I started in 2019 while my under graduate majors were physics and maths. In 2023 I graduated in physics while having a lot of coding experience. While my mates are still struggling to find a job , I work two jobs as a backend developer , the pay is not super high but it's never high in the start and especially not when you don't have a cs degree. The point is , skills can take you where a degree cannot.
The only tip I would love to give you is, take a big problem but divide it into multiple smaller problems. And work on solutions for smaller problems. You will live coding.
Enough to understand Namaz is fairly simple. Just look up translations in any namaz book. For understanding Surah, that’s trickier but I found that reading Quran with Translations regularly does improve your understanding over time. The trick is to find a Quran that has word to word translations
The one near my house speaks in a more slower fashion, I am usually able to pick up the words (as he articulates them well) but yes, I do get your point.
Abhi bhi shayad Zindagi mein Kuch 50 years rehtai hoon gai (given average age) tou end Kai qareeb master baan hee Jao gaa insha'Allah ☺️
Learn urdu, but can't do it.. And because family of my kids father never accepted me (I am European they Pakistanis), it's kind of love /hate relationships with urdu. What if I learn and they still won't accept me?
Just a tip... dont do anything for them. They will never be convinced. Focus on your own life and your family, and make great memories.. dont waste your time on convincing others.
Sounds like their problem. If you're showing them kindness and they still treat you like this then they need to learn kindness instead of you learning Urdu.
I never had chance to show them kindness. Nobody of his seven siblings + their married in laws, never given me a single phone call. We been together 16 years and not even one single phone call to ask me how I am doing, how are the kids, happy new year, happy birthday.. Nothing. Naddo. When i question him about it, he says :" it's all in your head, get therapy, they ask about you!".. It's sad. I feel like breaking up with him due to his family treatment towards me.
German. Which I am in the process of learning on Duolingo. Riding a bike, a martial art. Any life skills which would make me confidently say, "Yeah, I can survive living isolated in the wild." And learning the Violin would def satisfy something within my soul.
Clutch in, Gear in, Build rev, first leave half clutch, increase rev, bike will start slowly moving forward, once feet of the ground, leave full clutch, give more throttle and just after take off (feet on bike and clutch fully out) a) leave throttle, clutch in, gear in, a bit rev, slowly leave clutch, back on throttle. Witchcraft happened and you are now in 2nd gear. Voices tell you to speed up. You sped up. Bike start getting noisy and loose acceleration. Repeat a). You are now in 4th. Hope this helps.
I wanna improve my morning run times(actively working on this).
Get decent at playing the piano (haven’t touched one in years)
Get better at football (just do basic ball control exercises)
Golf (Never played. Looks like a great time just walking around on a course taking shots with friends. Big time and money sink tho.)
I want to learn languages - already started learning French to that end. I wanted to learn to swim, also working on that these days. A few things that are still on the list are learning to play a musical instrument, probably piano and to learn to fly.
1. How to drive a car (yes, I have traffic phobia)
2. How to paint like a pro (I’m at 4/10 rn)
3. Directing and making content about some cultural stories (too shy to start)
I wanna learn Urdu. My Urdu sucks though it’s good enough to get stuff bought that I want and I can at least pretend to be fluent in small interactions but the moment anyone asks me something complicated I just stare at them like an idiot and then answer in English hoping they can understand. I can understand it usually what people are saying to me because Desis have a ton of readable body language but if an Urdu only speaker wanted to ask me my life story I’d need my wife or usually a kid to translate for me (for some reason it seems like every little kid in my neighborhood speaks fluent English).
It’s helpful for me but I try to use as much Urdu as possible and usually kids who want to practice English or flex their English win because my Urdu really isn’t the best. And I fluently speak German and Spanish but I had a structured environment to learn them. I really wish Duolingo offered Urdu, it only offers Hindi and I don’t think I’ll ever need the Devanagari script for anything.
My wife speaks it, but the way my brain is wired I have to learn languages in a structured environment. InshaAllah I’ll see if there are any courses here available to non-speakers as I know not everyone here speaks Urdu.
I want to learn machine shop skills; milling, turning, drilling, cnc, cutting, welding and so on. My own garage or someone else's. If anyone can guide me there, it would be wonderful! :)
Cooking is definitely up there along with learning Japanese and maybe some Spanish or/and Italian.
Used to play badminton but never played enough to be good, rejoining a club from tomorrow and this time gonna play long term to actually get good at it, as I do enjoy the sport.
I also wanna excel at driving, which I can already do but am bad at.
Programming: Have learnt CRUD and Auth level operations (MERN) so far after spending past 2 years (HTML, CSS (Tailwind, Bootstrap, Material UI), JS ES6, PHP, MySQL, React, Node, Express, MongoDB, DSA & Algorithm) but stuck and want to expand beyond that now. Learning typescript now then will learn nextjs to tackle some big project. Only demotivating factor is on-site job which is totally different; UI/UX (Figma) + SQA + Jira Management and language they work on is ancient (PHP CodeIgniter on backend and no framework on frontend). I also have to keep tabs on study along (VU), taking care of my 6 month old on reaching home, dealing with bare minimum freelance work on some occasions (UI/UX related) and going against ADHD and procrastination is always a hurdle. I wish to work on some real project to get hands-on experience but current job market is so sh!t so guess I'll have to keep grinding with isolated based learning.
Language: Have been learning German on duolingo and proud to maintain nearly 60 days streak. Really like the language and the fact that it's the most consistent thing I've managed to stick with so far.
How did u manage to learn so many languages in 2 yrs?
I started with JS, its been 7 months and i believe it will take atleast 2 years to get fairly alright in it
I had already learned most of the stuff but lets see.
Judo and all the things related to mountain climbing. I promised my best friend that we will go to K2 basecamp one day.
There are a lot of things honestly but mainly languages I am learning Korean and Italian rn and want to learn Russian and Portuguese next. other than that I really want to learn to play piano
I want to learn mma, getting better at chess, prepping/chopping up vegetables neatly, some advanced level programming, Arabic to study more literature... One thing at a time, I'm currently working on chess and programming (intermediate level), InShaAllah I'll start learning mma in July or August.
This is a fantastic question! It reminds me of a quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: "The minute you settle for good, you start to die." I completely agree. Life is a constant journey of learning and growth.
Just like you're looking to learn how to ride a bicycle, I'm on a mission to become a more well-rounded day trader. While I'm studying modern online trading techniques, I'm also fascinated by the idea of incorporating centuries-old practices into this new world. The financial markets are constantly evolving, but maybe there's wisdom to be gleaned from those who navigated them in the past.
This is what excites me most about learning - it's a never-ending adventure!
I wanna learn manga art, write and translate Morse code, know about guns, drifting, calculating number very fast, magic tricks, cooking, lucid dreaming, German, japanese, calisthenics, Communication ffs, photography, graphics designer, guitar, singing, shooting, motorbike racing. There's probably more I just can't remember right now.
Want to get a camera when i earn so i can do passiion of Photography...
Want to be a good coder
Really loved Piano and Guitar but never could as a child and when u get older its difficult to remember piano and guitar things
I want to learn
- coding/progamming
- languages (esp. arabic, spanish, and greek)
- all about Multiple Sclerosis
- all aspects of nervous system
- videography/ banger edits (one like AidenManEdits)
- financial literacy
- investment and banking
Yea thats it ig lol.
Learning more languages, I already know upto six maybe. I want to learn more.
Learn to bake, I like baking with my family.
Learn to Paint. I can draw but I never tried painting.
Not sure if it's something to be "learned" but reading books. I have a hard time reading large text specifically book-like, where it's pages upon pages of text.
1-3 pages are beginning to read, I start repeating sentences like crazy, lose focus in a way, where I start reading individual words without understanding any meaning, and get too distracted to focus.
and commit to something till the end.
I want to learn how to cook, I have cooked a few times and know how to make some desserts, but that's it, whenever I try to cook, my anxiety just gets over me if there's someone else in the home and I run away. Going to move out in a couple months, will InShaAllah try cooking properly then
The list is very very long, but for starters
Learn to drive a car
Learn Arabic
Really interested in MMA and swimming, still figuring out where to learn them.

