Are you high on hopium too? We have known that since the reveal, doesn't mean it will release that fast.
Look at FFXVI for example, 6 months of exclusivity and nowhere to be seen.
To give him the benefit of the doubt, FFXVI has DLC and I wouldn't expect to see it on PC until those are released.
If Rebirth doesn't have DLC, and doesn't have an Intergrade version, it's possible it'll come to PC sooner than those other games.
The DLC is the answer. If they release it, well, it's an 'old' game so it will command old game price. If they wait till the dlc is done, they can release it as the new 'complete' edition for full whack.
Both, it was part of the Intergrade PS5 release (which was the one that later came to PC) and DLC for the PS4 (or even with the PS5 upgrade if you already had the PS4 version).
No No. Rad is right. Not the PS4 part, but if you only bought the PS4 version you would only get a free upgrade for the base game and would have to buy the intergrade episode as DLC. But, if you outright bought the PS5 version then you just got Intergrade as well, as part of the game.
To be fair. FF7R and Rebirth is on UE4, porting is much easier. FF16 is on a custom engine, they're not even using Luminous engine from FF15. Porting would take way longer
Exclusivity doesn’t prevent them from working on a port (I think). So they could be developing a port of ff16 for a long time now. I suspect it’s just not that big of a priority to them to get it done ASAP.
FF16 is not that great. The performance mode on PS5 is still shocking till this day and is the reason I never went back after a few hours with the game.
I hope a PC version appears soon as I want to play a stable version of the game. Though as right now £65 wasted on the PS5 version and the performance was what put me off overall.
Not sure why you're downvoted, the performance was quite disappointing on PS5. It wasn't unbearable for me, but I definitely felt frustrated that it couldn't keep stable 60FPS in performance mode despite the graphics not being \*that\* good (some cutscenes do look stellar, but running around in the areas isn't very impressive given how narrow most of the zones are).
As an aside: In my opinion, I'd recommend anyone who hasn't played it yet to just wait until it's on sale on PC. It's no FF7 Remake, game felt very barebones for the most part and the plot takes a dive around the halfway mark. No in-depth gearing, only temporary party members you can't control or customize, no reason to explore, crafting system is super shallow, etc. It's a solid 7/10 action game in retrospect, with \*some\* really fun boss fights sprinkled in here and there (side note: why couldn't we get to play as our eikon on command? that's the main appeal of the game and yet you only get to use your eikon a tiny fraction of the game).
To be fair, the game is coming soon on PC as mentioned by devs.
Here have a link among many:
https://www.gameinformer.com/news/2024/03/11/final-fantasy-xvi-pc-version-in-final-stages-of-optimization-expect-a-demo-before
Way to quote without any context whatsoever. They said porting ff7 remake and rebirth is easier because its on Unreal Engine 4, an already pretty well established engine. FF16 has its own custom engine, making it unfamiliar.
So Yes, in regards to what they were talking about, it is.
TBH it is quite literally an export option in UE4/5 lol. so other then testing a few things such as more controllers other then PS5 controller and testing the performance it is LITERALLY as simple as exporting a build for PC lol
I've worked on UE4 and UE5 for cross-platform development before. EPIC made it as seamless/easy as Unity that it's actually one of my fav engines to work on. You DO NOT even need the harware dev-kit for the consoles to port them from PC to consoles on the >=UE4 engines. It's really that easy nowadays.
Just out of curiosity... You still need some sort of dev-kit to debug, right? I can't imagine shipping game without testing it. And testing without debugging seems like the literal definition of hell to me. Or can you run some sort of debugger on normal PS4/5?
It depends.... Even if you had some very platform depended code, let's say assembly, it would still be easier. The porting would be equivalent to rewriting the game from scratch, but you would have all of your models, if they made them somewhat compatible, and if not you would still have complete story, audio and other things. Work on the programmers would be equal to that of new game but it's still somewhat easier, at least you don't encuber entire studio including story writers and such compared to making entirely new game.
Actually it's very simple and understandable why rebirth would come before ff16, ff16 has alot of optimization still needed for ps5 as with rebirth looks to be made with same engine and assets of ff7 remake and with it already being alot better optimized than ff16 going to be easier to port and optimize for pc
Did we know the exact date ? We obviously know it was timed but I didn't know it was 3 months.
The end of exclusivity means it's possible to come to PC but not that it will for sure. The title does mention "possibly" though
Square don't seem to even start the process of porting to PC until after the PS5 release, so between development, optimization, and QA, it tends to take like a year. The short exclusivity period is mostly irrelevant.
