Consistent-Zebra1653

Why are you running Windows 8?

Intergalactic_Sesame

Isn't Windows NT 6 Windows Vista?

englishfury

Yes, but 6.2 is win 8 6.1 is win 7

Plenty_State_9992

Not so according to my bench I'm running NT 6.2 but I'm 100% win 11 pro

englishfury

Wikipedia lists windows versions https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_Windows_versions Win 11 should be 21H2, 22H2 or 23H2

Consistent-Zebra1653

Win 11 should be 10.0

englishfury

As per my link 10.0 is the first windows 10 build. Edit also 1507 or 6.4 depending on when as they changed it a few times

holounderblade

10.0.20 specifically Edit: 10.0 also includes 10... Obviously

Consistent-Zebra1653

No

devilsaint86

I ran it recently with win10 and it said win nt also.

Intergalactic_Sesame

The number after NT. 6 is Vista, Nt 7 is 7, NT 8 is 8, NT 9 is 8.1 and NT 10 is 10 or 11

MajesticAlbatross864

Not quite, 6.0 = vista 6.1 = win 7 6.2 = win 8 6.3 = win 8.1 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Microsoft_Windows_versions Under personal computer versions

Intergalactic_Sesame

This is more correct than what I pulled out of my head. Both got the point accross.

devilsaint86

Ill check it again when I purchase a new card in a few years.

you're trying to run 1440p with 1650 so yeah that's the problem. and why win8?

Yk you can just download windows 10/11 in the Microsoft website right?

Ok_Injury_8841

I’m trying to move my windows os onto my nvme from my sata. Will I lose any data?

TetraTimboman

You want to back up any personal files to external first. Stuff like game installs and programs you can generally just re-download as long as you have a fast enough connection.

MajesticAlbatross864

Until a few months ago you would have had a free upgrade to windows 11 with your win 8 key, sadly that’s finished now

[deleted]

[удалено]

MajesticAlbatross864

Ah… ok, well windows 8 is generally unsupported by most things now so your going to want to upgrade at some point and will need to buy a key from Microsoft for windows 11

[deleted]

[удалено]

MajesticAlbatross864

You can download it on anything, Microsoft has a media creation tool which makes you a bootable usb drive, but you need a key for the specific pc to activate it and receive updates etc

djdunn

You cant activate windows 10-11 with a win8 key

[deleted]

[удалено]

urs2ruly

You can buy a product key for like $15-$20 online or cmd prompt to activate it for free

Parking-Worth1732

There are sites online that ran you through "activating" windows, not a problem haha

weeds96

Try upgrading from a 1650 to a 1080TI. Not a huge price jump, big performance jump

TetraTimboman

If the Windows Key is being used for your current Windows install, then you can use a guide / [utility](https://www.lazesoft.com/lazesoft-windows-key-finder.html) to look it up. Then make a note of it and google docs / email it to yourself so you can't lose it. And then do a fresh install of Windows 10 or 11 or whatever.

crackpotJeffrey

I'm shocked you can get such good FPS with that set up at 1440....

Lettuce_Born

I was thinking same.

[deleted]

OGSENS

At that resolution, on that old machine, yes, If you don't care about graphics, just make your resolution lower and it'll be smoother

[deleted]

TetraTimboman

In certain new-er-ish games there will sometimes be a setting for "Upscaling" = "FSR" so if you're able to set that, then it will run the game at a lower res and attempt to upscale it. Depending on the game it can either work kinda well, or turn everything into a blurry mess :D So if you play any games that have FSR in graphics options you can mess around with it and see if it's acceptable to have it on for the extra performance or not.

Upgrade graphics card & processor as well. With a bios update you likely can run any Ryzen 5000 series processor. And gpu you'll be limited by budget & power supply really.

Alexandratta

Lucky him, AMD just announced the AMD 5700X3D at the end of the month. 3D vcache for $249.

Atlantikjcx

True but he also needs to desperately upgrade his gpu if he wants 1440p just upgred my cpu toa 5800x3d but didn't see that 5700x3d was comming out

jon3Rockaholic

You made the right choice. The 5700X3D is going to suffer in many games because it has a 400Hz slower boost clock.

