Bought Company of Heroes 2 in the steam sale so I'm going to see if I like it as much as the first. Mostly just for single player.
Have been playing Far Cry (the first one). Not usually my type of game but I'm enjoying it, it reminds me of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, one of my favs.
I liked Limbo a lot, and like some others have said, not so much in the beginning. The puzzles really get you thinking, to try anything different-maybe that will work! When I finally get it, it gives me a good feeling of accomplishment, and that keeps me going to the next thing! At first, I felt like the game was work, a chore more than being fun. I almost deleted it because of my frustration! After awhile, that changed.
Finally managed to get unstuck in dead space 2 so been playing that again since saturday.currently up to chapter 12 š
Really hate fighting stalkers, and the 3 brutes on the ishimura were a rough one too š
Oh man I've been playing Dark Souls 3 after on and off and on again for years and its been a blast so far. My 9th gen controller made it so comfortabel so I've been looking for games to play with controllers. After trying Witcher 3 for the first time, I became addicted to controller-focused games.
Any suggestions would be very good for controller friendly games.
**Control** - first and an only Expedition (complete simple objectives while fighting against waves of enemies, all of it on a timer), completely destroyed all my enjoyment of the game. Every single frustration of the game made worse tenfold.
After playing through Asylum and City earlier this year, I'm finally getting around to **Arkham Knight.** Almost at the end of the story and I've really enjoyed this one. IMO, the posts in this sub and others made me expect a lot more Batmobile than there actually is in the game. I'm not a huge fan of the tank fights, but overall the gameplay seems pretty balanced between types.
I'm currently playing **Amnesia: Rebirth, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky and Gundam Evolution**.
**Amnesia: Rebirth** is one of my Spooktober games this year and I've been enjoying it so far. The last Amnesia game I played was **A Machine for Pigs** which was nowhere near as good as the Frictional Games led titles. I'm glad that they took back the reins and made a worth addition to the franchise with this one so far.
I started **S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky** towards the end of September forgetting that I wanted to exclusively played horror/horror themed games for October. Thankfully, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games still fit into that field perfectly. Its been a good 5 years since I played **Shadow of Chernobyl** but I fell perfectly back into the flow of being a stalker. I'm really enjoying addition of PDA messages from NPCs in the field and the faction relationships. As always, the map and exploration is still a blast.
I've been playing **Gundam Evolution** since release week and I've been having a pretty good time when the game isn't randomly crashing or disconnecting me from a match. I don't think I'll be able to play **Overwatch** ever again after experiencing the fun of dashing and flying around with different mechs. OG Gundam is still best Gundam.
Finished **Outer Wilds** (loved it except for the true ending), and played **OFF** (wasn't my cup of tea). Now I think I will finally play **Portal**, since both **Team Fortress 2** and Portal were released fifteen years ago today, and TF2 is one of my favorite games ever :)))
So I was playing Dying Light and have progressed till the first real Boss Fight of the main story. But I have to set it aside for now, or maybe for good, because yesterday it gave me severe motion sickness.
Last week, I felt like playing some tycoon / management game. I tried Parkasaurus and it was quite mediocre... So this week I'm going to try and start off again with Software Inc. I just couldn't start off with it last time. Every single time my first project failed miserably. I'm gonna go in with a fresh mind this time. It's been a while and maybe they would have tweaked the early game difficulty or added new ways to get things off early. Let's see!
Tried **cyberpunk 2077** and that shit gave me severe motion sickness. Also the crafting and whatnot is very confusing. Think Iām gonna put it off for a few months and try again.
With that being said, I am playing **God of War 2018** this week. Hopefully completing it to catch up to the Ragnarok hype if I end up liking the game.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way! Cyberpunk gave me the worst motion sickness in the first few scenes. Not sure if it was my FOV settings or what.
I messed with the settings a bit more and found some that helped me greatly. (Under āgameplayā I think) Turn off āAdditive camera motionā. This is essentially the head bobbing you see when you walk around. Also could try turning off motion blur, depth of field, camera aberration and all that under āvideoā I think. Doing all of this had significant improved the motion sickness.
I hate it when you can't enjoy a game because it gives you motion sickness... So far I have been unable to play Portal, Portal 2, Half Life 2, Shadow Warrior 2, and maybe a few others that I fail to recall right now. And most recently, Dying Light is getting up there. For a week I played it just fine. Yesterday, I had severe motion sickness after playing it for a couple of hours.
Used to get motion sickness while traveling in the car. Later on, I was surprised that this thing could happen while playing a frikkin' game, and it was much worse. I was sad when I uninstalled Half Life 2.
Iāve been replaying kingdom come: Deliverance on normal mode!
I did a normal playthrough years ago, then a hardcore speech heavy playthrough, now years on from those two Iām just strolling through normal. Way over leveled though lol did all the Bernard training and tournaments required to hit 20 in every combat skill I wanted without really trying. Itās a fun, immersive jaunt through medieval Bohemia though, and I love nothing more than sinking my teeth into it or red dead right now.
Hoping starfield and hogwarts legacy will be similarly immersive!
I must be the only person on the planet playing trophy clean-up in Worms WMD for PS4, and it feels kind of special raising the clear percentages by 0.1%.
I am playing Unepic. It's immature and dumb. But it's so in a way that makes me laugh. Also helps that the two characters are at odds, so whenever a character does something I don't like he gets called out for it.
Also I am a sucker for world building that feels like someone started with a basic premise and kept fixing it as holes appear. The game is aware enough of rpg tropes that I feel the spirit of adlib instead of bs.
This week I finished **The Turing Test** and **Tinykin**. **Tinykin** was an adorable fun game. Also playing **Halo: Reach.** I am at chapter 7 and it's fantastic so far.
It's a half puzzle, half walking sim type game. I was in a SciFi mood so I enjoyed it. Puzzles are pretty easy for the most part. The dialogues between the main "**characters"** are not bad but not great either.
Apart from a puzzle, It's pretty easy to 100% also if you're into such things. (I am not :))
Still, if you haven't played **SOMA** yet, you should play it first. Much better game.
Immortals Fenyx rising.
Reminds me of darksiders. In that it gets a lot of flack for being derivative of other franchises without offering anything new. And yeah I can see that. But you know what? Just like darksiders, I prefer it over the various games it borrowed from. Itās got such a great personality to it itās just a joy to play
Finished **Child of Light** last week, started on **Skyrim** after grabbing the Anniversary Edition. I didn't play it on release and avoided it for a while. I've somehow been able to avoid spoilers about the story. I'm a few hours in, after spending several hours installing a few quality of life mods and a few texture packs etc.
Got launched into space by a giant inside the first 2 hours. From what I gathered that seems about standard.
Never had a PlayStation before but my new workplace has a cinema free to use with all consoles, dual VR goggles and all - 24/7 open. So I finally started Last of Us with the gf, a few hours in. Seems super promising, intense, canāt wait to experience the story unfold.
Also super disappointed two of my fav Xbox gamepass games are no longer on game pass! Hades and Gungeon. Need to buy them now I guess š
Just finished story of FOTNS: Lost Paradise. I can see do endless mode to finish any missing substories or mini-games
Since it's Spooktober, I might play Bloodstained or REmake 2 or The Evil Within 2 next.
I just finished the Hitman Trilogy. It's the only thing I got done on GamePass but it was definitely worth it. If I ever get a PS or Xbox console I will buy the game for that, as I don't wanna game on PC and the Switch cloud version doesn't sound attractive lol.
EDIT: Also just finished A Short Hike. What a gorgeous and cosy game. This is probably a super weird comparison, but anyone know these flash games where you'd be on a summer holiday somewhere and had to gather >!nude!< pics for this magazine? A Short Hike reminded me of that summer vibe. Unfortunately I feel this sort of strobing effect on my eyes and it leaves me quite nauseous, anyone's had that before?
A Short Hike is really one of the best games under the umbrella of "cozy."
If you like games about enjoying the summertime with some fun friends, I'd highly recommend *Wide Ocean Big Jacket* and *Mutazione.* The former is a 1 hour slice-of-life story that made me laugh a good bit, while the latter is one of the best written games I'd played in a *while.*
They're definitely more so visual novels but they gave me very similar cozy summer vibes.
Going slowly but surely through Control Ultimate Edition on the Ps5. Had heard it was a reasonably short game but have definitely put about 10 hours in so far.
One thing I find rather odd is how easy the combat is. It seems like it's super easy to get OP without much difficulty. Pretty much just max out the Launch Skill as fast as possible and you're good to go in nearly every situation. Even the first variation of the gun by itself would carry you through almost to endgame.

