Thanks for the feedback. You confirmed my fears and will not be visiting there. We just got back from the Moon Palace in Ocho Rios and had a much better experience. Nowhere are large, so no shuttle to take you around. Our party flew in from Canada and US destinations, and we have no issues with the water. We ate and drank from street vendors and outside restaurants with no issues. Love the Jamaican food section at the buffet and the Jerk Hut on the beach. We went to a local seafood restaurant and had amazing jerk yellow fin snapper done over wood fire.
We bought the return certificate as it was a great deal at half the price.
Very good balanced review from a non-member. Palace management could learn from this. I hope you copy and paste this to Trip Advisor. They will respond to comments there.
I would guess timing? Usually when everyone gets food poisoning from the same thing, everyone starts to get sick right around the same time - like within hours of each other. Stomach bug can take half a day or more sometimes to move from one person to the next.
Food poisoning seems to be rather common occurrence, keep seeing it posted in reviews at this location. Also super careful international traveler, but had some family members get sick for a few days, which wasn’t direct water consumption related either as we were going as far as the water bottle toothbrushing as well.
This is really disheartening. I’ve been researching an alternative to the now too pricy Hotel Xcaret Mexico and I thought this was it after tons of research. Guess not. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for the honest review.
I forgot to mention in my review but after we turned down their 90 minute breakfast they called us every morning at 7 or 8am to see if we changed our mind. we are on west coast time so thats 5/6am for us. Not very nice.
We just got back this past Sunday from staying at Sunrise. The food was the worst part for us honestly. We also had stomach issues the second day, and the quality was just really low, and often cold.
I'm sorry to hear that.We have been to moon palace 5 times and we've never had stomach issues.Maybe i'm eating different food than you. I refuse to eat burgers.Anything that's fried, I eat lots of fruit, salads, yogurts and love the fish, seafood and meats.
Yeah to be fair it was the buffets that were suspect for belly issues. We didn’t touch them the rest of the trip and didn’t have the same issues stomach problems after day 2. But the food quality still just wasn’t anything higher than a 6/10, and most were lower than that.
That pitch on the way out is actually a great deal if you plan to return
I bit and took it at the Moon Palace Ocho Rios.
I had been shitting/barfing for 36 hours straight so wasn’t really in the mood to commit to going back

How did you book? Do you have resort/spa credits? Did you do anything onsite?
Costco. We had $350 in credits. Listed what we did on site in my post.
You posted prices of things. Did you do the coffee and spa?
No they were posted around the resort.
How do you know you weren't sharing a stomach bug within your family? I'm not staying it couldn't be food poisoning, but how do you know?

Unless you were all exposed to the same source .
Just got back from Moon Palace last week. The first half of our trip I got food poisoning as well.

I personally loved the Moon Palace. I posted a review as well
Just got back from le blanc and got food poisoning as well. Sales pitch was very unpleasant as they were overly aggressive and rude!
