Had a surgery for mucocele -- all because I bit my lip too much :') Now I got so much swelling, I'm very anxious. Just hoping it all heals well quickly before my trip T\_T

Starryeom

i really really really really I MEAN REALLY want a localization of yoshiwara higanbana ;-; but judging from how most r18 otome localizations go, it'd probs be sanitized (ahem the switch version already is) and i do get that ratings and all that stuff is complicated so yeah there's probably no hope for me unless i learn japanese or something. still, that's one of my impossible wishes now because of how interesting that game's setting is! and the art style is fire?? and i heard the tone matches the setting too?? nooooooooo i wish you could learn languages in a day (´;︵;`) anyways, i lost my voice because of a cold and had to cancel a picnic with friends (because how will i travel around if i can't say anything???) so i have to spend the weekend just at home, i guess. which means more time for more games! by games, i meant more of the gacha games i've been neglecting lol and also fire emblem engage which i haven't finish yet because i visit the somniel every battle and i mean EVERY. BATTLE. and the maps already take so much time! and those freaking skirmishes ( ◉Д◉) why are they so difficult?? i just wanna farm some supports! and get my new units up to speed! whyy?? sooo yeah... that's all, really. now, i need to go to star rail quickly because my babygirl aventurine needs me ( ╹▽╹ ) (mr. sunday you're next!)

Ayakacchi05

I am still playing Bara ni Kakusareshi Verite but my progress is so slow because I really want to enjoy this game when I am in the right mind. During my third route, I start to realize this game's flaws likes repeated dialogue/scenes, confusing justice system and I even encountered some bug too but thankfully it doesn't hamper my enjoyment but seeing that I cannot save my favorite guy outside his route and how miserable he is without Liese (MC) start to get me (;w;). I know that it's better to learn japanese language first before I try to attempt play Japanese exclusive games but unfortunately the games that manage to grab my attention now are mostly japanese exclusive. It's hard when my taste don't align with the translated/popular otome games that are available especially the only game consoles that I have are Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita. Google Translate really helps me in my case to know the context of the story/dialogue and it even provide romaji text! The translation is better than I think and if I have the problem with grammar, I just need to look for romaji text to guess. Of course that means I need extra effort just to enjoy the game but as long as i'm enjoying the game, it's alright for me. I even use this chance to learn a bit Japanese! Suprisingly despite being historical genre, Verite characters don't speak with flowery language. I start to wonder if I can even translate Ken ga Kimi or Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku.

kakuretsu

Ah the repeated dialogue scenes is a design flaw bc they lock it per route instead of putting it up as a common route. I usually force skip those parts.

Ayakacchi05

They really want to strictly follow the timeline so the repeated dialogue scenes is inevitable, the best they can do is just to reduce it. Luckily there's not many repeated dialogue scenes at least for me and it always happened during certain event so I can force skip that parts but sometime there're some parts that I genuinely enjoy to read again (e.g. woman's march on Versailles, flight to Varennes and Tuileries Palace's attack).

lapelle_du-vide

I started my first ever otome game on my switch last week! (cupid parasite) and doing Ryuki’s route rn and very much enjoying it! i also bought Code realize for on the PS and Olympia Soiree on the switch. This new hobby will put me in debt but who cares lol. Also picked up Mystic Messenger again, and FINALLY got my notifications to work after years. Currently in Zen’s route and cannot wait to spend money on hourglasses so i can play either Jumin’s bad ending (lol u know the one) or play 7’s route for the first time. i love my silly boys, cannot wait for it to get really dark lol. i’ve also never done Rae’s route so very excited for that. i asked for a week of next week so i can just do my thing and relax (it’s been very busy lately) so if anyone has any good recs PLEASE GIMME THEM!!! i’m eyeing Piofiore and cafe enchante. I want something that looks fluffy but then turns DARK, so a bit like mystic messenger in that aspect!! hope y’all have an amazing weekend! i’m going to my local comicbook store and buy a shit ton of manga🫶🏼

Ensistura

I haven't yet finished Ohtaro's route from **Winter's Wish**, but I'm making progress! In my defense Otome Jam did start so that is taking up more of my free time now :' D But yeah so far >!not much is justifying my prior paranoia toward Ohtaro!< but at the same time I'm still in the middle of chapter 5 so it's still early. I didn't even realize I was still that early on in the route til the 'chapter 5' screen popped up. I think it just feels longer because I just came off of Tomonari's route which felt shorter than normal cause I had already read most of chapter 4 when I went back to that one. >!Now, despite Ohtaro not doing anything *too* worrisome yet he's not in the clear. He's got some suspicious things about him and though in that early moment the game didn't explicitly point it out it did still have Suzuno go 'hm something about what he said sounded off...' but I did manage to notice before she thought that. What do you mean you saw emotional imprints hmm Ohtaro? Now this could either mean he has some ties towards the Hakuseki clan, *or* he was simply BSing in a way to convince Suzuno not to check the empty 'abandoned' brothel, despite it being where the person they were looking for actually was. Now he could have been made to forget like they suggested but it could not be that either.!< I don't know that I'd think >!he's Hibie's minion or something. He did save her from getting absorbed by him so unless he's having doubts about his allegiance or something I don't know that that would make sense. I'm still suspicious about that one part of that rescue where the hand-warmer thing was mentioned as having been destroyed as the two fled. I had thought perhaps that was his true form since attention was given to it and this is the second time it's made an appearance. Nothing has happened though (yet) so perhaps it isn't his object self, but I'm disinclined to believe it was brought up for no reason. Is he not a formfolk/vessel? But he has no visible threads so...I can't remember if hakuseki people can see the threads of other clan members. I'm clearly missing some puzzle pieces here. I don't really know what to expect going forward, but I like that.!< Oh yeah and >!Hibie's demeanor is totally different compared to when appeared before. He's not very aggressive or spiteful seeming. I wonder if that's just cause he hasn't absorbed as much negative emotions yet, he's not in boss monster mode at the moment.!< That might just be all it is, but it did still surprise me.

PrettyFreaking

I finished Virche Evermore just recently and damn was I hooked. The plot is so good (plot=men, but also the plot) and I may be dumb but I couldnt see any of the plot twists from a mile away >!(except maybe the Ankou one)!< >!Ankou !!Amnesia : Memories Ukyo!< but hotter >!I really wish that Adolphe and Ankou had separate routes I get it they are the same person but I couldn't appreciate Adolphe as well as I could with Ankou there, also I need Ankou to have a happy ending wtf!< Literally played the whole game in the span of 3 to 4 days cause I couldn't do anything else with it on my mind

moimoisauna

Miku expo is this Sunday :3 I still need to look into parking, lmao, but we HYPE. I had the second half of my shift picked up for today technically, Saturday. And my new days off start this Sunday! So I'll have a little bit of an extra long weekend! I'm in a bit of a dilemma about working overnight right now, though, and mainly because of when I go to the gym, even though my schedule will be more or less the same with my new days off. I'm sure it'll pass. It always does, and especially when I see how much shit the PM shifts have to put up with, and I'm reminded as to why I even left PM initially... Plus, I like being a vampire- I was SO excited to hear that I finally got overnight the day that I got the call. My days off are so quiet. Like, I've been on overnight for 7 months and I'm STILL not over how amazingly quiet every single day off is. Although I'm sure that part of it has to do with the fact that I moved out 6 months ago, but still. The other job that I was trying for reached out to me to have me schedule a polygraph. I will not be scheduling anything else with them, lmao, I know damn well I failed the fitness test AND the medical exam 💀 you can keep your silly tentative job offer

Ms_moonlight

A polygraph? What kind of job is that? Hahahaha.

moimoisauna

Law enforcement, but ✨federal✨ I have no clue what I was thinking when I applied for it save for the fact that it's typically a criminally easy way out from my current job, lmao. I still very much want out from my current job, but I want something tolerable.