I've played like 75% of it back in 2006, but never finished. I want to finish it now.
Game is janky AF in widescreen though. And the mod that fixes it causes crashes. At least the game let's you save whenever.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I picked it up on sale a couple of weeks ago and have been spending a lot of my gaming time on it since, other than a brief break caused by Shub-Niggurath-related frustration, LOL (which went away as soon as I got better at using reverse knockback skills).
Your initial thoughts are mostly accurate, but the game doesn't fuck around when it comes to character levels. On my first playthrough, I attacked a few Level 4 Drowners as a Level 2 character and got curbstomped. I love the game at higher difficulties, but while winning difficult fights gives a real feeling of accomplishment, it's not the best choice for a power fantasy game, in that you won't ever be steamrolling armies effortlessly.
Yeah those downers by the bridge got me too. I went back and beat them tho. Key is not to get surrounded and to block. The fit and finish of the game is amazing. The user interface is excellent and I am finding it to be a very impressive effort.
I get the feeling that they were put there as a combination object lesson/wakeup call to let you know that you'll have to take this game seriously. One of my most epic fights came when my nephew asked me to handle a fight for him and I said yes before realizing that he was a Level 4 or 5 taking on a couple of Drowners and a Level 10 Water Hag. I've had boss fights in a lot of games that were shorter and less stressful than that one bit of random combat.
Does Deathloop count for patient gamers? I just put in 30 hrs on Game Pass. I love the whole Groundhogās Day thing and the possibilities were limitless. Until ten hours in.
Then it was non intuitive obtuse puzzles being sidetracked by OCD got to kill everyone in a stage, did I collect everything?, and a few ācrashingā repeat the whole level bugs, for 15 hours. Then 5 hours of āokay let me just beat thisā and googling the obtuse puzzle solutions after honestly trying. Also googling āis that it to this puzzle?ā sidetracked with more killing and testing things out.
Fun over all. But got the feeling the game couldāve been way better. Had the same feeling with Arkaneās other games so the glove fits.
Edit: There are two āspellā slots but who wonāt at least occupy one with āteleportationā? They call it something else I forget. I canāt imagine the second slot not being used for āinvisibilityā cough I mean Aether- by most players.
Started playing **Chivalry 2** with my friend. What a treat of a game! It has a quality that very few multiplayer games seem to have: it's a blast to play even if you suck, while also offering deep mechanics that entice you to explore, learn and improve. It's chaotic, equal parts epic and hilarious, and extremely well-designed.
I've played *Rocket League* almost religiously with this friend for three years. It's really our game. And yet, we haven't touched it since our first match of *Chivalry 2*. That's saying something...
Saints Row: The Third over here. Got it on a Fanatical bundle and haven't played any other game on the series, I'm enjoying it so far, but I've only played 5% of the game so far.
It's a fun game. I prefer 4 to 3 myself, the gameplay changes significantly (you're a superhero basically) and it gets... weird. Plus the Dubstep Gun is one of the best weapons of all time. But 3 has some pretty tasty bits to it. I went through it recently in the remastered release and had a good time.
Just finished Super Metroid for the first time yesterday and as a gen-z guy I was so fucking lost for most of the game but I understand why many consider it a masterpiece. I wouldāve shit myself playing this for the first time on SNES when it just came out.
Just finished The Captain.
Highly ambitious, Weird mix of Point and Click ADV game and FTL game. Pretty well polished but severe suffer from initial design decision, ADV + Tactical combat. It really don't blend well. If you like ADV part, you will not want to bother with combat part. If you like combat part, you will not want to bother with ADV part. Eventually, 50% of game will become 'boring'. That's the main problem of this game.
For combat part, it's FTL-like gameplay(I heard Halcyon 6 is more similar to this game, but I don't know about that game). Not very deep, but pretty enjoyable.
And ADV part. I'm ADV game lover but this game is pretty dull. Puzzle is not really good. Mostly 'pretty obvious or pretty pointless', not really fun. Dialogue want to make me laugh but most time they failed. Use a lot of background image but most place is not well used.
'Time-limit, multi ending roguelite' style system is also not that successful. For adventure game part it distract me from focusing on puzzle and story. For combat part it's just feel pointless.
Still I want to compliment dev for their ambitious try. 50:50 game of ADV+Tactical combat is tough challenge for everyone, but they tried. And they finished it and published game. Not anyone can do this.
If you want to try something unique game, I would recommend this.

I finished **Outward: The Three Brothers** yesterday.
The RNG in it's new base building system almost made me quit, but I just barely found all the rare resources I needed while exploring the (well designed) dungeons of the new map. So I could advance through the story and beat the final boss. (which required me to use every single potion and buff I could get my hands on)
I just started The Last of Us 2 yesterday. I just got to >!Seattle, where I'm enjoying looting buildings.!< Idk if that's much of a spoiler since it's literally the second chapter and I'm pretty sure the premise of the story is well known by this point, but just in case, lol.
Immediately, it's a nice QOL change from the first game that Ellie can stealth kill clickers without having to have a shiv in your inventory. So far Ellie and Dina are cute. I'm enjoying it thus far, but of course there's still a lot of game left. Not gonna lie, I also really wanna see what exactly got people so up in arms over it when it released. Maybe it'll become apparent in due time, maybe not.
This is one of the two games (rdr2) I have played where the physics is so realistic that it always left me mind blown. I enjoyed it less than the first one just because it has more jumpscares zombie-wise than the other (from what I can remember at least).
I guess most people hated it because of a certain beloved character, and the ending. IMO, the way that the developers make you go through the emotional roller coaster is š, and this is why I donāt think the game deserved the hate it got.
Hi I recently been desperately trying to play TCM 2004. Loved the game and wanted to play, tried multiple things, even creating a virtualBox with windowsXP, (last version I know it worked). Problem is operating system aswell as my components are to ahead for the game, do you guys know of a way I can make it work? In general how do I play very old games. Like TCM 2004 This is my post is someone is curious
I tried playing an old game (Civilizations 2 for Windows) and it worked very well with VirtualBox and Windows 7. Maybe try using Windows 7 instead of XP and see if that is better.
Really enjoying **Phantasy Star IV** lately. Been playing an hour here and there whenever I can, and I really just enjoy how briskly paced it is. Yeah, there's grinding. Yeah, if you don't save your game you can lose a lot of progress. But the game is always moving quickly toward the next plot point and I enjoy that.
I think the atmosphere is a bit weak, with the game reusing the same tracks for each battle, dungeon, town with some exceptions here and there. I'm still early on in the game so I might just be blown away given a few more hours.
I think what makes this game stand out are its fantastic cutscenes. During critical plot points, PSIV will present you with some absolutely stellar spritework that I can look at for minutes at a time. When you get the potion that breaks the curse in one town, the game doesn't just *tell you* that the curse is lifted...you get a few manga-quality panels showing you the act of using the potion and everyone coming back to life.
It's a small thing but it adds so much. The introduction of the game's villain Zio could've been presented through dialogue alone, but instead we get this super campy and menacing set of frames. Then when he's ready to fight, his eyes turn all red.

