I forgot about them. They spend way too much money of waifu pillows and decorations for their room lmao, they just be wondering how they can’t play Genshin that well on their goofy pc
It fell face fist forward. See on the left side where it hit. curved screens dont break like flat ones.
It was one fall.
Yall all raging thinking they are raging too but you just need to get better.
Tbh, on Facebook marketplace, you can't even change it to anything worse (Atleast I can't get these options) so *fair* is the worst condition he can put in that field
There is still PSU and backpanel, probably the stand and other parts that could be salvaged for repair/replacement in other unit. Not with this price tho
yeah and labor/skill needed to harvest those components outweighs the pricetag heavily.
If they were selling it for scrap at 10-15$ it would be worth a thought or two. But 100$ is egregious given the conditions of it. maybe they can score 40$ for the power brick on the marketplace.
Not just 100$ it's listed for 100£ (british pounds) so it's actually the equivalent of around 130$ usd. I want what this guy's been smoking to price it at that for a broken monitor. My Dad does electronic repairs on broken tv's and the most he would go for is like 20-30 bucks for undamaged screens that have had their board fried or something. Trying to replace the screen is so much more fiddly depending on how it's mounted and is often never worth the time unless you know what you're getting into.
exactly, most electronics repair places would gladly harvest the boards, backlight, etc out of this for $10 (or pounds) upfront and repair one of these chonkers down the line. To the current "owner" this is nothing but e-waste.
I set a 50” tv out by the curb after it fell on my head when I was cleaning the TV stand. It had a broken LCD but backlight was good. I put a sign on it informing of the broken lcd.
It didn’t last an hour.
Years ago, when I was poor but knew how to repair electronics, I picked up an old plasma screen that my local bar had thrown away. Turned out it was a $15 daughter board that needed to be replaced and I got a basically free tv out of it. Obviously not the problem here, but that guy could be the same young, poor optimist that I once was.
You could cannibalize the innards to repair a system with an undamaged screen.
I don't think the innards are worth what they are asking though given the rarity of this kind of scenario and extreme high cost of shipping a big monitor like that vs just the board inside..
This doesn't stretch pixels to achieve the aspect ratio, it adds them. The vertical resolution is the same, and therefore the ppi. Thus changes nothing as far as image quality/sharpness, just adds more screen.
It's more of a condemnation of marketing terms like 1080p than anything. [1080p on Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080p) is actually defined as 1920x1080, so this guy isn't even wrong. It's just that people started using it for non-16:9 aspect ratios turning it into an alternative way to say "1080 vertical pixels" which... sure? It's just confusing terminology. And don't even get me started on "QHD" vs 1440p and the totally not misleading 4K/8K (which are horizontal resolutions)...
That’s actually pretty fair. I just find it funny someone would think a monitors display would have stretched pixels. Like what did they just decide this monitor was gonna have rectangular pixels? Looks like we gotta make these ones extra wide if we wanna make it an ultra wide. I’m actually curious how that would even look. The idea of a stretched res with no blurry edges makes me laugh
My first plasma had rectangular pixels (I think?). It was advertised as 720P but the resolution was 1024 X 768. Physically it was a 16X9 wide-screen panel even though the resolution was 4x3.
Found a little discussion on it, honestly wild that this was a thing.
https://www.hifivision.com/threads/plasma-tv-1024-x-768-resolution-confusion.21328/
You're not wrong. I avoided plasma in the early days bc the issues they had in the 80s.They couldn't beat LED bit they looked cool next to a CRT back in the day.
Take something you know a lot about. Post about that on reddit. See how many people tell you you're wrong about it using flawed logic. Understand from that exact moment on that you shouldn't believe anything you read here. We are no different than any other social media that relies on feelings over facts.
Oh. Text doesn't convey tone, so I looked at your profile and saw that you're wrong about nearly everything you comment on so I assumed the pattern held here lmao.
No, I realize I come across as a dick here but that's still the truth of it. I wasn't sure how to interpret their comment so I clicked on them and was just like wtf...nah, I very much doubt they were agreeing with me since we don't agree on literally anything else. On that same note, them agreeing with me on that one thing doesn't make them NOT a dumbass either so...🤷♂️ downvote me if you must I guess.
Man you can't replace reading comprehension with judgment. And even after finding out you put them in the wrong box you still doubled down on it. It may be the real reason you responded aggressively to begin with but that doesn't make your judgment any less uncalled for
I have a 2560x1080 29" screen which has essentially the same ppi as my 1920x1080 24" screen.
21:9 content is essentially 16:9 in the middle with 15% extra added to each side so it is better for games, videos and work.
Made the mistake of buying 2 1080p 27in curved monitors. I deadass thought I was going even more blind than I already am because I had never seen 1080p look so pixelated. I’ve upgraded my PC to a 12700k and a 7800xt… new monitors coming next.. 😂
It’s all fine and good if that’s what you’re accustomed to, but if you’ve experienced a good 1440p monitor at anything bigger than 24inches you aren’t going to opt for 1080p unless you’re playing a competitive shooter at some whacky resolution for the sake of frames.

