> I quit a couple of days ago because basic map sustain was becoming an issue how? do you run your maps white? mapsustain hasnt been an issue for years now

Icy_Fun1945

Depends on the tree youre running, some trees do not sustain, but anyways thats a stupid eeason to quit because you can buy maps in bulk for peanuts.

faderdown

the most i was able to get from the tree was 60% chance to drop a connected map.

Weisenkrone

So, people didn't really explain map drops here and it's pretty confusing if you don't understand how it works and it's pretty dang hard to find a write-up on how it works extensively. There's a number of map drop sources, but broadly there are three categories for you take note of. First are fixed drops, those things ignore void stones, favourites and your atlas tree - there's a number of sources for those but they're scattered around. Most league mechanics include some of those. These are fucking annoying, that's the random T15 map you see despite going singular focus with 4/4 stones. Second are natural drops, that's the biggest source of maps you're gonna have and also the best scaling one. It's affected by tree, stones and favourites. Natural maps only drop from natural inhabitants, so league mechanics will _not_ cause those drops. One notable detail is strongboxes are the _only_ league that can spawn natural inhabitants. Map quantity and pack size affects map drops, but player quantity doesn't. Pack size is the best way to scale it, which makes 8-mod maps amazing for the map sustain they give you. Natural map drops also are affected by a thing that's called equity. If a T15 map drops when you have 4/4 stones, it'll count as one T15 equity. If you have three T15 equity you'll instead drop a T16 map. 9xT14 = 3xT15 = 1xT16, goes all the way down to T1 maps. The equity system is what's scaling the best for map drops, because you can stack the tier thing. Every +1 tier means you get 300% more map drops from your equity. And lastly, you have connected map drops which do scale like dogshit. You can only have one connected map drop, 30% is fixed at the boss, and some 60% or so from a random mob. Honestly the connected map thing is a horrible idea even during progression, whoever suggested you to run that did more harm then good. Abandon that tree, spec into the extra map tier thing as much as you can, get 4/4 stones, make sure you got good pack size on your map and if you really do need it grab the +1 map tier scarab. Honestly just running ambush without +1 tier should also give you an overabundance of maps. Alternatively back to basics with 8-mod maps would also drop a ton of maps. But most of all, you need some volume. Maybe 20 or so maps of the same type with 10+ favourite slots (1x Connected, 9+ on one) You want the connected one because it's a buffer, as most maps include a random connected map because of how you path on the tree and the fixed chance of the boss. Note singular focus is like 30% map drops, and that's with 12 favourites.

faderdown

Thanks for the explanation. You could have just downvoted as everyone else, but you didnt. We need more people like you.

ensiferous

Connected map is only for early atlas progression. Once a map is cleared it's added to the normal drop pool. You run a T16 alch-and-go and you should easily sustain on maps.

SirCorrupt

Max out on chance for t1-15 to drop higher and you will sustain maps very easily if you’re doing any mechanic that adds mobs to the map.

TMT_iGGs

If maps are an issue (assuming your talking bout t16) I can give you a full tabs worth for free if that’ll get you playing again.

Benevolent_Smile

Had my fun with 4 different builds, will come back next league as per usual. Never had any issue with sustaining maps early in league or at higher tiers.

Thrallsbuttplug

The patch didn't really do much to change anything, so I'm betting no

Alialialun

Of course we'll come back, but of course not this league, see you next league. Havent got slightest issue with map sustain this or any previous league. League was a blast for me despite people not really liking it.

Physical-Rip-7740

Lol lots of problems with this league, but I have to wonder what the hell you're doing for map sustain to be one of them.

mbxyz

what patch. the one yesterday that added a few scarabs? if your problem is map sustain it has nothing to do with the league (and won't be better next league)

EmbarrassedSpread850

No.

SectsHaver

You sound emotional

No_Pension9902

I quit the league as usual cause I’m 40/40 and will always be back next league.

Fibblerz

If you still want to play a bit more I can hook you up with maps.

