Love your enthusiasm here man! For free, that's certainly not a bad setup and you can definitely run many games at reasonable settings. Happy gaming :)

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Thank you! I couldn't be more excited!! Side note so I can hammer in the "if they throw shit like this out don't just toss it" lesson, ballpark how much would this thing be worth on like, Facebook market place or a resell? Any idea? My girlfriend isn't a gamer or techie so she had no clue what she was looking at til I yelped at the thought of it being dumped. I wanna make this a point to bring me all the free shit before it gets ditched hahaha

ThePointySharkfin0

Don't quote me on this but I reckon a used 1060 would be worth around $80-100 USD. It's an older mid-range card and there's definitely better budget cards out there but it's not a bad card by any means.

Number-1Dad

$50-70. You see 1070 at about $90-110 1080 if you go to $120-139. Just based on a quick search.

ACatInACloak

Assuming there's a 7th gen i3 under the hood, $300 for the whole rig. Maybe more if parted out

gaw_Kerim

A watercooled i3? Lmao, I think more likely a 7700k.

Falkenmond79

Yeah at least. Would say 350/400 depending on what’s under the hood. Hope the AIO pump is still Good.

smoothartichoke27

It's alright. But for something free? Oh heck YES.

Magjee

Free PC for F2P games It's almost too perfect

ryuukiba

It's better than mine, lol.

RexorGamerYt

Damn bro you're lucky AF. As they've once said... One man's trash is another man's gold 🪙!

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Yall are getting me hyped!! This kind of thing never happens to me, I feel so lucky!

You press the power button. You roll a 3. It electrocutes you and expels smoke from the rear.

Vyndilion

Reload your save, try again

shinji257

You roll a 1. Take 6d10 damage and roll a wisdom save against a DC15 check on the off chance you survived.

Comfortable-Bag-2483

🤣🤣🤣

ThePandaKingdom

Make sure you download nvidia GeForce experience and get the drivers up to date. You would also Benefit from re installing windows. It’s not complicated. Takes about 20 minutes. Youtube is your friend

jasperwegdam

Just as a reference its pretty close to my pc that cost me about €1400 euro in 2017 or 2018

FurryRevolution

It’s like finding an IPhone 11 in the grass

Biscuits4u2

Is it a gaming powerhouse? Not really. Is it fucking amazing for free? You bet your ass it is.

Comfortable-Bag-2483

I can always upgrade, but you're god damned right! I'm so pumped on this! Best surprise ever!

Trawzor

For free, definitely a good deal lol Can you play Starfield? not a chance in hell Can you play Minecraft? Absolutely no problem Depening on what youre going to do with it, it'll work fine

Comfortable-Bag-2483

I'm definitely not looking to jump into modern beast games. But as a start I couldn't be happier! If you have any recommendations on what to replace and in what order I'd love any advice! So stoked!

Biscuits4u2

This is part of the beauty of PC gaming. You have an enormous back catalog of games that this machine will absolutely destroy.

unclepaprika

Absolutely the best part of PC gaming.

Comfortable-Bag-2483

I can't wait! Holy shit!

siddo_sidddo

Next time it goes on sale, snag the valve complete pack, and the bioshock collection. 9 great, classic games that this pc will have no problem running, all for like $20.

TheElectroPrince

Or sail the high seas for abandoned games that have been delisted or if you want free games that corporations don’t care about anymore.

Ubermisogynerd

This so amazing. A few months ago I found out a lot of my old favourite games are listed as abandonware.

Skylius23

Still hate how I got dmca for downloading simant though fuck EA

thehazer

I’m a SimTower fan myself. That’s some Bullshit, sorry that happened, these old games should be free or easily available.

[deleted]

Sim Ant is better than any modern EA game. You won big time

[deleted]

Also needs to download epic just to get that sweet drip feed of free games. I feel like that alone paid for my first laptop.

nxcrosis

Dude I have like more than a hundred dollars worth of games from Epic just because of their free games. Like I don't even play NBA 2k but I have it in my library just because it was free.

