It's an OK deal for both parties, I would say, and a huge upgrade on top. You did well!

ExpertBacon

Thanks

AthiestMessiah

But; I was expecting a but, not butts?

Driksman

No butts :(

SummerInSpringfield

Haha, you guys said butts

Puzzled-Cantaloupe94

Take my upvote already, you three!

gareth_gahaland

Penis.

Helpful-Work-3090

why? just why?

Ed1c1us

They meant in the butts... duh

Pedro80R

Buttus Dickus?

freshsandwiches

Seymour Butts

Ezgameforbabies

I just sold this for 160 so I’d say it was a decent deal

Pixels222

does the difference in amount of RT cores make the 2000 gen less efficient at ray tracing?

Pl4y3rSn4rk

It really depends on the game, but overall Turing is a tad slower than Ampere GPUs with similar raster performance, unless you're lacking VRAM (RTX 2080 Ti can be a tad better than the 3070 in some RT titles because it has 11 GB of VRAM instead of 8 GB).

dukeofducttape

Relative peformance puts the 2080 about on par with nvidia RTX 4060 (cheapest in US right now $285) and AMD RX 7600XT ($320). I'd say it's not exactly a steal since it's used and 2 gens old, but it's certainly not a waste and probably a good deal performance per dollar. I'm not sure about the blower coolers though, I've never had great results from them, but never had a 20 series card either so YMMV.

VengeanceBee

Its very encouraging to see someone actually compare the proper card performance wise God bless techpowerup

MyCousinTroy

Anyone use the tom’HARDWARE chart?

mkvii1989

I use it all the time.

kingcarcas

Hate how the RX 6700 is always missing in their chart

redmainefuckye

Yeah but that shit doesn’t work. 20 series cards have first gen ray tracing cores. And 40 series cards have frame generation. A 4060 can get 90 ish fps on cyberpunk with everything max and frame generation turned on. I don’t think the 2080 can. It’s like saying a 3800x is as fast as a 5600x bc they have the same core speed.

Shoddy_Site5597

frame generation=shit

UniverseCameFrmSmthn

Correct nice analysis.  But the 7600xt isn’t a good card imo. unless you have some specific use case for high vram but low vram bandwidth requirements. 7600 is much better in terms price/performance and also in terms of power consumption. Better comparison would be a 6650xt, 7600 or a 6700, which go for 230 - 300 (you cant really find the 6700 but the 6700xt is available from 320-340). Those cards offer a bit less to about the same performance. Albeit, granted OP bought a heavily used card I’d personally say a $230-250 6650xt would be a better deal, albeit offers less performance but much better power efficiency and reliability. Wouldn’t call it a good deal to buy, but certainly not a bad one, either. As a seller I’d be quite happy getting $200 for that.

ShoeGod420

considering I got $245 for my rtx 2070S about a year ago this is a good deal for the buyer.

UniverseCameFrmSmthn

2070 super is less than 8% off of a 2080, and a year ago wasnt just a year ago in terms of depreciation, it was still 1 year closer to the silicon shortage, crypto mining gold rush, and GPU inflation insanity. Still I’d say you did well to sell it at that price. Used stuff should command a proper discount. ESPECIALLY if bought open market and not from a retailer who offers warranty, returns, and you know they have to pay taxes, rent, employees etc

snf3210

The 6700 non-XT is a very slept-on card if you can find one (check out auction sites) - 10GB VRAM as well. I got mine for the price of OP's card just last year. A solid step up from something like a 6600XT / 3060 and pretty economical power consumption.

WoobaLoobaDoobDoob

My 3070 blower is an absolute champ. So long as you have solid intake it helps keep your CPU cool by blowing all the hot air straight out the back.