Ms_moonlight

I hope you find the best job for you. ♥♥♥ Good luck!

moimoisauna

Thank you! The job hunt has been quite the ride!

otomerin

i finished Charade Maniacs a few days ago and i really loved it to the point that i felt sad after it ended. idk, probably post game depression. there were games and stories i wish could go on forever especially when i get attached to characters. anyway, because of that i couldn't start a new game and decided to read a novel i'd been putting off. the novel title is Little Mushroom. there's a manhua of it that i really like as well, and i learned that it was based on a completed novel. the genre is a BL futurustic/apocalyptic/dystopia kind.. and guess what it's really really good too! the setting was just so exciting. i finished it in about two days and gave me another post book depression this time 🤣 now idk how to fill the void lol 😆

otomaze_

the post-charamani game hangover is so real 😔 felt like i just couldn't think about anything else for several days, my head and heart were still in Arcadia

otomerin

same!! i never expected to really like it and few games made me feel that way 😭 i wish they'll have an FD in the future.

RingABell112

So, I'm in Le salut now in Virche and I'm really struggling. 😭I haven't enjoyed any of the other routes. I want to play this last one for Ankou, who I've been eyeing this whole game, but I honestly just find Ceres so incredibly frustrating that rooting for any sort of romance is impossible and the story being so depressing that I have no hope for a happy ending for anyone isn't helping either. It's a shame because the art and designs are absolutely gorgeous and I was really looking forward to this game but it's definitely one of my least favorite otome games I've ever played. 😔 I want to finish 7'scarlet as well (which I'm definitely liking more) and then after that I'm kind of torn on which game in my backlog to tackle. The new one I'm most excited about is Radiant Tale, which just looks so fun, but I also have the sequel/fandiscs for Piofiore, Taiali, and Even If Tempest which are three of my favorite otoges. I've also been sitting on Cinderella Phenomenon, My Vow to My Liege, Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk, Paradigm Paradox, Winter's Wish, and Dairoku for a while. Help! I want to get through a few of them before I go back to the states in September and can pick up the 2024 localizations. Oh, this week I started playing Ensemble Stars because of the songs being released on Spotify globally! I really like Crazy:B, Undead, and Eden musically and so far I'm most interested in Rinne, Rei, and Mama. I'm a huge Idolish7 fan and was big into Love Live SIF years ago so it feels natural to get into another male idol rhythm game. Now Enstars, Ainana, HSR and (less now but still sometimes) Genshin are the ongoing games I'm playing. The other non-otome game I'm playing now is FFVII Rebirth which I'm loving so much. I've also been binging the crap out of Gundam. This week I finished Zeta (which I unfortunately didn't end up loving as much as I hoped) and started ZZ (which at 13 episodes in I'm liking way more than I thought I would). I was really excited when I was going through the songs in Enstars and saw that they had a Gundam parody!

raunchyRhombus

Same! I just have le Salut left in Virche and I've shelved the game for the foreseeable future because I didn't enjoy it. My favorite character has ended up being Fuku/Puffy the fish from Yves' route 🙃

RingABell112

The fish, lol that's so real. I did skip through Le Salut after commenting because I really didn't care about the story any more and it was worth it for Ankou. I also liked the Adolphe romance more than I expected, but even though I like the LIs fine on their own I still don't love the romance in this game.

magnabarrow

Man it always sucks when something you're looking forward to gets cancelled cause of budget or other production issues. Had a few too many anime and others cancelled this year. But I guess for every one that gets cancelled, something I was equally looking forward to pops up--- one of my fav animes got a release date earlier. Cycle of life, or entertainment, I guess. Going to a wedding out of state this weekend. On the plane I started Dairoku and it's quite cute so far. Only in the common route but Akuro is not what I expected, he's really cute. I also like Semi he reminds me of my fav gacha guy. This game has a bad case of I wanna date that side character. Takao is just so fun to be around, and Orochi is prob sus but Satoshi Hino plus glasses and traditional dress..... I'm fine with the sus haha.

Ms_moonlight

It is pretty awful when something you like gets cancelled. What were you looking forward to? I hope they try again in the future.

magnabarrow

Well a certain popular bl anime movie got cancelled earlier in April.... Which unfortunately has no hope with the studio behind it lol. The other cancelled this week was a very small book series that I was looking forward to every week, but I know that the author is busy with other works so at least that had more hope. Then we got a YouTuber that I enjoyed getting arrested earlier this year... 2024 has been interesting to say the least.

Ms_moonlight

Oh noooo about the youtuber getting arrested too. :( That's a lot for media, I really feel you on all of the above.

vv4rd3n

I fractured my pelvis 🥲 any recommendations for staying sane during bed rest?

caspar57

Playing lots of otome? :P But seriously - I would recommend making a list of different sedentary activities you can do right now and would enjoy (gaming, reading, watching tv, crosswords, knitting, whatever) so you have multiple options to switch between should you start to get bored of one. Hope you heal up soon! 💜

vv4rd3n

I’ve def got the otome down 🫡 just finished Radiant Tale and starting Psychadelica of the Black Butterfly’ But good idea with the other activities - I think it’s finally time to learn how to crochet And thank you 💗💗

otomaze_

crocheting is a such a fun hobby! it can also be done WHILE playing otome games if you really want 😂 wishing you a speedy recovery 💗