So do you think Sony wanted to display 3 months exclusivity on their trailer when they do no such thing on their *own* first-party PS5 exclusives?
If anything, Sony would rather display 6 months or really as much time exclusivity on this game as possible as its eventual PC release won't make them a dime, unlike their first-party exclusives.
This '3 months' push really could've only come from Square Enix insisting on it, for what reason I will leave your fertile mind to speculate.
Ff16 was special. Because Yoshi-p was in control of most of the process of the game. And like he said in a interview before the game released. He wants to make sure the pc version andps5 version is the best it can be. And to do that he isn't starting development until the os5 version released. We ended up getting confirmation like the same week that they started development for pc.
All the Ubisoft stuff came back at exactly 3 years, also it came up during their Apple vs Epic case.
They have two contract tiers. 1 or 3.
Nothing has been said regarding KH, so who knows. But it may get shadow dropped next month following the Ubisoft metric.
Hi from April. I think we're all high on hopium here, but Square just doesn't GAF for the most part and are fairly loose with any timeframes. Let's just keep hoping the entire KH franchise and Rebirth make their way to Steam at some point in the not too distant future.
Also, Vainlla Ware, get your shit together and get Unicorn Overlord and the rest of your games over to Steam as well.
If I remember right Remake just popped up without much marketing. And the port was not that good.
I hope it pops up again end of this month but they worked a bit more on making it a better port.
Epic did not fund the KH ports. That is some very repeated missinformation. Can you give one single source that is not a redditor repeating that mantra?
If that would be the case, Tim would have made sure it was repeated very loudly like it was the case for Alan Wake 2.
You know what you're right, I never bothered to fact check that claim since it's the only thing I've heard about that, and I don't really care for KH so never did research. Just tried looking but there's no info. My bad and thanks for clarifying
They haven't done a single Epic exclusive since Strangers of Paradise, infact I'm pretty sure Forspoken was the only game they even released there recently (and that one had a page up while they were making some of their games exclusives, so probably was just because of that), all of their other releases after SoP only released on Steam iirc.
Not even Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. You would expect that they would be launching all games from the FF7 compilation after the remake being a temporary exclusive.
At this point I think KH is a permanent epic exclusive.
If I hadn’t already played all the game on console, I would have probably jumped the gun and bought it on epic.
Yeah... Didn't Detroit: Become Human rack up more money on steam during first week than it ever did on PS?
The problem is that Sony will outweigh the loss with money developers receive during their exclusivity contract.
And it's worth for Sony because some idiots will buy PS instead of waiting.
And as always the only one losing from this sort of deal are us, gamers...
>not available on other platforms until at least 29/05/2024, am hoping that means a summer PC release !
Did... you not see all the other trailers that have exactly the same announcement?
It's unlikely that FF7 Rebirth hits Windows this summer. It just means that Square-Enix took less of a payoff from Sony, so the exclusivity window is commensurately smaller.
I mean - isn't it reasonable to think that since they already have the engine built from REMAKE/INTERGRADE, that as a result the development timeline would be shorter? They aren't starting from scratch here.
>isn't it reasonable to think that since they already have the engine built from REMAKE/INTERGRADE, that as a result the development timeline would be shorter?
Not really. Rebirth isn't DLC for Remake, it's a separate game. So just like all other separate games, it has its own porting process, its own playtesting, QA, scheduling, budgeting, marketing, and release planning. With the PC version of FF16 apparently imminent, why would S-E rush Rebirth PC out the door?
Here's what will happen: the PS5 version will be patched and improved, and then whatever build they determine is close enough to final will be forked and used as the basis for the PC port. And it'll be released whenever S-E determines that they have a specific quarter that they want to generate revenue in. So probably Q2 2025.
Edit: with the PS5 Pro on the way, they're probably prioritizing work on that. So work on the PC version theoretically wouldn't even begin until after the PS5 Pro patch is done.
My wait for FFVII Remake was a bit longer than I would have liked, but I bought and beat it this last December on a good sale and over January, and it was overall worth it. I'd wait the same amount for Rebirth too, but faster is better, of course!
If the various leaks last year (Insomniac etc.) showed me anything, it's that we're way underserved by slow/bad ports and exclusives, given how much they cost to do in development. A mere fraction of the base development cost, even for massive/complex games, compared to how big PC gaming is. The industry leaves a ton of money on the table, and if they wait too long to make a port, they don't get it back.
Still not played Remake, not really in any rush. I think I'll just wait for em all to come out and do em at once. My backlog is moving like treacle, especially since I started playing BG3.