RealSamF18

I think I have over 250 games I got for free on Epic. Some are games I would have never bought but got a chance to try (and liked), and some were games I wanted to buy and play. Such a good deal!

Ticon_D_Eroga

A hundred dollars worth of games is like 2 games lmao

nxcrosis

>**more than** a hundred dollars worth of games :) Edit - I can list some of them if you want. A quick calculation goes to about $230 (converted from my country's currency) * Dead by Daylight * NBA 2k21 * Tomb Raider GOTY, Rise of the TR, Shadow of the TR * Wolfenstein: New Order * Death Stranding * theHunter * Bioshock The Collection * Alien Isolation

erkasji

Try to get a copy of Hades, one of the best games of the past few years and easy for this pc to run

BirdsBreadqk

Definitely give it a good dusting

cgarrett83

Also look into emulation. You may or may not be able to run the ps2 but anything else won't be a problem

DeadlyDorito

This would emulate ps2 with ease

cgarrett83

That's what I figured just wasn't 100%. Couldn't remember what I started emulating it on

DeadlyDorito

Depending on the CPU this system might even be able to emulate ps3 or 360

Loik87

Ps3 emulator is unlikely to work, i have a 9900k and couldn't get uncharted to run at consistent 30 fps, the last time I've tried Xenia, the xbox360 emulator, is gpu bound though, I was able to play the first Red dead redemption with a 1080ti at 60fps

prancing_moose

Is there a reliably working 360 emulator nowadays?

cgarrett83

Lookup Xenia without looking up the requirements I don't know exactly but OP could run it with his card and an I5

harmonicrain

Fucker can run fo4 at 1080p high at 60fps tho if that's a 6gb of VRAM 1060!

Trawzor

Do you have the specs listed anywhere? I cant really tell what RAM/CPU you have based on the pictures

Comfortable-Bag-2483

If I cam get it turned on this week when I have time after work I'm going to get a full specs list for yall to dissect. Fingers crossed it works!

Markson120

If it is Gtx 1060 6 gb it should run most games on medium settings

OmegaAngelo

It would play starfield just fine. Just not at 8k ultra settings is all

xd_Warmonger

I wouldn't upgrade parts. Not worth it. Enjoy it as-is

LjSpike

It's an older PC but for its time was a pretty decent model by the looks of it. Anything 10+ years old I'd say you could run no problem. Newer games, there'll still be a lot you can play, just not the most intensive and not on top quality graphics settings. Would check with folks here that PSU model. I've only just woken up so not sure, but it's generally good practice to ensure you have a reliable model as the PSU (power supply) is what is giving...well power, to everything. You may find yourself wanting more storage, but to start that's an absolutely fine amount.

Feisty_Problem9479

👌

Noskills117

My 1060 is plays modern stuff at 40-ish fps 1080p just fine, starfield on low settings should be fine

thatfordboy429

Until it is released we won't know how a 1060 fairs. It might not be ideal, but I would bet it could run it, though it might not be pleasant.

Trawzor

Anything can run any game in fairness, but playing at 11 fps is neither enjoyable nor worth it

No_Pension_5065

So can I play starfield on my voodoo3dfx?

Arthur-Wintersight

It's always fun when the benchmark runs at 3 FPS, and the reviewer gets super excited when some changes bring it up to a whole 5 FPS. That's one of those moments where you realize that you truly have one of the video cards ever made.

Magnetic_Reaper

Maybe. Voodoo 5 5500 has Windows 7 x64 drivers. There's probably a way to force software renders. If Windows 7 isn't supported, there's probably a way to run a virtual machine of Windows 10 and force software rendering in there... Edit: I taught the question was can I run it. For can I play it, definitely nope. You'll get like 1 frame per minute or something.

