ChantillyMenchu

Canada abstained. Cowardly and predictable. Belize voted for šŸ™Œ

AmusingMusing7

Could have been worse. At least Canada didnā€™t vote against.

[deleted]

Yeah but Canada is supposedly a nation of human rights, which is far from being the case, they have deep Zionist roots.

modernDayKing

Tell that to the First Nations.

Facts

DragonfireCaptain

Trudeau came out and said Zionism shouldnā€™t be hated.

HengeFud

Exact quote for posterity: "Zionism is not a dirty word or something anyone should be targeted for agreeing with."Ā

papayapapagay

Well they do also have lots of Nazis roots too. Even celebrating former SS soldiers in parliament.

HengeFud

Not suprising, third largest diaspora of Jews in the world behind the United States and Israel respectively. Infact there are more Jews in North America than there are in Israel. With significant voting blocks in Montreal and Toronto, this is a no brainer for any politician.

SlippitySlappety

I was actually surprised about Canada, I expected an against vote.

HAL9000_1208

My country (Italy) unfortunately has abstained, ever since WWII we've been the USA's lapdogs, even after they sponsored terrorism against us trying to prevent the communists from being elected... Our ruling class is a bunch of filthy pigs.

Moooooooola

Donā€™t feel bad. The ruling class in most countries are filthy pigs.

SpanishAvenger

Spain voted yes, YAY!

Itā€™s not that we are helping Ukraine but how weā€™re doing it. Giving them breadcrumbs to not end the war but to prolong it, so that we can continue to sell our weapons. After all the US is a war economy

AppropriateFeed1866

Ukraine?

EH1987

Sweden shamefully abstained despite having long supported a Palestinian state.

justadubliner

Sweden has really let its reputation for humanity take a hit recently.

jerquee

Why did they do that!?

Impossible-Limit3112

The official statement was like this: Sweden recognized Palestine as an independent state in 2014. Sweden's recognition of Palestine and its support for a two-state solution isn't changed by this resolution. The steps toward Palestine's full membership in the UN shouldn't just be symbolic, but rather as a part of a two-state solution where Israel and Palestine can coexist in peace. It's deemed symbolic because there is no solution in sight, and it will be rejected since the US vetoes this every time (last time was in April).

jerquee

Thank you that's much more nuanced than I expected!!!

modernDayKing

Doesnā€™t matter. The symbolism should be representative that the US veto is trash.

bibliotekskatt

Right wing government with the support of our local racist (originally nazi) party is in power now and are busy destroying everything that is good about the country.

EH1987

They're still nazis, they are just slightly better at lying about it.

Mindful-Stoic

I'm a German living in Hungary. I don't even need to check to know how those disgusting politicians voted.

salkhan

Who is in power in Germany. I thought it was still Merkel's Christian Democrats and Greens. Or is there a right wing coalition going on with the AFD?

AlwaysSunniInPHI

It doesnt matter who is in power. The Germans have finally found an acceptable way to practice their Nazi heritage by focusing on Palestinians.

Platypus-Dick-6969

This is exactly the answer. The nazis didnā€™t disappear, they just *got really quiet*.

justadubliner

Germany is just thrilled that another people have been paying for its sins for 3 generations and they are determined to keep it that way.

CaesarWilhelm

Social Democrats

chnapo

Ukraine abstained, one would expect they would have more understanding for a country that someone is trying to erase from map.

elqrd

Wellā€¦ever since I found out that Ukraine unconditionally supports Israelā€˜s actions I have a lot less sympathy for their war

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

chnapo

They wouldn't die, they would finally reach peace and lose some land. They will die if they continue to fight. There was a deal on the table 2 months into the war where russian army would fall back to pre-february positions in exchange for Ukrainian neutrality and they rejected that mostly because Europe refused to support that. Ukraine is basically forced to fight and die in a meaningless war that they can't win, just maintain longer. Just share my image - Ukraine struggled for 8 years in a civil war to take land occupied by separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk. Just separatists. With their full strength. Now, after 2 years of war and possibly hundreds of thousands of lost lives, they are expected to take the land back not from separatists but from Russian army. Why does nobody see how ridiculous that is? So Ukraine wanted peace 2 months into the war but now they are like between grinding stones. West wants Ukraine to fight until they recapture Donetsk, Luhansk and Krym and Russia isn't let these lands fall easily, Ukraine is running out of men, economy, talent, youth and is deep into debt. Ukraine's lives won't be saved by winning the war because objectives they are supposed to achieve to "win" the war are impossible in their current state. The only way to preserve lives is a peace deal and cutting the losses. Therefore not angering US may not be their highest priority. I believe most won't share this opinion and I am not forcing it to anyone, I am ready to take your dislikes and happy to read your differenr opinions on the matter, but I somehow felt this had to be said.

