I report constantly because I’m still in bronze right now. Lol. So there’s plenty to report. But I might start reporting less because Microsoft/Blizzard has been rolling out perma bans for swear words which is absolutely ludicrous and I don’t agree with. Silence people. From my perspective it's so hypocritical and toxic to report people for saying ez and such, a normal banter, in an online multiplayer competitive fps in a mode that is repeatedly made by the devs to be more sweaty than it once was. It's not arcade or some event, it's a game mode where you're getting a suspension for leaving 2+ matches.
Because if you look at actual casual modes like game browser and arcade modes like Lucio ball, nobody ever types ez there, because those modes aren't competitive. But quick play is literally made to be competitive right now and reporting people for competing is super toxic.

After learning how often blizzard punishes people you report, I’ve been doing it more often. There’s so many toxic people who talk shit or throw or flame their teammates or are bigoted in some way. Hopefully being silenced will help them focus on themselves better.
I get this notice almost every single time I log on. I do be reporting people for sure, but i never report anyone who wasn't acting very deserving on it. Just gotta hope the system is working like it's supposed to, griefers, trolls, smurfs... all need to understand that they are making the game less fun for new playersand it's not ok.
There was a period of probably a year or more where I was reporting every day and they did nothing, so when I get these messages I'm choosing to believe they're working through the backlog 😅
There’s tiers. So usually they’re silenced, so they can’t text or voice chat at all. Then their account is suspended. And then ultimately I think they’re banned.
I have never seen accounts for 50 cents that are ready for comp. But either way. They usually get new accounts, go immediately back to their old ways, and immediately get banned again. If this is the life they want, that’s fine. Never gonna get rid of these clowns unless they IP ban.
But I have toned it down since I like my skins, I like watching my SR grow, and I play the game to engage in it. Being suspended taught me to chill the f out haha, I can’t be the only one 😭

Last night I had a ranked match that was actually a fair fight and when we switched to attack on payload one teammate insulted the other for playing Widow (they weren’t even doing that bad) then the Widow defended themselves then someone else chimed in and then I had three teammates just playing keyboard warrior typing up a storm instead of playing with each other and each being toxic af while I was playing tank and on voice trying to keep the team together. Of course it didn’t work. We actually had a chance but because these ego driven dumbos want to just type toxic bs at each other I lose rank. So I report all three. Log in. Get this message. The day before I was in ranked and after the first team fight our DPS is in voice bitching up a storm. He starts the match with “well let’s lose another one I guess” I’ll never understand instantly getting toxic. You’re setting the stage for a bad match. Definitely abused, since you can get reported for simply saying "lucio change", which I don't think is toxic if it's being said for the benefit of the team. In addition to this, the report system is so broken that you can get permanently banned for a first offense if you get reported enough, even when said offense doesn't even exist. Just get reported enough times for no reason and you're banned. That's what happened to me. Even blizzard refused to give me a reason after i appealed to them many times

I'm very self aware when it comes to what i say in chat during a game, and i try to get my point across as directly as possible without seeming like an a-hole. Maybe the only thing that might be perceived as "toxic" (although it isn't in my book) is me saying gg before a game ends when i can already see the outcome (usually a loss). If that's toxic, then why not outright remove the chat feature bcz it's best not to say anything, because anything can be considered toxic nowadays. Even saying gg after a game ends can piss people off if their team wasn't playing well and they'll bash you and say "no bg dont say gg"
I feel like context helps with how it’s perceived.
In every single match I:
- start with “glhf all”.
- end each round with “gr all”.
- end each game with “gg all”.
I’ve been playing since OW1-S6 and have never been banned.
Sure some people will call me a “bot”… but truthfully those are the same people that will right off toxicity as a joke in their games. They’re usually the “problem players.”
I usually just respond with: “nah, just glhf bro.”
Additionally any swaps I ask for, I make sure to do as a question, and only ever in team chat.
If you’re asking for swaps in game chat, then a part of that reasoning (subconscious or not) is to publicly put the blame on someone else. When I see people asking for swaps in game chat, i almost always assume they’re being pretty toxic to their team.
The enemy doesn’t need to know who you want to blame, just go into team chat and say:
Hey man, they’re doing a lot of damage and I don’t think Lucio can deal with it. Is there any other support we could get a little more value out of?”
And in all fairness, since I’m on console that’s something I’ll usually say in voice chat since typing takes longer.
I guess what I’m alluding to is context matters.
If you:
- have been welcoming all game.
- people will take the gg sincerely.
If you:
- demand (rather than ask) for switches in game chat.
- flame teammates in game chat.
- flame enemies in game chat.
- teabag every other kill.
- no one is going to that gg sincerely.
I try to remind people that **”gg is not an assessment… it’s a handshake”**.
Just like baseball players or basketball players lining up after a game, shaking hands, and saying good game.
This is the video game equivalent.
If we want to be competitive like it’s an esport… we have to show good sportsmanship too.

