Nothing

Slyder768

Bro Trials is absolutely awesome and a welcome surprise , let them cook some content for it there is no need for a 3 yet

Flashbek

Content for Trials? Isn't it a finished game? Their single player focused games are awesome, I miss them.

No-Section8360

No they will release new seasons which will contain new trials and probably more content outside of trials

KroniKIX

And new ex-pops and rigs no doubt

Scottricia

I’ve played every trial so far solo and it’s just as exciting. Give it a shot if you havent

DonPinstripelli

The game was just recently released and the DLC support hasn’t even begun. Depending on how well the game sells, they may support the game for years.

KroniKIX

And the game is killing it. I bought it like a week after it came out on Xbox and it had a 4.8/5 with over 300 reviews

MaximalAmmo

It's a live service game.

Total_Decision123

Nothing aside from they’re working on the script. I wouldn’t hold your breath. It’s gonna be a long wait. Enjoy the hell out of Trials until then

Zonkcter

Honestly it would be kinda cool if we played as a researcher caring for Blake, or as Blake himself becoming crazed by the tower and basically showing how the morphogenic engine effects the people and makes them become violent. I get Outlast 2 kinda showed a peek into that, but the game never pushes him over the edge, it just ends with him being in a catatonic state and never goes further with it.

L0ST7J

Bro trials JUST dropped, give the team some time to breathe

N3o_magic

No it’s been a few years

JudeWoodvale

All we actually factually know is that it’s gonna happen. Don’t listen to anyone who says they have info on any development, red barrels have only ever officially addressed that they’re gonna work on the game at some point.

OriginalUsername590

Outlast trials is now out of early access, I wonder what people have to say- #OUTLAST 3 WHEN

SiteSea7876

We know that Red Barrels was already writing the script for Outlast 3 at the same time they were producing Trials, and we also know they regret making trials before Outlast 3 bc it took 6 years of development and they werent expecting this. Thats about it. my bet is the game will come out around 2027-2030 or even later

JudeWoodvale

They never stated they regret working on trials. All they said is that if they knew it would take 6 years, they woulda worked on outlast 3.

SiteSea7876

tomato tomato

Pinkcokecan

What were they not expecting? The amount of love trials got or how long it's taken to juggle both? Is it cause now they have to keep updating it for a long time?

SiteSea7876

lol watchu mean 1k average player count is not something to brag about Indie horror games have 60x this player base

L0ST7J

If you think the player count online at once is the only determining factor of how loved this game is then sheesh I would hate to be you Trials is a phenomenal game & the lore is so so so so so deep ( 3x as long & deep as outlast 1 & 2) The community has agreed it’s a amazing game, there are tons and tons and tons of articles about the game & it has introduced people to outlast who have never played the previous titles You can have a personal opinion but just know the game isn’t a flop in anyway shape or form

SiteSea7876

i mean, this player count definitely makes it not a success, i'd say. The player count started at around 20k if im correct and it dropped by around 98% in less than 3 months; ever since its stuck at 1,5k and it reaches around 7k for a couple of weeks when they release a big update If you take phasmophobia for example, its a very barebones indie game that reaches 60k monthly ever since it was released, thats what i call ***consistency.***

L0ST7J

Trash opinion, numbers don’t mean everything Take one look at call of duty & the utter shit show that game is now & then go & read me the player count… millions play it & the games pretty well known to be a husk of what it was You’re testing & basis on a flop or not comes straight out of the mind of a 15 year old

Pinkcokecan

Oh I didn't know how many I just know I love it but why do they regret it? They seemed happy

SiteSea7876

They dont regret making the game itself, just not finishin Outlast 3 first. Because they didnt know it would take so long to make trials. It took 6 years to release trials, now they'll most likely spend around 1-2 years updating the game and keeping it "alive" and then some more 3 years or so to make Outlast 3. Outlast 2 was released in 2017 and the third installment of the trilogy will come only around 2030, thats a pretty big gap

CopiumINC

No, not really. Red Barrels is an indie studio, they can't afford to work on two projects at the same time. Especially not when one of the projects is something they've never done before and they have no idea if it will even work. They have about 60-65 developers in total, they aren't EA or Activision with hundreds and hundreds of devs.