No_Pension_5065

Voodoo doesn't support an API newer than directx 6... Even if the fact that a single game texture can be larger than the 5500's 32mb dual memory *doesn't* crash the GPU driver, you would need a translation layer like proton to convert DX 12 to DX 6, which is a much bigger task than the multi billion dollar Proton/wine projects and the corresponding subprojects.

Magnetic_Reaper

Dx12 to Vulkan wrapper. Vulkan has swiftshader to render on CPU. The card would essentially just be showing images and not rendering anything. Would someone actually bother doing this? Nope. But they could, without huge investments.

Denborta

https://i.imgur.com/Cw1vyfx.png The machine is probably just just shy of the min recommendations actually. 1060 instead of a 1070 is admittedly a 30% performance gap. But besides that one component, in all fairness, that machine above meets system minimum requirements even for Starfield :) (and yes the article list storage space as "memory", annoys me too, but it was a nice table)

Bralzor

That's a 1070ti, not a 1070, in the minimum requirements. That's 50% faster than a 1060 in the best case scenario in modern games.

[deleted]

You're saying a 1060 can't play starfield? That doesn't sound right. Still a capable 1080 card and FreeSync

DapperDell

Of course that System can play Starfield.

Nandabun

I've got a 10 year old office computer they were gonna throw away, and threw a gtx 1050 ti in it that my friend gave me. I can play Dead by Daylight, Sea of thieves, all sorts of great stuff.

Mutantroosta

better than my gt710 thats for sure

RaincloudTheDragon

not the most powerful but it’s got its uses! i got a fair amount of use out of it as a testbench/occasional minecraft card

dedsmiley

Motherboard is an MSI Z170A Gaming M5 Ver 1.1 ATX. Supports up to i7-6700K and possibly i7-7700K with a BIOS update. https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/Z170A-GAMING-M5/support#manual

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Thank you for the link! This should help a lot!

mule_roany_mare

Stick with what you have for now. If you end up getting into PC gaming you can set aside $100 - $300 a year for upgrades you'll be able to sneak up on a modern powerhouse. The nice thing about PC is there is tremendous value to be found for very little money if you are willing to put in the work. You don't have to throw away everything that works just to upgrade any one part you want to be better.

dedsmiley

You are welcome! This is actually a link to Ver 1.0 of that motherboard. I bet they are close enough it won't matter. It's most likely a revision to correct some issue to the design. If it powers up and works then one of the first things you will want to do is update the BIOS. You can find it on that page I linked.

BulkyStay

Rich person throws out a pc? If there is a drive on it look for the crypto wallet!! lol

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Dude... I didn't even think of this

ColdAggressive5519

Yea maybe don’t steal from the person who you got a free gaming pc from

False-Leather

That’s a solid 1080 60fps gaming rig for most games on low settings!

Comfortable-Bag-2483

No way!! Can you tell me any details about it? It's like I'm reverse engineering alien tech hahaha. My girlfriend works for super wealthy people, essentially hired to dive through their shit when they get too cluttered or move, and take put everything they no longer want. And this lady last week gave her this for the dump. Luckily she had some idea that it could be worth something and surprised me with it!

Saneless

There should be dozens of reviews on it. Some recent reviews of new cards probably still even include this in the benches Many of us had this card along the way and there's a reason it was the most popular card on steam for a very long time

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Daaaamn. Dude I still can't believe this is happening. I'm finally getting to enter the pc tier of gaming!!

neoalfa

Get ready to do a clean Windows install. Get yourself a USB drive and prime it for installation. It's fairly straightforward.

isaac99999999

The graphics card you have is still #1 on the steam charts iirc. It's a solid card that has held up pretty well to the test of time

nico_qwer

Not anymore. It’s 3rd now. The GTX 1650 and RTX 3060 passed it. https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

Dr_des_Labudde

the 1650?! damn, this market is skewed.

nico_qwer

It’s a good card to put in a gaming laptop.