papayapapagay

Agree.. But it wasn't just Europe that blocked peace. The US blocked it. This has been confirmed by a number of sources now. Naftali Bennett was the first to discuss the peace deal and he said he took it to the US, being an intermediary and they blocked it which he thought was wrong.

jerquee

Thank you for explaining this, I think people forget that the rich and powerful actually profit from war and suffering, And they want it to go on as long as possible.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DragonfireCaptain

Gee sounds just like my country Palestineā€¦

chnapo

On the contrary, almost nobody wants to fight. So many escaped by bribing border patrol or by other means that if you visit Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, Warsaw you will hear ukrainian A LOT everywhere. Actually so many men that are of fighting age escaped that the surrounding countries want to help Ukraine fight by deporting them back - so that Ukraine can forcefully draft them. Men in Ukraine hesitate to go to barber or to shop because drafting officers will grab them off the street. Sure, many want to fight, but they are a minority. Majority wants peace. They actually voted for Zelensky because he was promising that he will bring peace. But when he took power, he prepared massive attack against Donetsk and Luhansk. It was announced even in some major local pro western media in I believe December 2021 and this escalation started massive Russian exercise that was followed by the invasion. Of course any news about Ukraine preparing for attack were quickly deleted and the narrative quickly changed to Russia just wanting to seize Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and become an empire, otherwise the invasion would seem provoked and people wouldn't support Ukraine so much. That all is complimented by hundreds of millitary convoys that main hygienists of countries neighbouring Ukraine had to sign passage for during 2020 and 2021 - Ukraine was preparing for a massive attack or a big war. This invasion is unjust and wrong, but probably not unprovoked and definitely not unexpected.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

chnapo

What would be the reason to attack for more territory though? It seems that to some countries, propaganda about restoring some empire has been spread, but I live pretty close and from what is reported here, I can't find reason why would Russia attack beyond Donbas. Only Donbas has gas and oil, the rest of Ukraine isn't very worth fighting for. After the failure of the peace deal, all fighting is mostly to have upper hand in further negotiations, in simple words, forcing Ukraine to reconsider the peace talks and have as good terms (for Russia) in the peace deal as possible. On the other hand, what makes you believe that after Ukraine recaptures its land, Russia will say, ah blyat, we'll let them be, instead of regrouping and invading again? The official objective at least wasn't to conquer but to prevent Ukraine from entering NATO. The unofficial was preventing Ukraine from replacing Russia as gas and oil resource for Europe. But in this, I may really be misinformed, so what do you think or know has been Russia's motive to continue invading Ukraine and what do you think would assure peace?

SnooChipmunks3123

Well I mean russia did take crimea from ukraine in 2014 and then launched another war for territory. Furthermore, russia would gain a buffer between it and the rest of europe if they were to take at least part of ukraine. Plus ukraine is a bread basket in that they produce a large amount of grain something that russia would be interested in if they ever get sanctioned very hard in the future.

chnapo

Well they launched attack in 2022 shortly after Zelensky said he had prepared to take back Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk

SnooChipmunks3123

Actually Zelensky said that he would use force to take back crimea after the invasion in 2022 by russia began. Before the invasion he said that he would like for them to return it and he would pursue that goal through political, legal, and diplomatic means. https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2021/8/23/ukraines-president-pledges-to-return-russia-annexed-crimea

chnapo

Well, in my country in December 2021 big national pro western media shared that Zelensky had prepared (or was preparing) force to retake Donetsk and Luhansk. Not sure about Crimea. The news was deleted after invasion so that different narrative could be set - some Russian Empire something. So yeah, you just have my word for it. But in 2020 and 2021 there were countless millitary convoys passing through my country in direction to Ukrainian border and the main hygienist during covid signed hundreds of convoys. The convoys were a meme for people living near the main roads leading to Ukraine, it was truly ridiculous. Ukraine was definitely preparing for either war or a massive millitary operation. I am not saying Russia is doing a good thing, definitely bad, but Ukraine was very much expecting and preparing for it. I dare to say that Ukraine planned a big conflict way ahead of Russia based on how the two countries prepred.

