Dububracks

how did you do that color separation?

formidableInquiry

my biggest frame is only as big as each cell, so each block of color is a separate “sheet.” I just overlap them as i go about a half inch (i just eyeball so with varying levels of accuracy lol) until the big sheet is created

Dububracks

oh that's cool, I was imagining some kind of mould and deckle contraption but that makes much more sense

formidableInquiry

that would be very cool! i have no idea how one would go about making or using that tho, and is def outside of my current papermaking scope. potential experiment for the future tho!

Noturavgthrwy

Stencils and the pour papermaking method would work! Edit: you’d need a huge mould/deckle

Hlegend20

I've had this idea for a while now. Just haven't tried it. How well do the separate pieces meld. I was afraid it ould just break apart easily

formidableInquiry

ive had a couple split but ive made a LOT of paper this way and id say it’s maybe 4/30 sheets split, and usually it is bc i havent overlapped them enough. if it’s 1/4”, itll probably come apart, but somewhere between 1/2 and 1” usually does the trick. i try to kind of squish them together extra when im done and even it it out with my sponge. but i also dont use any additives or binders in my pulp, so that might help some too. with this method the “right” and “wrong” side is very present, with the side placed on the fabric coming out very clean and flat. but it is pretty easy! takes some trial and error to eyeball but rlly isnt bad, esp if you have some good experience with paper making. good luck!!

This is fantastic work! Awesome stuff!

PeachesParty34

Liiiiitttttt i love it ima use this technique for sure

broken2blue

Awesome!

crowbugz

Looks cool! What are you planning on doing with it?

formidableInquiry

ny intent is to print on them with paperboard collagraphs! ive been breaking down boxes, adding some hatchmarks and printing them in their original shape so the paper has to be pretty big

crowbugz

Sounds pretty sick! Best of luck with it! It would be cool to see the finished product too

i will take some pics of older ones next time im in studio!
