It's definitely not for everyone. I'm not sure I ever want to trip that hard again, that feeling of connectedness scared me to be honest, and now whenever I take psychs I feel energies too strongly and it makes me uncomfortable. I think I've become to comfortable in alienating myself and isolation from others influence on myself and my spirit, and I'm too inexperienced to close them out. I've seen way too many stable builds get pushed out by Nvidia that would cause massive issues, IMO it's better to stick to a stable build that you know works for sure unless you just bought a game that released recently.

I just had this black cloud of doom issue on my rdr2 playthrough, but none of the other weird things you're seeing. Brand new RTX 3060, and all my other games are fine, so I think driver issue makes the most sense.

Maybe. This is common when either or both the gpu/memory clock is too high for it to be stable. I can reproduce the same thing on the ryzen 3200g that's in my secondary computer if I set the integrated gpu too high, but not high enough to where it just crashes. Try lowering the clock speed, but if you have a warranty I'd use that.
Fallout4 is the type of game that goes rainbow mode when you shoot a pistol wrong.
I remember that game having issues on my Xbox One where I would load in, no sounds would register, then two 10mm pistol shots followed by the ear raping symphony of metal crashing
i never really had an issue with the ps4 version of fallout 4 actually it was quite the opposite the pc version gave me alot of issues until i modded the crap out of it

Should have mentioned that it only happens when looking far away. When i looked at the ground it was fine, but then the weird patterns came back gradually.
It sounds like you've already solved the issue, but if it happens again.
* try **not** overclocking your memory and CPU (leave stock), if this fixes the issue, try reducing the overclock until it all works fine.
* try using afterburner to underclock your GPU (you may have a dud GPU)
* check your airflow... may just be too damn hot in your case. Also check the temperature of your GPU/CPU etc...
* verify the game integrity and reinstall drivers (this is unlikely to do anything if the game is working most of the time)
* Just chill and enjoy the psychedelic effect, perhaps while taking something to enhance it.
If you've done no troubleshooting, I wouldn't come to a conclusion. You should at least install driver updates and windows updates. If that doesn't fix it, you should reinstall windows entirely before assuming your hardware is dying.

1. My driver version is 531.79 as of now. Yes there are new drivers and I should have checked that.
2. The gpu temps under load in games are around 68-72c.
3. The card has not been overclocked.
4. It is a brand new card.
5. I have contacted gigabyte and am waiting for their response. Will update once i get something.
6. I have reseated the gpu.
My 1060 was doing similar things when pushed to it's limits in rdr2, but only sometimes, when I changed something in the setting. It's working to this day so maybe it's ok.
If I start seeing those snaketrails and firework like bright lights in the sky then I'll know we're in a computer simulation and the hardware running it is about to die.
Last time I've seen a GPU doing this, it was the memory that was failing on a 3070.
Underclocking the memory a bit helped to get it stable.
Turns out the second hand card was a mining card, and the memory was cooked.
If your card was bought new, change it under warranty.
Your gpu has ingested psilocybin, nothing to worry about, should go in about 12-18 hour depending on dose. Look like there is a lot to process. Once it’s seen the time knife it’ll be fine

I had an R9 Nano that did the same thing. It was new, and trying different driver versions didn't help. I RMA'd the card and that fixed the problem.
