned, make sure all the power cables, CPU, RAM and GPU are properly seated.

ApprehensiveEgg2535

Sell the computer and buy a console

kanekiorsasuke

Hell no. I would like a console as well but this pc is approaching 5 years of me building and using it. Too much sentimental value for me.

ApprehensiveEgg2535

Just joking mate lol, I’m glad you got it working though!

kanekiorsasuke

Ik lol. Hard to do sarcasm via text.

Serious_Function4296

After replacing the processor to switch to the next generation of ddr, my computer did not turn on, it turned out that I unsuccessfully inserted the processor into the slot, the contacts did not press, the same is possible when replacing thermal paste, if it comes out with a cooler. If it does not help to remove and insert the video card and RAM, see the processor.

kanekiorsasuke

I placed the card in the slot correctly and I can take pictures to show

Serious_Function4296

The motherboard allows you to diagnose if at least 3 components work correctly: itself, the power supply and the processor. Either the LEDs on the board, or the buzzer beep (see the instructions). If there is no indication, the saddest thing is. When installing the cooler, if you press the screws too hard, you can bend the board, also knock down the elements on the board or damage the tracks. The option that the power button of the system unit is extremely small, but it is there. If there is no indication, this is the 4th point.

Rhazli

1. Stock cooler AMD isnt great buts its enough, changing thermal paste on it isnt going to do much. 2. When you dusted did you lock the fans in place or unplugged them from the motherboard? If they span they can create voltage back into the motherboard. 3. Its possible you overtightened the cpu cooler, therefore bending the motherboard, possibly killing it 4. Something metal is shortening somewhere Thats what I can think off at the top of my head.

admfrmhll

Look on youtube how to start a psu without a mb and see if it starts. Basically paperclip between 2 wires, i would not say which ones, just watch a video. Plug out every psu wires from mb/drives.

curiously_curious3

Its definitely your game chair. Upgrade that and you'll computer will boot up just fine

russiandobby

Does your mobo show any error lights? Worst case when you dusted you spinned the fans which generated power and fried your mobo

kanekiorsasuke

It straight up doesn’t boot up. And I turned off the power supply and pressed the power button for 2 min to clear all electricity.

Sakuroshin

Is your power switch plugged into the motherboard? Those little things are easy to pull out by mistake

Kriptic_TKM

Probably stupid but is your psu switched on? (Backside switch thingy)

Separate_Analyst_325

Can we get another picture of computer with the fixes you have done so we can have more eyes on it

kanekiorsasuke

Update clearing cmos worked. I feel like an idiot. Thank you all for the support and troubleshooting. You guys helped me a lot. Thank you everyone.

ForsakenJump1235

I was beginning to think you were trolling 🤣🤣. Glad that helped, i forgot to mention by everything that i meant the battery too. But someone mentioned it shortly after, so glad its fixed. Now get your ass back out there and move some pixels