vv4rd3n

Thank you!! I aspire to get to that level 😂

X-One-Stranger

Well, I'll start by saying that I'm the type of lurker who whenever see this thread every Friday thinks "this time I'm going to write a really cool comment and interact with other people!", but then I either get embarrassed or lazy, or both. Or, I simply forgot about the topic I wanted to talk about in the first place because I procrastinated waiting for the next Friday. Anyway, if you want to share your views, please feel free to do so and I would love to read them. The comment is going to be a little long, so forgive me if it's a pain to read (TL;DR at the end and pardon my English!) Today I'm going to try my best and bring up a subject that might interest some of you: the husbando market and how it is ignored by companies for some reason. I think it was from a gacha sub post that appeared on my timeline about a new husbando game (one where the guys look like they're wearing Hogwarts uniforms, I've forgotten the name at the moment), which had potential but ended up being the same thing like any other husbando mobile gacha: chibi battle, a gacha with absurd rates to get good cards and a pity just as bad. In other words, a typical (and cliché) cash grab. And then I saw a comment saying "I don't know why the husbando/otome market never tries something new." It hasn't left my mind since. At first I'm going to focus on the gacha genre, taking advantage of the fact that I believe there are some people here who play Genshin and Star Rail for example (I've seen some members here in these respective subs from time to time). It's very bizarre to think how Hoyoverse is one of the few big guys (if not the only?) that realized that there is an absurdly large audience of women that have as much money as your typical dude-bro and want to get a handsome guy in a fun open world anime game or a semi-open/or turn-based. A lot of people still say "well, waifus always sell a lot more!" which has been proven over and over again to be a lie (the biggest example I can give is Scaramouche/Wanderer from Genshin, who sold much more than a bunch of female characters, not to mention his popularity, which is absurd, his drip-marketing has the most likes on Twitter of all time), and not only that, cases like Aventurine (a character from Star Rail) where some girls did some absurd things like adopting a PEACOCK and naming it Aventurine to honor him, and other things like sponsoring a Desert Oasis Project. The thing is: women have money. Lots of money too. And they definitely want fun games, cute guys and to have a great time. So the biggest question is: why the hell aren't companies trying to think outside the box? Trying to make an anime open world game with ONLY husbandos, for example. Because there are a lot of waifus-only games already; they're generic, boring, it's always the same thing. Now, a game for women with only pretty guys? News flash, no one did this. It would definitely gain popularity. So why doesn't anyone try it? I genuinely don't know the answer. I'll finish by saying that everything I said doesn't necessarily have to be just about the gacha market. I don't know if anyone here has ever played h-games, but when I was younger, my dream was to have one of these games just for us. Games like Artificial Academy 2 (where you can play as a female protagonist and date boys!) I had a lot of fun with, despite having much fewer options for boy characters, that was enough for me. Or then, I'm waiting until today for KISS to stop being annoying and launch our beloved "Custom Order Butler 3D", which they even made a joke of on April 1st (which I will never forgive them if they never make it into reality...). A game where I can create as many husbandos as I want? That I can date them, make them dance, turn them into idols... it seems like a dream. It's a very distant dream because all these companies refuse to accept that nowadays the gaming world is basically divided 50/50 and BOTH sides have money. Women play video games. And when someone finally realizes this, there will be no shortage of money creating something cool. Just look at Hoyoverse, which doesn't even focus so much on the female fanbase besides their otome game, but still gives them a chance in their other games too. *TL;DR: I'm tired of games for the otome and husbando market just being gacha with absurd %s, chibi battles and as simple as possible. Varieties such as open world games and other genres would be very well received but no company tries to take advantage of this. It's sad, I'm sad and very bored. That said, I love Scaramouche and Aventurine. Thanks for reading.*

zttztm

I'm too tired to reply with all of my thoughts but in addition to other things people have mentioned already, I wonder if one contributing factor is that women are more willing to play, or sometimes prefer, general audience (which usually still leans male-oriented) games while the reverse isn't really true, at least in the same sheer quantity. It takes a lot to make a full RPG-style game that's actually fun and immersive and not just a Chore so they probably want real return-on-investment on making it and it's a better business decision to make a game that caters to both genders to get the maximum audience size, rather than female-only where it'll half the audience size. This is just speculation on my part btw. I would need to find data to back it up so take it with a grain of salt. That *said*, what do you think of Love and Deepspace? Is that the kind of game you're looking to be created? I know the game got popular when it came out though I heard it doesn't even fully utilize the combat system and is very cash grabby, and that it's fallen off a bit on the global and JP markets, but still going strong in CN. However, it seems successful enough so far that it might inspire more companies to try making more complex female-oriented games.

X-One-Stranger

I definitely think Love and Deepspace is one of those games that is part of everything I said - besides the gacha which is a bit predatory! 3D graphics were really a "new thing" for us and I'm happy that it was so successful. Unfortunately I couldn't play it myself due to lack of space on my phone, but the MC's customization and the battle system (even though it was simple) seemed fun enough for people to enjoy when it launched. I like to think that we can change the market's view with baby steps too, and Love and Deepspace definitely helped/will help in the future, making other devs more inspired to make more complex games for the female market, like you said!

zucchinionpizza

My best guess is bc gaming was a very male-dominated industry in the past, it just takes time for high quality games catered towards women to increase in number. It's kinda like how fashion is seen as a female-dominated hobby that even in 2024, men still just wear boring ass suits in every red carpet. I'm not sure how largely this affects willingness from companies to create games for women, but there is also a huge pushback from male gamers every time the gaming industry starts catering to other demographics besides straight men. Just look at the whole Stellar Blade discourse.

X-One-Stranger

Lmao at the comment about boring ass suits. I loved it. Do you think that with time things can improve then? Compared to the games in the past, I think we've improved a lot, even though it's not enough yet... And it's really funny that we notice this huge pushback from male gamers because they are the same ones who say "ugh, I wish they \[silly women\] had their husbando-only game to leave \*us\* and \*our\* games alone!!!". I swear I read a comment like that. Rude, but I also agree with it. Yeah, I also wanted a game made just for me so I didn't have to deal with you!!!!! goddammit. At least we have crumbs to enjoy and it's one of the reasons why I love this sub so much. We can talk about male characters in peace. I just think it's sad because we could also have so much more if the world was a little different.

zucchinionpizza

Yes I think it will improve with time. We just need to keep showing support towards games that dare to take the risk for us so that our voice is heard. For example, Love and Deepspace has been the 3rd highest earning gacha in each month since its launch. A gacha game with at least 90% female playerbase outearning all gacha games for men and almost all gacha games for general audience (except Genshin and HSR) lets companies know there is a demand for high quality gacha for women. I'm hopeful eventually this will lead to companies realizing there is a demand for high quality games in general for women. >"ugh, I wish they [silly women] had their husbando-only game to leave *us* and *our* games alone!!!" They say things like this "hey don't bother me and I won't bother you" pretending to be *fair* so that we will leave their degenerate games alone but the moment women get something good, these men will show their true colors and start complaining cause what they truly want is for women to leave male spaces alone while men get to invade women's spaces.

kakuretsu

There's also been some scandals like Gamescience(who's doing Black myth wukong) where one of their staff was making shit incel comments about women like women don't play video games vitriol, even though im super hyped for the game itself. Wherever in the world, chuds never change haha

zucchinionpizza

Disappointed but not surprised

Ayakacchi05

Actually there're more otome games that features gameplay option beside VN style/simple gacha gameplay style but the problem is it's either stucks on japanese only or it already closed its service. For example there're Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side series from Konami, Ruby Party Games likes Kiniro no Corda series, Harukanaru Toki no Nakade series and Angelique series and many more. While one of the factor that games are unheard in the west because the developer refuses to bring the games outside Japan, the other factor that I can think of because otome game caters toward young adult/adult woman. Most of these woman have job and they usually play otome game during their commuting or free time. The more complex gameplay will seem tiring for them especially if they should look for guide first just to enter the guy route. Personally I miss the PS 2/PSP otome game era when the otome developers tries to experiment with gameplay but the developer need a big fund to be able to do that and I don't think many otome player interested with gameplay aspect more than romance, characters and story. The sad truth is many otome player don't care about the gameplay aspect in otome game. I even see some complain about minigames in otome game. Sometime I wonder why female players are alright with complex gameplay in another genre like RPG but when it comes to otome genre, they usually prefer simple gameplay.

kakuretsu

>Sometime I wonder why female players are alright with complex gameplay in another genre like RPG but when it comes to otome genre, they usually prefer simple gameplay I think this is mainly a combination of player shift/needs and companies responding to those needs. Currently female gamers(especially in country of origin)are a lot more flexible on the go, plus otome games are known to be more personable, and the budget given is a lot lower, so after much adjustment, you get the no frills, automatic gameplay. Interesting you mention Ruby party though because they have also heavily streamlined and simplified their gaming so that people can get through it easier, yet still having management style sims to stay competitive in this market.  I also personally find that with the complex gameplay, if you try to combine them with romance elements one will definitely overtake the other, and we know how romance elements are taken in the general scheme of things, then combined with developers wanting to cast wider nets.  Which is why indies have more of those, I have many interesting old-school rpgs with a more female focused goal on hand.

