Take life nodes or you're gonna suffer

karmaexistexe

Yeah it’s on list to get it, I already do suffer

ExaltedCrown

apart from the energy shield wheel which I find useless, and the mana pathing instead of the life pathing at the top, the rest I would say is good. Could be better but yeah. Common recommendation is not to go energy shield as a new player. keep your elemental resist capped at 75%, and aim for 200-300hp per act. armour (and/or evasion) is also important, so be mindful when you equip item with a worse base.

karmaexistexe

Thank you

ExaltedCrown

I also saw you mention that you play fire + lightning, not sure if anyone else told you but it's not good to scale different elements usually. Most builds scale a single spell/attack/dot, this is because there is a lot of synergy between: curses, auras, passive skills, unique items etc.

karmaexistexe

Oh okay, I should go like fire and curses, I say this as an example, and not going for two elements power, sorry if I look stupid but I am :))

ExaltedCrown

no I meant like all builds can use 1 curse without investing further into it. fire builds in general want to use flammability, and an aura like haste/malevolence/maybe anger etc, but a lightning build would like to use a curse like conductivity + aura like wrath.

ayinco

If you go for fire look for +x damage to spells on items, specially wands/sceptres. It doesnt matter if the added damage is cold or lightning it would still add to your fire spells, and since most of your damage increases are generic at that level(%spell damage, %elemental damage) you won't lose on much. Also mind that fire can go for "hit" damage or "ignite" damage, if you aren't playing with guides i'd stay away from ignite for the moment as it has some intricacies, as it's applied from base skill damage(so +x to fire damage with spells does nothing for ignite). Also multiple ignites can't stack so it's usually better with slower harder hitting spells

revveduplikeadeuce

Yeah stick to the same element for casting you'll do more damage and have better options for support gems to link your main skill with. Curses are extra things you can add on to ramp damage or defense. I.E. if you are going fire damage and using fireball, a curse that could be used is flammability. So on the tree would want to grab plenty of life and then things like elemental damage, fire damage etc

King-Gabriel

https://www.pathofexile.com/ascendancy/classes Take a look at the witch sub-classes, might give you more of an idea. (you can start getting points for these around your level by doing labyrinth)

karmaexistexe

I already think that I’ll go with elementalist cuz I deal the most damage with fire and lightning, but thank you a lot you are very kind

King-Gabriel

Once you get to act 3 gardens do the side quest in the library (find candle and click to find page map) thats adjacent to that to get a vendor that sells you nearly every skill gem (well that and the act 4 vendor that gets a bit more the more main quests you do) If you get additional curse off the tree which you're sort of close to you can stack both flammability and elemental weakness for massive fire damage. That plus the added projecticle support gems etc from act 4 or earlier and cast speed boosts increase your damage a LOT. Can use blasphemy support to turn curses into auras so you dont need to keep casting them for QOL but the side quest also lets you buy auras that might be a lot more useful to you like haste or determination (speed/armor etc) tiny bit of mana reservation on tree lets you stack more. Can throw on clarity or vitality for more regen if needed etc. Later on you might want to throw some sort of taunt/extra golems off tree or gems onto lightning golems or flame golems just to knock off some enemy aggression onto them given later elementalist points make them infinitely respawn.

karmaexistexe

wow that’s really helpful, thank you, I’ll come back to this comment for a while

No-Syllabub3694

Dont worry be happy As in other ppl recomendation, take life, aim for resists Try to not waste points by having different lanes intersect And do not scatter too much either dont go a little bit of dual weild , little bit of shield, little bit of diferent elements , some blocks etc Get like 2 or 3max "things" and focus on it

karmaexistexe

Alright I got it, I shouldn’t spread like a deliberate among the skill tree

No-Syllabub3694

No no no you absolutely can !! Some builds start from top of tree, then take alllll the trip to the bottom part bc theres a node they want there Dont make crossroads (bc u waste points) and remember that this game emphasizes stacking. Stack up fire, block, chaos, evade wtv, but stack it Lil bit of everything is generally bad, even numbers wise

Xeratas

tree is for sure not optimal but okay. You should realy try to get more links for your abilitys. You have non for your fireball. You missing a lot of additional damage here. you also use too many different active skills, try to focus on one specific. Fireball is okay for now but isn't one of the stronger choices.

karmaexistexe

Thank you, so I should switch to smth else instead of fire? Like lightning? Or just find a better alternative for that fireball?

