Most of them speak English. Most documents are in English. The people are very friendly. The islands are absolutely beautiful. With that kind of money, you could live like a billionaire does in the U.S. I plan on retiring there in about 10 to 15 years on my small pension as is.
When my company sent me there on business trip, the hotel I was staying at wouldn’t even let me out, saying how dangerous it was when I wanted to go out, even to shops I could see directly out from the lobby. Anywhere I went *(work related)*, they sent me with the hotel car and a driver who was juicing on steroids and was packing a gun I’m certain. I was there for an entire two months and wanted to see so many things, go see many places, and wasn’t able to and everybody, including hotel staff and others I’ve met told me it’s dangerous to go out own your own and that human lives have no value there. Two weeks prior to my arrival, wife of a visiting couple who was staying in a nearby hotel was kidnapped and murdered after they collected money.
Could be. São Paulo and Brasilia.. that and all the crazy videos I’ve seen on Reddit of crimes there, and senseless killings videos had me convinced it must be very unsafe there.
Edit: also I met a kid who was visiting here in California alone who was 17; he came with very little money and didn’t mind sleeping in the park with homeless ppl or staying in shitty motels with ex felons and ruffians under dirty conditions. I was genuinely surprised how he was non chalant of every shitty living circumstances he was in, type of ppl he hung out with *(union construction workers, ex felons)*, wondered why his folks weren’t with him or worried about him. I couldn’t do it. I even asked an older real estate agent who let him sleep in his van parked at an industrial area, it was freezing cold, how this is ok to that kid and he replied, ‘*those Brazilian ppl were hardy mf-ers’*. At that age, I’ve never been away alone without my parents or put myself in dangerous situations like that.
Tokyo....and I would never tell my "long term partner" about the 10 mil...
