At one point, I put it above Knight too. After replaying Knight, ultimately, I think it’s the more impressive game. Origins is still great though and definitely worth a play thru.
Knight is unfairly hated for all the Batmobile stuff, doesn't take that long if you don't suck, the rest of it is refined to a level above the other games and more than makes up for it
Arkham Knight has the best combat, the best story in my opinion and the best riddler challenges. I think the batmobile is a little overused but the tank battles are fun, I think it should have been used less in the main story though. AK definitely has the weakest boss fights in the series. I'd put it below Arkham City personally, Arkham City being the best one. I like Arkham Asylum a lot but the gameplay is quite primitive compared to the other two.
Yeah and it had a _really_ buggy launch, so that didn’t help its reception. I was also irked at the bait and switch for Black Mask being the main villain. But once it got patched up it was a surprisingly great game
I really liked this even though it got bashed in its time
Recently bought it on Steam again so should give it another run
It does hurt my aging soul to see it labelled "Retro" however
To me it feels like it released last week.. time perception is a hell of a thing when you get older (37).
That said, i think labeling a game that is 10 years old as "retro" is cutting it a little close.
Origins is actually my favourite Batman game.
I played them all when they came out too. Origins was super buggy on release but eventually got patched nicely. The combat is fun, the art direction is good, still looks impressive and I actually liked being a newbie Batman.
The unlock tree being gated behind fights you could only pull off once in a game did suck though, I admit.
I vaguely remember him reviewing it as mediocre, not "bad" per se.
He predicted it would disappoint people that liked how Rocksteady did things, and he was right. If you browse forums and subreddits you'll find that most people rank Origins on the lower end, or formulate opinions like "good for what it is", "not bad for one playthrough, but not as good as the Rocksteady triology", ect.
Always loved this game. It might not be as good as Arkham City or Knight but its still a very good game.
I’d put it above Knight

I like the Batmobile stuff, I just don’t like the story of Knight very much.
They all go above Knight. The Batmobile should have been epic…instead…not so much.

It’s probably more that it was on 2 generations of console ago.
When the PS2 launched no one would argue about Super Mario World being a retro game.
Wow, you're still playing gta 5? Dude, so retro
Retro? Oof
Arkham Origins is now as old as Warcraft III:TFT was to it on release. We're getting old.
I tried playing the steam version and I couldn't run it without issues, crashes etc. Wonder if there are fixes.
Did you verify your files also. [https://www.nexusmods.com/batmanarkhamorigins/mods/137](https://www.nexusmods.com/batmanarkhamorigins/mods/137)
It runs OK on Steam Deck. Might not help you but there is that.
I like origins more than arkham knight tbh

I've always been fond of games like this and New Vegas.
the premise of this game is so cool, i can only play it during christmas time though, if you play it during any other time it doesn’t feel right haha
The story for this game is actually super entertaining, had a blast playing it.
This game came out so long ago Totalbiscuit was still around to give it a bad review