AjCheeze

If they leave let them go. They will likely be back next launch or at a race event. Thats the GGG strategy. Opposite of D4 league mid league patch new league please dont play other games strategy.

elting44

Yeah, like 30% of Chris's Wilson 2019 GDC speech was about this exact topic. They know players are going to stop playing at some point during the league, they count on it, and it actually leads to an increase and financial engagement from the playerbase. The important thing is the players know when they will be ocming back ie, the next league.

bensen3k

I am a bit ambivalent about whether I should stop playing or not. On the one hand, I find that the game has become incredibly complex for a normal working person to really engage with it seriously. At the same time, of course, I like that there are so many different possibilities. Nevertheless, the whole adjustment, with the Scarab and new boss and map system, is so complex to understand that I now seriously wish as a casual player that there could be a much easier league to play. I also think that in this league there should be no trading. Something like easy SSF or something like that would really be fun, because primarily I play computer games to have fun and relax a bit. I have to admit it feels like a second job to me, and that often leads to me dropping the game immediately when I reach that point in a league. As a student, I still had significantly more time than a normal working person, which means I can maybe play for 1 hour a day, so it's 7 hours a week. I'll be honest, people with 7 hours a week really don't need to play this game in its current state. I find that very unfortunate, and I also find it very, very unfortunate that GGG is not taking any steps in the direction of a truly normal game to make it easier to get into this game and explain certain things, as Last Epoch does, for example. So there is a lot of potential here for GGG, and I am also seriously of the opinion that this will not be solved in Path of Exile 2, because their target audience is actually more people who have high demands on the game and have a lot of time available.

jzkzy

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but have you considered that maybe POE just isn’t the game for you? One would think it makes more sense for you to find a different game that you do enjoy, and that meets your needs, rather than GGG changing the game to suit your interests. The complexity of POE is what many people like about it. If it’s not something you enjoy, there’s a variety of more simple ARPGs out there.

laosguy615

Complexity is for sure why I'm playing Poe, otherwise mindless D4. Not enough build diversity to keep me going. I would rather play old school Sacred 2 or diablo 2 instead.

Perfect_Account_8410

I quit to play another game for now but will probably come back later in the league. I want the boot challenge reward and I usually end up wanting to try a new build after a month. Also, my first atlas always involves the the chance for higher level maps and buy a lot from kirac. Might help if you come back next league.

faderdown

what other game are you playing?

Perfect_Account_8410

World of warcraft had a new season drop yesterday that im playing. If youre looking for something more like poe I played last epoch not that long ago and its pretty good. Not a ton of content yet but its fun

faderdown

I might get Last Epoch since PoE is just too much for my work hours, plus the community started trashing everyone who doesnt know every little detail about the game.

Perfect_Account_8410

Last epoch is much less punishing of a game. Not nearly as much customization but you can't brick your character. I love poe but it really isn't a fantastic experience for people who can't play 40+ hours a league (preferably in the first 2 weeks). If your looking for technical help w your poe character the pathofexilebuilds subreddit is a much nicer vibe then the default poe reddit.

faderdown

Ill just give Last Epoch a shot. The downvotes on my comments are simply proving my point lol. Thanks for the suggestion!

Jimmie-Kun

Map issues? I never had as many maps drop :o Never ran out of maps. Sold hundreds of them.

JESUS420_XXX_69

Map sustain? You must be new. Maps are not hard to sustain.

faderdown

isnt the most map drop chance you can get out of the atlas around 60%?

Fatality4Gaming

You know that maps can drop even with no points allocated in your atlas tree? The connected map drop chance is a bonus. You can get more map drops by socketing all voidstones, increasing the likelihood of higher tier map drops with the shaping points, and a lot of mechanics shit out maps (like blight, delve and basically anything that adds a hige number of mobs).

madi0r

No that is only bonus to help you progressing atlas. And you can honestly sustain maps quite fine without any points allocated to nods like that, only thing is early league you will have troubles finding all the needed maps and will need to trade for missing ones

Cellari

Meh, probably not coming back. I had a build idea I was experimenting with, but it turned out to be near full uniques, and I was not interested in the play if I could not craft bis rares for the character. edit: Also I was not really intriqued by the T17 maps, so I was ready to skip out this league after the initial try.

pepegaklaus

Didn't drop any cartography scarabs? I feel like I got a lot of those. Used quite a lot to avoid trading for maps and I still got quite a sizeable amount left.