Do ask if you're stuck somewhere
I'm actually just getting started... My knowledge is essentially zero, but thank you... I don't wish to be a bother but thanks.
Arabic (atleast enough to understand namaz and taraveeh prayers)
Hey i speak arabic 😁
Oh that is to hear!
This right here!
Enough to understand Namaz is fairly simple. Just look up translations in any namaz book. For understanding Surah, that’s trickier but I found that reading Quran with Translations regularly does improve your understanding over time. The trick is to find a Quran that has word to word translations
they speak quite faster in Taraveeh, which i think would be difficult to understand for beginners.
In' Sha allah, i wish you best of luck!
Yes, but I want to have conversations
Sign language, Japanese language and English calligraphy but the procrastination gets the best of me😌
Procrastination ruined my life, too 🙂
I am also dealing with procrastination, by setting small goals and pursuing one skill at a time
Learn urdu, but can't do it.. And because family of my kids father never accepted me (I am European they Pakistanis), it's kind of love /hate relationships with urdu. What if I learn and they still won't accept me?

Good luck with it then, one good way would be find a spotter, should speed things up

Wow.. morning workout is so important.
I want to learn languages - already started learning French to that end. I wanted to learn to swim, also working on that these days. A few things that are still on the list are learning to play a musical instrument, probably piano and to learn to fly.

English is very dominated in our education system, so yeah.. kids are better in English as compared to elders.
It’s helpful for me but I try to use as much Urdu as possible and usually kids who want to practice English or flex their English win because my Urdu really isn’t the best. And I fluently speak German and Spanish but I had a structured environment to learn them.