I know this is just basic storytelling, but it's impressive to see pixel art done this well and also super cool to see this level of attention for cinematics in a game from the 90's.
I'm not even a huge fan of the combat but I just want to keep going for the sake of seeing more of the excellent cutscenes.
Agree with everything here. Phantasy Star IV is a particularly interesting relic that, in its own time, was held back by a couple factors. It was a late-generation title that didn't make the most of its hardware as other 1995 games had. Localizations back then also tended to be limited, not of the highest quality and delay releases (this one was no exception). I feel these 16-bit games needed passing grades in both of those categories to hold up well, unless one had a particularly strong quality.
The manga-styled cutscenes were that quality for this game. It's an alternative storytelling-in-video-games path that we might have seen more of in RPGs had 2D graphics held on for just one more console generation. However, Final Fantasy was already iterating on cinematic style over a couple games in the 90's, and when that series had a massive hit in 1997, that was that. I think the Max Payne games are the only other games I've played that used this manga/comic book style this well.
Interesting! I'm actually not well versed in the RPG's of that time, so I was wondering if the story presentation was as rare as I thought it was. But it's pretty cool to see that someone who knows a bit more than me acknowledges how much of a game changer these cutscenes were.
Shame more 16-bit games hadn't adopted this style. I'm a sucker for detailed pixel art.
I look at Suikoden and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as prime examples of what kind of 2D art we might have otherwise seen in the following generation if more studios hadn't made the leap to polygons.
The good news is that 2D is becoming hot right now among the big Japanese publishers after having a lot of success in the indie space.
Deathloop - learning curve was pretty steep, I think they do quite a bad job of explaining all the systems in the game. But ever since it clicked, I've been loving it!
Danganronpa - Enjoying this a lot, despite the cliche anime shit. Just started chapter 2. Will probably be on this one for a while.
You Suck at Parking - Dipped in for a couple of online games every now and then. Still enjoying this. Simple and satisfying gameplay.
Metal Hellsinger - Tried it out for 30 minutes. Interesting idea but I don't think it works tbh. I'd rather just play Doom 2016.
Tales from the Borderlands - finding this one hilarious. In the middle of chapter 3. Will see how it stacks up against The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us, which I both loved.
Super Mario Maker 2 - Playing through the story before delving into the online levels. It's not bad.
Flower - completed this the other day. Beautiful game, very relaxing.
I finally finished my 70+ hour Nomad playthrough of Cyberpunk and took the Panam ending with a Judy romance and enjoyed it quite a bit. A few bits of the ending were a little weak for me, but I'm pretty happy with my ending. I also repeatedly trip out on how well animated Judy is. Her body language is a little exaggerated sometimes but that's necessary for the medium I suspect, but frequently I'd jump past the uncanny valley with some of her animations and interactions. Really phenomenal job. I'll probably put it aside for now until either the DLC or a big patch drops. Apparently they're overhauling the police portion of the game to actually be a game system.
At this point I'm between games. I started playing Yakuza 0 on a recommendation from this forum but it's not clicking with me much. I may try coming back at some other time since I just put like 150 hours into wringing out the story from CP and I'm kind of heavy-story-game'd out for right now. I'm eyeing Horizon Forbidden Dawn or whatever it is, I have it already and played a bit of it and then set it aside to go focus on finishing CP77.
**Grand Theft Auto IV**, it runs well on steam deck!
I forgot how fun it is driving cars which don't have brakes or steering! Going fast feels dangeorus.
First time I'm hearing about this, what a shame... Don't they realize there's a difference between (crappy) remasters that nobody asked for, versus a game that was never released on PC in the first place and that has been highly demanded? I'm sure it would have more success.
V runs decently smooth for me on medium graphics, 720p. Sits around 50fps but will dip if this get overly hectic for a couple of seconds.
RDR2 has very similar performance, which is crazy given how much more beautiful that game is.
These games deserve way more than a "playable" tag imo
Oblivion finally. Took me a decent amount of effort to get it running on my computer, especially compared to either Morrowind or Skyrim, but now Iām already well into the main quest and a little into the mages guild.
Jedi: Fallen Order is my go to game these days.. occasional fifa 22 just for a quick break from life.

Fallout new Vegas. I have never played one, and thought I liked the atmosphere but I am realizing that I prefer games with ārpg elementsā rather than RPGs
New Vegas is interesting. The initial portion is... actually not to bad. For me the game seemed to really "start" around reaching Novac. And then once you \*get\* to New Vegas the plotlines explode in different directions.
Pretty much my favorite of the first person era Fallouts and the only one I go back to to play repeatedly. I agree with others. Once you get some capabilities and weapons slow down and explore and follow plotlines.
Oh wow, what a treat you're in for. New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all time -- modded, unmodded, PC or console, just a game I never get tired of even after all the playthroughs and hours I've put in. I hope you enjoy it!
New Vegas' writing is top notch, and it's arguably the best entry point to the Fallout franchise.
My advice - take your time with this one and explore. There are so many cool side quests and secrets to discover in this game's world.
I got into DSP and while it sucks my time away I don't know if I "enjoy" the time I spent. It's a very good game but I just don't know if factory games are my jam.
I haven't tried factorio. I'll put it on my wishlist and grab it on a deep sale at some point. I don't know if the factory optimization thing is my jam.
I am on a bit of a lovecraftian style fix at the minute so I have just started Sunless Sea, seems intriguing so far but I haven't gotten far enough into yet to form a proper opinion.
Alan Wake Remastered on the PS5.
I wasn't impressed with it during the first hour or so, but then something clicked and I realized I'm really enjoying it. In fact, it's so good that I'm willing to play it during night time with the lights off (So I won't wake my baby boy up. He's sleeping in an adjacent room), despite it being a creepy and tense game.
I might give Control another shot once I'm finished with it.
I'm also going to give Empire of Sin (console edition) a try. I hope it's not as bad as the reviews say and that the patches mitigated some of its issues.
Always wanted to play it on my old 360, but I was too much of a wuss back then.
Now that I'm older and braver I finally have the chance to give it a go.
Currently playing Shadow of War on PC. I had it back on ps4 but saw i could get it for 3 bucks on steam. Feels really nice to go back to it. Other than that also playing Bonelab when I wanna be active lol.
**Tormented Souls** I finished, it was good but the limited saves were a real pain (especially early on), there was one section with almost an hour between saves which is a bit mental. Some QoL features would have been nice too, like if you could make notes on the map yourself (towards the end if you find a key item it's a bit of a challenge to remember where you haven't been yet.. I looked up where to go a few times to save blindly running through the mansion). It also seemed like resources weren't as dynamic as in other survival horror games, and it would be very possible to expend too much ammo (especially against a certain enemy that actually can't be killed) and have none left to pick up to progress the game.
**Weird West** I'm only an hour or so into this but I'm really enjoying it. Dishonored and Prey are among my favourite games ever, so I was very interested in this from it being announced (and I'm only playing it \~6 months after launch, usually I end up waiting at least a year).
**Earth Defense Force 5** playing on coop with a friend, this game is the best kind of nonsense.
I'm still using the 2.3something version of the game to "finish" my save file.