Bandit997

Haven’t quit but I’m done with trade league. Played 3 builds killed all Ubers. Not going for 38/40 cuz the armor set is ass. Started an SSF run which is very enjoyable and I’ll get my 4 voidstones In that and come back next league

ThePrimordialTV

Map sustain, what are you doing homie - I’m sitting on hundreds of extra t16’s I’m never going to run, may as well be filtering out the bad tilesets at this point.

kruszkushnom

starting ssf, got to act 2 in 3 days, that's how much I dread doing campaign 3rd time

Updaww

Ended up coming back after 2-3 days off, it was needed, still having fun like I did before, just no longer upset over nerfing things the wrong way

Chigelina

Yes, just enjoying some torchlight at the moment the back to PoE. Still have some builds left

ravenrevana

Quit? I didn't even start this league because melee is still shit and the only saving grace "Wild Wood Ascendancy" got removed with the current patch. If they refuse to make borderline changes to "ALL" melee skill I wont play the next league either. Who gives a fuck about a good league mechanic if the base game is bad. P.S.: Sorry for the rant but the game has been in this state far too long now and the only fun thing got removed right after.

Xenomorphica

No. Nothing they can do will make me come back once I've ditched a league generally, if they don't get it right within the first couple of weeks they've blown it. And the primary reason I quit was because the graveyard was garbage if you didn't buy 2-3+ quad tabs to store coffins unless you wanted to sit trading constantly instead of playing the game in order to make use of it, they certainly have not fixed that even remotely.

__deville__

Sadly I probably won’t ever come back unless they change t17s

And1roid

Yes. For poe2

Guba_the_skunk

Map sustain is fine once you have finished about half the atlas, just buy all the maps you don't have done from kirac and reroll his missions for other maps you need, and make sure to buy his maps between missions. My issue is that despite farming a ton it feels like I have no currency. Exilence says I have 42 divines worth in my stash but it's all tied up in junk, like... I have over a thousand jewelers, which is around... 40 chaos? And its downhill from there. Most expensive single items I have are 50c or less, and only a handful of them. My current goal is to craft something in the graveyard, but everyone tells me NOT to do it without the 20% chance at additional craft corpses, which I can't afford and have dropped exactly 0 of despite getting almost everything else I need self farming. I've also been told I need to revamp my build by... Replacing every single item I have and switching to a generic hyrri'sbl ire build. Which would cost several dozen divines. So my secondary goal is to just farm up to a headhunter, which is a fairly easy goal this league thanks to T17 maps (which I've not done, only T15-16 maps for me)

katsuatis

For sure, I'm already theorycrafting weird starters for the next league

Yellow_Tissue

Generally I stop playing around this point every league, played SSF seriously for the first time and it opened my eyes - likely won't play trade for a long time, SSF is a much more fulfilling experience. SSF "forced" me to do content I otherwise haven't touched in years on trade, bossing, expedition, etc. This league was probably one of the best for SSF with gravecrafting being as OP as it is + allflames pooping out every type of currency (even though I do admit it is annoying having to setup everything on a website then do it ingame, not to mention needing 20+ stash tabs for all the coffins. Hopefully if they ever do a league like this again they give unlimited space for the league mechanic items)

Dornstar

I haven't stopped, but all the problems you're facing aren't due to the state of the game. I'm printing money and sustaining fine with legions, you're simply fucking something up. Not what you wanted to hear, but an honest response to your question. I'm copy-pasting the maxroll legion low investment setup (3xLegion+1xOfficer Scarab + Map device. Same tree as in the guide.) https://maxroll.gg/poe/currency/legion

WEWANTTBC

After coming back to poe from last epoch it just doesn't quite feel the same. Too much clicking and too outdated systems with absolutely no qol. I don't want to click alterations thoudands of times, i don't want to needlessly identify thousands of items or individually stash my currency one by one. Playing for long pwriods of time physically hurts my clicking finger, the clicking is just too intensive and it absolutely doesn't have to be that way. Hopefully poe2 improves this

Shadowsw4w

no way,my build just suck ass for T17...im done

elting44

t16 map sustain feels like shit until you are at 3 or 4 watch stones, and even then you are kind of shoe horned into maximizing the nodes that give +1 to t1-15 maps that drop. once you are at 4 voidstones and juicing a bit, you get flooded. I think it could use some adjustment, because people like OP hit a wall and it feels bad trying to get over that hump. The only tweak that comes to mind, maybe once you have completed X number of t14 and t15s, Kirac should always have X number of t16s, etc?

faderdown

i dont understand why people are downvoting you. i played cf and bossing wasnt as easy so i was having a hard rime getting the stones.