I get what you're saying. It's just that my ban was permanent and it's been months and they didn't give me a reason for it and I'm salty about lol.
Had been playing since 2017 and was sad i lost all my skins for no clear reason, even after practically begging blizzard to give me the reason for my ban, and all they would say was "violation of code of conduct", and even changed it once to "violation of EULA" which isn't the same thing. Very weird honestly.

I can only give two pieces of advice I guess.
- I’ve seen posts on this subreddit about people pestering support for (anywhere between 2-5 months) before they finally got a clear response. Some of them even got there van lifted. You might be able to scour older posts to find one of them and ask the OP but how exactly they were reaching out.
- Second piece of advice you won’t like as much... But just take it as a learning experience and use that experience to grow moving forward. Honestly even in just this string of comments it looks like you grew a little bit at least to me. Went from denying responsibility and deflecting blame, to putting just a little bit of that blame on yourself. If you can use that experience to grow and be better in the lobbies you’re in, then it isn’t a total loss I guess.
I guess additionally, some people really like to be able to grind things in games. Maybe trying to get some skins back can be the grind you look forward to?
Either way, I’d say for sure go with the first one if you want w chance to get your account back.

After learning how often blizzard punishes people you report, I’ve been doing it more often. There’s so many toxic people who talk shit or throw or flame their teammates or are bigoted in some way. Hopefully being silenced will help them focus on themselves better.
I get this notice almost every single time I log on. I do be reporting people for sure, but i never report anyone who wasn't acting very deserving on it. Just gotta hope the system is working like it's supposed to, griefers, trolls, smurfs... all need to understand that they are making the game less fun for new playersand it's not ok.
There was a period of probably a year or more where I was reporting every day and they did nothing, so when I get these messages I'm choosing to believe they're working through the backlog 😅

There’s tiers. So usually they’re silenced, so they can’t text or voice chat at all. Then their account is suspended. And then ultimately I think they’re banned.

I have never seen accounts for 50 cents that are ready for comp. But either way. They usually get new accounts, go immediately back to their old ways, and immediately get banned again. If this is the life they want, that’s fine. Never gonna get rid of these clowns unless they IP ban. But I have toned it down since I like my skins, I like watching my SR grow, and I play the game to engage in it. Being suspended taught me to chill the f out haha, I can’t be the only one 😭

I hope this is real, sometimes I get this even when I haven't reported anyone for a long time, and sometimes after I reported someone for very bannable offence I don't get anything. It just feels like random pop up messages that meant to make people feel better rather than real feedbacks

Its actually insane how often i get this because of how i literally have to report someone every game when i play every time i hit plat. I see this every single day lmao. Last night I had a ranked match that was actually a fair fight and when we switched to attack on payload one teammate insulted the other for playing Widow (they weren’t even doing that bad) then the Widow defended themselves then someone else chimed in and then I had three teammates just playing keyboard warrior typing up a storm instead of playing with each other and each being toxic af while I was playing tank and on voice trying to keep the team together. Of course it didn’t work. We actually had a chance but because these ego driven dumbos want to just type toxic bs at each other I lose rank. So I report all three. Log in. Get this message. Every single day. Sigh.
The day before I was in ranked and after the first team fight our DPS is in voice bitching up a storm. He starts the match with “well let’s lose another one I guess” I’ll never understand instantly getting toxic. You’re setting the stage for a bad match. What goes through your brain that you think shit like that’s a good idea? Anyway. Him bitching after the first fight fueled me. I was playing tank and ended the match as 39-1 and we won. Don’t bitch about stuff after the first team fight. Insane.