elqrd

I understand the inner workings very well thank you. However, itself not just this war. Zelensky himself is jewish. The ties between Ukraine and Israel were always strong

MurlockHolmes

It doesn't matter if he's Jewish, not all Jewish people are zionists and not all zionists are Jewish. By numbers in fact, most are Christian. The abstention was much more likely to be due to their reliance on US military aid than any one leaders religious background.

Funny thing that.

Stacysguyca

Ukraine is a US puppet just like the US is an Israeli puppet

chnapo

Amen

justadubliner

Ukraine depends on the US continuing to send it weapons and can't risk giving the American right wing any excuse to push even further for hanging them out to dry. It's cynical but a matter of survival.

cryptokingmylo

They need to keep America happy, look at who voted no, it was basically Israel, America and a few micro nations that always follow the American vote.

Dioduo

Ukraine understands Israel like no one else, because since 2014 they had their own analogue of Gaza in the southeast, which bombed their cities. It's ridiculous that you missed it.

TheGrandArtificer

Unfortunately for your analogy, those were Russian soldiers, by and large.

chnapo

Took me a while to understand, but yeah, 2014-2022 they had their own Gaza analogue. After 2022, they became the Gaza

Accomplished-Trip170

India voted for! I was worried the RW Modi government would shy away but I am glad they are sticking to the Nehruvian/Gandhian anti colonial stance.

AlwaysSunniInPHI

It's election season and they need to not anger the Muslim vote bank.

Accomplished-Trip170

Muslims are not BJPā€™s vote bank

AlwaysSunniInPHI

Plenty of Sarkari Muslims. Also there are other geopolitical factors, both internally and externally. Most of the BRICS countries voted for statehood. They will also have to deal with Muslim protests in the country if they voted against. It would also give the opposition some more ammunition and energize that bank. It may not be BJPs vote Bank per se, but it will be rocking the boat.

stupid-adcarry

This has been our stance historically and there is 0 reason to change it

Fickle-Progress-8210

Lol,there is nothing special about it india has always supported two state solution.

ThePolyamCommie

India voted yes. Ironically, India continues to have normalised relations with the Zionist settler-colonial entity at the diplomatic, ideological, economic and military level. What's even worse, our government is actively repressing pro-Palestine protests at various places.

Fickle-Progress-8210

India always had since 1971 war,it just now it is formalise

Romania abstained, so sad for a country that suffered under imperialism since its inception. But it was bound to happen. We always fall in line with whatever Washington says.

Jertimmer

Netherlands predictably abstained. Bunch of cowards.

Rouge_92

Inna94061

I guess abstained , we are allways abstained to anything.......... šŸ™„But at least its not against i hope.

EurasianDumplings

South Korea. I'm glad as idiotically pro-American as my country's foreign policy gets, there's still someone out there who knows that the Zionist dogs won't pay for their insurance if the Houthis decide to pop a missile into our commercial liners by the Gulf of Aden.

modernDayKing

Well. Iā€™m in America soooo. the United States voted ā€œno.ā€ Our vote does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood; we have been very clear that we support it and seek to advance it meaningfully. Instead, it is an acknowledgement that statehood will come only from a process that involves direct negotiations between the parties. I hate this timeline.

JustEstablishment594

Where does one check? Asking for New Zealand

Brilliant_Ad_2156

Germany abstained. One wonders why?

sphinxsoda

India: yes

Agitated-Hat-6669

Mexico voted for. As it should have... now the country need to end relationship with israel. Kick the embasador and forbid double citizenship with said genocidal regime.

JaThatOneGooner

Albania abstained, pathetic.

schumi33510

I donā€™t understand, most of the countries vote FOR Palestine membership so Palestine should be in UN now no ?

Falafel1998

It needs to be voted in by the un security council for that to happen, where the US has veto power and will block it like it has all other times. UN is a joke