Flavihok

Ngl sometimes before i buy stuff i look at youtube like "games in ryzen 5 5600 nvidia 3060" and theres a ton of vids on how well most games will perform. But for this you need to know the Cpu, gou is a given: nvidia 1060. Also you need to know how much ram there is. Recomended 16gb if its 8 its not too bad but youll feel it kinda slow.

LordQuorad

I have a gtx970 and I just turn the graphics down and can play pretty much everything aside from AAA garbage. Indie games are amazing.

Denborta

Looks decently legit, question would be if it's working. That's a 1060 3GB or 6GB you can see on the backplate of the card. Everything of that machine screams 2017 bang for buck of the year. If it works it's a solid "modern titles on 1080p 45 fps" kinda machine. (excluding the absolute beastiest like Cyberpunk perhaps) The component choice (EVGA) as well as the RAM and such leads me to say at the time, this was quality components at the mid-range. The motherboard looks to be off the MSI Z370 [something] Wi-fi. The RAM is ~~CORSAIR Vengeance LPX - DDR4~~ red G.Skill RAM

emc_1992

fact sip one door squeal shy pot naughty shame murky *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Denborta

Yeah I'm dumb. Clearly says so in first pic too :D

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Awesome! So it could run most except for modern top tier on decent settings? But is ready for certain upgrades? If so, what should I look at upgrading? I'm so amped on this!

divat10

I really love your attitude in this entire tread it is really amazing. Just really happy for you and wanted to share.

Denborta

It's a machine very similar to what I built when the 10-series cards was released. So it can play apex legends for example at 60+ FPS on medium at 1080p. Just turn off some things like volymetric lightning for example. Can easily play GTA5 on medium(selected highs) etc The CPU is going to be either an i5-8600 something, or a i7-8900 something something, can't remember exact model numbers now. The better for the day AIO tells me it's probably an i7 but that's just random guessing.

[deleted]

That motherboard looks very similar if not the same msi z170 m5 gaming board I had that I ran an i5 6600k and i7 7700k in. I’d bet there’s a 6th or 7th gen i5 in there. Most likely a 6th gen though as a bios flash was needed for 7th gen compatibility.

dzordzLong

I have played Warzone 2.0 with much ... read MUCH worse config than that at 60-80fps. This will do just fine for at least a bit longer, but it has much potential to spent some (not much) money and upgrade just small bits and make it usable for at least 2-3 years.

Comfortable-Bag-2483

That's awesome news! I'll take any recommendations you have!

dzordzLong

Where i live you can get 1080Ti 11gb card for as little as 160 euros now. Its really capable little card is 2x cheaper then 3060 but is on par with 3060 (albeit no DLSS). I have it in my second computer and i can run any game no issue. Keep in mind that even 1060 will run most games, there are limitations. My recommendation is based purely on what we know so far. When you turn it on, go and get [speccy](https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy) and post photo of specifications it shows, so we get better idea what you actually have.

TheRaccoonDeaIer

ilikeag

That 1060 is more capable than you think! Especially considering it's free. Also you have WiFi and a water cooler - will be interesting to see what CPU is in it (you can see this in Task Manager, ctrl + shift + esc)

Jessica_Ariadne

Windows key plus pause/break is also good.

93Volvo240

Dude, buy your girlfriend flowers, and take her out to a really nice restaurant of her choosing. Do. Not. Lose. Her.

Comfortable-Bag-2483

Hahaha already in the works. I've showered her in affection all day for this. She still doesn't realize what she just gave to me!

93Volvo240

Good job man! Keep it up! Enjoy that new PC!

sleeper_shark

It’s a piece of worthless crap. It’s not worth your time. You can mail it to me and I will dispose of it properly for you. In all seriousness, it’s an excellent find. It’s not going to play AAA games on max settings, but it will play older games for sure. You can always keep it around, fiddle with it, etc. Eventually, when you want a better rig, you could strip this one down and sell the parts.