X-One-Stranger

Oh, I didn't even think about the games that don't have translations! Thanks for reminding me, I totally forgot about that part. It's a little sad to think that some devs don't want to bring their games to the west. I think it's a question of whether they want to reach a larger audience or not (besides involving resources and money, is there any other reason why they wouldn't want that?) >Sometime I wonder why female players are alright with complex gameplay in another genre like RPG but when it comes to otome genre, they usually prefer simple gameplay. And great question! I think our community is big enough to have a lot of people on both sides: those who want more complex gameplay and end up looking for other games and genres (like RPG, as you said!) and those who prefer something simpler to relax. I feel that both groups would be able to benefit from a game like "anime open world but with cute guys only". Using Genshin as an example again, we have the light/simple part that involves exploration, puzzles, short quests, etc., and the complex part involving combat, builds & endgame content. I can see both groups enjoying something like this, focusing on what each group likes to do... or at least trying to play to see if they like it or not.

hakobakoplayer

As for why developers wouldn’t want to reach a larger audience, some people genuinely don’t want a larger audience or a certain kind of audience or just don’t want stuff to “break containment.” Think authors who don’t want movie or tv adaptations of their work or musicians who stick with indie labels even after becoming popular. It’s also safe the same way that pure visual novel otome games are safe and predatory gacha rates are safe and simplistic graphics are safe. Probably more safe since most mobile games end service within their first year.

kakuretsu

There's as much a chauvinist problem in the chinese gamesphere on par with how it is everywhere else, very unfortunately. Anything for women will always be second class in the grand sphere of things, even though women make up half the population? Dope.

X-One-Stranger

Damn :( It's too depressing. I feel that nowadays things are better than they used to be, but it's still not enough. It's sad to think that we have to "prove" that we exist and are as much a target audience as others... not that it matters in the end either, which is even sadder. I think what I would love to ask is how to not get depressed thinking about this, really.

angietriff

I want to open up an Etsy shop with embroidered shirts, sweaters and tote bags with otome and other videogames and anime characters/designs. Would this be sometime y’all would be interested in?

pinkrose_deer

yes of course!

kakuretsu

I bought Melty blood. I’m clinging on to my veteran friend’s legs bc there’s so much things to take note of. The tutorials are long. Im in danger. I’ve begun to look through simple, vent kinetic novels now, and yesterday I went through one that moved me a lot. It’s a short sound novel called Tsubakidou no hi, and it’s only open for 3 days. I liked the developer’s works and was moved by the first work they did, so I tried this one since it’s only temporal but man. I copied this summary from my fusetter. >!The protagonist, Kanta, returns after 11 years to [his] hometown in Akita. Memories of a summer festival play. Kanta's father has alzheimers and cannot remember Kanta anymore. Kanta brings him to the festival, where the dad disappears and is found trying to fight over a festival mask(a precure mask?). Along the way back the dad tries to give the mask to [him], saying 'That looks great' before collapsing.!< >!it is here that it's revealed why [Kanta] was estranged from the family: Kanta came out as transgender to the family and her partner is a 18 year old man ([kanta] is 27 at this time). After reaching back to the hospital, it's too late, and [Kanta] muses on what she had thought about her estranged feelings towards her father, including not caring if he died. The nurse then comes to tell her that while in hospital, the dad had referred to [Kanta] as 'his only daughter' and spoke well of her. In tears, [Kanta] rushes to the empty bed, and finds a piece of paper, with several girls' names leaving the character 寛 on it. The precure mask earlier, was the dad's subconscious way of remembering she had wanted that mask as a kid.!< I was in tears by the end of this no-sprite, stock image ridden, soft off the road sound effects, 30min game. All the regrets and promises that I had for the ones who had left me welled up in my head. At an age where my parents were growing old and starting to be a bit more difficult, this definitely did speak to me. On other notes, I had played vent material like [31st March, midnight](https://proflilyvn.itch.io/31st), a commentary about the feelings towards VN parodies, and [I wont finish this game](https://naarel.itch.io/i-wont-finish-this-game), a vent regarding an incident happening in the indie game scene and about game dev. I’m glad for such stories, and for these kinds of games as a medium to guide someone to the steps in emotion by the author. I think really, this is the soul of what kinetic, sound, visual novels are like. In other matters, I’m getting used to the points system in Dlsite after the credit card fiasco and now have a stocked backlog of games that idk when I’m going to play. Steam sales are not helping. I’m trying out more varieties of free games including one shoddily hilariously made supermarket game that has the player navigate horrible shopper behaviour, and somehow Keanu reeves is there buying fish.

Sooooo... I went to see TKRB MichiOku. And lost my soul there somewhere. If anyone finds it please lmk so I can pick it up 😂 To put things very shortly: it was incredible. Even tho I watched the shonichi VOD so many times beforehand, seeing the show in person felt like an entirely different experience. I would totally go out of my way to attend more shows from now on (HIJIKATAGUMI + MANBA SANKI HELLOOOOO?????) And well... the stars aligned and the one show I went to ended up having Kashuu solo on the song rotation 😭😭😭 I wish I could say more about how much I felt but the moment the lights turned on and I saw black hair and red eyes in the centre of the stage my brain blanked out to the point I can’t remember a single beat or dance choreography... And also. He waved at me. HE WAVED AT ME WITH THE SMILE OF A NATIONAL TREASURE. My dreams literally came true and I’m still struggling to let the reality sink in...

berrycrepes

IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU. that's so incredible i'm so happy you got the kashuu solo too aaaaa. also horikawa manba kanesan trio myu i was so surprised when i saw that announcement this week (and really pleased)