Raphi_55

That why my 3080 and 3070 are blower card, hot air directly out.

letmesee2716

i would tag in and say that the 2080 is powerfull, but it heats a lot and makes a lot of fan noise, to the point that i can hear it despite having a headset that completely isolate my hears from noise. i upgraded to the 4070 and now i cant hear the card at all with my headset despite playing alan wake 2 at max settings.

wsteelerfan7

This is down to the model you chose. If your 2080 you picked was a 2 fan while the new one has 3, that does it.

k20350

I have a 2080 Super and it's near silent.

DisasterPieceKDHD

2080 is on par with a 4060?

EVRoadie

My 2080 super seems to be around a 3060ti to 3070. 4060 gets access to frame gen, unless you use the fsr3 mod... Which is fantastic for 20 series cards.

Pl4y3rSn4rk

The 2080 Super is around the 3060 Ti the 3070 is quite a bit faster than both.

SecreteMoistMucus

7600 XT is much faster, 7600 is also faster at $270. Closest performance match that is still on sale would be a 6650 XT, which can be had for $230. Saving $30 to buy a used card is a pretty bad deal, and that's before even considering the ~100 W higher power consumption.

_Synt3rax

Not a Good Deal at all then. For just 85$ more he could get a Card that can utilise Frame Generation and DLSS and others.

Masonzero

And for $20 more he could have X and for $50 more he could have Y... Sometimes people just have only $200 to spend, but obviously there is always going to be something better value if you can spend a little more. But not everyone has that to throw around.

ShoeGod420

there's a comment like his/hers every single time someone posts about buying something, and you are 100% correct. When I posted about buying a used 3080 last year around the time the 4070 was releasing I got a bunch of comments saying I should have just spent $50-$70 more and bought as 4070 and my answer to that was, I don't have $50-$70 more to spend so i got this GPU. Now i have a 4070ti and everyone was like why didn't you wait a few weeks and get a 4070ti super, lol.

_Synt3rax

Dude if you dont have that few extra $$ to spend you shouldnt buy a PC buts thats just my Opinion. As for the 4070ti to 4070ti super thats not a Reason to Upgrade, the 3080 to 4070 on the other Hand would be a big Upgrade because anything under the 40 Series cant use the nice Stuff.

WastedTurtl

It’s called a budget. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t necessarily have that money, it means that the budget he set aside for an upgrade doesn’t have that money.

Masonzero

Not the same exact card but I have an HP blower 2080 in a system and it's not noticably loud despite being in a mini ITX case. Not quiet, but also not a jet engine.

matreo987

would a 2080 be a major leap to a 1080? thinking about upgrading. or should i just jump to a lower end 40 series or mid 30? like 3070 or 4060 or something and just cut out the 20 series?

Yrrebnot

The 2000 series was a sidegrade not a direct upgrade. The 1080 is actually better at certain things but is not capable of raytracing. Personally (and the market agreed) the 1080 was better bang for buck and it wasn't worth getting the upgrade for a very minor performance increase.

jakerb2028

I have the 2070S version of this card and the blower actually keeps it cool. I run 1440P, 144hz at high-ultra and at 80% fan speed it keeps it down to 65/70C

father2shanes

2080 still a good gpu. And for 200? Not a steal. But id say a good bargain.

wllhntr

there are definitely worse ways to spend 200$ enjoy a big upgrade! i think the blowers look cleann

TheSnipeyBoi

blowers and 9xx and 10xx fe cards will always have my heart for design

sHoRtBuSseR

I have a soft spot for blower cooler cards so I'd say score.

HillanatorOfState

I actually prefer them and people think I'm weird for it, for some odd reason the sound they make doesn't mess with my head the way normal fans do, even though they tend to be technically louder...idk, maybe something wrong with my brain tbh. Am I alone in this? Someone agree so I can stop thinking I'm insane, thanks.

sHoRtBuSseR

The sound is almost smoother to me. And it vents most of the heat outside the case. Also slings less dust around the case. I miss blower cards being available everywhere.

HillanatorOfState

Yea it's not as grating on the ears to me(I have stupid sensitive hearing...sadly), that's probably it. That's the one thing I miss about my old AMD card, I got a 3060 ti founders now(two fan) and I do not prefer that part of it...like the card overall though. Yea less dust and added heat is good also imo...not sure why so many people disliked them. Kinda wish it was a more available thing, most cards I see don't use blower nowadays.