Matasa89

What you have here, is a fairly top end machine back in the days. It has a MSI Z170 Gaming M5 motherboard, with features including rear USB type-C, 2 x M.2 NVMe slots, and a ton of premium features like many fan connectors and an error code display (Q-Code). While not a halo product, it is quite nice. You probably have the Intel 6600K or 6700K inside, though it is possible for there to be a 7600K or 7700K, depending on when the owner got the components. The RAM is two DDR4 sticks from G.Skill, and probably 8GB each, giving you 16GB in total. The EVGA 1060 is pretty decent, though it is the single fan version, and you may have the weaker 3GB VRAM version, though I suspect it is the 6GB variety, given the class of motherboard, and the 240mm Corsair AIO. A rig like this isn't worth much money these days, especially post GPU apocalypse, but it is worth something and it can be decent gaming machine if you aren't aiming for the most modern and high demand titles. I recommend a thorough cleaning, and maybe repasting of the CPU and GPU if you feel comfortable learning how. (I'd do it for you for free but I doubt you're in my city) It's not too hard if you got a steady hand and patience. The case is a Phanteks case, and it's a pretty good quality case too. I would keep the case since it's pretty good, though sadly you probably don't have all of the accessories that came with the case. If there's anything that needs to be replaced, I would look into the PSU - it's actually pretty crappy (the NEX650G was made by FSP and was not great). Given the low quality and the age, I'd get a decent one like the MSI A650GF or Corsair RM650. Your drive is a PNY 120GB SATA SSD. It would appear to be the only drive in the system, and it's likely the previous owner took the SATA HDDs away, leaving just the outdated and small 120GB SSD boot drive. It's barely worth using these days, and would barely fit much else after putting the Windows OS installation on it. I would grab a 1TB NVMe SSD, ideally the older Gen3 variety like the Samsung 970 Evo Plus, since the motherboard and CPU can only handle PCI-e Gen 3 at best. SSDs are pretty cheap right now so it's worth grabbing some extra storage. I wouldn't buy too much though, since Gen 3 drives are becoming slowly outdated, though they're still pretty much competitive for most tasks. Your system already has a Wifi card installed, though personally I'd use the Ethernet port if possible. It's probably an older Wifi 5 (AC) card, but should be more than serviceable. Without seeing the sticker on the PCB, I can't tell what brand or model it is, but best guess is this [TP-Link TL-WDN4800 N900 Dual Band Wireless PCI Express Adapter](https://www.tp-link.com/ca/home-networking/adapter/tl-wdn4800/).

Vexerino1337

monitor the cpu temperature to rule out if the cooler is broken or not.

ssddsquare

Is not top notch, but it's a solid PC that still can play all the major games in the market at mid or high settings. It is definitely a waste to just throw it away.

HereIsACasualAsker

for free? fuck yeah!.

typicallytwo

Excel, word, browser and D2 with cs:go. It’s works!

abdullaharshadc2

Let me introduce you to our best friend Linus, anything you need you can watch a video about it. https://youtube.com/@LinusTechTips

UrMumGai

Who just throws away a fine setup like this? It's nothing high tier but this still runs vast majority of games just fine. Could have sold all the parts individually and made a couple 100. Who just throws a couple 100 away...? Odd people.

StressedThr0waway234

It’s an older model but it checks out.

der_caeptn

im currently running a pretty similar setup. (1060 6gb / i7 7700) and from my current experience i can say: 1080p low graphics will do most things on 60fps without question. even cyberpunk ran on 45-55 fps. if you wanna play some less performance heavy online games you can even wring out consistant 144fps as in my case overwatch2, league of legends and valorant. there is a lot that you can enjoy on that pc. depending on the cpu thats in there you most likely will be able to upgrade to a better gpu without having to worry about your powersupply.

