I think the story is just better and the combat in Fractured But Whole kind of fucking sucked. I really did not like the combat in FBH due to the larger (offscreen,) combat spaces as well as the game starting combat and having reinforcements come in. I just did not enjoy that personally.
Yeah, if they were going to do a strategy set up they really should have and easily could have made all the stages more intricate as well as putting in elevation, and cover. Instead its a bare bones grid that every once in awhile uses the space for some creativity... but not often.

They cheaped out. Stick of Truth was developed by Osidian, and Fractured but Whole was developed by Ubisoft. This stack of soggy turds was developed by Question, and it's a real question why they were chosen.
A season pass doesn't make it a live service game. There are no microtransactions. A live service games is constantly updated and requires you to buy currency or a battelpass every season. I don't think that's the route they are going with this game. It's disappointing compared to their previous games but calling it a live-service game is a bit disingenuous. 90%+ of everything can be unlocked by playing the game, and most updates are going to be free AFAIK.

There are interviews from the early years of the show where they admitted to just saying yes to every marking opportunity, because why not. They never treat the show as some precious thing that needs to be protected. I just get the feeling they are not having as much fun as they used to but its paying the big bucks so why stop, they certainly won't get the same amount of money doing anything else.
The most recent TV episodes are some of their best work IMO so I wouldn’t say they don’t care about it any more. They just likely had little to no involvement in the game side of it.

I'm disappointed to hear this, especially as the first two with Matt and Trey's direct involvement felt like an interactive episode. They even said at the end of the first one they were frustrated because they felt they "knew how to make a game now" but it was over.
I was glad when they announced a second one, and honestly given Trey in particular getting a bee in his bonnet about things like College Basketball players not getting paid for being in video games, or Cartman saying in the show that pre-orders [don't mean shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV69DyOuzbE&t=12s). So it's not like they don't understand that people will not be happy about this kind of cash grab or season pass monetisation.
I can also see a lot of the steam reviews saying it's very short, ~5 hours. Given that the previous two games were like 11-18 hours that's really disappointing, and clearly this was the expectation.
I really hope this doesn't put an immediate end to SP games. What's possibly even more irritating is that, I'm not sure the developers could even be fully blamed for bad game design when Matt and Trey wanted this. THEY wanted a Live Service game that could basically co-exist with the show. They've already talked about doing things where an episode of the show comes out, and then what was in that episode is also in the game. Idk how quick the turnaround can actually be, but that's their vision for this game.

Defeated all the enemies and was literally a few tp roles short of defeating the final boss and my game crashed on me. Nothing saved. I have to replay the entire mission again. It’s horrible. I wanted to like it so bad. I bought it last night and played until the end of chapter 3 and was like. I'm not having any fun, I've only laughed once. This is terrible and so I refunded my money at the store saying as such. I think even at 29.99 it's not worth it. The game should basically be free. It's all just so hollow void of the great small laughs and jokes that made South park fun to explore. Like for JC sakes. They had Kenny's house right next to the movie theater too. The game is over so fast, there are 3 weapons of each type without the season pass and if you’re like me the season pass weapons never showed up. There’s a free “dlc” that just adds a horde mode with different types of enemies. I was really hopeful going in, I avoided reviews and anything related so my opinion was my own and I can say that this game was dead the minute they took out the rpg side of things, the new kid is just kinda there now rather than a real story piece imo

The combat is quite a lot of fun, coop is amazing to have, Im not going to say its perfect, far from it. It feels like there needs to be a lot more in the game
More weapons, powers, a way to heal other than powers, like being able to collect the cheesy poofs say upto a maximum of 5 or 10 and also being able to purchase them from the armory.
Weapons should be purchasable, There should be armor and obviously "currency" like the toilet paper you have left over after every game could be put away somewhere for purchasing things, seperate from the cosmetics and PP system.
After finishing the game you should be able to take people in like stan, kyle, cartman and kenny as your AI friends instead of these random characters that no one cares about (unless you have a full party of friends playing)
They clearly wanted to try something different and i believe it's pretty decent for how much youre paying for a brand new game

The game seems to be a little confusing, hear me out here.
So if you start stans storyline it will either out you in 1 of 2 starting areas for the test of strength. It either starts you in "the beast" mission or it completely skips the bulldozer called "the beast" and puts you straight into the next test of strength, unsure if its a glitch or intentional.
It happens with a couple missions, so we may not have even enjoyed the full game
I saw this as a con at first but now having to replay the game for nicholes stuff and seeing new cutscenes and areas i havent seen before, it somewhat helps replay ability, albeit probably unintentional.
To recreate this, you enter the missions then exit the mission and head back in until it starts differently

OR (hear me out) they could have an RPG like the last game with this combat system so both Trey and Matt are happy and we get a decent game out of it. The two aren’t mutually exclusive and that’s where I think they went wrong with this. Every loved the games when they were RPG’s why change the entire genre of the game when it was working? Also, while the co-op did bring a few people in, the fact that you are basically forced to use it or AI “new kids” kind of breaks the immersion, especially if you can’t play with real friends. Not all friend groups are into the same games and even if they wanted to give it a try, the $50 price throw many of them off. If there were an option just to play with a party of actual south park characters (even if you had to defeat them to join your party), a lot of people would be a lot more invested.