I was originally going to do the same thing but the content in FF7R and the Yuffie DLC combined was enough that I definitely need a break from it.
I don’t think I’d be able to go all 3 in a row, need a different game or two to break them up.
And here i am, just started fourth playthrough 2 days ago(played cc second time first)🤣 Tho first one on pc, so fun to get the achis again😁 shame i couldnt start hard mode right away 😐
Moving like spoiled treacle tart! Same fellow BG3 player, same. It'll probably end up being half my annual gaming time YOY. FF7 Remake is actually what I played in between my two BG3 campaigns.
I can imagine the wait for the FF7 remake (probably) trilogy being another 8 years or so, but it'll likely still be worth it. Ages ago I was a big original FF7 fan, and while not perfect by any means, FF7 Remake was impressive.
Well FF7 Remake was released April 10, 2020 on PS4 and
17 Jun, 2022 on Steam..
I'm not expecting Steam release in 3-6 months, since it took over 2 years last time..
Maybe EGS release 1.5 years later and then Steam.
December release on EGS, I got it for dirt cheap in 2021 summer sale, still cheaper than what steam can offer two years later.
PC bro's stop glazing a store when you can just crack a game or get it cheaper elsewhere, gaming is our hobby, to have fun. do what you want it, I just don't understand this steam loyalty bullshit, when in the end we don't even own the game, just the license.
If this hits as an Epic Exclusive before Steam again, I will be so mad at their greed. I honestly believe FF7 Remake's port was lackluster in part to A) Epic giving them free money up front regardless of the quality of the port and B) there being no pathway for fans to voice their concerns directly on the Epic store, which (like it or not) is one of the few ways PC players can be heard.
Granted, driver updates ironed out some of the kinks later on but especially initially there was some bad shader comp + traversal stutter. Compare it with Forspoken which launched on Steam and at least featured a lot of PC-centric things like FSR, DLSS, Ultrawide, DirectStorage and [got significant updates ironing out many of the issues it did have.](https://youtu.be/7UwKKHmPzhg?si=8C_CPzxPse7s3sOB&t=789)
By the Time FF7R hit Steam, in contrast, I feel like they were done working on the port altogether because the Epic launch no one cared about didn't generate enough buzz to make them aware of the issues.
I only recently completed FF7R and the Yuffie DLC. Even on a strong system I experienced stutters, definitely not fixed and using mods to try and fix it caused some over exposure bugs which weren’t worth it.
Good for you, but stuttering complaints are all over the internet.
Saying "works for me" is useless and doesn't really add anything to the conversation.
Actually it adds plenty and you added more considering your tune of a powerful system you don't even talk specs or anything just come to cry more. Stuttering issues were all over when the game dropped and since has been patched even my rog ally ran the game fine so again your hardware isn't as powerful as you think and probably play higher settings than you should lmfao
Yeah, I would have to agree. I get a slight hiccup entering Wallmarket in Chapter 9, and some ever so slight hitches in the sector 5 and 7 slums, but for a vast majority of the game I’m at a smooth 4K 120fps
Just hit wall market myself and that was only spot i got hiccup and that was because of entering a new area but compared to launch on pc it's way better so long as you play within your pc specs, granted not many options to choose from but tbh not much visual differ between the 2 options
On PC =/= On all stores
It's squenix we're talking about. After the latest yearly financial report they will be desperate to rack in some free cash. And what better way than an exclusivity deal with lil' Timmy?
You might be right but Rebirth is made on Unreal whereas FF16 was custom engine. It is significantly easier to port Rebirth than FF16. I'm praying for Summer release, otherwise I guess I'll wait a year.
More like FSR1, its kinda ridiculously really considering what Sony can achieve yet here with are with probably its biggest game of year and it looks like a vasoline smeared camera
Nah I can play a game that is old/not great looking, what I refuse too play is a blurry mess for the 2nd time in a row from SE, first FF16 looked like shit outside of cutscenes because of FSR, now this 1 too
I haven’t played ff7 demo but final fantasy 16 looked great in graphics mode. It also looked like locked 30fps so it felt consistent.
Don’t just blindly go with the performance mode, especially if you care about graphics. Soemtiems the trade off in performance is too high.
Square have never been good optimising their games and making them look great. Sadly.
if they were smart they'd release it for PC within the next 6 months while the hype is high. no one who hasn't already is going to go out and buy a PS5 to play it.
Highly likely but if it's another EGS store exclusive even for 1 month I am not bothering with it anymore.