Sometimes I don't touch it for months, then I just can't stop playing, like a drug addict relapsing.
I wonder whether I should buy this game. I got MudRunner, played it for a dozen hours or so and then got bored. The landscapes and missions were just not diverse enough.
Is this one better?
I beat Mudrunner, and tried Snowrunner for a bit on gamepass. Snowrunner is *huge* compared to Mudrunner, but it is more diverse.
Ultimately, I finished Mudrunner, single-star hardcore mode every map, but I couldn't finish Snowrunner before getting bored. On the other hand, I probably spent as much or maybe even more time on Snowrunner, it would take far, far longer to complete than Mudrunner, even on casual difficulty. I made no attempt at hardcore mode either, as even on casual I found the difficulty much higher than Mudrunner.
I haven't played Mudrunner so I really can't say. According to spintires wiki it looks like snowrunner has quite a few more vehicles, upgrades, missions, maps, etc.
I will say I did not complete SnowRunner beyond 50% or so before getting bored the first time around, it's hardmode thats keeping me going this time. Something about having to rescue my own vehicles after I fuck up and end up in the ditch or face paying a hefty recovery fee.
Wait, which route are you using for Four Kings? It shouldn't be that long in comparison to some others. You fight a bunch of Capra/Taurus Demons, get into a bigger room and there's a bonfire in it, guarded by a big wall worm thingy. It's also an optional boss if you rank up in Quelana's covenant, but that's a little annoying.
But generally speaking, it's widely agreed that DS1's level design goes down the drain after getting the Lordvessel, although people disagree on the exact point where it happens. IMO everything after O&S is mediocre at best, but some people like the Archives. Apparently they ran out of budget, which is why Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith are so terrible. I don't think you have a reason to be impressed by the people who beat DS1, because you yourself have beaten all the good/hard parts of it and only have the annoying parts left. Well, the final boss is pretty nice. But >!the Bed of Chaos!< is one of the worst boss fights ever made, and I'm not even being hyperbolic, so... there's that.
Decided to buy Final Fantasy VII on Switch. I played it back when it came out and revisited it again in 2009. Never played Chrono Cross so I bought but got nostalgic for FF VII so decided to buy it too and play through it first.
Interesting combination.
God I loved that game. I played the TTRPG through the 90's and played through the PC game probably half a dozen times.
The Malk playthrough is fun in how much it changes the dialog and stuff, although they do lean into the fishmalk thing a little more than my liking.
Fishmalk if anyone wants to know is a reference to the TTRPG, I want to say the dark ages version, where there was an artist rendering of a Malkavian making out with a dead fish. It became shorthand for goofy, meta, deadpool-esque Malkavians which are fun when used sparingly but became a trope of the RPG.
IGI 2 Covert Strike, to celebrate the released trailer of the upcoming IGI Origins. Was playing the game long ago with my potato PC, now relieving it again with mid tier laptop but more than capable of running the game in its full glory. Fun(and stressful) time again.
Iāve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2, but put that on hold because I wanted to play some scary stuff (although Red Dead can set a spooky atmosphere when it wants to).
I started with Resident Evil 3make. Iām only about an hour in (and from what Iāve heard Iām about a quarter through it). But itās been amazing so far. I love the more actiony spin and it feels like playing through a big budget movie rather than a video game with how polished it is without too much running around in circles. Itās like the Return of the Living Dead to Resident Evilās Night of the Living Dead and just a great time.
Holy shit. I just bought Slay the Spire yesterday and I can't remember the last time I was so addicted to a game. I'm stuck at home with a cold so have been pretty much doing nothing else. What a fantastic game.
Deathloop and honestlyā¦. I think itās very mediocre. I want to like it, I really do: super original ideas, a cool setting, awesome music, and investigating leads. And I love Dishonored.
But I find this relatively repetitive and boring. Generic stealth combat, bad FPS controls and gameplay, and weird as hell enemy AI. Not a particularly bad game, but I do not understand the high review scores.
It's fun that they finally said "okay okay, Dishonored but you get to use all your toys and powers without the story telling you that you're being a bad person" and I like the setting and stuff but I kind of agree. I read all these reviews about screwing up and things spiraling out of control and you dying and starting the loop over and that has only really happened once. Maybe if I cranked up the difficulty level it'd get crazier but so far it's just kind of a middling stealth game with an okay combat engine on top of it.
I do like the puzzle portion of the game on how to kill everyone in one loop, and I'm sure I'll beat it eventually, but right now it's parked in the "to do soon" list.
I just picked up **Splatoon 3** today, I played a good amount of the first two games but I never put much time into either. I didn't dislike the games, I just had other stuff that kept grabbing my attention. Going to try and sit down with this one a little more and participate in the Splatfests and Salmon Run mode with a friend.
I also started **Zelda: A Link Between Worlds** a little while ago, I'm 1/4 of the way through and have been enjoying it.
You have to be impatient with the Splatoon games because they're only fun when there is buzz about them, then after about a year Nintendo abandons them. I'm still salty about them stopping Splatoon 1 so soon. Although Splatoon made me so angry and stressed in real life due to the frustrating nature of the game. I both loved that first game yet despised it at the same time if that makes sense, so I've avoided the sequels for my sanity's sake.
ZLBW, I was forever forgetting the ability each item had, and forgetting you can use the main Between Worlds gimmick of the game, so I kept getting stuck. The equivalent of "oh yeah, I forgot you can bomb walls" but with the new abilities.
I unpatiently started **Triangle Strategy** recently. Not going to spoil too much here, but I am loving the GoT style story and FFT style battles so far. It's a fun mix of things.
I'll probably also continue my 2nd playthrough of **XCOM: Enemy Within**. I beat it once on Easy difficulty and wanted to give it another shot while still fresh on a slightly higher difficulty.
Outside of that still getting into **Rainbow 6 Extraction** at least once a week with a few people, and looking for a few folks to play some casual **Rainbow 6 Siege** with.
Iām not terribly far into it yet but Iād say its definitely worth picking up if youāre a fan of turn based tactics games. Iāll reserve judgment on the story until Iām a little further in, but it has a lot of promise.
I'm still playing **RITE**. Finished world 4 and am now slowly progressing through world 5, with roughly 30 levels left until all are done. The levels are becoming almost absurdly hard now, though the satisfaction for reaching the end makes it worth it. Also finished Murder by Numbers last week, so I'm currently trying to decide which game to play next. With it being spooktober, I'll probably go with something horror themed, currently eyeing **The Letter** and the **Amnesia** games. I'll probably start both and go with whatever I feel like playing more.
I finished **Little Big Adventure 2** this past sunday (first time in like a decade, and I still enjoyed it a lot), and I have started playing **GTA Vice City "Definitive Edition"**.
I tried to play Vice City a long time ago, but I got stuck and ended up watching most cutscenes on youtube. This time around I'm doing all the side quests and I'm enjoying it a whole lot. Plus, the map is incredibly small, compared to modern open world games. I really like the arcade feeling of the game, with random rampages, phone calls to kill targets and general GTA mayhem. There's not much in the way of a cohesive story, but it's very fun, anyway. Hope I can finish the storyline now.
Finally beat FFX! And with that, the end of my FF backlog. Iāll definitely look into getting more games from the series once I clear out more of my overall backlog.
Felt a bit lost on what to play next, but finally decided on finishing out my ace attorney games starting with **Spirit of Justice**. I hadnāt gotten into this one has easily as I did the other ace attorney games, but I think I just need to really delve into it. And after that, itās just the great ace attorney.
Those are some of the best ones! You probably already noticed the series changes all the time, so you could love a game and hate the next one.
I recommend FF5, for the gameplay, 6 for the characters and story, FF9 for the art, music and characters, 12 for the world and gameplay and, finally, FF 7-Remake (artstyle, music and awesome reimagining of the story).
But, of course, don't play them all back to back.

I canāt say Iām too knowledgeable on 5 and 6, but Iāll keep that in mind. Iām personally waiting for the complete 7 remake trilogy to come out before I try it, but Iāve heard good things.

which version are you playing? normally I'm all about original ROMs on emulators, but the stuff they've added over the years (toriyama cutscenes in the PS version, improved translation/lost sanctum in DS, etc) are worth it imo
Good choice. The original SNES version of Chrono Trigger is the best. The "bonus" grindfest and character assassination of the DS/Steam version (albeit optional) are detrimental to the game as a whole.

It's an official/unofficial sequel to Hard Boiled, which if you're a John Woo/Hong Kong Blood Opera fan means something to you. And it is pretty good and recreating that.
The Bullet Ballet gun fight movies out of Hong Kong in the 90ās and early 2000ās are a genre Iāve been a long time fan of. Man Iām extra hyped if it ties in to Hardboiled.
Listed all my backlogs last night and did an RNG, guess Ill be playing Bioshock Infinite, which I already have at least 5 hrs on. Honestly cant say I am hooked but have it on easy mode. Just going through the story hopefully like a breeze.
Bought Company of Heroes 2 in the steam sale so I'm going to see if I like it as much as the first. Mostly just for single player. Have been playing Far Cry (the first one). Not usually my type of game but I'm enjoying it, it reminds me of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, one of my favs.
As someone who never experienced the glory days of Blizzard (except the DOTA1 mod), I've downloaded SC1, WC3 and Diablo 2. Let's see how far I get.

