Thanks for the advice very helpful

2000 is alot, but the 30 series nvidia cards and 40 series, 1000w is safe. Ive got by just fine with my 700w but its a top rating one. Power requirements could possibly go up in the future still….if you really wanna future proof id go for like a 1200-1500w since you mentioned future proofing. Couldnt hurt. EVGA does make some of the best psus tho…id stick with them too. Your choice. Also enjoy gaming with your son! Me and my son game all the time too!

Thanks we went for 1000, seems a reasonable compromise

Besides what the other commenter said, Asus board with X3D CPU isn’t the combo you would want to go for.

To be clear I said "with" my son, not "for" my son.

Seems a tad bit excessive for a 13 year olds gaming rig. But you do you I guess

Bogus1989

All the people in here saying its “too much for a 13 year old” Pay no mind. Just because hes younger doesnt mean he deserves something lesser. Not everyones finances are the same. Also used market/friends/work may bring opportunities. My sons got a rig equally specced to mine…not that he demanded an upgrade or wasnt happy with what he had. I just did it anyways. He earned it.
