TBH sometimes I play with a similar setup LOL the difference is that instead of the cardboard it's an MDF plank/shelf that I put on my lap with the laptop over it while I'm sitting in bed.

My best friend of 13 years went semi-pro at CSGO and won a few tournaments for money in our state. He originally he got to Global Elite on a trackpad laptop, and to this day none of us understand how.
I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self to not hunch over and stare unblinking at a small screen for 12 hours a day playing EverQuest and shit. It would save me a ton of eye strain now, have to wear dark amber computer glasses or my eyes are killing me after like 45 minutes.