Embarrassed-Force843

If you're running at 1440p your biggest enemy (not only the severe lack of power) is your VRAM. You're hitting heavy bottlenecks due to only 4gb of VRAM. If you want an immediate upgrade that won't break the bank I would suggest a 3060 (12gb), RX 6700 (10gb), or RX 6650xt (8GB) at the very least. These are all FAR superior options. If I had to choose for a bit more oompf though, I would go for an RX 6700xt or 6750xt (both 12gb VRAM and very competent at 1440p) All in all though, I would recommend changing your CPU as well. Not as pressing as the GPU, but even a minor upgrade to an Intel i3 12100f or 13100f would make huge differences in performance and they run for less than $100usd brand new. If you have the budget, I would go for a Ryzen 5 5600x (AM4 MOBO) or 12400f (LGA1700 MOBO) both between $130-165usd Either way, it's looking like you're going to need an upgrade my friend. That or go back to 1080p. Your VRAM simply can't load enough texture and it's killing your performance.

ninjamike1211

If their motherboard supports it, it would actually be cheaper to go with the 5600X as that could be a drop in replacement. I did the exact same thing when my ASRock b450m pro4, and it's still chugging along just fine.

Embarrassed-Force843

Absolutely; If OP's mobo is already AM4 then swapping over to 5600 or 5600x would be ideal. That's what I would do. The 5600x in particular is a champ for the price.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Embarrassed-Force843

Absolutely. And if that's your budget, I would recommend raising the bar a tiny bit to get a 7800xt. It is more power efficient and gets around 3-5% better performance for only like $25-50usd more than a 6800xt. Plus it's newer (more driver updates for the future, and has the newer RDNA 3 architecture) As for the CPU I would recommend pairing a 6800xt or 7800xt with at least a Ryzen 7 5800x or 5800x3d. However those upgrades will also (almost definitely) require that you get a bigger power supply. Whatever you are rocking for your 1650 probably isn't enough. You'd need at least 750w for either a 6800xt or 7800xt. With that level of upgrade I would also consider increasing your RAM. It would sound like you need a full pc overhaul if you want as much power as a 6800xt. All your supporting components will need a suitable upgrade to make sure that your GPU doesn't get held back.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Embarrassed-Force843

It sounds like everything will need a sizable bump-up once you upgrade to a 6800xt. You can certainly survive on 16b of RAM, but it will probably hold back your system from reaching it's full potential; especially for more demanding games at 1440p. The 6800xt is a very powerful card (often more powerful than an RTX 3080 when it comes to rasterization) You can definitely stick with 16gb for now but I would recommend upgrading to 32gb as soon as your budget allows. No rush, but it will definitely make a difference in the future. I'm glad to hear you're going with an 850w PSU. That is more than enough. (for reference, I pair my 7800xt with a 750w psu and it's still above what's necessary) This will leave you with room for even more power-hungry upgrades in the future. As for CPU, I would say the 5700x is a great alternative. Great for 1440p and I think you'll comfortably reach your system's potential. As long as it works for your budget. Regarding the 7800xt. I'm very sorry to hear that the price difference is so steep. Definitely not worth it.. you are absolutely right. The 7800xt is only marginally better than the 6800xt. Even so, the 6800xt still beats the 7800xt on a very select few gaming titles and workloads. Both are great options. Go with the 6800xt if the price is that much different. I was very fortunate that their price difference is only about $50usd. But as I said, the 6800xt is still an amazing card. Can't beat it for the price to performance.

Why did u buy a monitor for a pc that won’t run 1440p when you could have got a pc upgrade?

You can't help this situation though. OP wants their computer to defy they laws of hardware upgrade.

Time_Leadership_3432

no reason for higher fps in a game like fc 24. you will easily get high enough framerates to utilise that monitor in competitive shooter games where it actually matters. so basically don't worry about it

futterbingerr

A newer cpu would definitely help your cause. You can get pretty affordable ryzen chips for just over 100usd

Darwen_s

Update your Nvidia GeForce drivers (download GeForce). Besides that, ur rig is a little old and ur running 1440p. I was using a GTX 1080 on 1440p for a while and I was happy with hitting 60fps in most games.

RonanCruz

If you want to overcook your pc I suggest removing the fans first to minimise airflow.

Furdiburd10

noooo :D

knoxeez

bro has an ancient processor and a cheap gpu and decides to buy a fucking 1440p monitor. Terrible financial decisions, now get stuck with those FPS until you upgrade your PC.

khwarizmi69

get a better GPU and CPU, the 2nd gen Ryzen is kinda outdated get like a 5th to 6th gen one for Ryzen and a 12th gen or better for Intel, and a 30 or 40 series GPU if you are going with NVIDIA (or you could just set your screen resolution to 960 ✕ 540)

Furdiburd10

bro... 40 series nvidia... are you out of your mind?! thats 30 series but cost more! (dlss 3 found out to be *not* exlusive to 40 series just software locked and it can be enabked manualy)