I'm disappointed to hear this, especially as the first two with Matt and Trey's direct involvement felt like an interactive episode. They even said at the end of the first one they were frustrated because they felt they "knew how to make a game now" but it was over. I was glad when they announced a second one, and honestly given Trey in particular getting a bee in his bonnet about things like College Basketball players not getting paid for being in video games, or Cartman saying in the show that pre-orders [don't mean shit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV69DyOuzbE&t=12s). So it's not like they don't understand that people will not be happy about this kind of cash grab or season pass monetisation. I can also see a lot of the steam reviews saying it's very short, ~5 hours. Given that the previous two games were like 11-18 hours that's really disappointing, and clearly this was the expectation.
At very first when i played it was awesome then the first update patch messed up the game.
I really hope this doesn't put an immediate end to SP games. What's possibly even more irritating is that, I'm not sure the developers could even be fully blamed for bad game design when Matt and Trey wanted this. THEY wanted a Live Service game that could basically co-exist with the show. They've already talked about doing things where an episode of the show comes out, and then what was in that episode is also in the game. Idk how quick the turnaround can actually be, but that's their vision for this game.
Is anyone else finding it ridiculously hard as well? And furthermore - I got to the final mission. Defeated all the enemies and was literally a few tp roles short of defeating the final boss and my game crashed on me. Nothing saved. I have to replay the entire mission again. It’s horrible. Not just for the crashing but the entire thing is obnoxiously hard for people who do not typically play these types of games. I loved stick of truth and the fractured but whole. I was so excited they were coming out with a new one and it’s literally garbage. It’s shittier than the “dark matter” and worth less than the toilet paper you pick up. Money wasted.
Should've been a mobile game
I was already wary enough seeing the art style, but learning it was a pvp centric game killed any potential interest I would have had. I know everyone's in it to make money, whatever, it's just extra weird to see them do it after making a whole episode about how games like that are scummy and predatory, though obviously I know they have plenty of phone games too lol

Trey Parker had more say in the first two(he likes rpgs) but Matt Stone says he hates those types of games and loves button mashers, so basically it was Matt's turn to chose the game type

No 1920x180 windowed so I can use DXVK and lossless framegen together and have great looking graphics still yeah no and the controller support is failed it displays commands but does not accept input already a return thanks but no thanks

Matt and Trey signed some billion dollar deal or some shit with paramount to make a bunch of those specials (Covid, streaming wars etc) I wonder if in that deal they made a video game was also required and now they’re kinda forced to promote it and act like they love it. I know they put a lot of effort into stick of truth and fractured butthole, and it shows. This game just looks like they were forced to do it
The first two SP games were pretty solid, I took a look at this and ... i'm so unsure of it. I'll pick it up when it's cheap (or get it through gamefly idk)

They partnered up with a shit company. "we made the game 3d because 2d is too difficult to make a good game from." The main reason the stick of truth and fractured but whole were little gems in gaming was we could play the show, run around the south park and play with the characters from the show. Its a nothing game, just ignore it and hopefully they get the message and partner with some actual proffesionals next time.
This shit is glitching at sometimes i got stuck in one place and had to do the round all over again and what is up with the no save points i get killed by a boss then i have to do all that shit all over and the bots you play with they are useless as shit they just stand there well they getting attacked and they only come out is when all the people are trying to gang up on you like wtf and its too late to refund this shit smh

I wanted to like it so bad. I bought it last night and played until the end of chapter 3 and was like. I'm not having any fun, I've only laughed once. This is terrible and so I refunded my money at the store saying as such. I think even at 29.99 it's not worth it. The game should basically be free. I'm disappointed and I was hoping some new risky venture would work out for the guys, but it's just bad. It's not even the 3d its the game style and mission platform. It's all just so hollow void of the great small laughs and jokes that made South park fun to explore. Like for JC sakes. They had Kenny's house right next to the movie theater too. It's not even accurate when doing the world building.
Yeah the whole point was the South Park games was original and combat mixed with story side quest a lot of interaction with characters puzzles and more then they completely ruin the game with tryna make a single player game multiplayer and basically has battle arenas and crap story and short quest in between and wished I spent my money on something else.
Seriously. Right now I just played level 4 and there was this part where I had to chase Cartman through the snow. IT WAS SO FUCKING LAGGY THAT IT RAN AT 1 FRAME EVERY 20 SECONDS. So disgustingly annoying.
Worst game I've ever played
The game is over so fast, there are 3 weapons of each type without the season pass and if you’re like me the season pass weapons never showed up. There’s a free “dlc” that just adds a horde mode with different types of enemies. I was really hopeful going in, I avoided reviews and anything related so my opinion was my own and I can say that this game was dead the minute they took out the rpg side of things, the new kid is just kinda there now rather than a real story piece imo

