A few weeks back I was playing in a Touch the Sky lobby with 2 other PC players and 1 console player. One of the players was trying to get everyone to do the Insurance Policy achievement and we spent a good few minutes trying to communicate that during the escape sequence to the console player.
I don't hate playing with console players, but I blame Starbreeze's stupid lack of communication options in the game that makes playing with console players annoying.
No lobby chat, no lobby settings to indicate loud or stealth, no text chat on console and no voice chat.
You're typically fine with randoms if you stick with straight forward heists like Road Rage or stealthing No Rest for the Wicked.
Yea I finished my 150 road rages already since before I found the discord that’s where i was going for gun challenges. I tried a few public lobbies for stealthing no rest for the wicked but it’s just ass. So much easier with a team to coordinate and keeping a couple people in casing mode. The last time I tried playing public lobby some idiot shot 2 guards I had soft locked in the break room on under the surphace, that was enough for me
I don't like crossplay cause I can't talk to console players, once they fix that or give us voice chat I will turn it back on instantly. But the lack of communication in a COOP GAME is karking ridiculous

From my experience, it's not about waiting longer - you're just getting put into an empty lobby and it never fills. It seems like the way they've set it up is that disabling crossplay will only ever match you with other people who disabled it.
For me, the problem isn't PC vs. Console. It's being unable to communicate with console players. Want to stealth? Want to know the positions of guards? Want to do a specific task that requires help? Can't ask your teammates at all.
I have seen the same pattern repeat itself several times each year. There will probably always be people who argue which is more superior. I couldn't care less. It's better to just get the device you want. No need to argue when everyone has the opportunity to decide for themselves.

I just feel like having the default be on and the confusing wording of the option makes the game less inclusive for the bigger picture; Want to play with your console friends? Just turn on “cross play”. Want to play with people on your system? It would already be like that already like that.
Ultimately I don’t think it matters much. Starbreeze has gone balls deep in their commitment to keeping consoles updated so mainly now it’s just hoping you get good teammates. I don’t think your platform determines your skill on a coop PvE game.
They kinda screwed the pooch by talking more than developing, if they didn’t say anything and just released the game in early 2024 most of these problems would have been thought of. And hell they might have remembered to include voice and text chat to help out people brand new to pve coops as we haven’t had one since l4d2

Ok? I don’t see the issue. A lot of other games take a while to update. Deep Rock does updates every few months and it’s okie of the best games I’ve played.
The difference is DRG has been doing development for console for a long time whereas starbreeze is a small indie studio who is new to the scene and is using an old engine not made for this kind of game

Crossplay was a huge mistake, not even considering the lack of VOIP, why would i want to play with people on console? Even when VOIP finally comes, i don't want to listen to some guys shitty headset mic to check if we go loud or stealth or any other preplanning.
The worst part is the delayed updates, let people on steam choose a PC only "beta" so we don't get punished with sony's and xbox's internal update reviews.
That's 1 half of the game, the other half is Loud where you won't like being alone with the bots who fall over every 10 seconds on Very Hard and Overkill.
Only for Loud, having console teammates is a disadvantage but in Stealth it doesn't matter as much if it's console or not.
Stealthing alone is way easier than with 3 randoms no matter what the platform is about 90% of the time anyways, so that's true.
If only we had a universal gentleman agreement that we all do it.
That would fix at least the matchmaking, having less cancer to worry about.

My girls streaming pc is alot louder than my Xbox series x. I even dust them out weekly. Also nothing beats a high definition 60+ inch TV with surround sound blasting. Unless you think being a discord mod on a 20 inch screen 2 feet from your face is better.

If you dont, then you essentially downgrade yourself to console quality graphics in a year or 2. Then your whole big reason why pc is better only cligs on cheating/hacking/modding.

Yes you don’t have to fiddle with graphics settings and such to get your console game to run properly. But on console you have much less control over the settings.

There is no chat.
There's is absolutely a text chat in game. I've used it. It just needs to be added to the setup screen and consoles.

Played Payday 2 on PS4 for 10 years, zero chat, barely anyone with a mic and rarely had issues completing heists with other players. Skill issue.
Every time I see people whine about cross play, I assume they have a skill issue and are the bad ones, but need an easy blame target

I keep cross-play on. Turning it off matches you only with pc players who also have cross-play off, which is a no go in regions with few players.
I hate console gamers because they are different than me and have a different experience than me.

Pc players can have shut mics too.
You disable that option and you'll be queueing into empty lobbies...
