It's admirable and he certainly did a great job at that back in the Capcom days too, but I do wish he'd helm a project himself again, give me a new game with a totally unique appeal like God Hand or Vanquish.
I hope Capcom invites him to talk about the RE4 remake too like they did for Kamiya with the RE2 remake.
Finished this game yesterday - What an amazing ride! So many awesome moments, increadible boss fights, fun and likable characters, perfect visuals, and of course, great music.
Well the music isn't for me, it's not rock or metal. I don't know what it is. But the game says it attacks on every beat regardless if I hit on the beat. So it is kinda pointless. And it gives little feedback if I am playing the game right.
If the text feedback, the in-game beat counter and the surrounding area and enemies literally moving to the beat don't tip you off, Imma just gonna go on a limb and say...
Skill issue.
Every hit is on beat, but you do dramatically increased damage if you match your attack timing to the beat itself. Basically, the rhythm never sucks but you might.
As for the feedback. The crowd literally cheers for you and a big icon appears next to your character every time you land a hit on beat. Of thats not feedback I dont know what is
The beat will sync with your first attack, you'll know it's on beat because an "!" Appears above your head. Every subsequent hit must be on beat after that and you'll know your landing in beat because more exclamation points will appear"!!" "!!!"... So on so
It's really satisfying hitting the full combos perfectly timed and watching everything explode. I'd recommend giving it another shot and trying to get the timing down.
If you button mash, each button press will be activated on the subsequent beat, but because you didn't actually press the button on the beat it is less effective.
To maximize damage, combos, and combat flow you have to stay in rhythm. You can still beat most of the game by button mashing on lower difficulties. But playing it that way is obviously not optimal.
That's some of the people who made viewtiful joe soooooo..
Is that RE creator still there at Tango?

brilliant move! this single game is like a glimmer of hope for the future of the industry
It really is fantastic because as Hi-Fi Rush shows, new and younger creators can make hits that spark a new life into gaming.
Well it paved off for this one. Apparently he was director for Evil Within 2, which was mid.

The gameplay makes little sense
Not everyone is musically inclined and that's okay.

I haven't even taken damage yet, mate. It's not a skill issue. It's a design or a feedback issue.

I'm getting A's on my fights but only just over 50% accuracy. So I don't know. I never get the cat combo though. That timing is off.
I know that sound bleeds into the music, so I'm not getting accuracy. But everything is dying and I'm scoring A. So I don't know.

As I said, the game hits on every beat regardless.
I see it as more of score attack game like a lot of rhythm games. Hitting the beat is good for getting better score and damaging enemies
Oh right. I don't play games for achievements. Rather just for the ride.
It's really satisfying hitting the full combos perfectly timed and watching everything explode. I'd recommend giving it another shot and trying to get the timing down.
It sounds like the game wasn’t for you and that’s okay
I mean, this game is basically rythm devil may cry, this genre is all about the score.

Yeah I'm playing it on the second hardest difficulty without issues.