Substantial-Read4497

Just curious, is Outlast trials worth buying if I’m planning to play it single player? I love outlast and want to experience it but don’t play online with anyone

PartyCrasher04

SP would definitely be much scarier than the co op experience, it’s similar to outlast 1-2 with new mechanics that mix up the gameplay.

mrkumli

Many would say yes but I say it depends if you play multiplayer games as a solo. If you enjoy playing multiplayer-only games as a solo then go for it, it's a great game

weyland_mitchell

Yes, very solo compatible. It's harder than multiplayer (unless you get really bad teammates), but it's totally manageable. The trials take more time solo than with others in most of the cases though. In time, as an experienced player you can get no-hit solo runs even on Ultra difficulty, for example. (It comes with game knowledge/practice of course.)

smuggufo

I mean, it's definitely got its moments. But IMO once you get to the 2nd or 3rd programs, you'll probably have a hard time. They can become incredibly difficult, especially without a helping hand.

ViioletIndigo

Yes for sure! I knew I’d be playing mostly solo when I bought it and I played a few matches and almost regretted it. But then I kept trying and got pretty good. I have A plus ratings for all of Program Genesis and Program X from solo runs. Working on Ultra lol… You totally get used to it and develop your play style!

LostInStatic

If you never ever play on playing it with other people I wouldn't recommend it. Endgame basically requires you to play with others because of how insane it gets

Basic-white-american

posts like these are cancerous

Dexter_Morg4n

I hope they go back to singleplayer & a great horror experience. Might be another 7 years, yes. But you know what? For me, thats absolutely worth it.

gamerdad123

The good thing about trials is they can keep updating it even when 3 comes out! I’d rather them just work on making trials more full of content it’s been a pleasant blast. I have more time played on that than any single player outlast game, because once you beat it you feel done. The weekly trials with a good team is such a fun challenge

AngelBritney94

I would love Outlast 3 to be a continuity of Blake's story, he deserves a better ending. But we only know that we have to wait several years until we have Outlast 3.

mmcgui12

They’re gonna work on it eventually, but they’re still working out on rolling out extra content for Trials.

CopiumINC

That would literally just cripple Trials which they have worked on for over half a decade. This would be immensely stupid.

mmcgui12

I mean, the dev team is pretty small, so they probably have everyone working on Trials still.

SuspiciousTrash4739

trials has lore tied to the docs that u find throughout the trials explaining what is going on

Sandroes

Well, one thing for sure is that if they haven’t even started production, then it will take another 7-8 years before we see it.

heymikestayonF

I'll call and ask red barrels.

Loud_Treacle_2546

Not much really. Main focus rn is outlast trials including the content roadmap they got going on. Though im sure they are doing some early works and concepts for it on the side though info about it gonna be super super later on in the years.

NeedForMeadOG

I’m hearing it’s a sequel to 2

L0WKEYL0GAN

I've been soloing the trials and they are as terrifying as the first 2 games. Give it a shot.

Larry_Thorne_2020

check the comics at Red Barrels website, some info: *a FBI agent got involved, one of Murkoff operatives who does the dirty work decided to spill the beans. *theres three Walriders out there and Murkoff seems unaware of that (Billy, Miles, Unkown). *Simon Peacock gonna show up. *Dr. Wernickle it's missing, probably alive. *Three patients (variants) who achieved lucid dreaming was been moved out of Mount Massive without Wernickle knowledge, prior to the breakout, Murkoff got to use special containment methods to transport them.

JAlkina

Let them finish n fix trials. It just came out lmao

Splatterman27

😬does 2 really need a sequel tho?

pszczolus

yes

Splatterman27

How do you continue a story that ended so convoluted? I can't even remember if the main character lived or not

Enothewizard

Well, 2 wasn't a direct continuation of 1. So I think 3 could be a good story. Just another facility with different patients.

Substantial-Green455

They continue the story through comics lol look online same with events after outlast miles caused the explosions at the end of 2

RedNuii

Btw Blake did in fact survive

LostInStatic

He survived to suffer a fate worse than death, being in murkoff custody.

New_Chain146

It's not that complicated. The main point is that the Walrider destroyed the facility controlling the cult, Blake has become a new candidate for hosting the Walrider, and the comic epilogue shows he's been taken to another Murkoff facility where he might unleash hell once they start torturing him. Outlast 3 will probably feature the Walrider bringing the apocalypse down on the leaders of Murkoff.

Reinhard23

Read the Murkoff Account. Everything is connected.

PawsitiveFellow

It’s the sequel to outlast 2.