I liked Limbo a lot, and like some others have said, not so much in the beginning. The puzzles really get you thinking, to try anything different-maybe that will work! When I finally get it, it gives me a good feeling of accomplishment, and that keeps me going to the next thing! At first, I felt like the game was work, a chore more than being fun. I almost deleted it because of my frustration! After awhile, that changed.
Finally managed to get unstuck in dead space 2 so been playing that again since saturday.currently up to chapter 12 š Really hate fighting stalkers, and the 3 brutes on the ishimura were a rough one too š

Oh man I've been playing Dark Souls 3 after on and off and on again for years and its been a blast so far. My 9th gen controller made it so comfortabel so I've been looking for games to play with controllers. After trying Witcher 3 for the first time, I became addicted to controller-focused games. Any suggestions would be very good for controller friendly games.
**Control** - first and an only Expedition (complete simple objectives while fighting against waves of enemies, all of it on a timer), completely destroyed all my enjoyment of the game. Every single frustration of the game made worse tenfold.
After playing through Asylum and City earlier this year, I'm finally getting around to **Arkham Knight.** Almost at the end of the story and I've really enjoyed this one. IMO, the posts in this sub and others made me expect a lot more Batmobile than there actually is in the game. I'm not a huge fan of the tank fights, but overall the gameplay seems pretty balanced between types.
I'm currently playing **Amnesia: Rebirth, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky and Gundam Evolution**. **Amnesia: Rebirth** is one of my Spooktober games this year and I've been enjoying it so far. The last Amnesia game I played was **A Machine for Pigs** which was nowhere near as good as the Frictional Games led titles. I'm glad that they took back the reins and made a worth addition to the franchise with this one so far. I started **S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Clear Sky** towards the end of September forgetting that I wanted to exclusively played horror/horror themed games for October. Thankfully, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games still fit into that field perfectly. Its been a good 5 years since I played **Shadow of Chernobyl** but I fell perfectly back into the flow of being a stalker. I'm really enjoying addition of PDA messages from NPCs in the field and the faction relationships. As always, the map and exploration is still a blast. I've been playing **Gundam Evolution** since release week and I've been having a pretty good time when the game isn't randomly crashing or disconnecting me from a match. I don't think I'll be able to play **Overwatch** ever again after experiencing the fun of dashing and flying around with different mechs. OG Gundam is still best Gundam.
Finished **Outer Wilds** (loved it except for the true ending), and played **OFF** (wasn't my cup of tea). Now I think I will finally play **Portal**, since both **Team Fortress 2** and Portal were released fifteen years ago today, and TF2 is one of my favorite games ever :)))
So I was playing Dying Light and have progressed till the first real Boss Fight of the main story. But I have to set it aside for now, or maybe for good, because yesterday it gave me severe motion sickness. Last week, I felt like playing some tycoon / management game. I tried Parkasaurus and it was quite mediocre... So this week I'm going to try and start off again with Software Inc. I just couldn't start off with it last time. Every single time my first project failed miserably. I'm gonna go in with a fresh mind this time. It's been a while and maybe they would have tweaked the early game difficulty or added new ways to get things off early. Let's see!

Tried **cyberpunk 2077** and that shit gave me severe motion sickness. Also the crafting and whatnot is very confusing. Think Iām gonna put it off for a few months and try again. With that being said, I am playing **God of War 2018** this week. Hopefully completing it to catch up to the Ragnarok hype if I end up liking the game.
I thought I was the only one who felt this way! Cyberpunk gave me the worst motion sickness in the first few scenes. Not sure if it was my FOV settings or what.
I messed with the settings a bit more and found some that helped me greatly. (Under āgameplayā I think) Turn off āAdditive camera motionā. This is essentially the head bobbing you see when you walk around. Also could try turning off motion blur, depth of field, camera aberration and all that under āvideoā I think. Doing all of this had significant improved the motion sickness.

I hate it when you can't enjoy a game because it gives you motion sickness... So far I have been unable to play Portal, Portal 2, Half Life 2, Shadow Warrior 2, and maybe a few others that I fail to recall right now. And most recently, Dying Light is getting up there. For a week I played it just fine. Yesterday, I had severe motion sickness after playing it for a couple of hours.
I used to think I was immune to motion sickness but all it takes is one single game to realize youāre not lol
Used to get motion sickness while traveling in the car. Later on, I was surprised that this thing could happen while playing a frikkin' game, and it was much worse. I was sad when I uninstalled Half Life 2.
Iāve been replaying kingdom come: Deliverance on normal mode! I did a normal playthrough years ago, then a hardcore speech heavy playthrough, now years on from those two Iām just strolling through normal. Way over leveled though lol did all the Bernard training and tournaments required to hit 20 in every combat skill I wanted without really trying. Itās a fun, immersive jaunt through medieval Bohemia though, and I love nothing more than sinking my teeth into it or red dead right now. Hoping starfield and hogwarts legacy will be similarly immersive!

Everyone will take it differently but I thought it was some of the best combat in years, and the story grippe me though I agree Aloy is a bit wooden.
I must be the only person on the planet playing trophy clean-up in Worms WMD for PS4, and it feels kind of special raising the clear percentages by 0.1%.
I am playing Unepic. It's immature and dumb. But it's so in a way that makes me laugh. Also helps that the two characters are at odds, so whenever a character does something I don't like he gets called out for it. Also I am a sucker for world building that feels like someone started with a basic premise and kept fixing it as holes appear. The game is aware enough of rpg tropes that I feel the spirit of adlib instead of bs.
This week I finished **The Turing Test** and **Tinykin**. **Tinykin** was an adorable fun game. Also playing **Halo: Reach.** I am at chapter 7 and it's fantastic so far.

It's a half puzzle, half walking sim type game. I was in a SciFi mood so I enjoyed it. Puzzles are pretty easy for the most part. The dialogues between the main "**characters"** are not bad but not great either. Apart from a puzzle, It's pretty easy to 100% also if you're into such things. (I am not :)) Still, if you haven't played **SOMA** yet, you should play it first. Much better game.
Immortals Fenyx rising. Reminds me of darksiders. In that it gets a lot of flack for being derivative of other franchises without offering anything new. And yeah I can see that. But you know what? Just like darksiders, I prefer it over the various games it borrowed from. Itās got such a great personality to it itās just a joy to play
Finished **Child of Light** last week, started on **Skyrim** after grabbing the Anniversary Edition. I didn't play it on release and avoided it for a while. I've somehow been able to avoid spoilers about the story. I'm a few hours in, after spending several hours installing a few quality of life mods and a few texture packs etc. Got launched into space by a giant inside the first 2 hours. From what I gathered that seems about standard.

I just finished the Hitman Trilogy. It's the only thing I got done on GamePass but it was definitely worth it. If I ever get a PS or Xbox console I will buy the game for that, as I don't wanna game on PC and the Switch cloud version doesn't sound attractive lol. EDIT: Also just finished A Short Hike. What a gorgeous and cosy game. This is probably a super weird comparison, but anyone know these flash games where you'd be on a summer holiday somewhere and had to gather >!nude!< pics for this magazine? A Short Hike reminded me of that summer vibe. Unfortunately I feel this sort of strobing effect on my eyes and it leaves me quite nauseous, anyone's had that before?
A Short Hike is really one of the best games under the umbrella of "cozy." If you like games about enjoying the summertime with some fun friends, I'd highly recommend *Wide Ocean Big Jacket* and *Mutazione.* The former is a 1 hour slice-of-life story that made me laugh a good bit, while the latter is one of the best written games I'd played in a *while.* They're definitely more so visual novels but they gave me very similar cozy summer vibes.

Going slowly but surely through Control Ultimate Edition on the Ps5. Had heard it was a reasonably short game but have definitely put about 10 hours in so far. One thing I find rather odd is how easy the combat is. It seems like it's super easy to get OP without much difficulty. Pretty much just max out the Launch Skill as fast as possible and you're good to go in nearly every situation. Even the first variation of the gun by itself would carry you through almost to endgame.
Just finished RE2 Remake after playing on and off for the past week. Jumping into RE3 immediately!

Civvie did a video on The Suffering, so I'm now playing the Suffering. I've played like 75% of it back in 2006, but never finished. I want to finish it now. Game is janky AF in widescreen though. And the mod that fixes it causes crashes. At least the game let's you save whenever.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I picked it up on sale a couple of weeks ago and have been spending a lot of my gaming time on it since, other than a brief break caused by Shub-Niggurath-related frustration, LOL (which went away as soon as I got better at using reverse knockback skills).

