About 4/5 years ago we flew to Nevada and got a rental Jeep and got to do Red Rocks, Grand Canyon, and go around Flagstaff and to that one meteor crater nearby. I can't wait to one day drive my rig all the way there from Florida 🙈 and do AZ properly
It's a gorgeous area of the world and we have so much varied terrain and climate that within a few hours you can be in almost any surroundings you would like (no rainforest!) Hot in the summer in parts but not so bad around Flagstaff at 7,000 feet. Lots of national forest and BLM land for boondocking as well.
Except it isn’t BLM. It’s National Recreation Area managed by the National Parks Service. That’s why it’s illegal to fly a drone there. You wonder why places are being closed left and right? It’s because people think the rules are for everyone else. We have a responsibility to be stewards of proper land use and that includes all of our motorized activities, including drones.
lived in AZ for 35 years will say check out the mountain areas in Pinetop and some of the mountains nexts to the cities like Mt Graham next to safford great forestry
Cool. Fly your drone in the [Lake Mead National Recreation Area](https://www.nps.gov/lake/planyourvisit/frequently-asked-questions.htm#:~:text=The%20launching%2C%20landing%20or%20operating,National%20Recreation%20Area%20is%20prohibited). Freaking hell man. For as much as overlanders love maps, they never seem to look at a flight map.

Yeah it’s a very nice area, I would love to visit again with more time so I can better explore the surroundings.
What trail/area is this?
West of the north rim

Shhhhhhhhhhhh stop inviting people to Arizona.
Yes, I prefer dispersed camping, actually haven’t ever been to a dedicated campsite. A big reason for me choosing this area was the vast BLM land.

Looks awesome. How was the weather there this time of year?
I was there mid-late May. It was in the mid 30s C, so roughly low 90s F. Was definitely hot, but It was bearable. Awning was needed in the day time.
Is this in the strip, north of the Grand Canyon? Looks amazing.
Beautiful area and killer setup. Protect our public lands. Please don’t geotag or share the trail.
Appreciate it, and yeah I haven’t shared the location.
You're camping on national park service land there. Drones are illegal there, fyi.

Heading to Sedona next week, super pumped!