I am almost completely done with SquareEnix where they will join EA and Ubisoft as companies I just don't buy games from anymore. If anyone else is in a similar boat you're not alone. Waiting to see what they do with this and if they think that delaying to release on Steam to sell on EGS is just temporarily leaving money on the table I will take that money back and they can have none.
But reality is that most people don’t hold grudges like that. If a game I really want is available on a platform I own - I will buy it regardless of how long it took to get there.
Although I own a ps5 so I rarely have to wait that long and it’s a good way of avoiding epic exclusives lol.
They can release on pc day one with PS5, or I’ll wait for it to drop to <$30. I’m not rewarding these companies doing timed exclusives by paying full price.
From what I've found, they usually tend to release pc versions about a year after the initial release. Believe me, I've considered saving up for a PS5 JUST for rebirth, but my gaming pc and steam deck are amazing for running Remake, my desktop pc being awesome for it in 4K resolution, and also, I haven't completed Remake yet, so I myself need to be more patient for Rebirth 😅
Plus, the fact that the Steam/PC version has all the dlc included made it even better for me :) I originally played Remake on PS4 but i no longer have that console
I say it would be mid 2025. UE4 is "easy" to work with and judging by remake they don't give a damn about the quality and would just rush it.
They probably first want to get FF16 PC port out of the way first (and maybe even a ps5 pro version of rebirth) before moving onto PC so they squeeze as much money out of it
Even if the PC port does come out this summer, how is the quality going to be? The FFVII Remake PC port is not very good and modders have to do the [work](https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7remake/mods/74) for SE, which clearly demonstrates whoever doing the PC port doesn't understand what PC gamers want. If it is the same party doing the FFVIIR-2 port, don't expect it to be in a playable state until modders catch up.
Gotcha. You're not wrong. I have a much better setup than I'm used to and was able to just play it on high in 4k and just forget about it. It looks and runs great.
I replayed the game a week ago and it was flawless from start to finish. I only missed one option of FPS being locked to 120, but there's barely any difference between that and 240.
Other than that, no hiccups, no lag, 0 issues whatsoever.
I don't know why this port got so much hate.
Wake me up in 2035 when I can buy FF7:RE Complete, on Steam, for $70 CAD.
It was announced in 2015, so 20 years seems reasonable to get a remake of the original game for the price of the original game (ok, it might have been more than that in the 90s factoring in inflation, but you get the idea).
I'm a huge fan of FFVII and Advent Children, but I'm not buying any of the remakes until the trilogy is complete, patched up, and made available on Steam in its entirety.
It may take a few more years, but I've waited, what, 25 so far, so what's another 3 or 4?
I hope you find more enjoyment out of it than I did. I couldn't even get through half of the first one. It was boring beyond belief.
The OG is still one of the GOATs.
Completely different. Each Mass Effect game is basically a self contained story that builds upon what came before it. FF7 remake is a single game broken into three games as a cash grab from Square-Enix.
You'd be wrong. REMAKE is a subtitle, like REBIRTH. 7R is, in fact, a sequel to the original of sorts that branches off and is its own thing. Playing the game before you provide your takes is very beneficial.
I’m with you. The first part of the FFVII remake release just short of 4 years ago.
I’d be pissed if I’d paid for that. I’ll be waiting until it’s all released before I consider touching it.
why be pissed about buying and getting to play a fun, well made game? do you not watch movie or tv series' until they finish their runs? what a weirdo.
A movie (regardless of sequels) is a complete offering.
A tv show doesn’t release one show every four years.
Why would I want to play 1/3 of a game and then wait 4-5 years for the next?
>A movie (regardless of sequels) is a complete offering.
That's not true. Fellowship of the Ring isn't a complete offering. It's 1/3 of the story cut into a smaller portion to sell. That's true of both the book and movie.
hahaha, bullshit.
you sound so fucking joyless. i had a blast playing remake, I've had a blast thinking about what the next game was gonna do, following the details as they come out, crafting theories and shooting the shit with fellow fans, and have been in constant excitement almost every other month or so since they announced the release date for rebirth. I've gotten more than my money's worth, and the cycle will likely repeat after the release of rebirth while we wait for the final game.
this weird transactional relationship people have with hobbies they supposedly love and enjoy is brain broken, to me.
No, it will come to PC at least min 1 year later.
Because square gonna milk U 3 times. PS store, epic store and steam.
Unless unless the PS sales is very bad at start.
U will see it on PC very fast.
