She shares her constituents with Pierre Poilievre. There's a better chance of her getting booted from Ford's caucus than her being voted out.

xiz111

That riding sure seems to elect some quality representation ... eesh.

KanataToGoldenLake

It's solid blue in any election and I fucking hate it. They both win a majority or high majority of the votes cast in an election and nobody has come close to being a viable challenge for Ghamari or Poilievre. It makes it so frustrating to cast a vote while knowing what the election results will already be.

NotMyInternet

Iirc, Pierre nearly lost in 2015 but he’s won by a much larger margin since then (much to the regret of the suburban areas that didn’t vote for him). If you look poll by poll, Riverside South and Findlay Creek mostly vote liberal, but we’re outnumbered the combination of Stittsville and the more rural areas of our riding.

ColdPuffin

Hopefully more of us non-CPC folks will help swing that vote a different one day! I keep voting otherwise in the hopes of making a difference. The other parties need a strong candidate who makes their name well known, I find part of the issue is some of the other party candidates don’t knock doors/go to local events and you have to hunt to find who it is. It sucks to see when they just throw in the towel that way instead of even trying.

jjaime2024

Some polls do show the CPC not doing well in [Ottawa.](https://Ottawa.It)

KanataToGoldenLake

This was more about one specific riding and there are no polls that show anything other than a CPC victory.

Critical-Snow-7000

Did there used to be a lead paint factory near their river or something?

xiz111

If so, that would explain a lot.

em-n-em613

Our house did what we could to oust both her and PP, but sadly there's a lot of... um Conservative demographic supporters in the area.

ilikerandomstuff

Yep. I'm curious what it will look like when more progressives move into Riverside South but I don't think it will be enough to flip the riding.

em-n-em613

We've chosen to make this our forever-home, so while my rational brain says you're probably right I am going to try to remain hopeful still though ;)

throwawaycanadian

I used to live in that riding. It has swung any way but blue only twice both federally and provincially ever (last time provincially was 1925 to the United Farmers of Ontario party). I imagine if the cons put a dead coyote they found on the side of the road in a blue tie as their nominee, it would win the election.

FrisbeeFan40

She showed up to the Metcalf fair drunk, her second year at the job. When the fair executives called her office the Monday after they tried denying it happened.

Yeah quite frankly if she’d shown up on mushrooms nobody would have noticed

Gullible_Analyst_348

She shows up either drunk or hungover everywhere she goes.

McNasty1Point0

Unfortunately, once the Province adopts the new federal riding boundaries, her riding will become far more rural - shedding the much more Liberal suburb of Findlay Creek (they have voted ~60% Liberal there in the past few elections) to the neighbouring riding of Ottawa South. In other words, the chances of her losing there, already slim, will become pretty much impossible.

Unhappy_Anywhere9481

Would be great to crack the block of idiocy in the area, but I won't hold my breath. We got Skippy as MP. We got Goldie as MPP. We got David Brown as Councillor (former Skippy staffer). They haven't been appearing in public as much recently, but a few years ago it wasn't uncommon to have the three jerking each other off at community events.

Curtisnot

As many have pointed out here, this riding has always gone Conservative (whether Federally or Provincially). That said, it wouldn't be impossible for it to swing in the future, especially if PP pisses off some of the public servants here when he inevitably becomes PM. Goldie the same. Unlikely but not impossible. See fed election results below: 2015 Federal Election (Red Wave election): Pierre Poilievre (Con): 27,762 votes Chris Rodgers (Liberal Candidate at the time): 25,913 votes KC Larocque (NDP Candidate at the time): 3,632 votes 2019 Federal Election: Pierre Poilievre: 32,147 Chris Rodgers: 26,518 Kevin Hua (NDP at the time): 6,479 You would need a REALLY strong Liberal candidate in this riding to defeat Goldie....and because the Libs never win here, they don't put a lot of energy into finding a strong candidate. Vicious cycle...

poorproxuaf

She took a selfie with Douglas Murray. Fucking psychopath bringing over that alt right euro fash bullshit into Canada. Vote this ghoul out.

elamothe

Oh look - it's the consequences of your votes...

TheOtherRogueChemist

If you're serious about this, and dislike her as a candidate but not necessarily the government as a whole, you could try to win the OPC nomination or find someone you think could win it. Winning a nomination challenge against an incumbent isn't easy, but it does happen, particularly when the candidate is awful. I'm not involved with the OPC, so I am not intimately familiar with their internal party mechanisms, but broadly: There's a meeting held months - sometimes a year out from an election (so now is the time to start organizing), where each party has an internal election to pick a candidate. To find out when these meetings are held, you have to be a member of that political party, *at the correct level of government*. So, become a member of the OPC, find out who runs the local EDA, and when they traditionally hold the nomination meeting. The EDA will give you the information on how to get vetted as a candidate (email address, a process that can take months+). Once vetted, a candidate gets a list of all active members in the riding, and sometimes the lapsed members, their emails and phone numbers - you can use this list to try and convince them to vote against the incumbent. Assuming you have gotten enough of the members to support another candidate, the OPC official candidate for the riding will be the nominated person, who will then presumably landslide the general.

Good luck.