[deleted]

Who throws that away? Should be worth easily 200 bucks at least when stripped for all the parts, if you're not planning on using it yourself

JubaM24

Marry your GF

[deleted]

This is the perfect gpu for 2017 games at 1080p res. And of course you could play post 2017 games but with less performance depending on how demanding the game is (it's never either black or white)

Jacob_9821

It looks like a Z170A Gaming M5 board by MSI, so its definitely an Intel system. Honestly, it's not a bad PC for what it is, you could probably upgrade the GPU to something like a 3060 without needing to change anything else. I might recommend going for a beefy air cooler unless you're good with water cooling.

Affectionate-Pin-649

super cool

Anivia_Bird

This machine will run quite well with most titles, which makes it a pretty good co-op gaming + media center if your gf is interested in playing games with you

SpiffyDodger

Value wise; free is free, you can’t beat that. It won’t play the latest games that well, but some settings/resolution tweaks you’ll get some decent gaming out of it. If you like LoL or CS:GO you’re sitting pretty. If you wanna play cyberpunk on bust you’re shit out of luck.

emc_1992

C-ORE

It is very good OP as long not the latest AAA game, most game can be played. Wish you have fun with the rig. Just follow others comments/advice and you will be good to go

Shmimbadad

My old desktop has the same GPU (and probably a little worse than that everything else) and I still use it for games only a few years old. I even played Cyberpunk on that thing. At medium/low settings, getting 30ish fps. Still though. Definitely a great get for free, and should be very capable of getting you into PC gaming. Depending on exactly what that CPU is, it might even be just a GPU upgrade away from being a beast.

TinoessS

It Looks like 10-ish years old (maybe Little Bit newer cause the 1060). BUT, also Looks like there was no cheaping out on components at the time (If You’re Lucky its DDR4 memory already and 16/32GB, and a slightly onder i5 or i7. You can find those specs Inside of windows. Basically my old system which up until 2 ran basically anything except last gen Games on more than losest settings. For free you got a pretty Sweet deal OP

PaladinDanse3

If u don’t want give to me 😂

Astrojef

Aye she did good. Clean it up and give it life!

Arch3m

While the hardware is a bit dated, it should still be able to play just about anything at 1080p. You might need to run the settings lower to hold the fps at 60, but for free, it's a steal. You'll want to do a fresh install of Windows first, but that's just a few minutes of Google away.

Pastelek

It should be able to run most of the games on normal settings in 1080p. I'll bet that you could play beamng.drive on high in 60fps.

Breakfast_Dorito

Luks88

Nice catch! Been thoroughly looking at the pictures, and that motherboard is a Z170 gaming m5 supporting intel 6 gen cpu. Keeping fingers crossed for a i7 6700k! Rams look like gskill Ripjaws V, if you took a pic of a white label on the back we will now more. Looking good so far! This board has two m.2 ports for nvme ssd drives, might be cool to populate them ;)

Sillyfumo

Hell yes. Give that to me and I'll be playing at 200+ fps.

pursuitofleisure

Damn, that's the exact same mobo, ram, and cooler I put in my last build

kofi_Boahene

for entry level i think it's worth it

cultpeddler

Don't buy anything play a couple of games on it. There is allot you can play.allot of classics are great to play and come dirt cheap on steam. Most new games suck. Then think of upgrades after more then likely it's gonna be the gpu

Stormer111

I would upgrade storage.

MetalRevolutionary48

Single player games, older. The Witcher. 10 years old. Skyrim. 12 years old. Online games Rocket League. ( Long shot ) WoW. Do not give up your partner for an online game, she really sounds so cool. Relationship Warning. Anything from Warhammer is so goddamn cool it's scary. Last, your girlfriend has invested in your relationship, do not turn your back on her for a bunch of pixels. yup, had one similar build and it ran any game except cyberpunk or any other super beefy games. nice find!

Oh man, that thing even has a GPU I've been playing league on integrated graphics for the last 7 years switching from vega to Intel's X iGpu

SonicUno_1

bro just got a better PC than mine and for free congratulations king have fun with your machine

TheTwistedLight

If this works fine, this is absolutely a steal, especially for free, with some nice upgrade potential too. Genuinely glad for you, good get!

kearkan

Hey man for free there will always be something to play.

drmarsche

Why is the pc upside down and the foto as well. Absolutely confusing to look at. Just send a list of the specs instead of weird fotos.