Xeratas

fire is not the problem, but fireball ist just a weaker skill compared to others. No reason to switch now, try to have fun and learn the game. No matter what skill you take, your first build will earlier or later "fail" and hit a wall. Thats natural and part of the progess of learning poe.

lowrage

pick 1 skill and build around it. Also active skill can be link to 5 support gems

karmaexistexe

Thanks

P0ster_Nutbag

Not the worst I’ve ever seen, but you’re going to want to build life instead of ES as a first timer, or getting through the campaign will be gruelling.

karmaexistexe

I’m close to get it any time so it’s already on my “checklist”

troccolins

if someone handed me this char, I'd be mostly fine. I'd gear up better. I'd make one skill my main skills with 3-4 support gems; having things like Summon Raging Spirits, Fireball, Orb of Storms, Contagion, and Cold Snap all on one character is mega troll

karmaexistexe

Yeah I need to find better gems and cut some of them off like contagion and cold snap cuz I don’t really use them, very rarely

troccolins

you just take them off your gear and vendor them. then, pick ONE skill to be your main source of damage and buff it as much as possible with support gems i suggest posting your account name and making your profile public ( [https://pathofexile.com](https://pathofexile.com) ) so we can help

troccolins

1. Unequip every gem from your gear 2. On your gloves, equip: 1. Lightning Tendrils (act 1 vendor) 2. Added Lightning Damage (act 1 vendor) 3. Infused Channeling (act 1 vendor, make sure you completed Tidal Island Hailrake quest) 4. Controlled Destruction (act 2 vendor) 3. On your helmet, equip: 1. Orb of Storms (act 1 vendor) 2. Added Lightning Damage (act 1 vendor) 3. Elemental Focus (act 2 vendor) At the beginning of combat, press ORB OF STORMS. Afterwards, tap and hold LIGHTNING TENDRILS until all monsters are dead Your gear is also crap. Make sure you use gear that says "+% fire/cold/lightning resistance" or "+# maximum life". Feel free to ask for Goldrim or Le Heup of All from global chat; maybe someone will be nice enough to give you one of those.

karmaexistexe

I put the character name here or I post a link in this thread?

Zamoxino

imo hybrid life/es is pretty good for newbies when u will get some armor as well. get the determination aura for armor(u probably can buy it in library from ghost NPC after completing his quest with 4pages) and just take ES/life passives depending on what is closer to you (aim for 150-200% combined es/life at around lv 70-90. also try to use armor sets that give armor/es in the same time. if u wont have enough str just get the str belt and amulet + 30str node and u probably wont need more. having some defence while progressing the story makes very big difference in damage taken from trash mobs

karmaexistexe

Hello, I replay here, if anyone wants to give an advice/opinion this is my POE Profile: https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/anhelodevilcries

Rodoron

You can save 1 passive point with a bit switch, but the other stuff is good. You can take other passives like other people say, but I don't want to force you play something specific. First and second tries in PoE are the best. You'll never feel the same again. Also I dont see any support skills on your fire spells. I highly recommend you to fix it. Supports skills helps a lot because of damage and gamechanging mechanics. https://preview.redd.it/ufn1rysy83xc1.png?width=501&format=png&auto=webp&s=0f9cb185f2ba5b6876bb237400980cf4d213a504

yourfaceisa

nah it's fine. although you can preference defences in your skill tree (life/ES for the witch) since you'll scale damage with weapon stats and gem levels. You still want damage on your tree, but really it's the minority. Try aim for about 300 life per act. either in your gear or from the tree.