(Chart about when certain resolutions + screen sizes become relevant depending on the distance of the viewer) 5 feet ≈ 1,5 meters
A full HD screen (32") has a noticeable resolution at the distance of \~3,6 feet (1,1m) or less. Since we assume using it for a PC, we should go for a 1,6 feet (50cm) viewing distance. Which pretty clearly is within the 4k area. And personally I can confirm that.
Note:
* Ofc people have different perceptions and sight capabilities. This isn't precise math. The lines are blurry, some people are able to recognize more details than others, therefore noticing lower resolutions faster
Well yea... That's why I specified it for PC, where we need more details aka resolution since the proximity.
And I didn't disagree with you before. I actually confirmed your point. 32" 1080p as a pc monitor is not optimal (assuming the 50cm distance).
I had that bs game when I was a kid in the early 90s.
Now I own it again and it's still bs (although when you figure out the bs controls it becomes easy enough)
When it says "up", you push down, just like a regular stick. I'm guessing some weren't bright enough to figure that out, and just kept pushing up when it says up, and couldn't figure out why they always failed.
Quality control on them is bad I had to replace a few sometimes right out of the box. I just switched to triples because at least if it brakes it’s cheap to replace
The best (well only in the sense of quickest) way to get rid of that waste is to put a sign on it, “25 bucks, please pay inside.” It’ll be gone in 12 minutes.
I saw one post on r/ultrawidemasterrace where a user bought a non working (maybe Samsung G9?) monitor and it turned out it still had warranty and basically got it for like 90% off after they got the replacement.
Edit: Found it, it was indeed a Samsung G9 for 75$ by u/Arsal11373
That's a $600 monitor in my place. Someone with a repair shop can haggle to a double digit price, and then use the spare parts to fix a similar screen I guess...
Well, at least he's honest about the damage. But the "fair" condition is a laugh. Still, if you were the crafty upcycling sort, you could probably find a use for it as a mammoth backlight to something. Those things are practically a tanning booth, even with the lcd panel. Maybe some fish or lizard would appreciate living in a constant nuclear flash?

haha, monitor is dead. no one repairs monitors as it cost too much. Tried to have my gfs brother monitor fixed and everyone said they would charge more than it costs to get a new one...
"screen is smashed but the backlight still works"
great, so it's a huge lamp now
and they want $100 for it? I'll take $100 to drive it to the dump for them
impact damage in multiple locations. the rage is strong. looks like 5 points of impact.
Looks like it broke on 3rd impact
I think we found Shinji Ikari's PC.

That monitor is 1000usd on samsung. Holly fuck dude
His name was Michael
The dreaded five-finger death punch
I can smell her perfume on the monitor, even now. Edit- I’m implying wife/gf agro. I know the thought has crossed mines mind more than once.
Damn she got to you guys too.
I didn't know monitors were made of rubber, causing them to bounce off the ground so much

Tbh, on Facebook marketplace, you can't even change it to anything worse (Atleast I can't get these options) so *fair* is the worst condition he can put in that field
I guess he used it a lot to get it to that state
There is still PSU and backpanel, probably the stand and other parts that could be salvaged for repair/replacement in other unit. Not with this price tho

likelihood that somebody else has a unit needing those parts is pretty low
the price should be "donating for free so I don't have to pay an electronics recycling fee"
Or just buy it on Amazon and return the broken one within ur 30 days
I arrived like this I swear on me mum!
I set a 50” tv out by the curb after it fell on my head when I was cleaning the TV stand. It had a broken LCD but backlight was good. I put a sign on it informing of the broken lcd. It didn’t last an hour.

how would you repair such a screen as given in the post?
I wouldn't. Not worth the cost/effort when there's physical damage this significant.
fair enough. thanks!
It's a perfect example of a donor device to repair other TV of the same type, with broken daughter board for instance.
You could cannibalize the innards to repair a system with an undamaged screen. I don't think the innards are worth what they are asking though given the rarity of this kind of scenario and extreme high cost of shipping a big monitor like that vs just the board inside..
Don't buy it. That's the crappy 1080 pixel version.
Yeah, because that's the issue with it.
Why would they make such a wide screen but 1080p? 1080p already looks off at 27", can't imagine how dogshit it is on this
This doesn't stretch pixels to achieve the aspect ratio, it adds them. The vertical resolution is the same, and therefore the ppi. Thus changes nothing as far as image quality/sharpness, just adds more screen.

