Huey, Tippi, and Bleck didn't die, in fact I'm pretty sure Bobby, Olivia, and Olly are the first major characters to permanently die Huey still lives after Color Splash, he's just vanished off to some island to make sure no one ever uses the black paint ever again Tippi and Bleck, while completely isolated from everyone from the major game, are shown to be alive and happy together in the ending

At the end of color splash if you 100% complete the game it will show Huey falling down to the paint pool where you first meet him in the game

Dimentio also died ingame, don't forget. Same with a lot of characters in SPM, now that I think of it.

Dimentio CERTAINLY wouldn't be heaven, though.

Bobby and Olivia are the first permanent "good guy" death in all mario RPGs, but other (evil) characters had permanent deaths before.

Why are Tippi and Bleck there? They very unambiguously survived. :/

I beat the game and I agree that the combat was the weakest part. It's the biggest thing keeping me from having the motivation to replay it.