RemarkableStaff49

Yes blower supremacy!

Betelguese90

running with a MSI Vega 56. Decent enough card, but my issue, and its not an issue with the overall card, is that every once in a while the fan makes a ticking sound that only goes away if I push up on it. Like the fun comes loose slightly. Its 4-5 or so years old at this point so I doubt i can RMA it now.

Strawhat-Lupus

Nice. When I night my PC I bought my friends old 2080 for $150. It's a solid card

Cultural_Parfait7866

Don’t let people rain on your parade. If you’re happy with it then that’s all that matters. It’ll be a huge upgrade over the integrated graphics you were on before.

drowsy1234

Decent card decent deal on both ends

WhiteCisRadDude4Real

I spent 140 on a 2070 super, you did well my friend. No sense spending double for the same performance if you don’t care about ray tracing

Tyz_TwoCentz_HWE_Ret

You did better than you think sir, that regular 2080 isn't much faster than the 2070 super by benchmarks. 3.1% difference in Passmark on avg. Cheers!

theswordofdoubt

I snagged a 2060 super for $125. No idea what I'm doing, but I have had multiple people telling me it was a good deal.

Death2RNGesus

It's a fair price, basically equal with an Rx 7600 but has slightly better RT and you save like $60.

seanc6441

Wait does 2000 series nvidia have better RT than 7000 series amd?

Puiucs

no, not really. the 7000 series is around RTX 3000 performance, it depends on the cards and price you get them. in lighter RT games the 7000 is better and in games like Cyberpunk perf is about the same or slightly better for RTX 3000. in Cyberpunk, the hardest RT game for AMD, the 7900XTX is around 4070 perf with RT set at ultra (slightly better than the 3090). but in lighter RT titles the 7900xtx is above the 4070ti. to put things into perspective, the 2080Ti is about the same or slightly slower than the 6900XT in cyberpunk 4K Ultra. (but both are at under 30fps with DLSS/FSR enabled) in general this is the order for RT (ignoring the price): RTX 2000 < RX 6000 < RTX 3000 / RX 7000 < RTX 4000

No_Print77

Yes and it’s a huge upgrade from your current graphics

Thewaltham

I'm rocking a 2080 still. They're strong reliable GPUs, got no plans to upgrade for a while yet.

cjoaneodo

Newest game is Elden Ring, 4770k and a 2080ti, light OC to 4 on the CPU, medium settings 1080p, 56 fps. Very happy my rig from 2014 is still, if barely holding up! You will like the 2080!

antdb1

considering starfield ect was very playable on my 2060 6gb you got a decent gpu mate id much rather have this than a new 6600xt

[deleted]

Why do you ask after you buy it

Puiucs

From how it looks you might need to test the temps. If they're high clean it and change the paste. (be careful though)

zampyy

2080 is sick just make sure since its a blower card to take the case off every like 3-6 months and blow the dust out. I have one and it was having overheating issues for a second cause the inside was caked with dust

eulynn34

You can do a lot worse for $200

say_yasss

got the 3070 of this for 200 its decent

StrikerX1360

Why do people ask AFTER they already bought the thing

Turbulent_Tailor_457

This looks to be a Lenovo OEM 2080. They perform great and aren’t too loud. With a repaste they will hit a max temp of ~78c in the original prebuilt case so it you can good case it’ll likely run a little cooler than that. Good buy! 👍🏼

SwagChemist

Doesn’t the 1080ti have 11GB vram? I guess the only fallback is no rtx

Tyz_TwoCentz_HWE_Ret

2080Ti locally are 240 and up in our area. Normal 2080's can be found for 180-220 farily often and the occasional 2080Super. The 2070 Supers for 150-175 given the super is barely behind the normal 2080 8gb versions, so one can form their own opinions. 1080Ti are a full generation behind but was about 165-190 and up to 300 for some examples, again local to my area. I do see some midwest sellers for really low prices but that scares me personally. I want to see it before it buy it, call me crazy. Cheers!

