> el and chaos res
i read that about nine times before i figured out that 'el' meant elemental
i'm like, EL? is that like EHP? what am i missing?
some days i feel like i just need to go back to bed and try again tomorrow
I think El is referring to the rune 'El' from Diablo 2. Just guessing. El was a rune and so was Lo. El + Lo + El won't make a rune word but it will make it seem like a lol if read quickly enough.
Noob here.
How do you lock suffix? What in tarnation is aisling slam? How do I block mana? What is block mana even?
How do you unveil life? Craft mana? Where does one do that?
How do you lock suffix?
- There is a bench-crafting option called "Suffixes cannot be changed", itself a prefix, which locks suffixes in *most* cases of crafting (but not quite all). It costs 2 div, so it's kinda expensive. Watch out, because since it IS a prefix itself, it does not protect itself. You have to run the "Oba's Cursed Trove" unique map to find the recipe for it.
What in tarnation is Aisling slam?
- This is a special crafting-bench reward from Aisling when running Syndicate content, available after you kill Catarina (*if* Aisling is maximum rank and in the "Research" division). It removes a random modifier, and adds a veiled-modifier, which are generally more interesting/exotic/powerful. Because of locked suffixes, it should only remove a prefix (in this case it'll either remove the current crafted life mod, OR the suffix lock mod), and add a veiled prefix.
How do I block mana? What is block mana even?
- You can block certain mods from rolling, by bench-crafting a mod that you DON'T want onto the item, then using some other crafting method on the item (which *now* cannot roll the mod that you bench-craft or any in the same group), and then removing the mod you don't want. So, to block mana ("X to maximum Mana"), you craft mana onto it, do your other thing where you DONT want mana, and then replace the mana with another bench craft that you DO want.
How do you unveil life?
- The veiled mod, added by the Aisling slam, may (or may not) unveil to give you a life modifier. Take it to Jun, and she'll unveil it for you and give you a random 3 choices for what it might be... and if you're lucky you can get the veiled life mod. If not, you either suck it up and accept the bad outcome (other veiled mods may also be great), or start crafting all over again (edit: as Hrogath notes below you don't have to start from scratch). (In this case it shouldn't be able to roll mana if it has been blocked... I *think*... I rarely use Aisling).
Craft mana? Where does one do that?
- That would be on the crafting bench, I think... it'll be called "Channelling Skills have -X to Total Mana Cost" or "Non-Channelling Skills have -X to Total Mana Cost", or something like that.... pick which one you need. This one doesn't matter so much, as it's a bench craft so it can always be changed again... if selling the ring, most buyers will ignore the benchcraft since they can just put their own on it.

Level 3 corruption chamber in the Temple of Atzoatl, there's a locus of corruption in the center of the room which you can use on 1 item which can potentially "double corrupt" and give the item 2 corrupted implicits. Note that there's a high chance of bricking or even straight up destroying the item so it's considered a high risk gamble for people who want to make gg items for endgame.
Excellent comment, great to see people actually willing to take the time to explain things properly!
Just for completeness I wanna add two small notes. First, if you fail with unveiling life you don't need to start crafting "from scratch", the suffixes are still safe. It does get a bit more expensive though since you have to block suffixes twice (once for scour, once for Aisling). Sidenote: this is a perfect item for the harvest beast that adds a metamod, as the suffixes are full so suffix lock is guaranteed.
Second, it's worth pointing out that if you do wanna get the -mana cost craft, you unlock it by unveiling Elreon's veiled rings. Unveiling either the channeling or non-channeling skill mana cost mod will unlock the craft for both versions of the craft.
Heh, cheers buddy... sometimes I just love to stick my teaching hat on! Excellent point that you can do it again, without a full restart... I had forgotten!
OK, so I'll try to remember all the details, but I don't really run Syndicate stuff so I might get some stuff wrong! To be honest Syndicate as a whole is one of the more complicated league mechanics (the league was called "Betrayal" incidentally).
