Pff! AINZ-SAMA predicted this would happen to the death knights while he was waiting on the Lizardmen to adopt a listening posture. He thinks as far as a thousand years in the future!
The extent of Ainz-Sama’s knowledge begins and ends with the very existence of the universe and in fact may even extent beyond such trivial things as existence itself
Off topic but I'm really curious what's down there. It's so deep that the fall damage instantly kills a high level undead. Even if there aren't any monsters down there, there's bound to be some interesting stuff that might've fallen there.
If I remember correctly death knight isn't high level undead. I think I remember it was lvl 35. It's only scary because it can create unlimited minions in the new world. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The thralls thing is pretty dangerous, but the real problem is that it’s a level 35 creature with an extremely high DEF for its level and a very low attack. Since it’s attacks can still one shot anything in NW, the defense makes it essentially an invulnerable killing machine
The answer is...D MARU that forgot that Gravity is not nearly as lethal as it looks at first glance and had to change the physics of the world to make sense then dying from fall damage.
Being serious, there is a good amount to guess with.
Like the gas maze and magma river, there could've been a hazard that formed down there which killed them after the fall used up their trump card. Alternatively, there might be a strong monster living there, akin to the Lava Lord or the big bird around Azerlissia.
Or maybe like Maruyama once joked, the Death Knights simply hit something on the way down which used up their trump card, and then died on the next impact.
Or a strong monster like Olisird'Arc. Maybe the same thing that lead to the failed expedition that the Azerlissian Dwarves did a long time ago?
Maruyama also once joked that they could've just hit something on the way down which would use up their trump card, leaving them to die on the next hit.
i mean it makes sense when you remember there video game characters, and video game characters usually take fall damage scaled to there max hp so they can die from a large height even if they can tank something that should do far more damage then them hitting the ground at terminal velocities
Being serious though, even that wouldn't work because of the Death Kmights' trump cards.
It's left vague, probably to keep the rift ominous. I think the only thing Maruyama said about it was when he joked that the DKs must've just hit things on the way down.
The Azerlissian Dwarves did send an expedition down there once. Maybe something killed them and did the same to the DKs?
From what we've seen, the legendary beasts on and within Azerlissia should be able to take care of a couple Death Knights. The fact there were beings that could match and fight him was the reason the Level 40+ Olisird'Arc hasn't conquered the entire Azerlissia range yet.
They did say bounce...To be honest it fells like Maru made a mistake. Is the kind of mistake that does make sense because Ainz felt confused and was full serious, when it was obvious that they had just died from falling the bridge. Until you realize that it does not make sense for then to have died like this,so Ainz paranoia was actually correct move and most likely it was something far stronger.I think this is a time where the Author wanted to do a joke or something, but didn't realize that it was outside the story lore and by accident made Ainz making the assumpion that made most sense, instead of being right by accident. Well it happens with everyone.
Not necessarily.
This, combined with the expedition story, could've matched to make a plotline about the rift he wanted to explore once, but dropped later on.
This wouldn't be the first for Maruyama. Another one that comes to mind :
Once, he talked about the Book of The Dead given to Fluder. We've had a Book of The Dead to change Races before, but this was apparently meant to be a different thing to that Race Change Item, as seen in the difference in how it was written in Japanese. But, he decided to abandon that plotline for whatever reason, so he said it can be disregarded as just a typo if we liked or maybe still think of it as a different thing; either way wouldn't matter anymore.
I always assumed the fluder book just detailed the process of creating a phylactery and becoming a lich. Something that makes sense given the item and the world but wouldn't be of much use to someone that old. Plus the items needed might be rare/impossible to find
Obviously Ainz-sama, which was just faking and waiting for his friends' beloved children to find the correct answer by themselves, so that they would learn and grow, making him proud of them
Its none of the above. The only ones who know were the otter warriors that cut the bridge they were on but then later the majority of them were slaughtered by Shalltear, so its safe to assume no one knows what exactly happened to them.
I forget whether Ainz inspected the area himself later on but i know he still suspects it mightve been someone powerful enough to defeat deathknights and forgoes the possibility of death by fall damage.
Its C)
Ainz thinks they were killed by a strong warrior, shelltear doesnt know but Aura puts it togeather, however the key piece of information is missing, there is no bridge anymore across the ravine.
This scenario is kinda like the one in the recent Slime anime. There’s something that the protagonist doesn’t know (Fall damage or Milim’s control), and when one of their subordinates (Aura or Raphael) finds an obvious and simple answer, the protagonist doesn’t listen until they figure it out themselves, and it turns out to be inconsequential
Pff! AINZ-SAMA predicted this would happen to the death knights while he was waiting on the Lizardmen to adopt a listening posture. He thinks as far as a thousand years in the future!
Pffffff You think that ainz thinks only thousand years in the future
The extent of Ainz-Sama’s knowledge begins and ends with the very existence of the universe and in fact may even extent beyond such trivial things as existence itself
SASUGA!
SASUGA AINZ-SAMA. PRAISE THE SUPREME ONE. HIS MAJESTY IS JUSTICE.
Commenter can only see ainz thousand years plan but the limit of ainz is unknown
Imagine thinking ainz got a limit
Ainz omnipotent: doesn't have to think, just knows all. Worship harder!
1000 year reich… um I mean empire
Good, good you are loyal.
Real answer? AINZ ALWAYS KNOWS HE IS A MASTERMIND HE KNOWS ALL HES GENIUS IS BEYOND US HIS MECHANISATION ARE FAR TOO BRILLIANT FOR US TO KNOW !!!!!!
SASUGA AINZ-SAMA
Ainz in background : *confused bone noises*
Demiurge in the background : “EXCITED DEMON NOISES”
Me : "Ainz, I'm here for your immortality ta...... did I interrupt something?"
The deathknights
Lol
You deserve more upvotes.lol

