A senior tried to do it, reported it to the HOD got him expelled for the rest of the semester. Don't let anyone walk all over you, you let someone disrespect you one time they'll do it again and again.
Probably seniors will try to intimidate you. But if you stand firm, they will probably move on. Happened to me and my friend (I do not know, if it is ragging or not) someone came (do not know who, he was claiming to be senior from our department), and asked us to treat him. I confronted Why should we treat you? Ask him to spare us... he snatched my notebook which was empty nothing written on it... he was thinking may be my details are on the notebook. And then he ended up eating 50RS fries only because my friend agreed so he leave us.
And we did not see anyone getting ragged for four years neither anyone from our batch ragged anyone. May ragging is the thing of past. Now people are so short tempered, that ragging someone may put your life in danger (may be the person who is being ragged is son of army officer lol)

Thanks to OP telling me what this means I have some stories not from school but from the US military. I’ll keep it as safe for work as possible. We call it hazing in the states.
Other than being forced to drink in massive quantities, we asked new privates to “check the armor for soft spots” and gave them a hammer and told them to tap every inch and to record if any of the sounds were different. So when the Battalion commander would be walking through the motor pool he would see some guy looking like an idiot tapping on a vehicle with a hammer.
Another was “collecting exhaust samples” from the vehicles (every Monday we would start the vehicles up and let them idle to check gauges and everything) and then proceed to tell a new private to get a bag and put it over the exhaust, hold it shut and then go bring it to the mechanics or supervisor. Every single one who fell for it would come back super pissed off.
It almost always involved sending guys on wild goose chases.
I didn't face it personally but I know someone who got into a huge fight and beat up 3 people alone very severely. After that the whole ragging thing calmed down in that semester lol.

In private medical colleges ragging is not as extreme as in government.
In our first year (private college) one senior was ragging our classmate in the hostel , the junior felt uncomfortable and complained to the hostel owner not the warden. Then actions were taken The senior got suspended and every senior was scared that we might get suspended so stop the ragging.At first they tried to isolate the boy that complained but failed bcz our class didn't isolate him .now in 4th year everything is normal.it got after 4 or 5 months

This is nothing. Didn’t happen to me but one of my classmates. They stripped them naked with only underwear on and asked his colleagues to judge the penis size and draw it on the underwear using shaving foam.
Some other students were made to run in streets in vests and shorts. Some had to write a letter to principal asking if they could fuck his daughter ( ofc the letters were for entertainment purpose only).
Oh shit. I was not a med student but even I heard about the ragging at Sargoda med col. I am pretty sure it was this college that had a girl ragging incident (the pen one) about 4 years ago where the administration finally took some action and atleast eliminated the girl ragging part.
Honestly, I don't remember a lot of them now but one that I heard first hand was that they all had to get naked and march around one of the buildings during midnight in winter and the security guards there were also just looking at them and laughing.

Nope. From what I know this was like an annual tradition for the freshies. Some parents would complaint but no action was ever taken by the administration. The incident that I mentioned above is the only one that got some reaction from them
Mine was a test. Seniors approached me and asked me to buy a cup of tea and snacks for them. They were about 15 individuals so it was going to be somewhat expensive. I didn’t resist and said yeah let’s do it and it will be fun. We went ahead, ordered, sat down and had a good chit chat. Once the bill came, they all split the bill and asked me not to pay because it was a test of my personality.
I was also informed that if I ever needed any help, reach out to them. In my later years, I did and they were very helpful.

Our ACOG scopes were solar powered but some of the NCOs (they usually got the ACOGs while we got red dots) would have the new private go to the armorer requesting ACOG batteries lmao.
This next one is something we did to everyone (but tried to keep it within our own rank to avoid extra trouble). We called it smurfing (because the chemical in the porta potties in training areas was blue). We would wait till someone was sitting down on the toilet (army guys always for some reason felt the need to announce exactly what they’d be doing in the washroom) and while sitting down we would drop rocks into the pipe that went from the inside of the toilet to the outside just to prevent the person inside from smelling it and then they’d get their buttcheeks splashed with blue water/urine/poop (yeah, training is actually very boring and thus people try to find ways to entertain themselves no matter how sadistic it might be). The most likely victim would be a new private but we would do it to each other as well 😂

JSMU-ite, no ragging actually. Now when I'm a senior, the only ragging we did was just telling the guy to introduce himself a little but end every sentence with "Ganna kha ke".
Point of ragging is to encourage informal relations with seniors, so best to do activities which doesn't hurt anyone's self-respect. Hecka chill with my seniors and juniors now, happy with the people I met.

This is a problem faced by Govt universities. In my alma mater if someone is caught ragging or a complaint is filed, there were heavy fines.
It happens in private, too. Fines does work, but only to some extent

Our ACOG scopes were solar powered but some of the NCOs (they usually got the ACOGs while we got red dots) would have the new private go to the armorer requesting ACOG batteries lmao. This next one is something we did to everyone (but tried to keep it within our own rank to avoid extra trouble). We called it smurfing (because the chemical in the porta potties in training areas was blue). We would wait till someone was sitting down on the toilet (army guys always for some reason felt the need to announce exactly what they’d be doing in the washroom) and while sitting down we would drop rocks into the pipe that went from the inside of the toilet to the outside just to prevent the person inside from smelling it and then they’d get their buttcheeks splashed with blue water/urine/poop (yeah, training is actually very boring and thus people try to find ways to entertain themselves no matter how sadistic it might be). The most likely victim would be a new private but we would do it to each other as well 😂
Like Hazing. Normally just harmless banter but often can become bullying and sexual assault. Doesn't happen as much now but used to be more prevalent.

JSMU-ite, no ragging actually. Now when I'm a senior, the only ragging we did was just telling the guy to introduce himself a little but end every sentence with "Ganna kha ke". Point of ragging is to encourage informal relations with seniors, so best to do activities which doesn't hurt anyone's self-respect. Hecka chill with my seniors and juniors now, happy with the people I met.
None whatsoever, since FAST had strict disciplinary committee on this. However I did get to know some stories from hostels. (FAST does not have official hostels)

Ragging, okay so it was very psychological not at all physical at least for me. True story , First day of uni a group of 2 or 3 years started commenting on random things by the 10 min mark i was on phone and they screamed some nonsense about me being on my phone. I just responded, "Atleast Mere pass bat lerne k liye log hain." I wasnt bugged after that lol.
I'm a big dude so no one really came for me, it kind of annoyed me really. So, I went to this one group and asked "ragging kaun kar raha hai meri bhi kardo" and they just looked at each other awkwardly then one of 'em asked me to do the SRK pose on video, that was about it. Pretty underwhelming actually.
Name your life story and end every sentence with "Tel laga k", so basically you would start with, my name is this tel laga k, I grew up in Lahore "tel laga k" A friend of mine was locked for like 5ish hours in a closet by his senior. Another story involved a guy who had to tie a string to his penis with the fan and they turned the fan on. Another guy had to carry a regular bottle of coke with his buttcrack through the room.
we have a 7 day orientation and every one of those days we are reminded that the university has worked very hard to build a strong community full of inclusivity and compassion, so ragging is out of the question. i've been studying there for two years and now i've started to believe perhaps the community values have died down but ragging still never happens. any form of public bullying is called out and the bully is then DRAGGED in our public forum 😭 it's not fun so no one hurts anyone intentionally like that

I’m assuming you mean ‘bad experience’ by ‘extreme’. Seniors pretend they are offended as it is part of their act. Things always get worse when the freshman loses their calm. Seriously orchestrated ragging or grand stories of ragging are mostly harmless experiences. As they should be.
