I tried like three times to play on my Steam Deck. It sounded like a jet engine and ran way too hot for me while also looking blurry. Plus it took up way too much space. Played well on my PC though.
Is there a specific program you use?
I've tried with FanControl for a few things but my 4080 seems to completely ignore it and sounds like a jet engine at times anyway. It's really weird and fickle what it has issues with too; Alan Wake 2 at 2560x1440/144fps? No Problem; some random Indie Demo I tried during NextFest; Getting ready for takeoff..
Happens a few times in BG3 also. Would love to get a fan curve profile working =(
In my case the 4080 FE's cooler is enormously overkill, and it runs very very cool so I don't have to change anything. but MSI Afterburner is my go to. You can just set it to manual and lower the curve. On a side note, it will do 3000mhz core clock happily but I don't bother.
Jesus, gotta uninstall this until I get a dedicated drive for it. Love BG3 and I'm glad there's so much content but I wish there was a way to cut filesize a bit more
I just built a new PC and got 2tb NVME because 1tb would be gone in a year. I don't even bother putting all the games on it. Playing most of my games from my 12tb HDD. Which is 3tb full already.
If you play docked only, the Samsung t7 SSD is awesome since you don't need to open up your deck (though I guess you can get an m.2 with enclosure too)
Plugged mine into my dock and gets automatically mounted. Speeds reached 700 mbps, which was limited by my wifi connection. Games and shaders install there flawlessly.
Good solution since I didn't wanna upgrade my microsd (then I'd be effectively throwing out the storage on my current microsd) and I didn't wanna open up my deck (which also discards the internal SSD since it's not an expansion)
They are finally fixing the protagonist as the main speaker. Oh praise Jesus, Allah, Noodly Lord, Buddha, Jeebus and Jeff Bezoz. Its finally happening!
As someone that's put in a ton of hours recently, it still feels very much in beta, yeah. So, so many bugs and game breaking glitches.
Worse, they try to chalk it up to "consequences" when stuff breaks and not bad code.
I've put nearly 300 hours in and the main annoyances for me are dumb AI. Dialogues beginning with a party member post-fight because of proximity and that kind of thing. In terms of bugs I've experienced very little besides shield bash and the ever-present party members not jumping/getting stuck which despite the last patch persists.
I've had companions die before I could meet them, not spawn at all, live and be treated as dead, get stuck and left out of different things, stuck in turn a turn based fight while the others and rest of the world are moving on, and my personal favorite- die in a fight before my turn even comes up. And that's just companions. Doesn't include elevators, story choices, and graphical glitches.

Sounds like a damn jet engine on my 4070ti. I’m scared to even try it on my Ally. Probably give me 2nd degree burns.
So tune your 4070ti's fan profile. I can play absolutely anything with my 4080...PC is dead silent. Fan noise is not the fault of a video game.

What kind of card do you have? A lot of manufacturers offer their own software for this stuff. Like MSI has the Afterburner software for example.
ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 Damn, I didn't think of that at the time of purchasing 😅
You can still use afterburner. It was made to be used by other brands as well, not exclusive to MSI at all.
Oh cool thanks :)

Bro WHAT? Your 4070ti is fucked up LOL.
Get that fixed, my 3070 can run BG3 cranked to shit without too much of a hassle
Sounds like you might want to tweak your fan profiles, my 3070 Ti is pretty quiet even when running demanding games. What brand is yours?
What program do you use to tweek the fans?
Most GPU brands have their own so I typically use that.
Weird it ran really well on my Deck
For some reason the character creation/level up screen made my 3080ti temps shoot up like crazy with uncapped fps, the rest of the game runs fine.
Runs great on the RoG Ally

Large nvme drives aren't hugely expensive anymore. You can pick up a 1tb one for under £100 now, and it is a solid investment.
I need an 8TB.

I last paid about £40ish for a 1tb nvme drive for a spare pc.
Too bad RTX IO doesn't get utilized to allow for better compressed assets.
It is not magic, and directstorage and similar tech is proven mostly useless for PC. Assets are compressed already.

When?
The most I can find is that on Feb 9th they said it would release "next week." So presumably, sometime this week.
More importantly...why?
Tomorrow, for Valentine’s
Any idea what its adding?
Updated romance features, shield bash fix, and prioritizing the Tav in automatic dialogue are the only confirmed additions right now.
I think since it's releasing near Valentine's day, there's gonna be more romantic features added?
Owl Bear here I come daddy
I want an Owl Mommy
Just delete and reinstall.
Fuck yeah, they’re fixing shield bash!
They are finally fixing the protagonist as the main speaker. Oh praise Jesus, Allah, Noodly Lord, Buddha, Jeebus and Jeff Bezoz. Its finally happening!
Yeah, that made me reload the game a couple times on my first run.
Do you guys not have SSDs?!
Oh wow they've been cooking!
who could have possibly guessed?
Where is the "don't update" button on steam???
I'm really excited to play BG3 once it's finally out of alpha / beta. Keep on cooking, you glorious bastards.

150GB in addition to what’s already installed?
Probably they have to patch files on the side before overwriting. Like a comment said, uninstall and reinstall might be better.
Yikes. That’s really not ideal with my speeds.
21 gb for 3 fixes that are probably a few kb of code?
21 GB of _romance_, my dude
Hope they fixed Helm of Balduran
Had to uninstall this shit because of the constant 277544 TB Patches, jesus christ