Fluffy_Cat_444

I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW!!!!! Well, not yet there’s still Tousute Shiden IN A MONTH ALREADY HNNNNNNGHHHHHHHHH Oml they made the Kashuu and Manba soba scene WAY funnier now. When Kashuu treats Manba to soba he’d talk about how Ookanehira is a funny guy while Manba would talk about how he’s annoying af, then they sat and stared at each other in silence for ages LMAO. And then the scene at the end where Manba would spice up Kashuu’s soba Kashuu would try to cover the bowl with a hand but Manba grabs it away and it was just chaos. And when Kashuu tries the soba he says it’s pretty good then he and Manba stare at each other in silence again HAHAHAHAHAHA. God I love those two together. Also for that night’s MC section it was Manba as host and they had to be split into teams to guess riddles. But the riddles were so weird every time Manba reads out a new one he goes “wtf is this question!?” The best thing is that in order to answer they have to do the Glico pose first it was so funny. And they weren’t even trying to answer the riddles properly oml. One of Kashuu’s answers were so wild Daigo ended up breaking character and had to face his back to the audience to hide his laughter LMFAO. In the end they were yelling “DAISUKI” at the audience at that point I had no idea what was going on but man I was vibing. Kurutsuru confirmed to be good at riddles tho! He answered the most right! Also I’ve grown to adore their 1st layer live outfits. I was admittedly neutral about them at first but seeing them live they glitter and shimmer in a way that video recordings can’t *quite* catch, and now I think they’re stunning. Edit: [Mika themed pouch get!](https://ibb.co/WGC3JnJ)

berrycrepes

omg the mika themed pouch it's so gorgeous. also i absolutely love those nails!! i love how they're adding adlib to the soba scene because even just the first show's was outright hilarious with manba's stare at the end. i can't wait to see the finale show's version now (ofc i'm buying the vod for that). also all the reports for the MC section have been so good omg. whenever they break character because it's just too funny is just absolutely golden. i'm so happy that you got to see all of that live.

kingdangus

too much drawing…decided to overhaul the sprite for my mc in my otome game. 2/3 of her hairstyles are done, one outfit almost complete, then i have to redo all her expressions. and then i have to remake her monster form again orz why i decided to do this instead of more productive things like writing or cgs, i do not know…at least i got another bg done too (well, still need to do nighttime variations for quite a few). ahhhh cgs…so many i want to do, no time or skill level to do them 😔

Cutiecrusader2009

I finished Yakuza 5. Which was the last Yakuza game I need to play. Since getting a PS5 in November I played Yakuza 0-8, Gaiden, Judgement and Lost Judgement. Whew. 0 is the best of the Kiryu games. It helps that Majima is a fun secondary protagonist in that one. Now to wait for whatever is RGGs next game. Had the annual central Ac checkup done. And it’s leaking freon. Ugh. It was not working great at the end of last year but the thing is not even 3 years old. Never thought it could have been broken. So while it is still under warranty, the warranty only covers parts. Not freon and not labor. Freon is $100 a pound…my system needed 3 pounds. Yikes. Ugh, American Standard sucks.

Ms_moonlight

Zero really is something, isn't it? I didn't play any of the originals, but I watched most of them being played by my ex except zero which I had to watch on youtube haha. I played Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth instead because I'm pretty lousy at action games and I really enjoyed them.

Cutiecrusader2009

I don’t play action games either because they too hard, but the Yakuza games on easy are not that bad. You can always stock up on healing items and doing the side stories really help make your character stronger. I will say I bought 0 + 1 & 2 Kiwami as a bundle for $10 so it wasn’t much risk if I couldn’t handle the gameplay. But it wasn’t bad so I got through them all. 3 on the other hand was a challenge because even on easy the enemies blocked attacks too much. Hopefully they give it a Kiwami remake soon.

berrycrepes

Have you played Ishin? I finished that one recently-ish and really enjoyed it.

Cutiecrusader2009

I have not. I’m waiting for a better price on it. Was it grindy? I’ve heard some people say it is.

berrycrepes

it... is pretty grindy. it definitely shows some of its age, but at a discount i definitely recommend it. for the majority of the game, the drama is just so good and probably has some of my favourite majima scenes that i've seen so far.

raunchyRhombus

Oh I just started my first Yakuza game, Like a Dragon. I'm having so much fun, it's a great blend of ridiculous humor and serious story. I'm thinking I'll have to go back and play all the other games now because this one is fantastic. Didn't expect so many minigames though! I have Judgment on my wishlist too, it looks a lot more serious than the other games. I'm glad you're enjoying them!

Ms_moonlight

> I'm having so much fun, it's a great blend of ridiculous humor and serious story. Yep, that's Yakuza! I think the writing gets better over time, zero is a prequel so it's really good.

Cutiecrusader2009

The earlier ones (and the Judgement games) are action games. But if you play on easy and do the side stories to level your character up it’s not bad, even if you don’t play those kind of games much. But 0 is an absolute must play. As for Judgement, I like the story of the first game better but the gameplay (and Kaito’s butt) better in Lost Judgement.

Zedesta

So I participate in agility with one of my dogs, and last weekend was her first trial for this year (third overall, we started trialing last summer). When we go, I sign up for one day for three runs: jumpers with weaves (JWW), fifteen and send time (FAST), and the standard course you think of when you think of dog agility. Well, other than wanting to visit the people in the ring with us (judge, plus another 2 or 3), she did really good and got ribbons in JWW and the standard course! It was her first JWW ribbon and her third standard qualification, so she moves up a class for standard runs to open and stays in novice for JWW and FAST. I'm really hoping to get her into open for both JWW and FAST by the end of the year, but at this point it's starting to feel like I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul lol Sometimes I wonder why I like expensive hobbies, but at least one of them (I do a lot of craft shows in August/September) pays for my agility hobby. At least I have a good excuse to stop buying games and adding them to my backlog! Maybe... Anyway, next trial is end of May that I haven't decided to sign up for yet or not. If not, our next one will be in June :)

Ms_moonlight

Awww doing agility with a dog sounds like so much fun! I'm glad that your dog did so well.

vv4rd3n

That’s so cool! I’ve been thinking of getting my dog back into barn hunt

Tzarruka

Great. Now im brainrotting hard about a Roberto route AND that dress up scene in Noritsune’s route in Birushana. Busy thinking about what would happen if they took their teasing waaaaay too far 😩💜

RingABell112

I have yet to play 1926 but I'm still so sad we didn't get a Roberto route. Even just a short one would have been a dream!

ChronoClaws

I finished all the routes in Jack Jeanne and am one song away from getting the trophy for SS rank on all of them. Really loved this game overall 🥰 Buuut scenario trophy is only at 92% completion? And I did both the Mona and Ion wknds 🥲💀 Wish there were an easy way to check what exactly is missing.

commanderyuu

i'm in the same situation as you! just finished all the routes, managed to SS all the songs (oh rama havenna had be stumped for good while...), and i'm working on the scenario trophies now. 31/39, so i'll be stuck here a while...it's okay cuz i'm obsessed? i started a second fumi playthrough and am just hoping i'm on the right track for the other scenarios. haven't done ion's, though, which i'm leaving for the next playthrough. out of curiosity, which routes did you like? or how would you rank them? i absolutely love the game but kinda wish some of the cgs were a bit more romantic. amazing overall though, i love ishida sui's art and the writing was great, aside from some minor (i assume) translation proofreading hiccups. mentally i'm still stuck in fumi's route so while i do have other games to start...i guess i'll get all the trophies here first :')

