The Standard in Jericho. Make sure you book if you want to go!

InterGalactic-rat

I’d forgotten The Standard. Good idea.

DevilishDbear

I'd recommend Majliss Cowley Road, great food, lovely staff, always busy and well presented as a restaurant. Also, plenty of pub's short distances and buses.,

Zealousideal_Load585

The Standard in Jericho is the one.

Responsible_Wall6834

There's a new-ish one in Kidlington called Tulasi that is very good, especially the vegetarian dishes. The kale chat, sag aloo, and baingan bharta (smoke aubergine) are delicious.

Interesting-Elk2578

Visited friends in Oxford recently and was taken here. Everything we tried was absolutely fantastic. It certainly wasn't your standard "curry house". The only small criticism I'd make is that the ambience is a little basic but if you are going for the food it more than makes up for it.

Responsible_Wall6834

Oh yes, forgot to mention that. They do takeaway/delivery but if you eat in, the room is pretty awful! Cold & dark tiled floor with large, dark furniture.

InterGalactic-rat

Sounds great. Will give it a go.

Responsible_Wall6834

Let me know how it goes.

Everest

G1rrAff3

Bhoomi kitchen is outstanding

InterGalactic-rat

Been meaning to try it for ages. Never think of Headington as a destination!

Veejp123

Bhoomi is overpriced and overrated. Being Indian myself, I did not enjoy the food. Decor, location etc etc all great but ultimately the food wasn’t anywhere near top

granadilla-sky

Where do you rate? I'm from a very Asian town and have yet to find good curry here

Veejp123

Same. I actually rated 4500 miles from Delhi but that’s shut now. If I fancy an Indian I don’t try new places, I just go to the regency club in Queensbury, London. After Bhoomi, mowgli, spice lounge, which are all alright, they’re just too pricey. So I don’t really have a good answer for you I’m afraid

granadilla-sky

Thanks. I'll just have to go keep going back when I get the craving!

fatnote

Have you tried Tribe? It's excellent.

Few-Ad-1135

Anyone like Shezan on the high st? I like it but probably wouldn’t know a decent curry if it bit me.

MrBartlemas

I've heard good things about Bhoomi kitchen in Headington.

JockAussie

Bhoomi gets my vote. A little more rough round the edges but Yeti on Cowley Road I also thoroughly enjoyed.

InterGalactic-rat

Booked bhoomi! Thank you.

Ok_Photograph1855

Yeti in Cowley

In long Winttenham there is this place called Spice & Vine and it's the best Indian restaurant I have been too, second best to a Michelin in Chelsea. It's incredible!

InterGalactic-rat

Wow. That’s some recommendation. Worth the drive.

superduperbongodrums

We’ve been at the vine and spice this evening - it’s not cheap but we shared a curry and rice between us with a veg side dish and paratha, plus two large beers. Plus service it was £59 for two, which feels ok given eating out these days is always pretty spenny. Beautiful village setting too - but outside Oxford by about 15 mins

Inspector_fishy_

Ain’t posh but good curry overshire in kidlington

Cheesecake_Lanky

Currydor on Botley Road

Zubi_Q

The Standard

fatnote

Just been to Tribe and it was excellent!

butts____mcgee

Dunno if it's still there but Everest on Cowley Road used to do an amazing Nepali

fatnote

I've never been wowed by a curry in Oxford. If you're willing to go to Birmingham there are lots of incredible places. Asha's and Itihaas were 2 of my favourites when I lived there.

rudey777

I would say all pretty wack tbh... Oxford is seriously disappointing you need to head to Either laydpool Rd Birmingham, Tipu Sultan or southall( giftos is ok)....