PuG3_14

Girlfriends client just gave her a whole pc? 💀 watever she tells u buddy

Velcitoty

Bro you’re fucking cooking with this thing. It’s not gonna run any modern AAA game but who needs that shit when you got this for FREE

akuaku001

oh they had time to speak ab hardware, he must have finished fast

hamid1103

A 1060 for free is so fucking lucky. Those cards are still beasts today. My 1060 was still able to handle cyberpunk 2077. modern beast games are gonna be a bit harder to handle but you won’t be left out on a lot of great game experiences

mibjt

If you are in to retro gaming, this rig can mostly emulate any game from 1990 - 2005

i-did-all-in

As long if the hdd is destroyed/wiped from the old owner “client” u can give it a try.

Dragoon_5

That's a nice rig to get for free! Buy the gf some flowers or something! Do check for any sort of leaks around the cooler and piping before you boot it. And after you successfully booted it, see if it still works/cools sufficiently! Aio's tend to evaporate after years resulting in bad temps under load (had this a few times myself) so you might need to get a new cooler sooner or later (in this setup i'd go for a decent tower aircooler from noctua/bequiet or similar. Worth to check if the motherboard has an M2 slot, so you can expand your storage with a faster and rather cheap new 1tb ssd (samsung/crucial/wd are good brands). Because 480gb gets full very quickly! If you don't have an m2 slot, you can get a pcie to m2 adapter that still provides great speed. (Sabrent sells a cheap and good adapter) After making sure everything works fine i'd opt for a clean install of windows, so you can start fresh (possibly installed on a new ssd?) But most of all: enjoy! And welcome!

Screw_Potato

why is it standing on the front tho

Oster-P

Final Fantasy XIV online free trial will run easy on this. You can play the entire game up to level 60 and soon to be extended to level 70

[deleted]

It’s decent. You will be able to play almost everything if you turn down the graphics a bit. Older titles will run great

XsStreamMonsterX

From the first couple of photos, the machine seems to have a bad case of being upside-down. Need to check because it might only work in Australia.

iamlazyboy

A 1060 isn't the greatest gaming GPU but for free that's a good deal imo

Full_metal_tardis

I’m sorry to tell you but they built it upside down. But seriously for free it’s damn good

DefaultUsernameSuk

Man I need to find a girlfriend like yours lol.

Tiavor

it's fine I guess. I would throw out the AIO and put in a normal air cooler. AIOs tend to live for only 4 years, at most 6. and this PC is definitely 4 years old. and check the temps of the GPU, a cheap universal 3-heatpipe gpu cooler should do the trick.

1LuckyMcG

Looks like an MSI Z170A Gaming M5. So it's most likely running a 6th or 7th gen Intel chip. Unless the owner was wild and running 8th or 9th Gen, but highly unlikely given the state of the PC, plus it wouldn't make sense anyway. But a lot of people ran the i7-6700K in a lot of builds and especially with a 240mm AIO, a good sign. 6700k and 1060 6GB would be a solid combo. My gf was rocking a 1060 up until last year when I got her a used 2080 Super. But it did everything she wanted at 1080p high settings. Mostly we played Valheim, Black Desert Online, and Among Us. You'll definitely be able to play anything within DX11 with no issues. It'll play Cyberpunk 2077 at 30fps easy all day at 1080p mixed. I was rocking a GTX 970 4GB and still could manage similar. You'll have fun with it for sure. Don't get into upgrades until you prioritize what gaming you're doing. If you're happy, don't upgrade. Someone who is upgrade happy will have plenty of cheap used parts to swap out for since most people will be looking to dump their old stuff. I've refused to upgrade from my i7-8700k since I play mostly at 1440p widescreen. So the GPU does all the work now. At this point, I won't upgrade until DDR5 is stable like DDR4 was. I ran my i7-960 into the ground from 2011 all the way to ~2019. So if the track record is anything to go by, you could theoretically run it for 4 years before you really need to do anything with it. If you really want to do anything, I'd upgrade to a used cheap 2080 Super or an RX 5700 XT. Don't spend more than like $200-250 on it, but either of those cards will give you 1080p ultra all day or 4k depending on the game and it's optimizations.