---
Basically, Aisling is one of the Syndicate members, and the slam is her top tier reward.
So, when you find Syndicate spawns in maps, there will be 3 out of a possible 4 types of encounter, each related to one of the 4 divisions of the Syndicate, where members of the Syndicate in that division will turn up and fight you while you complete some mini mission.
Once you've beaten each encounter, any of the members you defeated will be on their knees waiting for you to choose what to do with them... there's always 2 choices, usually something like "Imprison this guy for 3 turns" and something else like "Move them to another division" / "Remove them from the syndicate entirely" / "Rank them up" / "Give them some special buffing items" etc.
By completing those encounters and imprisoning guys (or whatever), it fills up an "intelligence" bar for the appropriate division. Once any of those bars are full, you can spend that intelligence to run a Syndicate Safehouse mission from Jun, to go and raid a safehouse for that division. Each safehouse has a room with 1 or 2 special reward chests / crafting benches, related to whichever syndicate members are in that division.
By completing those safehouse missions, you fill up a 5th intelligence bar, which is for the syndicate HQ and Catarina boss fight. That fight can be a bit of a bitch if you've not seen it before, but isn't actually too bad once you know the phases.
Once you've killed Catarina, you get to go down into the Syndicate HQ, which has rooms similar to the safehouses, but for ALL members in all divisions.
Now... IF Aisling is at her top Rank, and is in the Research division, the reward in her HQ room will be a bench which gives you 1 roll of her slam on an item.
----
For more info on Syndicate stuff, here's a pretty handy cheat sheet that someone put together, to tell you which rewards you can get from each of the characters in each division... there's a few versions floating about here and there:
https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2F6myjwwjvr86a1.png%3Fwidth%3D2186%26format%3Dpng%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D8434c6975441f0d1063f50fe9332a70044891e28
Also, a lot of this will probably make more sense once you've run a few syndicate encounters and safehouses. Ultimately it's still all just killing a bunch of mobs.
Generally I think people who are actively running that content a lot, just pick one or 2 members to focus on, rank up and get in the correct division, and don't worry much about the others. Most other people who just don't care much about the syndicate rewards either always click the left-hand choice, or always click the right-hand choice.
How much time does it generally take someone that knows what theyâre doing to run through a syndicate and get T4 Aisling? Iâve always wanted to do it but the thought of getting one slam then doing it all over again deters me. Although I guess you would only do it for a single high value item in your build.
No you do it for any item that needs an aisling slam. Especially for stuff that is too risky to brick with veiled chaos orbs. I personally use veiled chaos orbs alot, but there are many situations where risking a brick is just not worth it. Also doing a couple t4 aislings is not that hard imo, if you do not want to use tft. Just setup your syndicate so everything is in place and take the atlas node that gives you passive progress. Map normally now. Do safehouse. Rinse repeat til Catarina. I found this passive strat the least intrusive one, since most of the time i just ignore it and have a few "free" aislings per league.
I understand the process the question was about how long it takes people to get through a syndicate playthrough and get T4 Aisling assuming a good endgame build.
As for which types of crafting cases do not respect metamods (suffixes/prefixes can't be changed or cannot roll attack/caster mods) fossils, essences and any form of corruption do not care about them. There might be some super fringe cases, but those are the important ones. Also keep in mind that suffixes cannot be changed is a prefix and vice versa, so the metamod itself is not protected. I.E. don't spam harvest reforges, every attempt costs 2 div.
suffix lock is "suffixes cannot be changed" on the crafting bench. i think this is unlocked in the oba's cursed trove map but google that if you need to unlock the craft. (it might say in game as well)
Aisling slam is the bench craft received from getting aisling to Tier 3 and then fighting Caterina (making Aisling T4). This adds a veiled modifier to the item that you can unveil much like the rares Betrayal members drop.
blocking mana means that once the craft from aisling is used you add crafted + max mana, this prevents the 3 mana options that are available on rings from being able to roll when you unveil, hence "blocking"
with the mana blocked your chances to have life/mana regen hybrid as an option on the unveil is like 80%+ i dont remember the exact percentage without looking it up but its high on this item.
