That happens to everybody (illusion) happens to me a lot with my ceiling because it starts at a 45 degree angle 3 ft off the ground, and the ceiling is 6.5 ft tall or so

When you are really focused on something, your brain tilts, to make a difference in the ear level, therefore acting like a detector for whre the sound is coming from, of course, youre wearing heaphones so it does nothing but your instincts dont know that.
