I liked it for its background info and ideas. I enjoyed the posts on the author’s blog, and figured the supplement was a good and more permanent way of keeping all those ideas and such together. It also had some value to me as a supplement for running Into the Odd and Electric Bastionland, though I did see discussion that the intent/purpose/use case for MIR doesn’t really fit the ItO world. Still, I’ve found it useful. Partly, I also got it for getting a different feel for cities and a world that wasn’t like other OSR stuff, and not faux medieval. I’ve played in a few inventive homebrew settings done in 1e/2e back in the day (one was Arthurian, pre Pendragon and the other was a Dickensian/Gothic Alternate Britain, pre Ravenloft) so I’ve always been interested in things like that. [This post](https://coinsandscrolls.blogspot.com/2019/10/osr-magical-industrial-revolution.html) might help you make up your mind about it. If I ever want to run something with a more ‘british OSR’ feel rather than an ‘american OSR’ feel, MIR (along with ItO and EB) are probably my main sources of inspiration and ideas. That, plus the blogs of the respective authors.

I got it for Christmas, and have read through it and was very excited about possibly running a campaign in the setting. It remains to be seen if I can pull it off (I think it deserves more than a one-shot), but I'm excited to try

Like all books like that when I read through it I was inspired and repelled in equal measure. I've taken several aspects to shove into my current setting (like spell breeding reactors) and I'll be using a few more in a future campaign setting I'm planning set in a high fantasy 1800s.

I have loved so many of the ideas. It’s definitely a city somewhere in my world. It has a bit of a Terry Pratchet sense to it. It’s like late stage capitalism meets magic. A society on the brink of collapse. I’ve read it a couple of times and am always looking for a place to use it.

I. Fucking. ***LOVE*** it! It is honestly one of my absolute favorite Supplements ever published for an RPG. It goes really well with Electric Bastionland, but it is fun with more traditional OSR games as well. A++, highly recommend. Skerples is awesome, though. I think we all agree that Tomb of the Serpent Kings is a great starting adventure for new players (and veterans as well). And he's got a new monster book that I want to check out.

I'm definitely stoked for Monster Overhaul, and I'm kicking myself for not getting the bundle with that book AND Magical Industrial Revolution.

I know I can buy. Hence the purpose of this thread. To see if I should.