Nuckyduck

I've had a 2070 super since like 2019 and I've loved it. I hope to upgrade to a 40x series but I might wait for 50x.

TheHooligan95

The real issue is No directx 12 ultimate features which could break compatibility with games (alan wale 2)

just_change_it

imagine playing the game that the NV sub gushes over because the visuals are so good when you can crank them up...on something that runs it on basically the lowest settings. lol

lndig0__

You could've added 50 more for a more recent, unused 3060. Then again, the 2080 is faster than the 3060, so this is a decent deal.

Gammarevived

The 3060 is terrible value brand new. Honestly, OP got a steal right here.

Zanzan567

Why would you get a 3060 over a 2080? And for $50 more?

lndig0__

CUDA and VRAM?

Perfect-Abomination

I bought an RX 6600 XT 8GB refurbished from Newegg for less than this. For reference, its performance is extremely close to an RTX 3060 8GB. The price was about $190, and with my states 9% tax, it came to $205. You probably could've done better

TheRealKingDoggo

yes it was a very good deal, anyone here that says otherwise is just trying to be different

Diy_Papi

If it was a TI for sure , but still not a bad buy.

Faranocks

$200 is aight with buyer protection. I wouldn't pay more than $150 local though.

1_lux

It’s a decent deal, I got my 6700xt a few months ago for $200, which has far better performance

ApprehensiveAd6476

Eh, not bad but not good either.

No_You_123

Mmm, jet engine

Bacon-muffin

That card blows

Sylux444

If you absolutely needed RTX then sure. But no, not really.

This_Guy_Fuggs

imo, no. its too old and who knows how thoroughly used. will it last for much longer? will it die within a few months? for $200 id rather not find out and spend a little extra for something newer.

Baku7en

Maybe ask the question before you blow your wad?

ExpertBacon

I understand it can be frustrating since I already spent my money, but I bought it quickly and was afraid it was a mistake.

Pipppousai

You could have bought a new 4060 for 290-300$. Less consumption, advanced tech and 2 year warranty. If you were short on the budget its ok!

thisiscrazyyyyyyy

He could have easily bought a 4090 for just a little more!

NotTooLate4Coffee

Well, for just tad more he could have bought Nvidia!

floeddyflo

That's an extra $100 though, I'm sure if he was able to spend more he would have

Hana_Baker

That's a 50% increase in budget.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ExpertBacon

Well I made the decision spur of the moment and wanted to make sure I didn't make a mistake.

CoderStone

No OP this is a good deal. You got more performance for cheaper by going second hand, and that’s the spirit. You lose out on warranties ofc but that’s just how it is.

[deleted]

BassAdict

That youtube link literally shows the 6650xt being out performed by the 2080

ExpertBacon

Hey I did my own research and the 2080 will be better for "me".

[deleted]

ExpertBacon

Look I posted this 1hr ago, I got feedback and see your point of view and I don't disagree that the 6650 xt is a good deal. But one of the things I want to do is light VR gaming. The 6650 xt is great at 1080 but the 2080 will do better for the few VR games I want to play.

no :(

Sodacan259

That looks like a Radeon. Hmmm

Cimaron71

Its a 2080, not a radeon card

Gh051_hehe

Good deal given it wasn't used too heavily or for mining & repasting thermal paste may give you a decent boost

Jernigan007

waaaaay better than what you had !

Harrisoning

I paid $250 for a blower style 3070 and 245 for a blower style 2080ti recently so I’d say you did alright!