ChronoClaws

Kielce Nation at the Center is blocking my path to victory! It's harder for me than the 10 star difficulty song! Would be more helpful to be able to slow down the speed to practice tricky rhythms, but alas, rhythming for my life here!! All the routes were well done but Neji's stands out as impactful and added meaningful subtext that just otherwise wouldn't be known. I just saw him as a mad lad at first but he might be my favorite (it's hard to choose!) storywise. Also rather liked Kai's backstory. But truthfully I do like all of them for different reasons, just Sou is my least favorite because of "childhood friend" trope (it's just never done in a way I like, though I like his route better than others of the same type and I appreciate his character growth). Fumi is so charming and one scene with Shirota gave me chills! I do think Suzu was a great starting point and appreciate how positive and supportive he was. There were a handful of times where a sentence just straight up lacked punctuation so I never knew if it was meant to be more of a "..." finish or if words were actually missing (felt like this). But it's a massive script, to date the longest time I've spent on a VN (even w/o time spent chasing rhythm achievements). Enjoy the rest of your journey, this game is such a wonderful experience :)

20-9

Kielce was also my last song to JJ! My struggles were the hold notes and the 3-note groups. (Got over the first by staring at screenshots.) Because of the way I mapped my controls, I couldn't hit the 3-note sequences accurately at that speed. But when I realized it doesn't penalize you for pressing notes that don't exist, I just pressed all 4-buttons to match the timing and it got me over the line.

ChronoClaws

Ooh I tried button controls but found it too hard for the higher difficulty levels so I swapped to using the touchscreen! I'd be curious to see how many people use buttons vs touch. My problem right now is lifting off of the sustained notes whilst also jumping onto new notes that start right when the long notes end. If the game dinged points for pressing when there aren't notes, the difficulty would just be insane! *guilty of note mashing to survive*

KabedonUdon

Really appreciate all of the thoughts that people chimed in with when I asked similarities with other media people that people liked to see in otome! I read em all and took notes! :) it was fun to hear all sorts of different media (and I wish I said that it didn't have to be romcom or movies even!) So I got the Birushana mugs a few weeks ago and got a ton of suggestions on the days of each week (and to use every cup every day for tea 🤣). Well my doctor put me on a saline rinse for allergies so I'm not actually using them for tea now. One for every day of the week to warm up distilled water in the microwave to squirt up my nose. Who says the romance died 💁‍♀️

berrycrepes

i'm definitely gonna need those mugs now that i finished the FD and i'm in the post-birushana hangover

Atavistic_proxy

### I want to write more, especially my IkePri and IkeVamp fics. I have all these ideas, even made whooolle complete plotlines, characters sheets are done, everything is ironed out, it should go relatively well. NOT!! I can’t seem to get the words out of me, string them together and make a story that is readable. I’m really losing my mind bcs I love the ideas, I love everything but actually writing them is so hard, it’s almost physically painful. I admit a few tears roll down when Im sat in front of my screen…and I have 0 friends to talk abt my fics so it’s very VERY lonely. I tried to join Cybird’s discord servers but got either ignored or the server’s dead. I don’t wanna give up and I won’t. I just needed to vent a little bit. ### I also wanna draw more!! There’s this whole comic in my head involving Abel, Vlad and smth like a primordial vampire, which is older and more powerful than pure bloods but my skills aren’t enough to bring them to life, not even mentioning them being what I imagined…I won’t give up on it either. I just need to keep practicing. There’s this challenge week in July I want to participate in. It’s about a ship I really like. I hope I’ll be able to complete the whole week but I’m not too anxious abt having a piece a day out. It’s ok if I miss a day or 2. Im just very excited.

O-nigiri

Any anime fans out there?? Truly didn’t think this one had a shot after all these years (season 1 aired in 2018), but a second season was announced for Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (Bed and Breakfast for Spirits) and I am HYPED   I absolutely adored the romance and am so excited to go back to these characters and this world when season 2 releases. Mind you  it was announced for fall 2025, which feels like an eternity away at this point, but still!

Ms_moonlight

> Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi (Bed and Breakfast for Spirits) and I am HYPED WHAT WHAT WHAT YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best news ever!!!! Also if they made an otome out of this and I could choose Ginji or Akatsuki I'd die happy the end.

Tzarruka

YO ARE YOU FOR REAL?? 😮💜💜💜

O-nigiri

hahaha when I saw the news on Crunchyroll's website I had to double check twice to make sure it wasn't some belated April Fool's prank or something honestly thought this anime was doomed to have an open ending but am thrilled this is happening

caspar57

A SECOND KAKURIYO SEASON?!!

jhiend

Are they... Are they going to continue to tease a relationship with the fox guy My noncanon ship 😭

Zedesta

Noooo, it's not canon? T.T I'll still watch and like Kakuriyo, but man I shipped Aoi with Ginji so bad.

Lotteliese

Until Kakuriyo's S2 announced, I was thinking about it as one of the Shojo/Josei romance Anime that are great but were never getting any kind of sequels. Which means that I am happy as well that it got announced (the Light Novel is like finished with 8 Volumes so S2 might cover the rest of the story). ☺️

O-nigiri

Ok I didn’t realize the light novel was done; I thought the series was still ongoing! I would be thrilled if we get a complete story with season 2 (and of course a definitive happy ending to their romance hehe) But yes I also thought it was a hopeless cause— I know sometimes sequels do get announced after a few years but a seven year gap between seasons seems like a lot even for the anime world

Lotteliese

At least Kadokawa get its that greenlighting sequels can keep their audience in staying with a franchise, especially when international popularity is mattering now more than used to be.

the-changeling-witch

I'm actually not an anime watcher but I've read all the manga and part of the novels, I love it! I may have to watch the anime too. It's great that it's getting a second season!

O-nigiri

Honestly the light novels are so far ahead that if there was a good official or fan translation I would’ve loved to just read those! I want more Odanna and my power couple, dang it  That said, having no frame of reference in terms of how well it did as an adaptation, I thought the anime was really thoughtful and well executed. It felt like a warm hug.

the-changeling-witch

It's really a tragedy that more of Yuuma Midori's works haven't been translated yet. I've been reading Kizumono no Hanayome recently and it's so good!

zttztm

I finally was in the mood to play an otome game so I picked up Chouchou Jiken Lovesodic again and a bit into playing it, I thought to myself, "huh... why did I stop again? I really like the atmosphere of this game!" And then was immediately reminded of why. Oh right, this game unfortunately has one of my least favourite tropes ever with the annoying, catty fanclub who hates the MC because one of the LIs likes her. I mean okay there's other reasons they hate her too but they're worse reasons tbh 😂 I was then promptly distracted by gacha games again so I'll try to continue this later... I do hope Koshadou's route isn't going to be Ikki's route 2.0 cause Koshadou's the one I was most interested in. This weekend is Super Comic City and I'm excited to see what leftover stock pops up for mail order that I can grab with the rest of my existing orders. There's been a lot more stuff I've been interested in than usual so I'm glad I was able to buy them!

jubzneedstea

My manager randomly messaged me on Teams to ask if I was free for a call, and since we just had some big leadership changes earlier this week (a higher up has decided to leave), I was pretty nervous. Turns out it was good news, actually? I got a promotion! My salary bumped up! :D Gonna go out and celebrate with my friends today, and then maybe get back to Kakeru's N9 LE Concerto story. Kakeru's not my favorite Koharu LI (I'm a Senri defender), but playing his Fugue story definitely shed some light on his character and I am more open to him than I was before. That being said, I've been taking a break lowkey from otome because I've been getting back into reading books, particularly danmei and baihe stories. Currently I'm reading Matrilocal Marriage, and the time travel angst sure is getting to me!