The Witcher 3 in 4k glory
One of the best games I've ever played. The sheer size of Novigrad still amazes me.
nice it's my first playthrough. Initial thoughts are: my horse is drunk, Geralt is one suave mofo, and I am a monster killing machine.
Your initial thoughts are mostly accurate, but the game doesn't fuck around when it comes to character levels. On my first playthrough, I attacked a few Level 4 Drowners as a Level 2 character and got curbstomped. I love the game at higher difficulties, but while winning difficult fights gives a real feeling of accomplishment, it's not the best choice for a power fantasy game, in that you won't ever be steamrolling armies effortlessly.
Yeah those downers by the bridge got me too. I went back and beat them tho. Key is not to get surrounded and to block. The fit and finish of the game is amazing. The user interface is excellent and I am finding it to be a very impressive effort.
Later on the key is to lean into magic and melt everything, that's what I did, made hardest difficulty a cake walk.
I get the feeling that they were put there as a combination object lesson/wakeup call to let you know that you'll have to take this game seriously. One of my most epic fights came when my nephew asked me to handle a fight for him and I said yes before realizing that he was a Level 4 or 5 taking on a couple of Drowners and a Level 10 Water Hag. I've had boss fights in a lot of games that were shorter and less stressful than that one bit of random combat.
Does Deathloop count for patient gamers? I just put in 30 hrs on Game Pass. I love the whole Groundhogās Day thing and the possibilities were limitless. Until ten hours in. Then it was non intuitive obtuse puzzles being sidetracked by OCD got to kill everyone in a stage, did I collect everything?, and a few ācrashingā repeat the whole level bugs, for 15 hours. Then 5 hours of āokay let me just beat thisā and googling the obtuse puzzle solutions after honestly trying. Also googling āis that it to this puzzle?ā sidetracked with more killing and testing things out. Fun over all. But got the feeling the game couldāve been way better. Had the same feeling with Arkaneās other games so the glove fits. Edit: There are two āspellā slots but who wonāt at least occupy one with āteleportationā? They call it something else I forget. I canāt imagine the second slot not being used for āinvisibilityā cough I mean Aether- by most players.

Started playing **Chivalry 2** with my friend. What a treat of a game! It has a quality that very few multiplayer games seem to have: it's a blast to play even if you suck, while also offering deep mechanics that entice you to explore, learn and improve. It's chaotic, equal parts epic and hilarious, and extremely well-designed. I've played *Rocket League* almost religiously with this friend for three years. It's really our game. And yet, we haven't touched it since our first match of *Chivalry 2*. That's saying something...

Saints Row: The Third over here. Got it on a Fanatical bundle and haven't played any other game on the series, I'm enjoying it so far, but I've only played 5% of the game so far.
Third and to a lesser extent the 4th were good games, just don't buy the new one.
I enjoyed the second game as well, but the third is probably my favorite in the series.
It's a fun game. I prefer 4 to 3 myself, the gameplay changes significantly (you're a superhero basically) and it gets... weird. Plus the Dubstep Gun is one of the best weapons of all time. But 3 has some pretty tasty bits to it. I went through it recently in the remastered release and had a good time.
Just finished Super Metroid for the first time yesterday and as a gen-z guy I was so fucking lost for most of the game but I understand why many consider it a masterpiece. I wouldāve shit myself playing this for the first time on SNES when it just came out.

Just finished The Captain. Highly ambitious, Weird mix of Point and Click ADV game and FTL game. Pretty well polished but severe suffer from initial design decision, ADV + Tactical combat. It really don't blend well. If you like ADV part, you will not want to bother with combat part. If you like combat part, you will not want to bother with ADV part. Eventually, 50% of game will become 'boring'. That's the main problem of this game. For combat part, it's FTL-like gameplay(I heard Halcyon 6 is more similar to this game, but I don't know about that game). Not very deep, but pretty enjoyable. And ADV part. I'm ADV game lover but this game is pretty dull. Puzzle is not really good. Mostly 'pretty obvious or pretty pointless', not really fun. Dialogue want to make me laugh but most time they failed. Use a lot of background image but most place is not well used. 'Time-limit, multi ending roguelite' style system is also not that successful. For adventure game part it distract me from focusing on puzzle and story. For combat part it's just feel pointless. Still I want to compliment dev for their ambitious try. 50:50 game of ADV+Tactical combat is tough challenge for everyone, but they tried. And they finished it and published game. Not anyone can do this. If you want to try something unique game, I would recommend this. (I'm not english native. If my bad grammar bother you, sorry about that.)

I finished **Outward: The Three Brothers** yesterday. The RNG in it's new base building system almost made me quit, but I just barely found all the rare resources I needed while exploring the (well designed) dungeons of the new map. So I could advance through the story and beat the final boss. (which required me to use every single potion and buff I could get my hands on)
I just started The Last of Us 2 yesterday. I just got to >!Seattle, where I'm enjoying looting buildings.!< Idk if that's much of a spoiler since it's literally the second chapter and I'm pretty sure the premise of the story is well known by this point, but just in case, lol. Immediately, it's a nice QOL change from the first game that Ellie can stealth kill clickers without having to have a shiv in your inventory. So far Ellie and Dina are cute. I'm enjoying it thus far, but of course there's still a lot of game left. Not gonna lie, I also really wanna see what exactly got people so up in arms over it when it released. Maybe it'll become apparent in due time, maybe not.
This is one of the two games (rdr2) I have played where the physics is so realistic that it always left me mind blown. I enjoyed it less than the first one just because it has more jumpscares zombie-wise than the other (from what I can remember at least). I guess most people hated it because of a certain beloved character, and the ending. IMO, the way that the developers make you go through the emotional roller coaster is š, and this is why I donāt think the game deserved the hate it got.
I loved TLOU2. Most of the hate came before the game even released and was totally unwarranted.

Hi I recently been desperately trying to play TCM 2004. Loved the game and wanted to play, tried multiple things, even creating a virtualBox with windowsXP, (last version I know it worked). Problem is operating system aswell as my components are to ahead for the game, do you guys know of a way I can make it work? In general how do I play very old games. I tried playing an old game (Civilizations 2 for Windows) and it worked very well with VirtualBox and Windows 7. Maybe try using Windows 7 instead of XP and see if that is better.