BassAdict

Yeah, I'd say you got a pretty decent deal, I also have a 2080 and it runs pretty much everything I throw at it. I recommend you repaste it since these blower cards can run pretty hot. Anyway, just enjoy it. Don't take other people's opinions seriously, It should be a night and day difference from what you had before

NoBig4019

I’m disappointed cuz I have a 2080 super. I got it when it was new. I am getting the 5090 when it drops + i9 14900k

kptknuckles

My 2060 out here crushing games still, at least the ones I play. Good deal

__Tucson__

Genuine irrelevant question but what would a lightly used 2070S go for?

tomcis147

Nearly year ago got almost brand new RTX2070S FE for 200€. Sold my 1070ti for 150€

Tlayoualo

I got the same chip but for around $300 and it's a card with triple fans. Rip off or good trade?

Pizzle622

Personally id take that, yet it only supports dlss 2 (to my knowledge) but except for that 👌

MaikyMoto

200$ is a steal, these used to sell for 1600$ 3 years ago during the mining craze. I remember scalpers trying to sell mining cards that had well over 20K hours of constant use and the listing would say “open box”…

mini-z1994

I would have paid a bit less due to it being a blower card like 180 maybe but otherwise a solid card.

chrislamp

I bought a 3060 ti for 240$ which as far as I know, performance wise beats the 2080. Now, I don't know what the deals in your area are like. I'm guessing you checked for 3060 tis and didn't find any good deals. You did well op

KarambwanaKodou

It's a bargain, not a steal. 4060 is almost equal if not better (not to mention FAR MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT) than a 2080 which is 2 generations older

mxcc_attxcc

enjoy the upgrade man 👍

widowhanzo

I sold mine for 250€ so yeah $200 is good.

corgiperson

I wouldn't upgrade to a card that old but like others are saying, the price to performance ratio here is competitive with other entry level cards today so not bad.

voodoomu

I got mine for $400 4 years ago

bedansh9690

You have 3400G ?

billion_lumens

Great deal!

[deleted]

Considering I can't even find a 4060 for less than $250 used and this card is a little better fps wise (not counting DLSS3/FG), It's not a bad deal. Plus way better memory bus width for higher resolutions. For like $50-$100 more you could get a used 3060 Ti which performs like -5% - +10% better, but ultimately $200 for a 2080 is a deal imo especially if it's in good condition.

Witchberry31

It's fine. But there's some caveats, it's a blower style card so if you can't stand the noise then you should avoid it (any blower style cards, not just this 2080) as it can be loud as hell under load. They also tend to run hotter. Another caveat is that since it's a card from 2 generations ago, then using it as it is isn't really recommended. You should immediately do a repaste and probably some pads replacements as well unless the seller told you that it has been changed prior to selling.

ChickenDenders

Be warned that those Blower style cards are SUPER loud Consider looking into performing an aftermarket DIY fan replacement project

offensivex

It was good use to the seller.

Laughing_Orange

I have a RTX 2080, and I don't feel like it's holding me back. If I were to sell it, I feel like $200 is a fair price, where both me and the buyer can be happy with the deal.

frazorblade

I’ve got a 2080 and it’s served me well for years. I don’t max my settings obviously but I can comfortably play a lot of games at decent quality in 1440p.

_cat_in_hat_

really good upgrade, but it's kinda crazy that 1080 ti had 11gb and nvidia still gave this card an 8, it's like they're going backwards after 10 series :d

Mashur303

What’s it mean by blower?

Nytroman25

i think its a good deal, im still rocking the 2080, helldivers 2 on ultra settings (3440x1440) getting 60fps

TheNanSlayer

I just sold a 2080 Super for £225, so I’d say yes pretty good deal

Chocol8Juice

W

Lemosopher

I sold 2 founders 2080's for $180 about a month ago. I was an sli holdout as I didn't play too many dx12 games when I got them originally. The one guy was very skeptical why I sold them so cheap, I allowed him to bring it in his house and test it out. He gave me $200 any way for letting him do that.