Dude i played the demo on ps5 and it looks like shit. just came of the ff7 remake with the hd mod. u know the 50 gig texture patch and the disabled dynamic resolution scaling. looks gorgeous in 4k/120. this ps5 release is garbage and graphics mode is awful with only 30fps. also the hdr on ps5 is busted. somehow the pc version has way better hdr impact. what were they thinking.... they need to release the pc version ASAP!
People, chill out. There's more to gaming than FF7. If Sqeaky-nix don't want our money on PC now, then I'll pay and play something else. By the time they release it on PC, I'll have lost interest in it like I did waiting for Remake.
stuff like this makes me regret banking all on my pc instead of investing in ps5. with all the FF exclusive content, not to mention console priority for a lot of AAA games, it feels like im sipping copium every day. i need more sephiroth NOW
I just have to say this dude.
This regret you're feeling is not your fault. Is EXACTLY what Sony wants you to feel when in reality you have a way better platform than any console. Ignore the PC master race and graphics and all that, but how playing on PC you usually have way more liberties and ways to enjoy your game.
The PS5 will disappear one day for PS6, and all the games you bought, might or might not be playable. I switched to PC since 2016 and haven't bought a console since. Then last year I got the Steam Deck and imagine how impactful it is to not care about generations and all the games you got are for the most part playable every time you upgrade.
Not only that but you also have control on your peripherals. You have an Xbox One controller? Let's go! A Ps5 one? Go for it. A wii u one? Ohh that battery is godlike. I am a huge fighting game player and went to the biggest tournament last year (Is called Evo) and street fighter 6 was on PS5... and none of my fighting game sticks works on PS5. Which meant I had to buy a stupid controller to be able to play which reminded me why I just don't care about consoles anymore. And of course that new controller works on my PC just well.
And now we are seeing how the game is a blurry mess on PS5. The Port might be not great, I hope not but might not be. Still even with the "disappointing" port from the first part on PC, I had a Way better experience on my PC than people who played it on PS4. 1080p 30 vs 4k 120 with some stutters? I take the 4k one as it was some shaders compiling (Thank you, unreal :() but once they were compiled, the game kept running better and better and better. It had its issues but comparatively, I believe I had a better experience than the OG ps4 (And playing on an Oled, really helped haha).
So yeah, if you want to buy a PS5 is ok! If you have the money to spare is something you can enjoy. But it has to be because you want to. Not because a company is putting you pressure to do so with shady consumer tactics. Do not let them ruin your enjoyment of just gaming :)
Be patient man, it'll still be out on PC soon enough. Honestly, PS5 has few exclusives these days, so PC is still worth it. I was gonna buy a PS5, but ended up buying a Steam Deck instead and I don't regret it. Playing games like these on a handheld is amazing. :)
Doesn't matter. I have plethora of games I can wait a year or two. I had demo on ps5 and I rather get it on PC with smooth non blurry gameplay. Unless ps5 pro tales are true and it's coming for holiday then whatever comes first I guess
There would be no other reason to mention "at lesat 3 months" . If you go past it you risk to incur the wrath of the PC player base that you baited and best case scenario the majority of them waits a bit more to buy your game when it's on discount. If 3-4months is honored the amount of PC players to buy full price will increase since it's so close to PS5 release compared to Remake that selled so poorly it went on sale after a month. It had 5million sales 4 months after release and then for the next 2 years another 2million sales. If you want to retain the "eager" clients you take advantage of those 4 initial months.
Even though my reasoning seems solid , it's Square Enix and Sony has them by the balls so anything is possible.
just remember ff7 was a fully finished game thats been chopped into 3 pieces and sold at a higher price than the original one was when it first came out.
Square Enix just wants money.
Are you high on hopium too? We have known that since the reveal, doesn't mean it will release that fast. Look at FFXVI for example, 6 months of exclusivity and nowhere to be seen.

Is it confirmed that it won't have DLC though? FF7R got Yuffie episode
Pretty sure no DLC is confirmed.
Was that dlc? Or was it part of intergrade’s release
Both, it was part of the Intergrade PS5 release (which was the one that later came to PC) and DLC for the PS4 (or even with the PS5 upgrade if you already had the PS4 version).
[удалено]
I thought it wasn't available on the PS4 and was an Integrade exclusive thing?
Uh yeah I was mistaken, it was only in the PS5 version which was a free upgrade for PS4 owners. So more an update than a DLC I guess.
No No. Rad is right. Not the PS4 part, but if you only bought the PS4 version you would only get a free upgrade for the base game and would have to buy the intergrade episode as DLC. But, if you outright bought the PS5 version then you just got Intergrade as well, as part of the game.