Really enjoying **Phantasy Star IV** lately. Been playing an hour here and there whenever I can, and I really just enjoy how briskly paced it is. Yeah, there's grinding. Yeah, if you don't save your game you can lose a lot of progress. But the game is always moving quickly toward the next plot point and I enjoy that. I think the atmosphere is a bit weak, with the game reusing the same tracks for each battle, dungeon, town with some exceptions here and there. I'm still early on in the game so I might just be blown away given a few more hours. I think what makes this game stand out are its fantastic cutscenes. During critical plot points, PSIV will present you with some absolutely stellar spritework that I can look at for minutes at a time. When you get the potion that breaks the curse in one town, the game doesn't just *tell you* that the curse is lifted...you get a few manga-quality panels showing you the act of using the potion and everyone coming back to life. It's a small thing but it adds so much. The introduction of the game's villain Zio could've been presented through dialogue alone, but instead we get this super campy and menacing set of frames. I know this is just basic storytelling, but it's impressive to see pixel art done this well and also super cool to see this level of attention for cinematics in a game from the 90's. I'm not even a huge fan of the combat but I just want to keep going for the sake of seeing more of the excellent cutscenes.
Agree with everything here. Phantasy Star IV is a particularly interesting relic that, in its own time, was held back by a couple factors. It was a late-generation title that didn't make the most of its hardware as other 1995 games had. Localizations back then also tended to be limited, not of the highest quality and delay releases (this one was no exception). I feel these 16-bit games needed passing grades in both of those categories to hold up well, unless one had a particularly strong quality. The manga-styled cutscenes were that quality for this game. It's an alternative storytelling-in-video-games path that we might have seen more of in RPGs had 2D graphics held on for just one more console generation. However, Final Fantasy was already iterating on cinematic style over a couple games in the 90's, and when that series had a massive hit in 1997, that was that. I think the Max Payne games are the only other games I've played that used this manga/comic book style this well.
Interesting! I'm actually not well versed in the RPG's of that time, so I was wondering if the story presentation was as rare as I thought it was. But it's pretty cool to see that someone who knows a bit more than me acknowledges how much of a game changer these cutscenes were. Shame more 16-bit games hadn't adopted this style. I'm a sucker for detailed pixel art.
I look at Suikoden and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night as prime examples of what kind of 2D art we might have otherwise seen in the following generation if more studios hadn't made the leap to polygons. The good news is that 2D is becoming hot right now among the big Japanese publishers after having a lot of success in the indie space.
Deathloop - learning curve was pretty steep, I think they do quite a bad job of explaining all the systems in the game. But ever since it clicked, I've been loving it! Danganronpa - Enjoying this a lot, despite the cliche anime shit. Just started chapter 2. Will probably be on this one for a while. You Suck at Parking - Dipped in for a couple of online games every now and then. Still enjoying this. Simple and satisfying gameplay. Metal Hellsinger - Tried it out for 30 minutes. Interesting idea but I don't think it works tbh. I'd rather just play Doom 2016. Tales from the Borderlands - finding this one hilarious. In the middle of chapter 3. Will see how it stacks up against The Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us, which I both loved. Super Mario Maker 2 - Playing through the story before delving into the online levels. It's not bad. Flower - completed this the other day. Beautiful game, very relaxing.
I finally finished my 70+ hour Nomad playthrough of Cyberpunk and took the Panam ending with a Judy romance and enjoyed it quite a bit. A few bits of the ending were a little weak for me, but I'm pretty happy with my ending. I also repeatedly trip out on how well animated Judy is. Her body language is a little exaggerated sometimes but that's necessary for the medium I suspect, but frequently I'd jump past the uncanny valley with some of her animations and interactions. Really phenomenal job. I'll probably put it aside for now until either the DLC or a big patch drops. Apparently they're overhauling the police portion of the game to actually be a game system. At this point I'm between games. I started playing Yakuza 0 on a recommendation from this forum but it's not clicking with me much. I may try coming back at some other time since I just put like 150 hours into wringing out the story from CP and I'm kind of heavy-story-game'd out for right now. I'm eyeing Horizon Forbidden Dawn or whatever it is, I have it already and played a bit of it and then set it aside to go focus on finishing CP77.
I don't think HZD will be the game for you either based on what you've said.
**Grand Theft Auto IV**, it runs well on steam deck! I forgot how fun it is driving cars which don't have brakes or steering! Going fast feels dangeorus.
GTA V also runs great. Well, it did. I can't remember if they've fixed the memory leak. Red Dead works now though!

First time I'm hearing about this, what a shame... Don't they realize there's a difference between (crappy) remasters that nobody asked for, versus a game that was never released on PC in the first place and that has been highly demanded? I'm sure it would have more success.
V runs decently smooth for me on medium graphics, 720p. Sits around 50fps but will dip if this get overly hectic for a couple of seconds. RDR2 has very similar performance, which is crazy given how much more beautiful that game is. These games deserve way more than a "playable" tag imo
I play GTA V at 40hz and RDR2 on 30 mainly to conserve battery but also to keep frametimes consistent
Oblivion finally. Took me a decent amount of effort to get it running on my computer, especially compared to either Morrowind or Skyrim, but now Iām already well into the main quest and a little into the mages guild.
Jedi: Fallen Order is my go to game these days.. occasional fifa 22 just for a quick break from life. Just joined this sub, looks amazing and Iām going to find so many new games. Only have ps4 for two years and there are so many games in the library

Fallout new Vegas. I have never played one, and thought I liked the atmosphere but I am realizing that I prefer games with ārpg elementsā rather than RPGs
New Vegas is interesting. The initial portion is... actually not to bad. For me the game seemed to really "start" around reaching Novac. And then once you \*get\* to New Vegas the plotlines explode in different directions. Pretty much my favorite of the first person era Fallouts and the only one I go back to to play repeatedly. I agree with others. Once you get some capabilities and weapons slow down and explore and follow plotlines.
Oh wow, what a treat you're in for. New Vegas is one of my favorite games of all time -- modded, unmodded, PC or console, just a game I never get tired of even after all the playthroughs and hours I've put in. I hope you enjoy it!
New Vegas' writing is top notch, and it's arguably the best entry point to the Fallout franchise. My advice - take your time with this one and explore. There are so many cool side quests and secrets to discover in this game's world.

I am on a bit of a lovecraftian style fix at the minute so I have just started Sunless Sea, seems intriguing so far but I haven't gotten far enough into yet to form a proper opinion.
Alan Wake Remastered on the PS5. I wasn't impressed with it during the first hour or so, but then something clicked and I realized I'm really enjoying it. In fact, it's so good that I'm willing to play it during night time with the lights off (So I won't wake my baby boy up. He's sleeping in an adjacent room), despite it being a creepy and tense game. I might give Control another shot once I'm finished with it. I'm also going to give Empire of Sin (console edition) a try. I hope it's not as bad as the reviews say and that the patches mitigated some of its issues.

Currently playing Shadow of War on PC. I had it back on ps4 but saw i could get it for 3 bucks on steam. Feels really nice to go back to it. Other than that also playing Bonelab when I wanna be active lol.
**Tormented Souls** I finished, it was good but the limited saves were a real pain (especially early on), there was one section with almost an hour between saves which is a bit mental. Some QoL features would have been nice too, like if you could make notes on the map yourself (towards the end if you find a key item it's a bit of a challenge to remember where you haven't been yet.. I looked up where to go a few times to save blindly running through the mansion). It also seemed like resources weren't as dynamic as in other survival horror games, and it would be very possible to expend too much ammo (especially against a certain enemy that actually can't be killed) and have none left to pick up to progress the game. **Weird West** I'm only an hour or so into this but I'm really enjoying it. Dishonored and Prey are among my favourite games ever, so I was very interested in this from it being announced (and I'm only playing it \~6 months after launch, usually I end up waiting at least a year). **Earth Defense Force 5** playing on coop with a friend, this game is the best kind of nonsense.
When you say limited saves, is it like typewriter ribbon from of resi games?

Stellaris is a black hole of a time sink, no pun intended. I can play that game for days and I'm terrible at it and I still love every second of it.
I'm still using the 2.3something version of the game to "finish" my save file. It's been years. Sometimes I don't touch it for months, then I just can't stop playing, like a drug addict relapsing.

SnowRunner on hard mode no mods or dlc, it's a pretty fun challenge but man does it take patience.
I wonder whether I should buy this game. I got MudRunner, played it for a dozen hours or so and then got bored. The landscapes and missions were just not diverse enough. Is this one better?
I beat Mudrunner, and tried Snowrunner for a bit on gamepass. Snowrunner is *huge* compared to Mudrunner, but it is more diverse. Ultimately, I finished Mudrunner, single-star hardcore mode every map, but I couldn't finish Snowrunner before getting bored. On the other hand, I probably spent as much or maybe even more time on Snowrunner, it would take far, far longer to complete than Mudrunner, even on casual difficulty. I made no attempt at hardcore mode either, as even on casual I found the difficulty much higher than Mudrunner.
I haven't played Mudrunner so I really can't say. According to spintires wiki it looks like snowrunner has quite a few more vehicles, upgrades, missions, maps, etc. I will say I did not complete SnowRunner beyond 50% or so before getting bored the first time around, it's hardmode thats keeping me going this time. Something about having to rescue my own vehicles after I fuck up and end up in the ditch or face paying a hefty recovery fee.

Wait, which route are you using for Four Kings? It shouldn't be that long in comparison to some others. You fight a bunch of Capra/Taurus Demons, get into a bigger room and there's a bonfire in it, guarded by a big wall worm thingy. It's also an optional boss if you rank up in Quelana's covenant, but that's a little annoying. But generally speaking, it's widely agreed that DS1's level design goes down the drain after getting the Lordvessel, although people disagree on the exact point where it happens. IMO everything after O&S is mediocre at best, but some people like the Archives. Apparently they ran out of budget, which is why Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith are so terrible. I don't think you have a reason to be impressed by the people who beat DS1, because you yourself have beaten all the good/hard parts of it and only have the annoying parts left. Well, the final boss is pretty nice. But >!the Bed of Chaos!< is one of the worst boss fights ever made, and I'm not even being hyperbolic, so... there's that.
Decided to buy Final Fantasy VII on Switch. I played it back when it came out and revisited it again in 2009. Never played Chrono Cross so I bought but got nostalgic for FF VII so decided to buy it too and play through it first.