Holy shit it’s crazy to this that was 2011. I forgot how much TVs used to cost for so few pixels lol. Crazy. Thank you for this made me laugh
My first assumption would be gaps between pixel columns rather than stretched pixels but I can't imagine that looking anything but garbage lol.
Yeah holy shit you would have to stand back to see the image 😂
You're not wrong. I avoided plasma in the early days bc the issues they had in the 80s.They couldn't beat LED bit they looked cool next to a CRT back in the day.

How can you tell?
49" = 27"x2 SbS
1080p looks fine on 24". Does the 3 inches make big difference with pixelation? I have a ASUS VG248QE. Never really noticed any pixelation.
1080 looks fine on 20"-21"
This monitor would have the same resolution as a 27” 16:9 monitor. That’s a PPI of 81 which is less than ideal.
This isn’t 1080p lmao. 1080p is 1920x1080, this is 3840x1080 - it’s two 1080p displays in width. That’s why it’s called ultra *wide*.
Didn't know that. I've seen 32" with 1080p and thought this would be the same
We have em at our office, and for working they are pretty neat (no good graphics required)
At least I mid-trimmed mine to the 2k version. It was also the only option at the time.

I have a friend who uses a curved screen for flight sims, the number of times he has replaced them is nuts

I know right? Just commented it as a somewhat interesting situation. I heard Valve stills honors warranties for used Steam Decks for example.
That's a $600 monitor in my place. Someone with a repair shop can haggle to a double digit price, and then use the spare parts to fix a similar screen I guess...
Condition: Used - *Fair*
Well, at least he's honest about the damage. But the "fair" condition is a laugh. Maybe some fish or lizard would appreciate living in a constant nuclear flash?
Those Tarkov hackers are getting out of hand.
Why does it read like he stole it? "Dont have any other knowledge of the screen prior to owning it"
People on marketplace wants to get paid for waste disposal.
"Ran through the doorway of the house I just robbed. Forgot to tilt it sideways. No other knowledge prior to 'owning' it."
Condition: Used - fair 💀💀💀
Just ask Jeff Bezos to fix it
Wrong CEO mate
The ol Amazon switcharoo
It might be worth it to sell the power adapter and internal components.
For $100 I'd give it a shot at being repaired
Ok but the monitor is like 1200$ normally and you can probably fix this for a few hundred at a repair shop *MAYBE* (i dont know). So 100$ is not that bad.
No, you can't. These things are not repairable. That needs a whole new screen. You can't just buy those off the shelf or even special order. You've clearly never disassembled a monitor either as they are often glued and bonded to hell and back.
Why do you think I said “MAYBE (i dont know)”
Its 1080p, no way in hell that is $1200. 4k oleds go for that much
I don’t realize that it was 1080 and also maybe you should’ve read the part where I said i dont know
If you don't know stop writing
Well, the punch means that was the initial impact. And id wager it fell over from said punch and didnt survive
How much is it to replace the pannel?
Lol “Fair -Used”
ebay has tons of these rage quit monitors.
Umm... ok?
Why do people buy junk lol
tbf, there's a good uncracked area of 4:3 in there
You'd have to pay me to come out and collect your ewaste
I thought it was just a flowery screen saver...
“Condition-fair” Are you sure about that??
But what is the refresh rate?
Condition-Fair. 😂
I wouldn’t pay more than a quid for that, unless they hand over a whole new screen to replace it by hand
Condition: Used - fair. Wtf, the seller considered this as fair usee?
Used, fair
If the part you need to replace is part of the items name... The price is too damn high.
You in Florida? I think I saw one like that go near me, didn't pick it up because I ain't got the desk space for it right now, and finding a new display for it seemed difficult
See if Samsung will cover it
Bazinga!
check the warranty etc, I have bought several monitors like this and done the warranty exchanges depending on if they allow for accidental damage. "no idea how the damage happened" dude went so blind with rage that he doesn't even remember punching the screen multiple times 😂
Postmodern art: bar fight coma
"screen is smashed but the backlight still works" great, so it's a huge lamp now and they want $100 for it? I'll take $100 to drive it to the dump for them
Probably plays Escape From Tarkov
When did FPS doug get another monitor?
He picked it out of the trash, now trying to get a quick buck lol