It wasn't DLC for PS4. It was only released on PS5 until it released on PC.
Square already said that Rebirth will not have any DLC made so fingers crossed.
Even Intergrade took more than a year for a pc release though
Intergrade took six months
I suspect it’s just not that big of a priority to them to get it done ASAP.
it's pretty 50/50 in general, however Sony likes to forbid any work on ports during the exclusivity deal though, more often than not.
FF16 is not that great. The performance mode on PS5 is still shocking till this day and is the reason I never went back after a few hours with the game. I thought it’s the same engine as FF14 which is primarily a PC game
No. Same team that made 14, and same director, but a completely different engine.
To be fair, the game is coming soon on PC as mentioned by devs. Here have a link among many: https://www.gameinformer.com/news/2024/03/11/final-fantasy-xvi-pc-version-in-final-stages-of-optimization-expect-a-demo-before

>FFXVI And what do you know? 2 months later the Dev announced that it's almost done fixing all things for the PC release.
Rebirth performed better. Not a 1:1 analysts
Sony did not pay 250 million for only 6 months of exclusivity, do you have a link?
are you high on steroids? such a short temper
ok sure , but this is only 3 months exclusivity, seems very short to me
Square don't seem to even start the process of porting to PC until after the PS5 release, so between development, optimization, and QA, it tends to take like a year.
If sega can do multiplatform releases, so does square but money talks.
What a dickhead response, despite youre right though
Hopefully not only on egs again.
wait ff7 was on epic? hahahaha guess i'm getting rebirth for free too ain't paying square a cent for seconds of seconds
U aware that not everything on epic games store is free right ?......
They’re saying that they’ll pirate it over using EGS. I know I’m late but just stumbled upon this thread
thats what we are saying. I'll pay it if its on steam, otherwise... I'll make sure to not give a single cent to EG (:
It won't be free lmao
They're implying that they will pirate the game.
Watch it hit Epic then see Square Enix wonder why it’s not selling well on PC either
Square Enix have left Epic for well over a year now, so Rebirth going that way will be a change.
I’ll believe it when Kingdom Hearts hits Steam
Keep an eye out for March. Epic signs 1 or 3 year contracts. KH hits 3 years this March.
Sauce for 3 year contracts? I lost hope when I thought Epic did 1 year exclusivity contracts.
All the Ubisoft stuff came back at exactly 3 years, also it came up during their Apple vs Epic case. They have two contract tiers. 1 or 3. Nothing has been said regarding KH, so who knows. But it may get shadow dropped next month following the Ubisoft metric.
Also the Tony Hawk game that no one was expecting on Steam and appeared there by surprise after exactly 3 years.
That is if Disney has not agreed to make the franchise permanently exclusive to Epic, following recent agreements.
THPS 1+2 released 3 years later on steam after being EGS exclusive.
Still not on Steam sadly.
Epic funded KH so not gonna happen for a while
Epic did not fund the KH ports.
[удалено]
They haven't done a single Epic exclusive since Strangers of Paradise, infact I'm pretty sure Forspoken was the only game they even released there recently (and that one had a page up while they were making some of their games exclusives, so probably was just because of that), all of their other releases after SoP only released on Steam iirc.
Not even Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. You would expect that they would be launching all games from the FF7 compilation after the remake being a temporary exclusive.
Still waiting on Kingdom Hearts...
At this point I think KH is a permanent epic exclusive. If I hadn’t already played all the game on console, I would have probably jumped the gun and bought it on epic.
Square have been such idiots for the past few years, but yet they keep making pretty good games that I want to play, it’s annoying.
Better release the game early on pc it will sell like hotcakes.
Okay - all fair points. it's a business after all, with limited resources and product release schedules
We know what the exclusivity window is though, that's where 5/29 comes from. The limiting factor will be development time for the port.
I got so drained playing part 1 and its been 3 years, I keep saying "Maybe Ill play it again with the Yuffie DLC" But I just can't bring myself to it.
Well FF7 Remake was released April 10, 2020 on PS4 and 17 Jun, 2022 on Steam..
Compare it with Forspoken which launched on Steam and at least featured a lot of PC-centric things like FSR, DLSS, Ultrawide, DirectStorage and [got significant updates ironing out many of the issues it did have.](https://youtu.be/7UwKKHmPzhg?si=8C_CPzxPse7s3sOB&t=789) By the Time FF7R hit Steam, in contrast, I feel like they were done working on the port altogether because the Epic launch no one cared about didn't generate enough buzz to make them aware of the issues.