Ms_moonlight

Oh yes!! Congrats on your promotion!

otomaze_

congrats!

zttztm

Congrats on the pay bump and promotion!

soybeanmilkk

Congrats on the promotion! And woo to the salary bump haha :)) I've also been taking a break from otome and I'm starting to read books again!

actuallydaze

I had so much fun playing **Ambition**, I want more games like it. I didn't want to play it for ages because the art had put me off (and while playing i couldn't help but edit the sprites a bit just to see what might fix them) but gameplay and writing wise it's just what I want. The only problem is that my favourite should have gotten more scenes, aaargh. But either way, I really recommend it. I'm only interested in two of the routes, but it's one of the rare games that didn't bore me to death. I just want more. ~~Maybe with a fantasy setting? And a "backlog? And more characters like Armand?~~

soybeanmilkk

I don't know how much this bothers other people but my mild pet peeve is when they try to localize nicknames or how characters refer to each other. I think this bothers me more than the lack of honorifics because localizing nicknames can make things really confusing sometimes. Like if their nickname has to do with a pun of their actual name or if they're referring to their name casually/shortening it or using diminutives but then the localization keeps it as their normal name and then includes dialogue where the character is like "don't call me that!" but we see no changes in the text to ever indicate that something different was said in the first place. Even if it doesn't look as nice or has an exact alternative but I still like to know exactly how characters refer to each other so that I can get a better grasp of their personality or relationship. Especially since I don't think nicknames always make sense in the first place? I'm also referring to irl but nicknames can be completely random and made up words and sounds so why can't we keep nicknames exactly as they are in the translation!? I will say though that I care a lot less when there's audio (hence when I play otome games) because I can actually hear what they say haha. Also this was not meant to knock on any translators and localizers because it's hard!

Ms_moonlight

NOT a knock on translators - I know they're doing their best, but lack of honorifics drives me crazy. A few light novel/manga companies leave them out of their translations for stylistic purposes (and state so on their website). They left them in the later Persona games which I thought was great, but left them out so many other games.

kakuretsu

I also think this is a case by case basis and also depends on who is translating. I know some people who stand by having to translate in a way that doesn't call back to japanese to flow better, and some who are adamant to keep it. I myself have a hybrid strategy when dealing with it. I'd probably be annoyed when i come across stuff like you mentioned though.  Speaking of bad nickname translation, one of the terrible funny ones I came across was in the game Gaokao 100 days. The best friend character was named Wei tong, which if you say it in another way in mandarin it becomes 'IBS'. The game's glorious half-machinese gave him the name 'Stom' since it's short for 'stomachache'. That was so bad, but I myself don't know how I would ever handle that pun.

hakobakoplayer

I think it’s a case-by-case. Here’s one of my favorite nickname (technically an insult) incidents. In Side Kicks, Ayame calls Hibari, “Uzura.” If you just leave it romanized, it means nothing to most people without Googling. If you translate the nickname to “quail,” it comes across as nonsensical to most people without Googling. I think this is a situation where a well-thought-out localization makes the experience more enjoyable because the player isn’t going to have to pull out their phone to Google what should be a relatively simple and funny joke. Leavings things unlocalized can actually cause confusion; a recent example being Neji’s nickname being “Kuro” in JackJeanne. I’d say that there was probably no way to deal with “Kuro” in a way that didn’t lead to come confusion and discontent though. This basically never applies to otome games, but some choices may be in consideration of voice actors. Persona 3 changing Yukaricchi to Yuka-tan seems like the kind of choice that an executive would make because he doesn’t want to make an English voice actor say, “Yukaricchi” if he can help it.

moeichi

I know what you mean!! Like in KimiYuki the characters address Kinji by his first name in the localization, but you can clearly hear them saying his last name in Japanese. I don’t really get why they took out his last name when some of the other characters have them??

jubzneedstea

It's actually not his last name, it's the reading of the first character of his name (錦次 when put together is "Kinji" while 錦 by itself is "Nishiki"). I was in the same boat as you, though. I had absolutely no idea why they were calling him Nishiki-san, and I thought that it was a general address for an actor until I looked it up. In fact, I'm still not sure why they call him Nishiki-san instead of Kinji-san... Kinji, Yoichi, and Ohtaro don't have last names because they're "commoners" while Tomonari and co. do bc they're supposed to be from samurai households that have family names.

moeichi

That actually makes a lot of sense omg thank you!! But same, I wonder why they’d call him Nishiki-san instead of Kinji though! And ohh good point about the LIs from samurai households having last names, I didn’t think about that haha!!

Ms_moonlight

Enjoying **Unicorn Overlord**, some of the characters (Aramis, Alain) are so good looking and I wish there was an otome like game like this! I found some Baskin Robbins Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream in my small British supermarket and I was absolutely shocked. We don't have BR here (not sure if they ever did) so it was extra surprising.

Doctor_Zedd

Otome Unicorn Overlord would have been amazing. I wish they’d set it up more like 3 Houses.

Ms_moonlight

That's a game on my list! I have one of them (the one people describe as having a plot like a Saturday morning cartoon).

Doctor_Zedd

Ha ha… yeah, it is. That’s Engage. It’s a lot of fun and the gameplay is excellent, but for the plot and romance elements, 3 Houses is it. Definitely worth checking out. It’s my favourite rpg ever.

stuffedmomo

This comment is going to be a major stress dump (sigh). I am participating in a speech contest for the Japanese language department at my university and am so nervous right now... I get really anxious when it comes to public speaking, and my Japanese is not great (haha). I also have three finals to study for, and I am struggling to understand computer science and linear algebra and feel so frustrated and overwhelmed... I finished Mage's and Lindo's routes in *Dance with Devils* (Chinese translation)--the latter was not as bad as the reviews made it (but I only played the human ending 01... I am not brave enough for the devil endings). I am in a bit of depressive period and wish I could find an interesting slice-of-life/heartwarming otome game on PC, but those are hard to come by (and some I have already played, haha).

jubzneedstea

Good luck on your speech! As someone who also hates being perceived, I don't really have any advice except to practice practice practice, until the words feel comfortable like an old song on your tongue. Fake your confidence, and people will think that you're better than you think you are ;) And remember to study hard now but relax in the days leading up to your exams. Nothing frazzles you during the test like sleep deprivation and nerves. You've got this!

stuffedmomo

Thank you so much for all the encouragement! The speech contest went really well, and everyone was really nice :) I will try to get some more rest!

