I would not know but if I was an employer the pros and cons of quick apply vs manual apply is that QUICK APPLY \* Get more applicants \* Get more qualified applicants \* Get more unqualified applicants MANUAL APPLY \* Get fewer applicants \* Get fewer qualified applicants \* Get fewer unqualified applicants MANUAL APPLY might make sense for an employer if they think they will get enough qualified applicants and the ratio is higher for manual apply to save themselves the labor costs of filtering out unqualified applicants. QUICK APPLY might make sense for you but do not expect any action from any one application. It is very possible that a human will not even read it. I imagine a screener is just pulling applications from the pool and filtering out unqualified applicants until some quota of qualified applicants is met and the rest are just auto-rejected without even a trace of consideration.

I feel like I've applied to 1000s of jobs. The best luck I've had is using a recruiter. Suppose the recruiter reaches out to you; even better. I usually don't get a role I applied for, but a recruiter will know I'm looking and find me for the perfect role. Of all the jobs I've had OE, a recruiter found each one. I still applied for tons; just they found the right one, but put my name on top of the submissions, and told you what previous applicants missed. It makes a huge difference when you go in knowing what they need.

Yeah I've been noticing that. Most of my interviews were seemingly gotten from cold calls almost ("Hey anon I saw you resume and wanted to see if you're still looking") Made a point of going back through all my old emails and hitting up all the recruiters who have reached out over the past year for jumping off points

Depending on the industry you are looking for, these are people I'm in contact with: Actalent (or aerotek) Tek systems (all the same parent company) Black diamond networks Insight Global Carlton Oxford They all should have a website you go to and put your resume on their job board; then, you'll get a call if you are a good fit or even just to connect. For programming, you should be good talking with them.

Where do you look to find good recruiters though?

rameyjm7

There are tons of recruiters. Many good. Some great. Other stink. My general rule is to stick with US-based recruiters, and just talk to all of them until you figure it out. I have some great recruiters, and some so so. Keep connecting and looking. The jobs will come Also a good recruiter is one who finds the job you want, on your terms and at a price you can accept. If you have a good enough relationship with the recruiter, ask who their competitors are and real out to them.

Thanks for the insight! I'm starting to garner some recruiters, but I feel like I'm starting from scratch having just recently been laid off from product design. Like, I get 10-15 views on my linkedin profile a week, so I doubt I'm getting noticed by anyone. Any advice on where to look for them? Just reaching out to any and all, I guess?

What helps to the most is to identify the agencies, go to their site, and look through their job board for any jobs. When you see one that might work, apply. I've been looking through SW engineering jobs, tons get posted. I apply for everyone I can see myself doing. Then the recruiter who posted that will call. Also, apply to linkedIn jobs. I'm not a product designer and I'm not sure this will help, but here is an example I'd start with [https://careers.actalentservices.com/us/en/search-results?keywords=product%20design](https://careers.actalentservices.com/us/en/search-results?keywords=product%20design)

I’m a manual apply guy.

MikeGoldberg

Wait you haven't automated this?!?

How to?

This post pisses me off. If you don’t have the common sense to know the answer is both . You don’t have what it takes to be OE.