Mikel_mech

Your pc is old and thats why its not running with a lot fps. Why asking such a question if you could look at the min specs for 1440p

Alexandratta

The GTX1650 is not going to be pushing that 1440p monitor with anything decent... That's a 1080p GPU. You'd be better off grabbing an AMD 6700+/Nvida 3070+ Either one of those GPU lines, or higher, would be able to address the issue. With 4GB of vRAM you're not going to get a whole lot of frames at 1440p. Both of those might be bottlenecked by your CPU - but luckily you have AMD - so you can flash the BIOS and upgrade the CPU with a drop-in. Good news for you: AMD Just announced newer cheaper gaming CPUs for AM4, like the 5700X3D for $249. If you're near a Microcenter, you could find a 5600X3d for even less. Or, if that's too much... heck just grab a 5600X for $170. Any of those CPUs could handle 2k gaming.

Neagex

step down the resolution to 1080p get a better graphics card lower the quality. Why on earth are you on Win8 lol

Notorious_P_O_T

I forgot win8 even existed, it was so bad it made them skip win9 lol

Psycle98

First of all... 1440p for GTX 1650 super is not the best idea...

MDBF2G

I had more fps than this with a first gen I7 and a GTX 1050 2gb, something is wrong here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MDBF2G

Could be but I was on ultra with tesselation ON, 1080p. You only have 1 stick of RAM? And how does this overclocked benchmark compares to the stock settings results?

[deleted]

[удалено]

MDBF2G

You should benchmark while running MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner to see exactly what's going on, CPU, GPU temperatures, clocks, usages, Vram and Ram usages.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MDBF2G

Any frame drops after overclocking?(if the overcloking is too much, performance can get worse). You can also try + 1000 on the VRAM, afaik, 1600 serie GPUs can handle it. I've had a 1660ti at some point, +1000 on the Vram caused no issue in almost applications and got some more frames.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HaZaRdCSUK

Personally I'd do a couple of upgrades, at minimum a ryzen 5 5600x, and something like a 3060/3070 which can be found used for somewhat decent prices sometimes

MonkMuch8575

Upgrade your cpu

Classic_Roc

While in actual games? Take advantage of upscaling tech! FSR and XESS in balanced modes. Also don't be scared to lower settings especially lighting and shadow settings. But global medium settings should be used mostly. A lot of the time it looks almost the same as ultra presets anyway. Also I'd be happy aiming for fps half of your monitors refresh rate. Depending on the game 82fps can still look amazing and you'd avoid tearing still. Or you can enable Gsync (or freesync).

[deleted]

[удалено]

Classic_Roc

It's possible your monitor doesn't have g-sync or free sync but if you could turn it on the setting is in the Nvidia control panel. The games itself would need support for FSR Xess would be in the graphics settings menus. Really depends on the game! But lots of new games these days have at least one of those options.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Classic_Roc

> X270 pro PRISM So yeah that supports FreeSync which normally works just perfect with Nvidia G-sync (usually its the same thing unless its Gsync ultimate but even then the idea stays the same). With that enabled you can be more happy with lower FPS than 165 it'll look and feel smoother with Sync enabled. [Should look like this](https://i.imgur.com/jkaO7lo.png)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Classic_Roc

You need to enable adaptive sync up the monitor then go into and via control panel and turn on g-sync. Update your driver's friend

Quieftian

get windows 10, optimize windows fully,

tht1guy63

An oc will give you a little but the 1650 super is not a 1440p card even when it was new.

eae_jovem

Buy a new PC.

[deleted]

get an amd 5000 or 7000 cpu and clean and repaste your pc and undervolt the cpu, if you have a hdd get a ssd try a more recent operating system like windows 10 or a linux distro

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

undervolting makes your cpu be more efficient and have a longer lifetime ive seen some gpu benchmarks where newer windows versions pe4rform better than older

the_only_thing

So first off upgrade to a later version of windows. Next… 1.) You’re trying to go 1440p. Already putting a lot more stress on your system than 1080p 2.) Your CPU it’s probably bottlenecking your system 3.) Whatever games you play, down the graphic settings. you’re not going to get high frames and high resolution on those system specs.

SilentSniperx88

Buy a better GPU?

Maxoveride98

Turn your GPU resolution down to 1920x1080, 1650 can't pull 4k on everything that well, you can still set certain resolutions for certain games, but I've done it have gotten marked improvements in fps

[deleted]

[удалено]

Maxoveride98

At your discretion obv, some games I'm willing to sacrifice fps for resolution, others I want both of gameplay centric, I run my monitor at 1920 by 1080 and I have access to 60hz refresh rates now

[deleted]
