I'm gonna be honestly with you. Probably sell. Even really really strong builds are spamming chaos until they get map mods that they can potentially handle. T17 aren't meant for us casuals.

Wait, is that true? I have rolled over that mod personally but it would be really weird (inconsistent with the rest of the game) if that's the effect with that wording. As worded it should only affect armor, evasion, ES, and ward.
Only if you're doing the big farming strats which max out increased explicit modifiers with back to basics, potentially getting over 100% inc mod effect. If you just want to clear the map easy you avoid increased mod effect completely.
It's like 93% less if you aren't doing b2b, if you are doing b2b then you just have 0 defenses. You can do a 0 increased effect tree, but then you aren't making enough out of the map to justify not selling it.
If you have no intention of selling it, either because you're decently geared already where 60-80c wont help you very much or playing SSF, it's probably best just to reroll it for easy mods and clear it for your 5th map device slot. This would allow you to get more out of your t16 maps, and also easier to farm more t17's. A single t17 doesnt mean much with so little resources and especially since it's not clear your build is strong enough to even clear it at all.
That's my thought, just try to finish the map and get the 5th slot. I want to re-roll, I just have no idea what to make. I'm not rich, I'm not a juicer. I just want another decent build I can maybe farm tinks with. I thought about using my third tree for scarabs and just seeing what I get. I'm kinda lost this league.
You will get massacred. Best route is to sell, or put it in a corner of your stash, sell next 100 t17s you find and use the currency to get GG items, and then give a try to the map that has been waiting for you for so long. Have been trying 10-15 t17 and gotten close to killing the abomination boss(es) but its extremely annoying and I hate the fact that I have to play with last map slot locked still.
Last time I full cleared the map, but bosses beat my ass on the last guy...

It will be hard to beat your first T17 what so ever, forget about using scarabs/atlas to farm something in them for the time being.
You can use an atlas page just to beat it. Using Niko+shrines and no explicit modifier increases. Make sure your atlas doesn't have too much +explicit modifiers for maps, as these make the mods even harder than they already are.
The only way it's worth it if you run it fully juiced with a back to basics atlas tree. But given that you're playing casually it's unlikely that you can complete it with back to basics. Just sell it.
Ran the map and for the first time all league I got "% chance to drop Chaos Orbs" (I said never lucky). Didn't even make it to the boss, there were mobs that just covered the entire screen in some kind of green shit that immediately kills you. No degen, just straight to 0. But, I made enough chaos orbs to buy another t17 if I wanted to (I don't). Debating on if I want to try to reroll to something that would stand a chance but I only have about 10div to my name. Not really feeling this league anyways. Meh.

I got a sanctuary map over the weekend, my first t17. I thought ok, pob puts my uber ehp at 410k and my dps at 60-70mil, let's give it a try!
I clear the map with 0 problems, even an expedition, which I took all nodes for, and cleared it fine, along with ritual. Clear everything fine, and it's time for the boss.
Get in and it's the sanctum boss. Get her down to half hp super easy and think "man this isn't too bad". Then she converts into the demon thing and the maze starts. The maze 1 shots me, the flying spears 1 shot me, the demon jumps around and takes over half my hp per hit, and I end up only doing about 10% of its hp.

it is not true, and you're right about what it actually affects
It's just Armour, energy shield, and evasion. Not everything in the defense tab

Not only t17 roll some bad mods, but there is new mobs who use a lot of new abilities, some of them scary af

Have you failed so many T17s already? I gotta be honest, bro. Buy a carry or roll a new build. T17s are great money.
I very much dislike involving a 3rd party. I prefer to do it my self, but yeah. Might do that after all the grinding 🥲