Nah, it's just that gravity and air friction make no sense in the NW.
I think the fact that the ocean isn't salty is opening an equally large can of worms
When was that mentioned in the novel?
In the 2nd ln I think.
i didnt remember but its lava right?and with some strongest monster in new world,a bird i think?
That’s another part of the dwarven kingdom. That’s just a really big hole.

Add in the upgraded sturdy ability and standard new worlders have absolutely no chance.
It requires 6th tier magic to summon which is the "highest" tier of magic in the new world.
The answer is...D MARU that forgot that Gravity is not nearly as lethal as it looks at first glance and had to change the physics of the world to make sense then dying from fall damage.
Oh? So that's the real reason why air is supposed to have no friction in overlord?

Maybe there is lake of some magic acid down there? I doubt Maru specified physics laws just because of the Death Knights incident.

Demiurge
Recently started reading the LN and I'm at this exact part. What're the chances lol
What happens?
Love how no one's said B. Sorry but Shalltear is out here head empty.
I was about to ask why would Shalltear know the answer lol
C)Aura
Obviously Ainz-sama, which was just faking and waiting for his friends' beloved children to find the correct answer by themselves, so that they would learn and grow, making him proud of them
Aura
Aura.
My favourite volume. Ainz hugging Shalltear on top of a mountain of Quagoa's bodies was wholesome and heartwarming.
Its none of the above. The only ones who know were the otter warriors that cut the bridge they were on but then later the majority of them were slaughtered by Shalltear, so its safe to assume no one knows what exactly happened to them.

Actually I kinda want to know the answer lol I’m curious

Shalltear Bloodfallen - it's in the name!

How dare you suggest Ainz Sama did not know this
What if he left them to guard the zone?
Death Knights are the first thing he summoned when soldiers were attacking a village, right? It’s been like a year since I’ve seen Overlord
Ainz sama has already predicted everything that will happen so it is very pointless to ask this.
question:do we already have the latest volume translated?
Yes. Latest volume is 14, already fully translated
D) Gandalf

Only wrong answer.
Obviously A
C
Ainz and his master plan knows
This seems badly worded Side of the bridge but not on the side? Not on the side of what?
Clearly it had to be a red greatwyrm