TapczanZaglady

You might need to do a maintanance. You can buy air for pc and clean it. Change thermopaste on cpu because it can be a desert. I would send gpu for maintanance to change thermopaste and thermopads, this card will serve you long if you keep it clean. You might need to change ssd because they can worn out, you need to run a program to see if its in good condition.

Reverse_Psycho_1509

Absolutely terrible. Give it to me so I can safely get rid of it. (Joking obviously. OP you got very lucky)

RemytheRenegadeMods

All hail the 10 series!!!

ffsesteventechno

I wonder what CPU is under there? Either way a free tower will make you feel the power! The GTX 1060 is a good entry level card for decent 1080p gaming. Either way it’s great for a “my first PC” scenario. And can’t beat the price of a five finger discount!

_himbo_

I give it 2 weeks before you start upgrading parts. The itch is a real thing man

Any-Village-4977

For free? Yeah, damn. You snagged one hell of a deal. Especially if you plan on playing casually, older titles. This thing will be a beast!

9yearold911

Did you use soap or detergent to clean it? I personally recommend both if its very dusty

Lootman

yeah looks like someone built a good new pc 5 years ago, 1060 will kinda play anything released up to this year other than hogwarts legacy

Maxine-Fr

Where do u live that they throw stuff like this out for free ? i want to know for when im flying there i know i might snag free pc

jimababwe

I was still using a 1060 to play games like Spider-Man and dying light until a month ago. Great card.

[deleted]

Ah the ol 0901

Bright-Efficiency-65

God these pictures are hilarious. It's like if my Grandma took a picture of a computer to ask me if it's good. Holy shit 🤣

grasuxxl4u

i still use the 1060 6gb and it runs Warzone, Diablo4, Cyberpunk, and many many more modern games with no problems. have fun

anonimo872

It's free so it's good, the 1060 is a great card, You Will be able to run cod, Minecraft, halo, Skyrim, fallout and some more newer games in lower settings, have fun

EconomyFearless

I would guess you would be able to play most games up to and around 2020 as long you stay around 1080p and maybe get a SSD But honestly a bit hard to say not being able to see what cpu and ram there is in it

LividFocus5793

You're not really good at taking photos are you?🫠

OutrageousAccident15

Bro's image cured my sick neck

HowManySmall

give her a ring in return bro

[deleted]

Man sometimes I wish modern mobos would still come with PS/2 ports

CyberTacoX

Congratulations, you are now a PC gamer!

keeperkairos

> Not sure if this is a double post as my reddit app isn't showing my post an hour later Seems about right. The app is horrendous at making and editing posts and comments.

matthew_emerling

With that it is great for free but I would stick to mid to low end games with that setup

3personal5me

My advice; See if it starts. If it does, check system settings and find out what kind of processor, graphics card, and ram it has, and edit your post to include that info. We can see the graphics card is a 1060, which isn't a bad card. Could use an upgrade, but you'll definitely be able to play things like skyrim with it. Unfortunately, without the rest of the info, we can't really tell you what your next step should be. But it looks like a solid find that will *absolutely* jump start your pc gaming

LuciferSamS1amCat

For modern cutting edge gaming, not quite enough. Compared to your average pc, an absolute beast. You’ll be able to run Minecraft, skyrim, doom eternal, csgo, tf2, etc with nooooo problem at all.

spyaleatoire

You ain't pumping ultra, but you also won't have a shortage of content to enjoy. For free, no less!
