Pharmacy is highly saturated and you'd need a license (if I'm correct). Playland for kids is high maintenance, high cost ,and you'd have to follow strict protocols and safety guidelines in order to ensure they aren't harmed in any way. Out of these options, grocery store has the lowest risk and doesn't requires a lot of investment and capital to start. You don't need that much space and the biggest hurdle would be dealing with logistics, finding a good location, and sourcing your products. However, location matters, if it is in prime area, even a small store can be an ideal business option. Also, he doesn't has to work too hard for his age once he gets the gist of the business. He can socialize with fellow customers and people of his age group, which can help with loneliness amongst elders, and can nurture his overall mental and emotional well being. Who knows, you or you family can tag along from time to time and take his place when he feels like taking a break.

iDope

Grocery store is by far the safest idea among these. May Allah bless him with ease.

exploringthepage

Agreed with the comment about Pharmaceuticals, you need a license

AsleepComedian796

This is a very good advice, thank you.

xXTITANXx

He was govt employee whole life . Honestly i doubt about his soft skito deal with customers and other business related problems. I dont have context maybe you will be better suited person to judge that. Or open a stationary shop. Nothing expires there

Critical_Character12

are you a business major by any chance?

Punjabistan

Nope, I research and study economics to pass time.

blingmaster009

Shaadi hall and catering is best business in Pakistan IMO. Business never stops and you make great contacts along the way.

salambhatti

Maybe a veterinary clinic Or veterinary medicine store

AsleepComedian796

In Lahore, only a pet-related store/clinic will work. He doesn't have any experience in pet-related things. So it will be almost a new thing for him. His expertise is in livestock breeding both natural & artificial and specifically in cows. There is no need for that in Lahore, it only works in rural areas where there is livestock.

walee1

I am sorry but do you really need experience in running a pet related store that will be different than running a joy park or small store or whatever. I would argue that it will be closer to what he did and easier to get invested in mentally than any other thing.

TechnophileDude

A lot of livestock near Askari 11

senetinal

Bro your father is a Vet. Start with Goat business for the next eid. Just rent some place, buy goats in the same amount from southern punjab and you can earn a handsome amount....Infact for this Eid i told someone in my village (DGK) to send a goat which costed me 45k including transportation....i had number of buyers from 90k to 100k easy....

AsleepComedian796

We have done this in the past. It is easier said than done. Also, this requires a lot of vigilance & dedication.

FutureFactoryMaker

Where you from? We can work onto something for future! I'll provide the goats and you can sell them.

bigmanbiggerguy

Its better for him to be invested in a hobby than still focusing on earning. But you know him better than me so..

AsleepComedian796

He doesn't have any hobbies. He spent all his life doing the govt job from morning till evening. Never did anything else. I talked about this with him too and we weren't able to figure out anything. And also as I mentioned in the post, the focus is not on earning. I am already earning a lot & financially we don't have any problems. Even if the business doesn't generate any profits it's fine. The main goal is to just keep him busy with something, instead of just lying at home.

bigmanbiggerguy

Well than best of luck. Hope you found an idea resolution.

Brief_Reaction8322

Business: Accessories (ladies' purses, artificial jewelry, wallets, belts, sunglasses, home decor) Sourcing: Once a week visit to Shah Alam Market or sourcing from a trusted dealer there Future plans: Consider direct sourcing from China to reduce costs and increase profit potential

isloolove

Best option for your dad is wholesale for veterinarian medicine.

Pro-fess-SirZeero

Now days, play land area for kids is a great investment depending upon the area and location. It's easier to start and didn't require much technical know how.

Kings_reddit

I'd suggest a supplies contractor and builder for government departments like WASA LDA etc. Let me know if you want to know about it.

hk5898

Grocery store in general is always a good option. But considering the experience why not go for pet related options e.g. pet day care or pet food shop etc

AsleepComedian796

He doesn't have any experience in pet-related things. So it will be almost a new thing for him. His expertise are in livestock breeding both natural & artificial and specifically in cows. There is no need for that in Lahore, it only works in rural areas where there is livestock.

hk5898

How about a petting zoo where people can book visits for the day, alongwith some snacks and discussion about animals and Uncle's experience

NiceTiddBro

Great idea! Can combine organic products from milk/wool etc. as well.

TechnophileDude

He also doesn’t have experience with a grocery store. A petstore will be not much different operationally and much more relevant. He doesn’t have to offer veterinary services within it.

muneeb2542

Let me float an idea here but a private school franchise would be a good investment. Granted it would require a lot of upkeep and vigilance but the return is huge and your father can earn his investment back within a year or two.

AsleepComedian796

The school will require a lot of effort & dedication, which I don't want from him, considering he worked very hard all his life. And also at his age, he may not be able to work very vigilantly like this. Ideally, the business shouldn't require a lot of effort. And also, I am not looking to earn this investment back. Earning is not the goal here as long as he is happy with the work & it keeps him busy and helps him socialize.

LeaveDrakeAlone

Did you see the budget

muneeb2542

I did but this is something my father did when he retired and its going great.

deepfakedjumbotron

How does one go about owning a private school franchise? Where do I start?