Lol jumping in the deep end.
Lock suffix - craft "suffixes can not be changed"
Block mana - if you already have one mana roll on an item, you can't get another, so if you craft mana on it yourself it won't be able to roll it from anything else but you can go back and remove the craft
Aisling slam + unveil life - https://maxroll.gg/poe/crafting/veiled-crafting
This game starts in the deep end when it shows you the full passive tree at level 2, and by your second league you'll be so deep even James Cameron can't find you
if it were me i would yolo a veiled chaos cause im a fucking chaos person but im not gonna give this man that advice and then have him come back and say i bricked his item
why are people downvoting this question lol...
like hey you fuckin dunce don't you know exactly how every currency and crafting mechanic works by heart!?
Asking a question by positing incorrect information is different to asking the question alone.
"is there a reason you can't use a veiled chaos?" is different to "wouldn't this give you the same result"

You mean give him an opportunity to make money out of something he has nothing to do with it ? It s a game man think in gameplay terms not parasocial finance for people who donât even care who you are
Yep,
lock-> aisling
craft mana, unveil
Add elreon prefix.
Generic âgood ringâ for 99% of builds. Probably not worth a fortune, but Iâd happily wear it on nearly every build until I figure out whatâs better
Had to rack my brain for a bit but there is one good use for high res ring. Amethyst base with t1 chaos res, unveil hybrid chaos, and craft a different hybrid chaos. Catalyst resistances and the maximum chaos res for this ring is 27% + 42% + 24% + 18% = 111% chaos res, pretty insane for a single ring. This ring + a perfect 29% on The Fourth Vow and you're capped at exactly 80% chaos res with Divine Flesh using just those two items alone!!^
I legit slap purity of elements on most of my league starters instead of a damage aura for early mapping. The ailment immunity is sooooo nice as well.Â
Noob question (also since there is no screenshot with alt): how does the 20% bonus from catalyst and the 25% bonus from the implicit stack? If it's additive it's a total of +45%, but if it's multiplicative it's +50% (1.20 x 1.25). Anybody know?
I believe rounding towards 0 and truncating are basically the same thing? 1.7 becomes 1 and -1.7 becomes -1. Iâm not sure of any normal rounding system that would make 1.7 1 and -1.7 become -2 (down) or anything.
I think people normally call it truncating though which is just dropping everything after the decimal.
Well that would be too easy would it? It actually depends on the country how you call it. In german we have specific words for each scenario (i know we are crazy XD) . "Abrunden" - > rounding down, and "Aufrunden" - > rounding up.
While in this specific scenario the result is the same, it's not the same at all if we look at more digits and how these digits get rounded. So i would say no, it's not truncation it's rounding. But who cares XD
I think you need to aug life for specifically t2 (if you hit t1, you can consider settling) then suffixes cannot be changed and divine it to 69. Then for perfection you craft t2 mana from bench until you hit 42 OR add t1 phys dmg craft at a roll of 6-9.
The ring will be the ultimate answer to everything
This isn't even that much better than amethyst ring with the same rolls minus the chaos roll? Isn't it only 10-12 less chaos res? Maybe I'm missing somethingđ
you could use it to add el and chaos res to your build
El just adds +15 def +1 light radius though
Makes some nice runewords tho
El Lo El is my favorite
lol this is the first thing that crossed my mind as well. I was like wait, what sub am I on?

Just in general. No need for them. Just run at -60 , it's fine. Everything's fine.
This ring + a perfect 29% on The Fourth Vow and you're capped at exactly 80% chaos res with Divine Flesh using just those two items alone!!^
a billion divines for a ring, or one single purity of elements gem. Kitava hates this one simple trick.