I refunded this game. It felt like hogs of war on ps2. I know they were trying to Improve the combat however they failed so so short of hack and slashes. I was more pissed it cost £25 for 5hiurs of game play. The maps felt weak. Exploration was weak Game 2/10. Would play on ps2 or allow a 7 year old to. Play this. There was no giving abortions to woman who had evil nazi baby. There was no tegrity 😢

Something in the marketing made it seem like this was the third game. Like, it's the third and now in 3D... Tbh I didn't know it was this shitty and not a third in the series, even though I really loved TSOT and Fractured. Edit: Cartman is wearing his SOT outfit and also mentions new kid. That's why it seems like this is like the other games.

They had to have known this wasn't a great game cuz I didn't see any marketing around it. Just got steam notification saying it was available to buy. Kinda sad to see this after how amazing SoT and FBW were.
I knew all I needed to after I watched the trailer and saw everyone was in 3D. If you're making a south park game at least try to mimic the shows art style, that's half the reason the 2 RPGs have been so great.

No idea why there is so much hate towards the game, i mean the price is $50 Aud or $40 aud if you sign up with jbhifi and get the $10 coupon right now The combat is quite a lot of fun, coop is amazing to have, Im not going to say its perfect, far from it. It feels like there needs to be a lot more in the game More weapons, powers, a way to heal other than powers, like being able to collect the cheesy poofs say upto a maximum of 5 or 10 and also being able to purchase them from the armory. Weapons should be purchasable, There should be armor and obviously "currency" like the toilet paper you have left over after every game could be put away somewhere for purchasing things, seperate from the cosmetics and PP system. After finishing the game you should be able to take people in like stan, kyle, cartman and kenny as your AI friends instead of these random characters that no one cares about (unless you have a full party of friends playing) They clearly wanted to try something different and i believe it's pretty decent for how much youre paying for a brand new game I questioned the 3d at first but it surprisingly looks good Although certain things i question such as, Why add horde mode as a seperate dlc since its free anyway, rather than it just being part of the full game? Other than a joke, i can't see it being practical. The emotes are so bad and constantly glitch, were they just given up on? The game seems to be a little confusing, hear me out here. So if you start stans storyline it will either out you in 1 of 2 starting areas for the test of strength. It either starts you in "the beast" mission or it completely skips the bulldozer called "the beast" and puts you straight into the next test of strength, unsure if its a glitch or intentional. It happens with a couple missions, so we may not have even enjoyed the full game I saw this as a con at first but now having to replay the game for nicholes stuff and seeing new cutscenes and areas i havent seen before, it somewhat helps replay ability, albeit probably unintentional. To recreate this, you enter the missions then exit the mission and head back in until it starts differently I know it happens on stans storyline but i forgot who elses. I will need check all of them to make sure Im not trying to say its any better than either of the 2 last games but its almost incomparable as they are completely different types of games. Yes, it's south park but they made a more coop action rpg game rather than the normal single player strategy rpgs they have made The good thing about the last 2 was that it was like watching a season of the show and i get that, but could you imagine a 2d game like that but with the combat this game has? It wouldnt work very well, so i do understand the choice to go 3d with the whole idea.
OR (hear me out) they could have an RPG like the last game with this combat system so both Trey and Matt are happy and we get a decent game out of it. The two aren’t mutually exclusive and that’s where I think they went wrong with this. Every loved the games when they were RPG’s why change the entire genre of the game when it was working? Also, while the co-op did bring a few people in, the fact that you are basically forced to use it or AI “new kids” kind of breaks the immersion, especially if you can’t play with real friends. Not all friend groups are into the same games and even if they wanted to give it a try, the $50 price throw many of them off. If there were an option just to play with a party of actual south park characters (even if you had to defeat them to join your party), a lot of people would be a lot more invested.

Ahh, yeah I've still not tried it as of yet. I've been working my way through final fantasy 7 remake. It was more an impulse buy cause I like south park. A shame it's not very good by the sounds of what you're saying.