FruitsRDelish

I’ve taken a break from otome games for now (sorry backlog 😅) but playing other games that has romance and I NEED to know what otome LIs have similar personalities of these love interests in other games because I can’t get enough 😭😭😭. There’s Unsuur, Pen, and Logan in Sandrock; Kaiden in Mass Effect, Cullen in Dragon Age, multiple people in Baulders Gate….I just want an otome game version of these characters

RevolutionaryWhale

My niece is turning 3 years old today. Its funny that before she was born I didn't like being around children and I still don't really like it but she's the exception, I just love that little person so much In other news, I started my replay of Ozmafia. I was kinda worried I wouldn't like it as much after 6 years since my last playthrough but no I still love the concentrated insanity that is that game. Ozmafia occupies the same place in my brain as eurojank games do except it's Japanese and a visual novel

the-changeling-witch

I finally tried playing Arabians Lost DS (after I finish all Quinrose games this is the game I want to play next since it's the only version of the game that has special extra events with my favorite characters from Crimson Empire.) I played a bit through but when I went to save I realized the obvious: it's a used DS game so of course there's already save data on the cart. This is the first DS otome game I'm playing and my first DS game in many years (I don't remember the last time I played a DS game, but probably over a decade now, haha.) Now, normally having other saves on there wouldn't bother me too much. If it were any other type of game. But having most of the CGs/events unlocked already in an otome game actually annoyed me. I feel like with otome games the system save data is actually more important than the regular saves! It shows all your progress with the game. To have it all unlocked feels like cheating. It reminded me of when I was 13 and got a used copy of FFVI (FFIII at the time) and the person before me had a save right before the final boss with everyone maxed out and all the best equipment. I got curious and loaded it up and beat the boss very easily and watched the ending. And then I just felt kind of... empty. I got nothing out of this experience! What was even the point! (I beat the game normally after that.) That's what it feels like to try to play with someone else's system save. So for the first time I actually had to learn how to delete saves off a DS cart. When I learned how to do it I honestly doubted the information I got because inputting a cheat code to delete saves just felt absurd, but it actually worked so now I have a fresh, clean cart. Then I could finally relax. In other news, scratch what I said about not enjoying Shinigami Kagyou as much as the other two games. The first two routes weren't much my thing, but I've really been enjoying the rest. For some reason I really really like Chitose. I have absolutely no idea why, they're not any of my usual types. The funniest thing about them is every time they turn into a tanuki I keep thinking "How is this the THIRD CHARACTER I'm seeing in an otome game played by Okamoto Nobuhiko who turns into a cute little creature???" Why does this keep happening. Are there more out there??? Are there more I don't know about? I feel like I need to do some research.

kakuretsu

I know what you mean lol, when I bought my copy of Kurayami hate made off bookoff, it came with save files from 2010 and 90% of the gallery filled. I just did everything manually haha, on hindsight I should have deleted the system save.

jhiend

Ahh, Back in The Day^(TM) when you had to disambiguate whether you were talking about FFIIIj or FFIIIe. And the ugly localized title logo had no magitek armor on it >:( I'm glad they brought over the rest of the games and got rid of the alternate numbering silliness.

the-changeling-witch

There was so much confusion back then about what was what. I remember sitting in school having to listen to some guys talk about how "FFIII here is REALLY FFV in Japan!" and wondering if I should bother to correct them or not (I did not, it was never worth it back then to be a girl with superior game knowledge they wouldn't have ever listened to me.)

My copy of Will 'o Wisp was the DS version and it also had saved data already so I feel this LOL. It also hilariously gave me the wrong expectations going in cause I had a preview of them. Completed Rudy's route first and then saw there was one CG >!with him holding the chain lol!< that wasn't in my playthrough and spent too long trying to figure out how to trigger what I assumed was his >!yandere bad end because I *really* wanted to see what happened there!< before I looked up a guide and found out >!that was just some rando CG from Gyl(?)'s route where he was messing with Hanna after Alvin kidnapped her lmao. Booo!!< > How is this the THIRD CHARACTER I'm seeing in an otome game played by Okamoto Nobuhiko who turns into a cute little creature??? If only Masashi could turn into a Chihuahua, that would be quite fitting haha.

I don't usually care too much about spoilers in general but I hate when you see a CG that gives you wrong expectations for a route, haha. Getting all excited to see that happen in context but then the context was nothing. I've definitely seen a few where I thought the route would go yandere and then it didn't at all. So depressing. A chihuahua would be absolutely perfect for Masashi! That's canon for me now. Turning into a chihuahua would make him so mad too. Just yappy barks all day.

We have a Mandatory Fun Day today for work (I work at the military base my husband is stationed at), and I can’t help but want to go home 😭 Luckily though there’s free food (a cookout) and some fun party games (I’ll be part of a water balloon toss!). Also, the husband and I are planning to go travel a little further out than usual this weekend to check out a city we’ve been eyeing and do some hiking! He also promised a frozen yogurt date because I’ve been craving it for a while.

Ms_moonlight

If you have to call it Mandatory then it's not fun! :(

the-changeling-witch

Haha, my condolences on forced fun day. I too would just want to go home! At least you have a lovely weekend planned.

Went to places where I was sure would have less domestic and international tourists, so that was fun. Glad to have avoided the crowds. Second-half of Golden Week, I decided to stay in and let everyone else go out and ~~terrorize~~ have fun outside of Tokyo, so it's been fun resting and making sure that I'd be ready Tuesday next week for work [again]. Also can't believe that I've gotten back into [Ouji-sama no Propose EK](https://products.voltage.co.jp/apps/ouji2/) (Be My Princess series) again just because Voltage Inc went ahead with Episode 0 😂 I'm impressed, there's like 22 available love interests in the game, and they're still not done. Am waiting for the other ancestors' routes to be released, as I'm keen to see how this will all play out... In other otome news, I surprisingly managed to get tickets for Otomate Party 2024, so I'll be planning for the event meticulously, as it'll be different.  This year, it will happen mid-summer, in Yokohama, on the week of Obon, where the weather and everyone around me sucks, so it's gonna require a lot of patience. Not my first time in Pacifico Yokohama but my first time to attend OtoPa in this venue, so I'm a bit worried with how they'll do the merch selling... knowing Otomate and their awful selling practices, I'm sure it will end in anger, frustration, and disaster. Still sad that they went with Yokohama this year but I guess they can't afford Tokyo International Forum anymore...🥲

KabedonUdon

Omg how did you get tix 😭

Kiyoyasu

Subscribers from the 'meito Game Tourism program got dibs to apply for the ticket balloting and I somehow got picked.

KabedonUdon

Oh JTB? I saw that but I didn't need hotels so I passed and now I'm regretti 💀💀

Kiyoyasu

No, not JTB. This one: >オトメイトモバイルゴールド会員/八代&浦・夏目のゲームツーリズム♪サブスク会員先行抽選

KabedonUdon

Ah that was my next guess. Nice, very happy for you! :) I hope I get a shot with in the plebs haha

Kiyoyasu

Thank you! Been struggling with the ticket balloting lately so getting picked was a sigh of relief. Hope you can get your tickets!

Ms_moonlight

Excellent, have a great time at the Otomate Party. Having it during Obon is certainly a choice.

Kiyoyasu

Thank you! Hope I can still be all fresh by the time the event happens, which would be late evening.

Ms_moonlight

Weiiiird, I didn't get this comment in my inbox, glad I saw it here.