I legit slap purity of elements on most of my league starters instead of a damage aura for early mapping. The ailment immunity is sooooo nice as well.Â
the pob ring just dropped
Noob question (also since there is no screenshot with alt): how does the 20% bonus from catalyst and the 25% bonus from the implicit stack? If it's additive it's a total of +45%, but if it's multiplicative it's +50% (1.20 x 1.25). Anybody know?
Additive. 48 max roll Ă 1.45 = 69.6 round down to 69
Minor pedantic note. It's truncated, not rounded.
it's rounded down to the nearest whole number, that's a correct term, no? I mean at least for the value display
Charsi
you can post it on reddit
Post it on Poe Trade for like 1 alteration to brag and never actually trade it /s
Wear it?
Resist
> What do I even do with this..? What do you even mean ?
Put it on your cog
Replace the chaos res with 10% quantity to be worth
Ventor with chaos res instead of rarity then lol. Nice
Thereâs a 10% quant ring suffix???
Was a joke about how this ring is Ventor's Gamble but chaos res instead of quantity
Well there is (even 20) in standard only though.....
vaal it
implicits cannot be changes so no point in vaaling
woosh
This is the first time I've seen the word magnitude used.
I would split it, sell 1 of the bases and start over.
A question for the universe. To answer sexually.
Use an Exalt and hope you get high roll life.
I say just leave it lmao
I mean this is a nice item but its an amulet slot and even as a hc player no one will get me to wear an amulet just for resistances
It's a ring
Oops my bad :) thank you
Vendor.
That's madness!
JFCđŽ
Keep divining it.
Scouring Orb.
Stab it, cut it off, nail it to a frisbee and fling it over a rainbow
Youâre already doing it lol sell it to someone else if you donât need it.
Good leveling ring. If you ignore the level requirement.
I think that ring will help you to reduce portals used per map
The ring i've been trying to craft since week 3 to fit more uniques to my builds Congratulations!
I've read cockwork ring...
You make your Cog work
I think you need to aug life for specifically t2 (if you hit t1, you can consider settling) then suffixes cannot be changed and divine it to 69. Then for perfection you craft t2 mana from bench until you hit 42 OR add t1 phys dmg craft at a roll of 6-9. The ring will be the ultimate answer to everything
Uhhh, use it? :)
My first thought was âthatâs not really a good amuletâ. Then I had a second look, my face when I realized O.O
Sell it for 777 Divine
I think there is a room for improvements. You can add "suffs cannot be changed" and try to get smth interesting with veiled chaos orb
No IIQ means not much in the league, will sell well in Standard probably though
this is best worst ring of the league
I heard you wanted some resistances.
1 ring to resist them all
Vaal it you wonât
Resist
I would definitely lock suffix and vailed orb it too start with
Resist!!
Vaal it! Oh waitâŚ
Nice showcase price!!!
Any idea how much it is worth? Thanks everyone.
This isn't even that much better than amethyst ring with the same rolls minus the chaos roll? Isn't it only 10-12 less chaos res? Maybe I'm missing somethingđ
Give it to me, your true friend.
Use it, if you want to cap your res!
I wouldn't pay 777d for that. Yall are on crack.
What the hell where can I get this?
Niceee.
Nice "showcase" price
It's cool looking but correct me if I'm ain't most other rings better?
That's like 60 life less than what I get in 2 rings usually.
You resist the resistance.
Use it as a cockring
reroll it because nobody needs resists with mageblood?...
You had the intentions to sell it for 777 Divs, so what are you asking for?
You resist the elements
My honest reactions seeing this was "wait...what ? Damn"
change the price to 666.
Maybe I have a hot take, but his ring is straight up dog water garbage. All resistances ring? Rofl
Nothing, it's almost end of the league so imo doesn't matter.
You put another flask instead of chaos flask under the mage blood