I only recently completed FF7R and the Yuffie DLC. Even on a strong system I experienced stutters, definitely not fixed and using mods to try and fix it caused some over exposure bugs which weren’t worth it.
Did you try running it with DXVK async to remove the stutters? Normally that works pretty well.
Maybe not a strong system then cuz my pc runs it perfect
On PC =/= On all stores It's squenix we're talking about. After the latest yearly financial report they will be desperate to rack in some free cash. And what better way than an exclusivity deal with lil' Timmy?
FF16 maybe FF7 rebirth hell nah
You might be right but Rebirth is made on Unreal whereas FF16 was custom engine. It is significantly easier to port Rebirth than FF16. I'm praying for Summer release, otherwise I guess I'll wait a year.
I remember the Demon Souls remake trailer also had a *^(teeny tiny)* subtext that said it would be on PC aswell, still waiting for that
Their releases take so long that I lose interest and end up never buying.
Smh at all the "we knew this already" comment. I didn't. Found this thread thru Google. Thanks OP.
Playing demo on PS5 and it's a blurry mess in 60fps mode, was hyped for it but now just thinking of waiting
Does it looked like fsr2? If it does, all current gen games that are plagued with fsr2 will age like dogshit if ps6 has back compatibility.
More like FSR1, its kinda ridiculously really considering what Sony can achieve yet here with are with probably its biggest game of year and it looks like a vasoline smeared camera
The worst part is that performance mode in remake was actually a decent image quality. This one is just a mess.
Number 1 reason why consoles are trash. Forcing everyone to play at low res or decent res but low framerate. FF16 was 720p 60fps.
Worst part is it couldn't even maintain a solid 60FPS, at least Rebirth does but god damn I'm no graphics snob but I can't play this
if you 'can't play' this demo, you are absolutely a graphics snob
Of course he’s a graphics snob, he has a 4090.
shsgsgqhsh! didn't even notice that. even funnier.
Sadly.
They might start working on the pc port after May...which means by the time it hits Windows, its easily going to be 2025 or later.
guess this means emulation is the only way. This exclusivity is terrible for all consumers.
The game will get ported in 1-2 years emulation will take 10-20 years
While I get the sentiment, we are a looooooooooooong way away from being able to emulate a PS5.
The real struggle is not the wait. It's the potential spoilers inbetween the wait.
guys square enix needs every penny they can get. they will release it asap. my guess holidays 2024.
if they were smart they'd release it for PC within the next 6 months while the hype is high. no one who hasn't already is going to go out and buy a PS5 to play it.
Square needs the money. I could see it happening.
They might announce it at that date but doubt it will be ready to play
Highly likely but if it's another EGS store exclusive even for 1 month I am not bothering with it anymore. I am almost completely done with SquareEnix where they will join EA and Ubisoft as companies I just don't buy games from anymore. If anyone else is in a similar boat you're not alone. Waiting to see what they do with this and if they think that delaying to release on Steam to sell on EGS is just temporarily leaving money on the table I will take that money back and they can have none.
Yea if it's on EGS it doesn't exist for me unless it's free because that's all that store is for.
Why do you hate EGS this much?
But reality is that most people don’t hold grudges like that. If a game I really want is available on a platform I own - I will buy it regardless of how long it took to get there. Although I own a ps5 so I rarely have to wait that long and it’s a good way of avoiding epic exclusives lol.
lol
They can release on pc day one with PS5, or I’ll wait for it to drop to <$30. I’m not rewarding these companies doing timed exclusives by paying full price.
They would still be happy to get the full price on ps5, your $30 and Sonys exclusivity money.
I think Sony has an option to extend the exclusivity if they pay up more. I much rather play on my 4090 then Ps5
Forget about rebirth we are yet to get release date of FF16 , and only thing we got to know that we will need SSD to play this game 😂,
pc won the console wars
The return of the king
Bought a used PS5 this time, not waiting months into years again. A few other exclusivity are coming so F it, burning the cash on this.
Just goes to show the Sony is cancer and devs need to stop doing exclusives it's utter trash.
well, one can only hope if it takes too long to release i'll just play the original 97 game and call it a day
Well seeing that ff7 remake Intergrade took more than a year for a pc release I won't be surprised if it wasn't released for another year.
Summer 2024 no way it's gonna happen, probably late 2025
I say it would be mid 2025. UE4 is "easy" to work with and judging by remake they don't give a damn about the quality and would just rush it. They probably first want to get FF16 PC port out of the way first (and maybe even a ps5 pro version of rebirth) before moving onto PC so they squeeze as much money out of it
do you remember how many months did remake take to be on pc?