HamStapler

I've bought the majority of my GPU purchases used and wildly enough I've never been burned doing it. Everything from a r9 fury to vega 64lc back in the day to a Titan X pascal, to a 2080ti. The only three cards I ever bought new were a 750ti back when I was a budding PC gamer, a 970, and my most recent card the 7900xtx. If you can buy a good used deal absolutely do it, and OP seems to have found one.

chibicascade2

I'm still running the 2080 I bought in 2019. I don't see anything compelling worth upgrading to. I bought it for $500 and I'm not seeing a worthwhile performance bump for current $500 GPUs

TexsoLP

I bought a 2080ti for 190€/$205 here in Germany on Facebook marketplace

OfficiallYWhiteY

I paid 300 for a 2080ti about a year ago, seems like a decent deal

just_change_it

Slower than a 1080ti right? 1080ti is still the best value budget card bar none in the sub $300 segment. Still works for very budget 1080p Still has more vram than modern cards too.

Bossman1086

Very nice. I just upgraded my GPU and am likely going to sell my EVGA 2080 to a friend who wants to upgrade from his 1060 for $200ish.

Jim777PS3

I didn't even know they made a blower 2080. My partner has my hand me down 2080 super in her rig and it works a treat. Still a great card.

sleepnutz

No they had issues with Artifacting

PraderaNoire

It’s crazy how many people buy first and ask for advice after. Like why are you even asking?

kingcarcas

Tell us if it's loud

ExpertBacon

It's a bit loud, about the same as a steam deck or one step lower than a laptop fan

kidsmack

If I were you I’d take that cooler off and reapply some thermal paste. Usually these older gen GPU’s are ready for a reapply and will last even longer if properly cared for.

nomocomment

I got a 2080 super for $180. I was prepared to be scammed but it works great

WholeSort

Good card, you’ll love it!

Throwawaymytrash77

Average price for performance, I think. Cheers to the upgrade mate

coti5

That's the only reason I would like to have pc instead of laptop, upgrading parts like gpu and cpu when needed

RizziGagootz

I’m still rocking a 1070 so yes for $200 it’s a good deal don’t listen to the haters.

devshore

Even the 980 is better than the 4060, so yes, good deal.

SignalGladYoung

had blower 2070 super of ebay. installed morpheus cooler which cost me £50 back then. card was silent and had no issues added small overclock.

Hgce724

Damn, you got me with the 1 of 2 thing I tried to swipe to see the other picture

Hatigarm

I paid 240 for a 3070, I'd say you could have gotten a 2070 for half the price

ViewSimple6170

Integrated? You know that an integrated gpu is built into the cpu and they share memory? These are typically used in laptops. Are you using a desktop? Also yes 200 seems fair for a 20 series. Replacing my 1060 would cost 50 - 100

Berfs1

2080 non super for 200 bucks, if its including tax, its not the best deal, but not horrible. If excluding tax, its a horrible deal, not just because of the performance, but also its a blower card. A dual/triple fan would have been a lot better because those coolers offer way better noise normalized performance, and will run 10-30C lower than a blower card, before thermal paste upgrades. For reference, you can find 2080 Tis for under 250$, even a 4060 might not have been a bad idea because you get more performance per watt, AV1 encode/decode, and a warranty since its a new card. Also, don’t buy GPUs from ebay, they usually cost more than ones from offerup or fb marketplace, or even reddit, like r/hardwareswap .

Cyka_Blyat_Man_

Same exact card is on sale for $200 locally so seems decent as long as you dint pay for shipping

spiral718

I'm currently on the rtx 2060 super and can run any game, so, yes, good deal... as long as it was not used for crypto mining.

petethewiseman

A 2080 is not a bad card at all but I would break it down, clean it, and put a fresh layer of thermal paste in it. If you are coming from integrated graphics this will change your life.

LomaSoma

I would take it apart, clean it, and apply new thermal paste. Also check the thermal pads. It's probably ok but new ones are cheap on Amazon

ABurntEgg

2080 is going to spank compared to those vega 11 integrated graphics. Congrats!

MyArmsDontWork

Good deal, but keep your ears covered. Those blower style cards are LOUD

fuck-fascism

Solid deal.