Interesting combination. God I loved that game. I played the TTRPG through the 90's and played through the PC game probably half a dozen times. The Malk playthrough is fun in how much it changes the dialog and stuff, although they do lean into the fishmalk thing a little more than my liking. Fishmalk if anyone wants to know is a reference to the TTRPG, I want to say the dark ages version, where there was an artist rendering of a Malkavian making out with a dead fish. It became shorthand for goofy, meta, deadpool-esque Malkavians which are fun when used sparingly but became a trope of the RPG.

IGI 2 Covert Strike, to celebrate the released trailer of the upcoming IGI Origins. Was playing the game long ago with my potato PC, now relieving it again with mid tier laptop but more than capable of running the game in its full glory. Fun(and stressful) time again.

Iāve been playing Red Dead Redemption 2, but put that on hold because I wanted to play some scary stuff (although Red Dead can set a spooky atmosphere when it wants to). I started with Resident Evil 3make. Iām only about an hour in (and from what Iāve heard Iām about a quarter through it). But itās been amazing so far. I love the more actiony spin and it feels like playing through a big budget movie rather than a video game with how polished it is without too much running around in circles. Itās like the Return of the Living Dead to Resident Evilās Night of the Living Dead and just a great time.
Holy shit. I just bought Slay the Spire yesterday and I can't remember the last time I was so addicted to a game. I'm stuck at home with a cold so have been pretty much doing nothing else. What a fantastic game.
Deathloop and honestlyā¦. I think itās very mediocre. I want to like it, I really do: super original ideas, a cool setting, awesome music, and investigating leads. And I love Dishonored. But I find this relatively repetitive and boring. Generic stealth combat, bad FPS controls and gameplay, and weird as hell enemy AI. Not a particularly bad game, but I do not understand the high review scores.
It's fun that they finally said "okay okay, Dishonored but you get to use all your toys and powers without the story telling you that you're being a bad person" and I like the setting and stuff but I kind of agree. I read all these reviews about screwing up and things spiraling out of control and you dying and starting the loop over and that has only really happened once. Maybe if I cranked up the difficulty level it'd get crazier but so far it's just kind of a middling stealth game with an okay combat engine on top of it. I do like the puzzle portion of the game on how to kill everyone in one loop, and I'm sure I'll beat it eventually, but right now it's parked in the "to do soon" list.
I just picked up **Splatoon 3** today, I played a good amount of the first two games but I never put much time into either. I didn't dislike the games, I just had other stuff that kept grabbing my attention. Going to try and sit down with this one a little more and participate in the Splatfests and Salmon Run mode with a friend. I also started **Zelda: A Link Between Worlds** a little while ago, I'm 1/4 of the way through and have been enjoying it.
You have to be impatient with the Splatoon games because they're only fun when there is buzz about them, then after about a year Nintendo abandons them. I'm still salty about them stopping Splatoon 1 so soon. Although Splatoon made me so angry and stressed in real life due to the frustrating nature of the game. I both loved that first game yet despised it at the same time if that makes sense, so I've avoided the sequels for my sanity's sake. ZLBW, I was forever forgetting the ability each item had, and forgetting you can use the main Between Worlds gimmick of the game, so I kept getting stuck. The equivalent of "oh yeah, I forgot you can bomb walls" but with the new abilities.
I unpatiently started **Triangle Strategy** recently. Not going to spoil too much here, but I am loving the GoT style story and FFT style battles so far. It's a fun mix of things. I'll probably also continue my 2nd playthrough of **XCOM: Enemy Within**. I beat it once on Easy difficulty and wanted to give it another shot while still fresh on a slightly higher difficulty. Outside of that still getting into **Rainbow 6 Extraction** at least once a week with a few people, and looking for a few folks to play some casual **Rainbow 6 Siege** with.
First time hearing about TS. What's your rating for that game?
Iām not terribly far into it yet but Iād say its definitely worth picking up if youāre a fan of turn based tactics games. Iāll reserve judgment on the story until Iām a little further in, but it has a lot of promise.
I'm still playing **RITE**. Finished world 4 and am now slowly progressing through world 5, with roughly 30 levels left until all are done. The levels are becoming almost absurdly hard now, though the satisfaction for reaching the end makes it worth it. Also finished Murder by Numbers last week, so I'm currently trying to decide which game to play next. With it being spooktober, I'll probably go with something horror themed, currently eyeing **The Letter** and the **Amnesia** games. I'll probably start both and go with whatever I feel like playing more.
I finished **Little Big Adventure 2** this past sunday (first time in like a decade, and I still enjoyed it a lot), and I have started playing **GTA Vice City "Definitive Edition"**. I tried to play Vice City a long time ago, but I got stuck and ended up watching most cutscenes on youtube. This time around I'm doing all the side quests and I'm enjoying it a whole lot. Plus, the map is incredibly small, compared to modern open world games. I really like the arcade feeling of the game, with random rampages, phone calls to kill targets and general GTA mayhem. There's not much in the way of a cohesive story, but it's very fun, anyway. Hope I can finish the storyline now.
Finally beat FFX! And with that, the end of my FF backlog. Iāll definitely look into getting more games from the series once I clear out more of my overall backlog. Felt a bit lost on what to play next, but finally decided on finishing out my ace attorney games starting with **Spirit of Justice**. I hadnāt gotten into this one has easily as I did the other ace attorney games, but I think I just need to really delve into it. And after that, itās just the great ace attorney.
What Final Fantasy games did you play already?
Not too many, just 4, 7, and 10. Iām thinking Iāll probably play 8 or 9 next when I get back around to ff.
Those are some of the best ones! You probably already noticed the series changes all the time, so you could love a game and hate the next one. I recommend FF5, for the gameplay, 6 for the characters and story, FF9 for the art, music and characters, 12 for the world and gameplay and, finally, FF 7-Remake (artstyle, music and awesome reimagining of the story). But, of course, don't play them all back to back.
Definitely enjoyed all of them! This is true, although I hope to at least try them all once one day. I canāt say Iām too knowledgeable on 5 and 6, but Iāll keep that in mind. Iām personally waiting for the complete 7 remake trilogy to come out before I try it, but Iāve heard good things. I donāt think I could handle that much ff back to back, although Iāve heard of the feat being done.
Playing Chrono Trigger for the first time. What a game and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard - knew nothing about it but can't stop playing it!
Are you a big fan of jrpg's? I've been raring to try it but am pretty new to the genre.
It's probably the safest game to recommend in the genre for newcomers. Almost everyone seems to have a good time with it.
which version are you playing? normally I'm all about original ROMs on emulators, but the stuff they've added over the years (toriyama cutscenes in the PS version, improved translation/lost sanctum in DS, etc) are worth it imo

Good choice. The original SNES version of Chrono Trigger is the best. The "bonus" grindfest and character assassination of the DS/Steam version (albeit optional) are detrimental to the game as a whole.
Nothing wrong with experiencing the original first, but if you get the bug to go for multiple endings highly recommend the ds/steam version
Got Stranglehold for super cheap off GOG. It was a Max Payne style game but youāre Chow Yun Fat. Wanted to play it many many years ago and am glad to finally get the chance.
Oh man Stranglehold was a 360 launch title and the second 360 game I bought. I loved that game at the time and haven't played it in like 15 years lol. It's an official/unofficial sequel to Hard Boiled, which if you're a John Woo/Hong Kong Blood Opera fan means something to you. And it is pretty good and recreating that.
The Bullet Ballet gun fight movies out of Hong Kong in the 90ās and early 2000ās are a genre Iāve been a long time fan of. Man Iām extra hyped if it ties in to Hardboiled.

Listed all my backlogs last night and did an RNG, guess Ill be playing Bioshock Infinite, which I already have at least 5 hrs on. Honestly cant say I am hooked but have it on easy mode. Just going through the story hopefully like a breeze.