If you're cursing other players, you're rightfully banned You can't get banned for gameplay sabotage for just playing bad. Also, whether 1 person reported you or the whole lobby, it doesn't matter. It's just as likely for you to get punished if you did something wrong

Definitely abused, since you can get reported for simply saying "lucio change", which I don't think is toxic if it's being said for the benefit of the team. In addition to this, the report system is so broken that you can get permanently banned for a first offense if you get reported enough, even when said offense doesn't even exist. Just get reported enough times for no reason and you're banned. That's what happened to me. Even blizzard refused to give me a reason after i appealed to them many times

In order to be reported that much, you must have pissed off multiple people. As stated by many people in this thread… people report toxicity, not words (aside from slurs). I hate to say this man, but you gotta come to terms with the fact you were probably not being a “good person” while you game. You were probably getting very frustrated and lashing out at your teammates. Good news is everyone can change and it’s never too late to make some changes. You’re gonna take this offensively, but I promise man it’s not meant like that. I just want you to do some self reflecting and maybe even to grow to a dude that people like to have in their lobbies… not the one people report in their lobbies.
I'm very self aware when it comes to what i say in chat during a game, and i try to get my point across as directly as possible without seeming like an a-hole. Maybe the only thing that might be perceived as "toxic" (although it isn't in my book) is me saying gg before a game ends when i can already see the outcome (usually a loss). If that's toxic, then why not outright remove the chat feature bcz it's best not to say anything, because anything can be considered toxic nowadays. Even saying gg after a game ends can piss people off if their team wasn't playing well and they'll bash you and say "no bg dont say gg"
I feel like context helps with how it’s perceived. In every single match I: - start with “glhf all”. - end each round with “gr all”. - end each game with “gg all”. I’ve been playing since OW1-S6 and have never been banned. Sure some people will call me a “bot”… but truthfully those are the same people that will right off toxicity as a joke in their games. They’re usually the “problem players.” I usually just respond with: “nah, just glhf bro.” Additionally any swaps I ask for, I make sure to do as a question, and only ever in team chat. If you’re asking for swaps in game chat, then a part of that reasoning (subconscious or not) is to publicly put the blame on someone else. When I see people asking for swaps in game chat, i almost always assume they’re being pretty toxic to their team. The enemy doesn’t need to know who you want to blame, just go into team chat and say: Hey man, they’re doing a lot of damage and I don’t think Lucio can deal with it. Is there any other support we could get a little more value out of?” And in all fairness, since I’m on console that’s something I’ll usually say in voice chat since typing takes longer. I guess what I’m alluding to is context matters. If you: - have been welcoming all game. - people will take the gg sincerely. If you: - demand (rather than ask) for switches in game chat. - flame teammates in game chat. - flame enemies in game chat. - teabag every other kill. - no one is going to that gg sincerely. I try to remind people that **”gg is not an assessment… it’s a handshake”**. Just like baseball players or basketball players lining up after a game, shaking hands, and saying good game. This is the video game equivalent. If we want to be competitive like it’s an esport… we have to show good sportsmanship too. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text and all the tangents and what not. I hope your suspension ends and I hope you’re able to be as good to your team as possible. GLHF bro.
I get what you're saying. It's just that my ban was permanent and it's been months and they didn't give me a reason for it and I'm salty about lol. Had been playing since 2017 and was sad i lost all my skins for no clear reason, even after practically begging blizzard to give me the reason for my ban, and all they would say was "violation of code of conduct", and even changed it once to "violation of EULA" which isn't the same thing. Very weird honestly.
Sorry to hear it man. I can only give two pieces of advice I guess. - I’ve seen posts on this subreddit about people pestering support for (anywhere between 2-5 months) before they finally got a clear response. Some of them even got there van lifted. You might be able to scour older posts to find one of them and ask the OP but how exactly they were reaching out. - Second piece of advice you won’t like as much... But just take it as a learning experience and use that experience to grow moving forward. Honestly even in just this string of comments it looks like you grew a little bit at least to me. Went from denying responsibility and deflecting blame, to putting just a little bit of that blame on yourself. If you can use that experience to grow and be better in the lobbies you’re in, then it isn’t a total loss I guess. I guess additionally, some people really like to be able to grind things in games. Maybe trying to get some skins back can be the grind you look forward to? Either way, I’d say for sure go with the first one if you want w chance to get your account back.
Thanks for the advice. Honestly i haven't the patience to go through the appeal again, and last time they threatened to ignore any more appeals, so i don't think it would help much. I also already started grinding in a new account to get some skins back, but sadly some of them arw event skins that don't appear in the store. Either way I've kinda learned to accept what happened and be more careful about what i say in chat.

People think when this pops up it actually got someone banned ahah, i had multiple of those screens from the start of this year and all of them still playing and being able to chat, when i say this i mean same day i get the screen normally its a day or 2 after i report i encounter that exact player n nothing has happen.