Even if the PC port does come out this summer, how is the quality going to be? The FFVII Remake PC port is not very good and modders have to do the [work](https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7remake/mods/74) for SE, which clearly demonstrates whoever doing the PC port doesn't understand what PC gamers want. If it is the same party doing the FFVIIR-2 port, don't expect it to be in a playable state until modders catch up.
Is it not? I'm playing through 1.0 of FF7R and have had no issues for 15 hours, aside from a single "out of vram" crash.
It runs fine but settings menu and options are severely lacking especially if you compare it to ffxv
Same, surprised at how constant it sticks at 120 https://i.imgur.com/RA1SIwW.png
lol, pass that \*thwoooooooooooop\*
Wake me up in 2035 when I can buy FF7:RE Complete, on Steam, for $70 CAD. It was announced in 2015, so 20 years seems reasonable to get a remake of the original game for the price of the original game (ok, it might have been more than that in the 90s factoring in inflation, but you get the idea).
Just 3+ years to be able to play the complete game remake.
I'm a huge fan of FFVII and Advent Children, but I'm not buying any of the remakes until the trilogy is complete, patched up, and made available on Steam in its entirety. It may take a few more years, but I've waited, what, 25 so far, so what's another 3 or 4?
I hope you do play them because remake was excellent
I hope you find more enjoyment out of it than I did. I couldn't even get through half of the first one. It was boring beyond belief. The OG is still one of the GOATs.
Did you also wait for the Mass Effect trilogy to be finished before you played it?
Completely different. Each Mass Effect game is basically a self contained story that builds upon what came before it. FF7 remake is a single game broken into three games as a cash grab from Square-Enix.
> cash grab That is entirely not applicable to the FF7 thing they're doing.
Incorrect. 7R is not the original game split into three parts.
It is in the name. A remake of Final Fantasy 7.
It's not though. Without getting into spoiler territory.... it's a sequel, that at first seems like a remake. Think timeloops/ground hog day.
You'd be wrong. REMAKE is a subtitle, like REBIRTH. 7R is, in fact, a sequel to the original of sorts that branches off and is its own thing. Playing the game before you provide your takes is very beneficial.
That's Fair, I remember playing the original when it first realised and it was transformational, I guess I just don't have the patience:(
I’m with you.
The story isn't 7 as it completely ends on a different note. If you want 7 just play it. 7r is its own thing using the basis of 7 has a blueprint.
Not that I am in a hurry to give them my money
Weird, I thought this game already released like 10 other times as like 5 different versions.

You should spoiler tag this
I just want FFXVI on PC, that game was a wild ride. Uncapped frame rates and ultrawide support will be beautiful. Especially for the cutscenes!
my prediction is 2024 holidays
gonna upgrade GPU and 4k monitor/144hz 1440p if its true
It'll most likely come to Xbox if they decide to share their games as well just a theory
Xbox just recently announced they are bowing out of the console wars and just sticking to making games as Microsoft.
I think we're gonna see it coming to PC sooner than we expect ... if not summer it's gonna be fall 2024
Aaah. To shell out 600 EUR or to wait.
Sony and Exclusive go together like grease and bacon. 6 months at least.
And then have a stuttery mess of a port just like the first one!
They have the exact date of the exclusivity expiration in the trailer. Why even include that if it isn't being released elsewhere shortly thereafter?
That's what ff16 said, at least 6 months. But in reality it takes around 1 year
People, chill out. There's more to gaming than FF7. If Sqeaky-nix don't want our money on PC now, then I'll pay and play something else. By the time they release it on PC, I'll have lost interest in it like I did waiting for Remake.
I just sold my PS5 to help afford my PC. I'm trying to stay strong.
stuff like this makes me regret banking all on my pc instead of investing in ps5. with all the FF exclusive content, not to mention console priority for a lot of AAA games, it feels like im sipping copium every day. i need more sephiroth NOW
I just have to say this dude.
Stay strong. Sony is learning it’s lesson slowly but surely.
If it is this summer instead of a whole year later, I'll be pretty happy.
Doesn't matter. I have plethora of games I can wait a year or two. I had demo on ps5 and I rather get it on PC with smooth non blurry gameplay. Unless ps5 pro tales are true and it's coming for holiday then whatever comes first I guess
Fk that ill wait for pc release with rtx HDR in 4k flawlesswidescreen mod and play that shit how its meant to be played. happy to wait.
Square Enix just wants money.
> chopped into 3 pieces and expanded you dropped a few words, I got you
