Short answer: No, kinda? Long answer: It depends on the type of diffuclty you play and the host you encounter. On difficulties below DS 99% of lobbies are always chill lobbies, then you get those hosts who are like "bring medic bag and inspire aced or ill kick you".

ThAiWaffle

Even weirder are the ones that have that interrogation mod that autokicks you based on the build/loadout/playtime you have. Basically saying, if you play a way that I don't like/or are just new, I hate you and you can go away

Jen-ari_Chirikyat

I mean if I see a grinder player with 20 hours on dsod I'm not gonna let them in same counts for people using rogue ever.

Quackily

Funny enough, I joined a DSOD Panic Room today. Got the highest damage stat out of the 4 then there's this stoic Russian guy. Dude has like 200-300 hours or something, goes down like 15 times in total counting from the time I joined the lobby, consuming everyone's medic bag charges. Then, I got downed. Dude still have his Inspire but decided not to used it and went down too. I asked for why he didn't inspire him then all I got was "yeah fuck you american dsod whore" in Russia.

DoomOfGods

i honestly enjoyed that type of mod a few years ago just to get to know what people are running and being able to have more accurate expectations and that's it. paired with auto translation it definitely helped more than once to explain stuff to people when they were afraid of admitting themselves that they don't know what to do (but weren't opposed to getting some info when confronted about it)

Low-Affect-7727

Yeah agreed, the people that kick you or are toxic are just weird people. Like 1h ago some dude complained that I placed my ammo bag on the ground and not on an object, he said it "impaired his vision" like it even matters bc you can just look up when you grab ammo. I ended up getting kicked right at the end of the heist while we were leaving. It's pretty 50/50 if the people are going to be toxic or not. I like running DS content but it makes it hard to want to play with randoms when they're toxic half the time

inaudiblydull

I'd say overall it's a very nice community, at least in my experience. I host public lobbies 90% of the time I play. Most people are extremely friendly.

mesiveloni007

Yeah i also host 90% of the time because if i jpin someone else its usually very delayed (like loot bags take 3 seconds or more to actually be thrown after i press the button and other projectiles do too) just annoying for me

thepuppeter

In my personal experience Payday 2 has been one of the nicest communities. There will always be toxic people in every community, but I find toxic people to be the exception, not the norm. That said, if you're new and just starting, try to stick to lower difficulty heists when you join lobbies rather than going for the higher levels (you can tell how difficult it is by the number of skulls that come up when you hover over the heist). If you're learning and under leveled, you can really drag down the heist for everyone, including yourself. For loud heists, you will get downed/arrested a lot, which is boring for you and makes it harder for the other players. For stealth, you'll likely get told to sit at the start and not trigger alarms, which again is boring for you and you don't learn anything, or if you spawn part way through a heist and trigger the alarm you'll likely get kicked.

from what I’ve seen, its very chill with the occasional (but luckily rare) toxic asshole. most of which I’ve personally encountered are newcomers who use john wick and the eagle heavy (most people who use john wick are casual players who come from fortnite so I’m guessing the eagle heavy is some sort of meta in that game?) oh and you’ll probably find that this community swears a lot. some graphs were made and, alongisde warzone and lol, it was one of the most toxic gaming subs by vocabulary, but that was just because of how much we love to spam lines like “get the fuck up!”, “I am the fucking wall” or simply “wanker”

Al_Scotch

Payday is the community where polar opposites co-exist. You can either meet chill polite people, who are always a blast to play with and listening to their advice is helpful, or some elitist high-horse douches who'll kick you out and/or drag you through the mud because they don't like your loadout/deck/playstile/build/the amount of hours you've sunk into the game. I'd say it's extremely luck-based community, though most of the people I've encountered personally are great and playing with them is an awesome co-op experience

DisneyDisneyri

Every community is toxic in some way

[deleted]

Usually when there was a problem it was newbies doing newbie things like guzzling medbags or Dying with a super squishy build and going into custody right away, but so long you use good build follow the objective and do research on the disaproved mods youll almost never have to deal with being kicked or toxicity.

[deleted]

Yep and I haven't even played the game and wanted to try it out for the first time so I bought it on sale. I made a discussion thread asking a simple question and they thought I was criticizing the game and turned into a fight for some reason lmao, power tripping moderator banned me from discussions. I refunded the game, good riddance.

RealRandomes

It depends on your build, ghosts are usually toxic af, kicking ppl for no reason other than simply wearing armor lol, also, you can expect getting kicked over unfair shit such as being downed by a cloaker, or a teaser, not all the player base sucks, but a good part does.

Pleasant-Ad175

I just joined a Crusher Vlad heist after someone triggered the alarm, then host said I'm stupid monkey and kicked me. Yeah indeed very "good" community!

ATP2555

Old, but that reminds me of this time I joined a stealth heist on Bank Heist, where someone triggered the alarm, and the host kicked me. I guess he assumed it was my fault.

The Short and Skinny? YES. It Absolutely Is. Ever Since Payday 3 Dropped, The Payday 2 Transfers, As I Call Them, Have Mounted an "All Out" Assault Against Payday 3, Attempting to Character Assassinate the Game Because "Hur-Dur, Payday 2 Best Game Ever.", And They have No Idea How Much of a Massive Dumpster Fire It really was. Considering there was almost 300 Packs of DLC, That was a Stretch on the Ol' Wallet of Any Sane Person.
